Love this place! Have eaten there several times while I am in town. Close walking distance to hotel and shopping. Excited to go back.
My waiter was awesome. When we arrived they took our names shortly after we arrived another party came in. They had a party of probably 8 and we had 5. We were there for 15 mins to the other party walking in. It was a group of caucasians and we were black. Management took them to their table right away. I then proceeded to ask one of the managers why were they seated before us she brushed me off and said "she needs to talk to the other manager. The other manager finally came to the front of the restaurant and she ask her why and then both start speaking there language so we wouldn't understand. I felt so disrespected and this is a place where I go quite often. I'm going to take this to corporate.
Chevys has went down the food at one time was really good. They need to expand the menu
Food not good, service was horribly slow (snail like), horrible experience
Very narrow parking slots.
Friendly & helpful but menu changed and smaller. Must be new mgmt.
Short version: don't go here if there's any wait for a table, and don't go here if you like genuinely good TexMex. The food was good enough, but the wait on a Sunday late afternoon was obnoxious. They said 20-30 minutes at the hostess stand, but at 22 minutes said "It'll be another 29 minutes. Then they apparently called us 8 minutes later, and wrote "No show" next to our name because we were at the bar by that point. The bar took forever, the food took forever, the check...we were there 2 1/4 hours for what would have been 90 minutes at any other Mexican restaurant in the area (many of which have better food). On the positive side: the staff was kind and courteous when we saw them, and the food was fine (though not special in any way).
What the heck happened to their salsa ? It use to be great now it's like red mush. Terrible taste.
Great margaritas, great view, exelent ambient, exelent service
Considering it's Chevys
Food ok, service ok if Chevys is ok for you. Place has good parking, with very good water views. 4 stars because sometimes the Machino is not working and it takes for ever to get your fresh tortillas with your orders.
They're OK. Too busy and not enough staff. Could be an awesome stop with more attention on customers.
Since we don't have a Chevys in Walnut Creek, we went to their location in Emeryville for my daughter's birthday. She really wanted to go there. They seated us immediately, and all the staff were very pleasant. Our server was excellent, and we would definitely return.
Good service but the food quality is not that good anymore
Great happy hour. Awesome location looking out over the bay.
Did pickup of Taco Combo. They forgot to put tortillas in order. Had to go to store before serving. Was good but disappointed in order this time.
Service was very slow, seemed understaffed, not very clean.
They usually have great service but I called to ask a simple question and someone named, Fabiola answered and she was extremely rude. She just hung up on me without letting me speak.
Cool place to grab something to eat. Great views. Nice place to catch a game
Pricey but good quality customer service and the authenticity of food is sub par. Probably would not go back but ambiance is nice for large groups - somewhat noisy.
I got the shrimp tacos and it tasted like so much fish Badfish
I love coming here for cocktails and/or a meal to watch the sunset over the bay. The food is a little pricey but good and the service is excellent. I came here at night a couple months ago and discovered a broken window on my car when I was leaving. Nothing was stolen because I didn't have anything in my car but I had to pay $500 to get the window repaired. I went back for dinner tonight after thinking twice because I didn't really want to pay for another broken window but decided to give it another chance because what is the likelyhood it would happen twice in a row? We pulled into a spot across the parking lot from where I parked last time and realized that both cars on either side of us had broken windows (I reported the break-ins to the manager when we got inside). We ended up parking in the lot down the street under a bright light and thankfully came back to a car with no broken windows after our meal. The parking lot in front of the restaurant is not very well lit, the parking spots are very narrow, and most of them are right next to tall bushes that are very easy for people to hide in. If you go here to eat especially at night, don't leave anything at all in your car.
Good food, good ambiance, nice free item for celebrating the Warriors win. But service was super slow, especially when it was time to pay. Not ideal for a luncu break.
Pretty good food and reasonable prices. I ordered steak fajitas and the steak came sizzling to the table. The steak was tender and had lots of seasoning. My margarita was tasty if not a bit weak. Guacamole and salsa were good, but the chips a bit thin. Overall a very good experience.
Was seated at table, then waited 25 minutes, was passed multiple times by servers, never once was told it would be a moment, nothing. Finally left after stopping to tell Manager about lack of service.
I always forget that this place isn't quite the texmex I remember
I liked the good service and the food tasted very good. I recommend the guacamole.
The chili-mango Margarita is the best reason to come here. Oh and the view is spectacular on a date!
Service is slow other than that, great place to watch the WARRIORS!!!!
After waiting for 30min for table they kicked out us.
Service was good before but service was bad this day and it was me and my wife's anniversary so you don't get extra points I just give you mediocre
Food good
Waitress super nice
The food and service were excellebt. There was even a bonus, I left my lights on and my battery was dead. An angel who worked there went out of her way and had jumper cables and jumped my car.
Food is ok most of the time but sometimes food is rushed and bad service
Kids eat free on Thursday nights, great deal. Makes up mostly for pretty high prices. Good servers, solid food.
Except this time when we went we've always had the best service we're from out of town and our service was pretty bad I have to keep asking for tortillas butter and if I asked him I would have to wait about 5 minutes and then I would have to remind him again I noticed one of the waiters that was attended me attended everybody else jn good manner except me and my daughter but that one that will not stop me I will continue going there when I go for business thank you very much
Overall great, had lovely service. My 3 combo plate wasn't great though, greasy soft chicken tacos like I wrung them out and had to build a dam with my napkin to keep the grease out of the way. It's a plate I've been ordering for 20yrs. I guess I will go back to the fallback fajitas.
