A lot of compounds were void of any animals maybe due to the heat, some areas had " no one at home". Elephant compound was excellent and they had young elephants being feed by the adults. Maybe we were just unlucky on the day but it was expensive for what we saw on the day.

Possibly our favourite zoo in the UK. Very large and can easily spend a whole day here. Various talks and able to watch lots of the animals being fed throughout the day. The food options are okay and the unlimited drink cup is a must buy as after 2 refills you've pretty much made your money back.

Seems they show the best bits on secret life of the zoo. Loads of the exhibits closed. The weather was atrocious, so you can't expect all the animals to be out. But even ones that were inside couldn't be seen. Staff were nice enough and helpful.

Amazing day out for all ages really good fun animals are well looked after by the keepers and staff are very helpful. Prices are higher than average but tis what you expect from a great tourist attraction and conservation centre.

Disappointed to celebrate my son's third birthday here today. Staff and facilities were brilliant, but the social distancing measures just not enforced. Not the staff or zoo's fault, but there seemed to be an awful lot of people just crammed in and going where they liked without concern for others. Very stressful and a real shame, as we had been looking forward to this day out for a long time.

Chester Zoo is an amazing place to take the kids! Unfortunately at the moment the indoors animals aren't accessible, and all significant catering had been removed (snack/coffee/ice-cream still available).

Recommended for anyone and everyone to go though, we need to support this expensive to run charity in any way we can.

The Chester zoo is one of the best i had been to and was very close to 5 stars if it wasnt for a few issues

The maps and app for the zoo are easily accessible and offer a great range of information on each animal, there is a vast range of different animals and all seemed to be stimulated within their enclosures

one of the issues is the enclosure size, some of the enclosures are huge but dont belong to the animals that could really use it, however this is a common problem for most zoos

There are talks and feedings going on within the day with information posted at major walk ways with when and where the talks are

When it comes to eating there are several eating areas with a decent range of choice, however the second issue is that the food is over priced, the staff also dont listen to orders, a major consern is that the sandwich i brought had been cross contaminated with other sandwich meats and sauces, such as gammon in my turkey sub which is worrying in the case of allergy and diet restrictions so a packed lunch may be in order!

Over all i would recommend the zoo to both families and friends and the two issues we experienced did not ruin the day

Excellent day out, only reason 4/5 could do with more animals and attractions for the size of site but overall excellent value for money! Great staff and animals look very healthy and looked after

Best zoo in the UK, lots of changes since we've last been and all made it a better experience. Will be back again when more of the work has been completed. Social distancing measures seemed to work and there wasn't much we couldn't get in to see.

Excellent Zoo all the conservation work is so valuable to save extinction of some species
Really big and hard to see in a day
This was our first visit and we will definitely go back to visit the other half and the new attractions that weren't open when we visited this time
Recommend booking the priority parking near the entrance as all the disabled spaces were full

Chester Zoo has adjusted well to COVID-19. The one way system in place makes it a lot safer, as well as social distancing, masks in enclosed areas and attendees on hand spread out within the zoo, including volunteers who did a sterling job. Lots of animals to see in huge, clean enclosures.

Had a brilliant time here. There are lots of things to see and do and the staff are friendly. However on a weekday most of the stalls that serve food and drinks are shut so buying a refillable drink was a complete rip off as the park is so big and i had to walk everywhere to refill which defeated the whole point of me buying one.

Went for Xmas light night, walking around the complex looking at constructed and illuminated animals for youngsters. Worth it's weight in gold when you see the joy and amazement in your granddaughters face. She could not huge the people dressed as illuminated animals enough.

I'd not been there for many years and was very pleased to see how much the place and animal conditions have improved.
We went into the butterfly house and were delighted to have lots of big brightly coloured butterflies flying around us and some even landing on us.
We even met some of the staff who we'd seen on TV in .....

Not a cheap outing! Map was essential for exploring, but I still needed to ask the helpful staff for directions. I visited on a lovely sunny day in February so many animals were happily outdoors. One or two areas were not yet open, but plenty to see.

Best zoo in the UK. Amazing open enclosures, so good to see the staff really care for them. We was really lucky to see most the animals out despite the rainy weather. Staff and volunteers really go out their way to tell you information about the animals. Plenty of hand sanitiser and procedures put in place during covid to provide social distancing. Can t wait to return

It looks like a place where the Staff really love the Animals & I know I'm on record stating that Animals like this should be in Normal places like in Africa but I sopose I was thinking more of these disgusting so called circuses etc while I found Chester Zoo very good*****

Plenty to do, didn't manage to see everything even tho there for 6 hours. Some animals not out. Monorail a good distraction when kids get tired. This is an extra charge for half of the track, then if you want to do the second half you have to pay again. You can buy tickets online which does save money but you have to use it twice. Theres also an extra charge for the Treetops area but children are harnessed and can stay there as long as they want to. There are other play areas as well. The boat ride in the tiger area is free but you have to queue although this does move quite quickly. Face painting is extra but they do a lovely job .

We pre-booked our tickets. Car park was not signed clearly which meant everyone was queuing at the incorrect entrance due to poor signage. We arrived at 10am the elephants were not out until later. Plenty of sanitizer stations. At every toilet there was a member of staff to ensure face masks were worn. Did not see the jaguars or tiger not sure where they were hiding. Only two areas to eat. At June s food court mainly fish n chips and burgers which were ok but expensive no meal deals. No refill options. Best to take a picnic and plenty of benches. Overall, a great way to end the summer holidays.

The best Zoo I've ever been to!!!! Really!!

The best Zoo I've ever been to!!!! Really!!
I have been to so many zoos all over Germany and for me this Zoo was worth its money... It's quite expensive thought but when I saw the huge effort they put into the cages and enclosures I thought the animals have such a big and natural area to stay and live in...
We saw two baby elephants playing outside, we saw the penguins so close because there is an under water pool where you can see the penguins through the glass from the outside... The giraffes were so close and so beautiful and the rhino baby looked so calm and happy next to her mum... They had Tapir babys and we were able to watch them getting fed... And the jaguars had a little rainforest with waterfall indoors... So nice!! The best was the bats-house... Such a big building where you can watch the bats while they are flying around you... This was amazing!! I've never been so close to so many and so huge bats! Loved it!
I loved the design of the walking areas... Very modern!! Bamboo trees and wood everywhere, everything tidy and clean.
Thumbs up, I was really impressed!

I have been a member for 3 years or so and its totally worth it. Even if you go once or twice a year you've practically covered the cost of the membership. I'm looking forward to the next visit. All my kids of various ages love Chester zoo. Coffee lovely but food quite pricey thats the only downfall to me but the children's play parks are fantastic.

Chester zoo is one of my favourites. I have been twice now and each time I go I see an animal that I never knew existed. They are kept in wonderful enclosures that are so big and enriching compared to other places that I have been. The day we went was wet and murky but that did not spoil our day at all. Not all of the enclosures were open due to the covid restrictions but we still spent six hours there looking round. It is a great day out and we will be back.
