I had my annual mammogram, but this time in the newer mammography suite. The check in process was a breeze and those working in registration were very friendly. Once inside the mammo suite, the rest of the process was very efficient. The team is very prepared and it shows how accustomed they are to caring for patients. Special thanks to Courtney who did my actual screening. She did an awesome job talking me through the process and making me feel as comfortable as possible!

The nurses were beyond excellent. No complaints in this area. However, the food was below substandard . It's ashame this survey isn't broken down into categories so you can know where the real problem is.
The level of care I received at JWH was first class level. From my initial appointment to post-surgical visits, the entire staff is professional, respectful and caring.
A reliable and friendly hospital. My needs were mostly met by a team of employees, some happy, some sad. I survived and was happy when I was discharged. One RN practitioner from Chippenham Hospital,, working part-time, was very efficient and respectful, it made my visit appreciable.
I came to visit a relative that recently had a baby, no signs up to give directions to main elevators and get to 3rd floor to find out I needed I. D. not even the father could take me back. Signs about you needing identification should be posted on the 1st floor not everyone brings pocketbooks and wallets with them to a hospital especially if you are visiting someone. I could have waited for them to go home to visit for the distance I drove.
Staff and Doctors are amazing! We saw Dr. Love and he had the BEST bedside manor! He made light of a bad situation and was great!! Highly recommend this facility!
The staff was polite & courteous. The waiting area was comfortable and the dressing room was clean and pleasant. The technician was pleasant & helpful in instructing what to do.
I came for a routine mammogram, JW runs like a we'll oiled machine. I came 5 min early was registered, examined and out the door within 30 minutes. Staff is pleasant and professional, results are received within 2 days.
Worst service i ve witnessed. No sympathy whatsoever... My father has broken his Leg to where the bone is out of the skin. He arrived at the ER at 10:30am and it is now 6pm and Still waiting.
My time at the health care unit was great. I never had a problem or bad experience. As I transferred to the rehab center could not have been better. My trainer was the best. My O. T was Jamie and P. T was Monica they were the best. Thanks
This is the best hospital experience I have had in RVA. Having my knee replacement was a hard decision and I am so glad I did it at Johnston-Willis hospital. I am a nurse and know how care should be delivered and Johnston-Willis hospital was better than I anticipated. Everyone that came in contact with me was friendly and made me feel like I was important. The clinical staff were all on the same page with the expertise needed to care for me. I was listened to and part of the team. My pain management was addressed and was successful. Everyone from my physician, his staff, the nurses, therapist, environmental services and dietary were great.
I'm so grateful I chose this hospital to have my firstborn. Dr. Feore and the attending nurses and Dr. Grossman made my experience one I will always cherish. Wonderful maternity/infant ward staff all around from the nurses to the lactation specialists. Thank yall for all you did!
I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The woman who checked us in at the door was very welcoming. We arrived at 8am and I delivered my daughter at 12:58. We had about 10 different nurses over the day and a half we were there. All of them were absolutely wonderful. Our delivery nurse Kim was amazing. My doctor Dr. Bachrach made my delivery a breeze. Victoria was our baby s nurse the majority of the time and she was knowledgeable and very patient with us as I had lots of questions. And then there was Katherine. She was the nurse we had the next morning that helped check us out. What a kind sweet lady. I adored her. We would highly recommend having your baby at Johnston Willis.
Everyone that I came into contact with (from registration, surgery, recovery, and care in my room afterward) was wonderful. Professional and personable at the same time.
I was in the ER, neuro ICU, and neuro floor in September. The staff in all places were awesome - nurses, docs, etc. It wasn't a great situation for me but they did a great job taking care of me, explaining what was going on & what was going to happen, and making sure my wife understood what was happening too. I would highly recommend Johnston-Willis, especially for anything brain related!
All was well except when we were sent to the radiology waiting room there were 8!!!! People in that pretty small room. I was not comfortable and asked if we could wait in the large waiting room. About that time a guy came out and told us we could WSU s in our car or the main waiting room. Not sure that would have happened had I not been assertive. Those girls need to monitor the number of people waiting . 20 min in a room is my max!!
Went through the emergency room and they took blood pressure and temperature right away. Then gave me a room within 5 minutes. Saw a nurse and a doctor very quickly. They did a great job.
