I am astonished and the horrible care and bedside manner. We have been waiting over an hour for my Aunt to get her pain medicine after back surgery. She's had the worst experience being her. She has waited over 4 hours for someone to take her to the restroom, nobody ever came and had to lift herself on the toilet by herself. I'm absolutely shocked.

After my surgery on August 14 I was very impressed and happy with the care I received. My nurses Emily, Kaitlyn, Katie and Tina were helpful and thoughtful. Kaitlyn and Katie were especially caring and compassionate to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. It seemed whatever I needed they had before I even asked. They are most certainly a great asset to Johnston Willis. I Would like to tell them once again thank you so much for care and compassion for me during my stay.

Very efficient hospital. Pre-op tests were done smoothly and without delay, nurses very friendly and comforting - assuaging my fears. Short delay the day of surgery, but all went well once started. Again, a clean and efficient experience.

Check in was safe and easy. Staff were courteous and helpful. All procedures were explained clearly. One person from radiology walked me to the area of the hospital for a second test. The only complaint is that there were two people in a small waiting area with me who were not wearing masks, and there was no staff available to tell them to put their masks on.

I will never come back to this hospital bad service every time I go even chippenham. I will be finding a bon secours hospital to go to for now on and it s sad because this hospital is 15 mins away compared to st Mary s or st Francis I work in a hospital setting and understand the way it operates and to go to this hospital in my time of need Instead of the one I work at and received terrible service I am highly disappointed I should ve just took the drive to my own. The staff there are horrible in the ER and I m angry every time I look at the bill I received from that visit not only was I treated horribly I didn t get anything resolved from the visit I will not be coming back I m mad I can t find the survey that was mailed out not that it would help but go to bon secours if you can or expect terrible service smh

The Triage and P.A. were so good to my husband who came in to the E.R. for chest pain and trouble breathing. They took him right in to help him and we are thankful!
I would give them 5 stars but the nurse who was assigned to us was very matter of fact and would answer the question as she was leaving our room. And made us feel like she was bothered by us asking her anything. Wylma's attitude and bedside manners are terrible especially when she is treating people who truly need help.

I like going to Johnston-Willis Hospital, but I had experience on 31 July 2019 that I did not like. I was told by my Doctor office that my MRI appointment time was 11:45 am. Then I received a call from Johnston-Willis Hospital telling me to be there 35 minutes earlier. That was not a problem. The problem is that my appointment time Johnston-Willis had me down for was 12:30 pm. How do you go from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm on appointment time.Thank God I did not have anything else to do that day, but there are individuals out there they may have another appointment, go back to work or have something else to do.
There was a gentleman, named Brain, that came and spoke to me. He told me he was sorry for the mix up of the times and the hospital was working on fixing it.

I had and CT scan done there on 11April 2019 and did not have this problem.

I hope this matter can be fix.

Thanks

Shirley Bratton

I was in the er for approximately 4-5 hoursfor them to tell me nothing was wrong with me. Then had to turn around the next day and go back to the er. And was given A diagnosis. I feel as though if everything was checked and taken care of when I came to Johnston Willis i wouldn't have missed another day of work and would've felt a lot better. I'm very disappointed.

Went for in for surgery that was a wonderful experience! Was taken to the women's health unit. My first nurse seemed ro be overwhelmed & frustrated because all the patients she had to attend to was calling all at the same time. But my night nurse and next day nurse were the best. My other reason for the low rating is that I was in my room for 10 hours before housekeeping brought paper towels to my room. I was washing my hands and drying them off on a blanket!!! This was inexcusable, we are in the middle of a pandemic and I had to dry my hands on a blanket that was put on my nightstand.

There was no clear way to find out where to go for my mammogram. It took me 20 minutes to find the department. I never got a letter, so I had to call to get my results. I have gone to the Ellen Shaw de Peredes Institute for years, and they have gotten so impersonal, I was hoping for something different. I didn't get that.

I was also taken to x-ray after surgery and left in a dark hallway for over an hour before they took me back to my room.

I did not like the Black outfits! I was not at JW for good reasons so seeing the front desk people all dressed in black was un nerving! I felt more like they were Funeral Directors! Or cheap hotel front desk clerks. It was creepy! I m thinking Bright and Cheery would be WAY MORE APPROPRIATE!!!