Good view, food and customer service is Alright. Bit expensive but good for couples and large group.
I have always liked Chevy's! Good food, nice bar, good place to hang out!
I know the food will be great and all.. but I've been waiting on a waiter for 40 minutes now. No hello, no drinks, no nothing. It's not too busy so I don't quite understand. Not trying to bash, but either step up the employee count or teach them to welcome at least!!
I like the servers both karinia And Hilario and also I like the food. Both servers are kind I m glad that I visit this restaurant
Food was good our server was great!! The greeters were not very good!! We had reservations and we had to wait an additional 15 minutes past our reserved time. Had to tell we have been waiting to be seated!!
food is pretty good. Service is average. Servers are in their own world. Slow to check if you have everything you need. Very eager to get a tip though. Meh
Good food and friendly service in a location that is easy to access off the freeway. Parking is very tight. While Chevy's food good quality and consistently good, it is commercially produced and certainly not what you would call authentic. Having said that, their drinks are great and their chips and salsa is awesome. Missing one star because the place was dirty. It was very busy, but you can tell when the grime builds up that it's just not kept up.
Service is always slow, doesn't matter what time of day or night. But always a good vibe, good food & margaritas. The view is fab as well. Just don't be in a hurry.
No table-made guacamole, happy hour drinks and appetizers, ok.
Lively and festive place. Tortillas fresh from "el machino"
attention is on the floor and people are selected not to mix with Latinos
Made me sick to my stomach! My grandma was not able to eat her food after waiting 45 mins to be served. NEVER going back!
It's like their food and service gets worse every time!
I had a long time not to come to this place, but I did not like to return, my waiter had so many tables that he could not bring us a peace of coffee, and I got a hair in my chips obviously not wanting to go back
I enjoy this Chevys location, because it has a great view of the S.F. Bay. The service was pretty good, and the food is tasty. The bar provides great drinks!
Not sure if this was a bad day for Chevys but the service was not good. Had to complain to the management 3 times. Comp drinks do not make up for bad service.
View and service very nice....food...the worst. ..what a waste of a nice place.
Horrible food
What happened to chevys
Slow seating and service in the Cantina. We were told by the hostess to wait for a seat if we wanted one by the window. No problem, we were fine with that. She put our name on the list on which we were next and were are the only couple. After waiting over 20 minutes and seeing two window tables sitting to be cleaned a table of three pushed their way in and sat at the window table as soon as it was cleaned. They notuced and we were seated at gave us the next table. We sat down and had no service after 10 minutes my husband walked up to the bar and ordered our margaritas. To sum it up we had our first margarita after 30 minutes and our first chips and salsa after 40 minutes. The service and food was slow. They made the wrong margarita. It took over two hours to eat at this place and that was not what we were expecting for a relatively quiet Sunday.
Our waiter Kendrick was very nice and so was the rest of the staff. Service was actually great but that's where the great ends. The food was pretty bad, for some reason every item was very sweet almost candy like. The view which is one of the biggest attractions was honestly not very good either.
The food was excellent and the service as well was excellent!!!!
We left after waiting 25 minutes for someone to take our order. The went out of their way to ignore us.
We went here for dinner on a weeknight. The service was bad! The hostess, the waitress... All bad. We waited a looooong time after we got our fajitas for some frikken tortillas. It's crazy that they charge so much for such a small portion of food just because it's on a special platter. We're not going back to chevys.
Nice location, food is okay. I sat at bar and had good service.
For views and wait time I give a 2. Walked in last night it was fairly busy but normal for a Saturday evening, especially being right on the water facing the sun set. Was seated with in 10 mins which was amaizing. But my waiter was terrible. I mean really bad. Took 30 minutes before he finally came to take a drink order, we had already choose the food so we order it right away. 45 min later drinks were gone, another 15 before the waiter came by and mind you didnt stop at our table even though we pushed the empty cups to the end of the table. So as he passed by after helping anoter table we flagged him down. 10 more min and the food shows up... cold. 2 of 3 plates were cold. One was fish and was undercooked and mising the chipotle aioli sauce. So guess what... another 15 for that. Never ate the plate. At least the prices were decent, I believe around $45 for 3 dinners and 2 drinks. Likely will not be returning.
With the exception of one waitress, their service was bad, slow. It seems they do not really care much whether business happens. The food was nothing out of the ordinary, and some of it came cold to the table.
Happy hour was great..drinks the bomb get a lot of food for half price friendly service
Chevy's has always been a childhood favorite but I feel their quality has diminished over the years. Still, it's a good spot for chips and salsa and a beer!
Chevy's is great, flautas tasty. Our server Hilario was very friendly. Recommend!
Been here several times before; service and food had been fine on my other times at this location of Chevy's in Emeryville. But tonight Dec. 2 everything was completely the opposite, service was way below than unless ok, food was cold and was not brought to the table together, it was served in episodes. It wasn't like the restaurant was pack because there were several open tables. We even had to get up and look for silverware and to ask for our drinks. In overall everything was a disappoint on tonight's dinner at Chevys.
Fantastic waterfront seating with my wife, a little unwind lunch from xmas. Tasha was our server and was on it all the way!!