I am one to never ever leave feed back. I always give business the benefit of the doubt and often respect policy. We are new to the area, with a special need teenager that finally got approve to start a program that will teach him social skills, daily living and so on. So again were new to area, arrive at the main hospital on time, called to find out his appointment was in a different building and a special needs child was denied being seen. Less then 10 min late, our first visit to the hospital, we never went over policy with the receptionist and he was denied even being seen. Truly unprofessional and unethical. I hate reviews and I hate being negative, but the people at Primary Specialty Group - Johnston Willis were disgraceful. Go somewhere else!!!
I recently had a surgery done here. I also had to stay for a night. The nurses on the orthopedic floor were all amazing and took very good care of me. One of the nurses we could only wish to have after surgery and her name was Greatta(I'm hoping I spelled it correct.). The admin department was very disorganized and dropped the ball on ever getting me a walker and I had to get a used one.(my insurance would have paid for the walker). Several strange things happened. They called me twice with someone else's insurance information and they threaten to make me a pay deposit of a 1k or I couldn't have the surgery. I don't even owe out of pocket that much left. I had to call the insurance company and organize it for them. And I'm not sure they have the right information even though I personally handed the card to them.
I just had a very rude Nurse tell me that I can not wait in the hallway while my wife whom is in labor was receiving her Epidural. I ve had 2 children before this, and they even let me in the room both times at another Hospital. She said we can not have visitors well I m not a visitor, I m the father. Thanks for being rude, I m sorry you hate your job!
I was very impressed by the treatment by the entire staff. Every person I came into contact with was friendly, polite and tried their best to make me comfortable and relaxed.
I had hernia repair surgery at JW and was delighted by the friendliness, helpfulness, patience, and professionalism of the entire staff, from the receptionists, to the nurses who prepped me, to the operating room team. When I was younger, hospitals were infamous for their unpleasant and uncaring staffs. Even just a few years ago, I found hospital staffs infuriating. JW's staff is to be congratulated for making my visit as good as it could be.
I was sent to J-W Hospital after experiencing some pain. It ended up being me in labor @ 22 weeks, 6 days! I delivered my son and sadly he passed away minutes later but the staff was AWESOME!!!! L & D made myself, my husband and family feel love, comfort and support. Nicole (RN) Destiny (RN) Jodi (RN) and Gina (RN) was the best EVER along with Dr. Younger. Although we lost our first born, we was in the best hands possible! I'd definitely deliver there again. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY!!!!
Nurses were wonderful - every shift. We were there for several days and they genuinely cared about your pain and progress. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I was transported to this hospital via ambulance for a possible stroke. After several hours in the er, the nurse started to wheel me away and I asked where I was going. His answer? You re being admitted. No consult with a Dr or anything.
After 36 hours in their care, and after a CT scan, MRI, echocardiogram and several blood tests, the neurologist spent a maximum of 2 minutes with me- and explained nothing. The nursing staff was abhorrent. Being that I was experiencing paralysis on my right side, I was unable to use the bathroom and instead had a pure wick. It was never emptied and I sat wet for over 6 hours still waiting to be seen by a doctor.
My husband called the hospital administration. The CEO of nursing came to my room and finally got things under control. After this debacle, I asked to be transferred to St. Mary s. The care there was at a minimum 10 stars.
Dr. Hughes and the nurses that took care of me (I wish I could remember their names right now!) were absolutely stellar. They were very kind, informative and very fun! It definitely helped ease my nerves in my very uncomfortable physical state. They walked through each process and step and kept me updated on test processes and results. My family is very lucky to have J.W. close by. Always a good experience and great people on staff! So very thankful!
This was my first time going to Johnston-Willis for the 3D mammogram. The staff was very nice, the waiting room in the Mammogram room could be a little bigger, but it looks like it may have been under construction.
The best ER experience I ve had. Jennifer Harris is a great physician and took great care of me. I wish her the best with the delivery of her baby. Whitney Boatwright was a delight with gathering information with a caring spirit. Great staff.
So I was admitted here recently for a seizure. Let me first start by saying the nurses were absolutely WONDERFUL! They were sympathetic, caring, and were very attentive to me while also checking in on me frequently. My complaint? Dr. D**ckead. I m shocked and appalled that a doctor who is so disrespectful to his patients is even employed here. This sad little man was talking to me like a child. Being blunt as he called himself is absolutely NO excuse for such disrespect towards a patient. He was not blunt, he was nasty, condescending, judge mental, and all around an obviously miserable man who seemed quite miserable to be doing his job. I was treated like a hopeless addict, because he blamed my condition on the two beers I had. Nope, wrong. 2 beers do not cause a seizure. If I hadn t been a Medicaid patient, I m certain I would have been treated better. Moral of the story, if you know nothing about your new patient, you have absolutely no right to judge and make baseless assumptions. You need to be careful how you talk to people. I hope this doctor looses his license and gets a nice big pink slip. Because he doesn t deserve to have a job.