Oh and while you ponder this. I know of lots of Artist battling Cancer whose art work would look lovely on the walls and about! You could show it off for them and give a fresh breath of air to the place! You could also switch out the work every few months or so. Think it over I would love to help.

The women who helped me while I was there were FANTASTIC!

My experience at Johnston-Willis Hospital was ok. There were a couple of things that were displeasing to me. First when I got there I was greeted and put in a room and forgotten. Not registered right away and I was sent there from Patient First. Second the nurse need to be trained in giving Covid test. Not jam a tool up a persons nostrils. She is the same person that put me in a room and left me. Great experience was the nurse that took my blood and Dr. Ryland Salsbury. I would recommend Johnson-Willis to anyone because there are some great nurses and doctors.

Dr. David at the Radiation Oncology clinic and his staff were awesome!
They are kind, compassionate and very knowledgeable in their craft. My 10 visits for RAD-ONC were painless and as enjoyable as RAD-ONC can be.
Their mood was always uplifting and comforting throughout the process.
I am glad that I found them!

My score would be negative stars if possible. I went in for a possible break of my toe. I was left in the lobby. I NEVER saw a medical professional. I was given x-rays without ever being examined. I was called up after hours in the lobby to be told by someone my toe was not broken and sent away...having never seeing a doctor or a nurse.

At JW for surgical procedure, excellent teams of health care professionals in pre-surgery, surgery, post-surgery, and submission floor all delivering excellent and attentive care that could not have been better. Only possible improvement would be in identifying cases that are not their standard protocol and adjusting protocol standards and logistics to better align with any changes, my goal was for release the same day of surgery which isn't standard protocol there for that surgery. Other than that possible improvement my experience was 5-star!

My visit was really great. I gave birth on 12/06/19 to a beautiful babygirl. All the nurses was so a nice and very patient but the ones that really stood out was Alicia and Kat they were AWSOME. The only thing that kinda got to me was while I was in labor no one listened to me when I told them I was pushing once I felt a contraction. I kept getting told that it s not me pushing it was just pressure from the contractions being that my baby was low until they checked me and saw my baby hair coming out. I just feel like ALL hospitals not just Johnston-Willis should listen to their patients when they feel something going on with there body or whatever issue it could be instead of assuming what the issue is. Then it comes off like we re being overly dramatic and you don t want to help me and then later in the future the issue I tried to bring to your attention got worse and then so forth. Other than that I had a great visit at Johnston-Willis.

Only take away I had was they couldn't determine what the root cause was at the time but they found me a Specialist that could assist with the issue (hopefully).
Nurse Carrie (travel nurse) and Nurse Heather were amazing as all the nurses were (sorry, could only remember a few names).

I was quite disappointed with my head nurse and staff except Shevi. When the nurse asked for urine specimen she just left the bottle there and didn't tell me where the bathroom was, I had to go in the hallway and ask someone to direct me. They never left the call box by my bed and in order to call them I had to get out of bed and look for it and to top that off the machine that keeps track of bp and oxygen was beeping for 1/2 hr and before anyone came in and when he did he said it was nothing. I then said to him "but it's right by my head and it's annoying.. Very disappointed with the level of care. I was in a lot of pain on my left shoulder blade and sitting upright against that hard bed for a long time waiting for them to lower my bed was very difficult.

Johnston Willis/VPFW provided me with excellent care and a humbling experience. I was scared and I often thought of cancelling my surgery several times but it was the best decision I ever made to listen to two of the finest doctors Dr. Pound and Dr. Aboujaoude. It literally brings tears to my eyes how well both doctors cared for me my entire time under their care. They are both patient and well mannered. They are highly respectful and recommended professionals. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

RN s were wonderful. Other than that this place sucks your money from your pocket and provides unreliable service. Please take your loved ones to a more knowledgeable hospital with doctors that can diagnose correctly.. not have doctors diagnose and then the next day a new doctor diagnose with somethig else. Dr s come by to collect money. Sad place. Sad world. Will never return. I reccomend you chose somewhere else.

I came through the emergency entrance. I was unconscious and when came to a nurse was at my side and she explained what happened. I was then admitted and had undergone several tests to assure I was okay. The staff helpful and kind. Every procedure was explained thoroughly. I couldn't ask for a better team of professionals.