I had my daughter there, and they were wonderful! I was induced, and had dealt with alot of different nurses, and loved them all! Dr Hyde was great too, and I appreciated the humor they used during the process! Discharge took what felt like years. That was and is my only conplaint about my stay.
Went to ER on Wed. About 4p.m. Admitted about 8 p.m. could not provide an food until 10:30 p.m. Was not offered water, change of clothes, any requirements that I should have been. Finally asked Fri. Left waiting an hour to go to bathroom. Didn t see hospitalist until Fri. Had an IV in crook of arm that was a mess and hurt like crazy. Would be a 1 star if not for one nurse. Finally had a nurse who actually took care of me Fri night. So happy to get out of there Sat.
My husband recently had a MRI at Johnston-Willis Hospital's surgery center. He has a deep brain stimulator for Parkinson's Disease and Johnston-Willis is the only location with a MRI machine capable of head-only MRIs suitable for DBS patients. The staff was wonderful and made a very scary experience less stressful.
My experience at J/W was probably the best experience I ve ever had. I m a retired nurse, used to going to places with which I m familiar. This was my first experience at J-W. My first in this area, except for non-invasive testing at John Randolph (which was also wonderful)! Thank you for your care, your caring.
My 91-1/2 year old Mother had an appointment at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 for an MRI. She arrived a few minutes early, but had to wait TWO HOURS to be registered. Absolutely no excuse for the wait. MRI technician was waiting, with no patient in site. Looks like we will be using St. Francis in the future.
Worst ever I've been back and fourth to the ER THIS IS MY SECOND TIME IN THREE DAYS GOING TO THIS HOSPITAL I HAD PAINS THAT WAS 10/10 and was told not to come back to the hospital bc dr Steven parish felt as though I was wasting his time with my pain complains and was told that my concerns was not as important as other patients. Would never go back here I would rather die at home first. Dr parish treated me like I was junkie just coming to the hospital to get pain meds(narcotic).
I was seen in the Emergency Room the day before Thanksgiving - I was having acute abdominal pain. I was screened for a temperature and triaged immediately. Within 5 minutes I was in a treatment room and being examined by a PA. Blood was drawn by the nurse (no wait for a phlebotomist to show us) and a urinalysis was taken and she had an IV running. Within 20 minutes I was in the CT lab then right back to my room. In less than 30 minutes they had the results of my CT scan and I was told that I was passing kidney stones. They administered pain meds and drugs to help with the stones. Sent my prescriptions to the local pharmacy, which I was notified by text, were ready to be picked up before I got back to the house. All in all, I was in and out in less than 3 hours. Absolute best ER I, or any of my family members, have ever been in. Superb medical staff. Efficient, understanding and professional. My daughter was considering where she wants to have her first baby - she said she s choosing Johnson-Willis!
Went in for an annual mammogram and found office staff as well as the medical technician to be friendly and professional. The valet parking was very nice as parking is normally an issue. All complements and no complaints!
The care I received before and after my total knee replacement surgery was great. The nurses and doctors explained everything to me. I was 100 percent satisfied with the care I received.
I was well cared for and all of my doctors, nurses and everyone else that I came in contact with was supportive, considerate, professional and ever-so helpful. I am very happy that I had my surgery done at Johston-Willis Hospital.
I've gone in twice for a CT scan. The first time was unbelievably quick. I was in and out in about twenty minutes. The second time I was in the waiting room for 45 minutes and then got into the CT only to be taken back out because somewhere along the way my paperwork had been misplaced. In all it was an hour and fifteen minutes
I was there for a CT scan with contrast. It would be much more convenient to pick up the liquid I needed to drink beforehand (drugstore?), so as not to arrive at the hospital 2 hrs before appt.
If I could give this hospital's ER zero stars I would, specifically there attending physician. My younger sister has well documented history seizures and has had adverse reactions to certain anti-seizure medications which again is known. A physician had the nerve to tell my mother who vocalized her concerns about placing my sister back on the medication that doctors have said is contraindicated in her case and said " Well if she has another seizure and dies it's on you". Excuse me but this is so beyond unprofessional and inappropriate to say to a mother who is just trying to advocate for her daughters well being. I am so disgusted that a physician would have the nerve to treat a pediatric patient and her parents like this. Very disappointed in this hospital and overall experience, this physician is clearly not practicing patient centered care and highlights exactly what is wrong with the physician patient relationship.
The visit was seamless, I had a wait of about 5 minutes at registration and breezed thru the whole lab work process in about 15 minutes. My previous visit was just a few minutes longer - great job!
The nurses are so warming and always checking on me. Some of my favorite nurses are Connie, Ashlee, Elissa and those are just the nurses names I remember. But all the nurses are so sweet. A room service lady: Angie is my absolute favorite, she makes me laugh every time she comes in and we have the best conversations. Thanks everyone for all of the support and help that y all contribute!
As an outpatient surgical patient, I was there for about 33 hours...in the Surgery Center...every single medical professional that I encountered as part of my medical and surgical team...with no exceptions...provided me with excellent care...from admission to discharge...And I must also give proper credit to my surgeon, Dr Nathan Guerette...an excellent Urogynecologist ...whom I would highly recommend to any woman requiring this specific medical specialty...
Thank you to all who joined in my care during my 1 day TIA visit. The nursing staff and each hospital professional involved in the testing and analysis of my health condition were excellent. Nothing but Appreciation from me and my family and our best wishes to everyone. Mike T.
Everyone from start to finish were friendly, polite and extremely helpful! I received excellent care before and after surgery! Thank you all very much!
I had outpatient laparoscopic surgery on March 22, 2019 for removal of my gallbladder. The pre-op admitting nurse, Holly, was fantastic as were all the medical staff that participated in my surgery. Dr Amy Rose, my surgeon, was terrific. She is a skilled and fantastic surgeon. This hospital and their staff are top notch.
Went in last week for a nuclear bone scan. The gentleman conducting the test was very knowledgeable and made sure I was aware of all that was happening! Thanks for calming my nerves and making the experience a positive one. Waiting for results!
I only had a Remicade infusion !!! Everything went great !!! The nurses in that department are awesome !!!! I have been coming to Johnston - Willis for years !!! And , I am always taken very good care of !!! Thank you
My experience at Johnston-Willis was top notch. Dr. Sahni and his team performed my surgery & I was admitted to and cared for in the neurological ICU for several days by an experienced, professional and caring team of medical professionals. The care I received as a patient is hands-down, the best I ve ever had. I can t compliment the nurses who cared for me enough; it is evident their heart is in their work.
As for the campus, I found the facility clean and the ongoing renovations are bringing a modern, sleek look to the campus. The cafeteria offers a vast menu and the food actually tastes good. The in-hospital Walgreens pharmacy was a nice surprise, allowing us to have meds delivered to my room before being discharged. The coffee bar provided a nice reprieve for family who spent a lot of time in waiting rooms & at my bedside during my stay.
In all, I wholly believe Johnston-Willis deserves a solid 5 of 5 stars for my most recent experience. It has easily become a facility of choice!
I had my son here a week ago and I could not be happier about how my stay was and all of my nurses were amazing and went out of their way to make sure me, baby, and daddy had everything we needed. I definitely would like to say a big thank you to Angela because she was awesome and did everything she could to make sure we were all comfortable and getting the care we needed. I will definitely be returning in the future for all of my pregnancies.
Everyone from the admitting personnel were all very nice . Also all the nurses in the ICU were all very attentive especially Cathy, Megan. They all did a nice job and on top of there game. Mike Semko
My sister who has had a traumatic brain injury, and migrains for years now was treats so horribly. My sister was admitted for a migraine a couple days ago. Migraines are severe headaches, light and sound make them worse. The doctor comes in her hospital room and throws the blanket that was covering her face off on the ground, and yelled at her for not looking at her.
My sister was in pain, and had the blanket covering her face so the light wouldn't make her headache worse.
Then the tried to discharge her when she is still in a lot of pain.
About the most incompetent place I have ever been. First they over schedule procedures to the point ours was 2 hours late getting started. During this time we were left in our room with no information or any supplemental care. Finally they come for the procedure. That takes almost twice as long as the Dr. told me. Then my wife is sent to the over night recovery room not the correct outpatient recovery room. Meanwhile I wait for information on my wife's condition. Finally I have to go through security into the recovery room for information on my wife. Seems when she was put in the wrong recovery room the overnight nurse said they couldn't care for her. They left my wife until the outpatient nurse found her. That nurse comes out and takes me back only to inform me that the wrong pain medicine has been prescribed for my wife. I explained to the nurse that we had meds at home, we just needed something for the long drive home. I finally had to take my wife out of the hospital. They couldn't get a single dose of a lesser grade pain med for my wife in a timely manner either. If we need the services of a hospital again, Johnston Willis won't be a choice. Hope you have better luck.