My father was rushed to the hospital due to a (min...

My father was rushed to the hospital due to a (minor) stroke. The emergency team took him in immediately and began a full barrage of tests. In my opinion the emergency team did an outstanding job. I would gladly give them a 5 star rating on the experience that we had. However, the situation greatly changed once he was taken to a standard room. The 1st issue was confusion on which room he was supposed to go in. Once that was settled, there was miscommunication on when he would be going to 3 essential tests (MRI, CAT, and Echo). So he was sent for the CAT, later to find out that the MRI time slot was missed due to him being gone for the CAT. Since the MRI is difficult to get worked in, this caused an issue. Finally later that night, he gets worked back into the MRI. All the while, miscommunication as to where he is and where he should be next is concerning. And while he is off having the tests run, I'm in the room with he's minimally coherent room mate next door. The nurse for the room mate comes in to find that the person that should've been checking on him hasn't; and, the poor nurse finds a very smelly surprise all over the bed. As she cleans it up, the catheter breaks and goes all over the floor. She goes gets help and they all pitch in. Those are the nurses that go the extra mile. Unfortunately I didn't see that from the nurses on my father's side of the curtain. Granted, the first nurse and the last nurse did a good job, but the ones between those time frames did not. Which brings me back to the MRI/CAT scans being completed, but no one knew when the Echo would be occurring, just that it would be sometime tomorrow. So we tried to get some sleep. The next day, no one can tell us when the Echo would be done or where the doctor was. By the middle of the afternoon, the nurse brings my father medication, but he has already taken his medication (he has inoperable brain tumors, so he HAS to take his medicine 3 times a day). The nurse lectures us on her having a degree and he can not be taking pills unless she specifically gives pills to him. But when I indicate that the medicine is required 3 times a day for the inoperable tumors (the morning and mid day she should've delivered, but now it was mid afternoon), she had no rebuttal. Anyway, we have now sat nearly an entire day waiting on the Echo guy to visit. When he does visit, my father (whom was very ready to leave) commented that it took a long time to finally get the test run. The Echo person informs us that my father was just added to the list; and, that he (the Echo guy) had been sitting around with nothing to do for the past couple hours. So the test was ran and we finally get discharged (this was now Saturday night). The only thing left is to pick up the reports and the CD of all the tests ran so my father (whom is from Mississippi, up visiting) could take the info back to his local doctors. It is supposed to be ready Sunday, but from the consistent confusion, I expected it would be Monday, if at all. So Monday, I call just to make sure its ready at the nurses station, which is where they told me to go. And as expected, no one had a clue as to what I'm talking about, but they would look into it and have the info ready by the time I got there. Due to the recent experiences, I called the Radiology department to see if I could get the information there, which I could. When I arrived at the hospital on Monday evening, the Radiology department had everything ready and I provided the required information they needed to allow me to pick up the records. But out of my own personal interests, I went to the nurse's station, as originally instructed, to see if they had the reports/CD; and, they did not. So 5 stars for the emergency staff and 2 stars for the follow up staff and extremely poor miscommunication (but again, not all were sub-par, I did see some very capable nurses there, and the two doctors we saw seemed very capable as well). So I gave 3 stars as a middle of the road rating.

Their radiology and imaging service stinks. My appointment was at 3 pm and called me a weak before to come in 45 mins early. I got there 1 hr early , the first registration area staff was good, I only had to wait 20 minutes. Went to radiology and had to fill in another questioner. After that I waited and waited there until 4:30 pm , made enquirey about my MRI, receptionist asking me if I did my registration, I said yes and gave paperwork to the other receptionist who had left by that time. Then she went in the back room to look for my papers and came back to tell me that there were some emergencies. They will get to me in half an hour. I told her that emergency only effected me and not other patients who were called in after 15-20 minutes wait. It is ridiculous to wait for two and half hour or more for MRI. There process is a flop. I suggest to go to some other hospital or a private imaging services.

Terrible care during my admittance to the neurology floor. Was admitted to receive an MRI and a night for observation on a Sunday. Despite numerous inquiries about when I was to have my MRI, I kept receiving the same answer "probably in about 2 hrs". 32 hrs later, I was taken to get my MRI. I asked for a Case Manager to look into why I was kept in the hospital for an extra day without the MRI and according to the computer records, she indicated 4 physicians had order an MRI for Sunday but it wasn't communicated through the proper channels. She shared she was responsible for overseeing the nurses on that floor and would address this with them.

I was extremely sick and went to the ER for answers. Unfortunately the ER was unable to diagnose what was wrong with me. I ended up having to see a gastro dr to get an answer. I feel like when you go to the ER and pay that whopping copay it should be one stop. The ER only runs certain labs when in my opinion the whole gam-mot of labs should be run. The nurses were not very kind. The dr was nicer than the nurses.

I saw the Dr. For less than two minutes. The nurse came and drew blood. The room was filthy, cold and we were left there for hours. I asked several times what was going on. Someone brought in a portable screen and said a psychiatrist would be on in about 30 minutes. My husband has Alzheimer's and was suffering from severe hallucinations. 45 minutes later l asked for my nurse, she came in l explained how unhappy l was and she said she was busy. I felt my husband had calmed down enough to leave. The nurse said she would go get the doctor. She came back with a message from him to go to Chippenham next time, they are not set up for what l needed. Awful experience.

My wife had a C-Section here in September of 2019. Everyone was fantastic! Our room was spacious and as comfortable as a hospital room can be. We were checked into a room upon arrival. We went down the hall for the surgery and then came back and stayed in the same room. You had to be buzzed onto the hallway for safety. Our baby had a security ankle monitor that matched our bracelets. We really appreciated everyone!

I had a CT scan with contrast scheduled. The special drink was given to me 30 minutes late. My appointment was for 1:30, so now it would be 2:00 pm. At 2:20 I asked about my appointment time. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful. Turns out a tech lost my paperwork. It was after 2:30 before I was seen. The tech tried to draw blood 2 times. At both sites - one in right arm & one on left wrist - she wiggled the needle around trying to get blood. I never have an issue with blood draws. The left wrist HURT like crazy. I could not even hold a cup/glass that evening! Finally an RN came in and drew my blood from a vein in my left arm. She also started the IV. She was finished before I knew she started. PLEASE only let experienced medical staff start IV s. The tech obviously did not know what she was doing. As such, I suffered as she wiggled the needle around while it was in my arm! I still have bruising a week later in my wrist.

i had a rt tkr on 10-13-2020. the check in process of my surgery date was very smooth, until my surgery was complete & i was transferred from the recovery to my room. it was very well communicated & twice confirmed of the pain treatment my doctor & I had agreed on. it was apparently noted in my chart as i observed the check in nurse & doctor refer to my chart & mentioned my pain treatment plan. however, when i recovered from anesthesia i notified the nurse 3 times that the sensation was returning. according to the pre-op intructions this is important information to be communicated to the nurse as it prompts the nurse to begin pain meds. on the 3rd time i notified the nurse my feeling was returning she finally acknowledged my statement and stated she will get my pain medicine and referred to it by it's name. i stopped her & corrected her about my pain treatment. she then called my doctor's nurse to clarify the treatment protocol. my doctor's nurse responded that was not the doctor's normal treatment for his patients. she didn't even refer to my chart with the doctor's office. if she had done this she would have seen the notes by the doctor of the approved pain treatment. the hospital nures administered the standard pain treatment because i am now in severe pain. the nurse's changed during the day and each nurse, a total of 3, i told my story of the pain treatment i was to recieve. the 3rd nurse did finally decide to pick up the phone & instruct the doctor's nurse to have a real conversation with the doctor rather than assuming usual protocol. however, by answered prayers, my doctor happened to be on the hospital floor and the nurse recognized him. she clarified my pain treatment with him.
i am not so mad with the hospital nurse's as i am with my doctor's nurse. however, they do have a responsibility in this miscommunication. i am confident my hospital chart had the correct pain treatment noted as verified by the check in nurse and the doctor himself. but not a single nurse would review my chart for this information. their in action caused me unnecessary pain in my recovery. i will never go back to that hospital to be treated by such incompetent nursing staff.

I was a patient on the Joint Replacement Unit 5 (1/20/15) years ago with a total knee replacement - and the nursing care was so bad I almost decided to not return on January 13th, 2020 for a total hip replacement. I am glad I did. It was a totally different world with nurses who cared and were very very attentive. I felt safe which I didn't feel at all in 2015. Much has changed there - and it is all for the better. 300% better!
