A great selection of animals and looks well maintained. Only critism is there was a lack of maps so you could check where you were.

Amazing if you love animals, try the new Lemur enclosure its ace..
The lantern walk was absolutely amazing. My Granddaughter loved it and even got to 'meet' a big bird and a super sweet squirrel. Fantastic memories were made that night.
Great zoo. All ages will have a great day out. Wear comfy shoes and take a packed lunch. Go as soon as it opens to try and see as much as possible.
Fantastic family day out especially with the new lemur enclosure
Lots of hygiene precautions, but heaving with people who didn't wear masks or social distance.
Big, open, so much to see, the keepers are doing a great job and the zoos contribution to conservation is amazing. Well looked after and beautiful place. Due to reduced numbers and social distancing there is a lot less people in the park so that makes it easier to get around and see all the animals.
Its just an amazing place for young to old. The Zoo are doing a fantastic conservation for the animals x
Didn't think I would enjoy a zoo at my age but thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Going in with the Bats and the ring-tailed Lemars was awesome. Spent the whole day walking around would definitely recommend.
Staff were great. A bit over priced .. They see u coming I can tell ya. If u like to c caged animals then go here.
Always a great way to spend a day, Chester zoo has an excellent selection of animals with some fabulous enclosures. The staff and volunteers are all very knowledgeable and friendly and always happy to engage with interested visitors.
The zoo has a great selection of playgrounds and there are always extra kids activities during the school holidays. The Lego animals and animatronic dinosaurs were particular highlights this year.
The zoo has a good selection of places to eat and drink. Manado street kitchen on the islands is a favourite for food and the best coffee can be found in the Jaguar Cafe.
Best zoo amazing enclosures. You need two days to get around really.
Fantastic place as expected. Expensive just for the day but if local enough the membership seems good value as it can be great in summer. We went whilst it was snowy which meant there were a few animals inside, but that didn t change anything. Fantastic day.
Very nice habitats for the animals, but not many animals in them. Slightly disappointed with our day out, but wouldn't put anyone off from going.
Best Zoo I've ever been to. Had a fantastic day. Well looked after animals with loads of room, great place. Not cheap, but worth it
Great day out, even with colder weather plenty to see
Very Good Zoo. Our second time of visit and going from strength to strength. Despite large crowds arriving we where processed very very quickly. Animals and there preservation work is excellent.
I really enjoyed my time at Chester Zoo. Best Zoo I've been to. All of the animals were out and coming up close to us, unlike some zoos where you're lucky to even get a glance at them! The newborn baby elephant was so cute! The newly built areas including the boat ride that takes you 'around the world' were great fun. The food options in the cantene were quite expensive though, with no cheaper option. Would recommend bringing lunch. Apart from that I love this Zoo and I will definitely be going back again!
Had a great time walking around the Zoo. Lots of animals and enclosures to see and interact with.
Awesome place and being s member also helps as we can take the kids for a couple of hours whenever we want.
Lovely place idea for a quick walk as we are members and live local
As a family, we are members here.
Very easy to keep returning and have a different day out each time, as different animals can be out.
You can spend all day there or pop round a section of the zoo in a couple of hours when it s quieter and do the rest another time.
Highly recommended!
Enjoyable visit as always. Early closing because of Lanterns Event. No problem though.
Animals have generally large enclosures, excellently cared for
Always seem to enjoy chester zoo but on this occasion a lot of the cages seemed empty. Now I know you cant make the animals put themselves on view but maybe they could find a way of addressing this
Great day out with friends... Loads to see and do..
We went to the lanterns expecting it to be in a small section of the zoo bit it was spread over the whole zoo. All of my children from age 10 to 2 loved it. Will definitely go again
Great place, you should take the free map with a pinch of salt
Brilliant to see all the animals, well organised, although there were a lot more people there than I expected. Loads of sanitisating stations and keep to the left markings on the pathways, if only everyone would keep to it. Lots of places to either have your picnic or eat from the takeaways , which we did and the food was excellent. All in all a great place to visit
Lovely zoo. You won't get round in one day unless you make a concerted effort. Kids loved the play areas, and the ice cream was yummy. Lots of easy to find information on the animals
Love chester zoo. Despite temperatures of below zero we saw the majority of animals that we planned to see. These included lions, an elephant, jaguar, meerkat, and orangutan amongst many others
Perfect day out. Best zoo I ve visited, not only for the animals but what they do for conservation!
Had a fabulous day at Chester zoo .social distancing in place .we took a.picnic with us . Well worth a visit . Well done Chester zoo .
Such a fun day out with a huge variety of interesting and exotic animals to see!
Absolutely fantastic day for both adults and kids. Easy to find with good parking. The animals are well cared for and easy for the kids to see. You can take a picnic or buy fast food. Staff are really friendly and helpful. You'll be tired at the end of the day.
Best zoo in the country by a mile. Friendly and helpful staff and amazing animals to see
Had a lovely evening for the Lanterns, great idea around Christmas for families. Hut provided for food. Shop is open. Would definitely attend again.
Always a great place to visit. A membership is well worth it as it doesn't mean you have to visit everything in one day
Really nice day out for the family lots to enjoy! Highly recommended!
Its wonderful to see all the animals are well looked after. From the smallest Poison Dart Frog to the largest Elephant. What's also great is when you go into an enclosure, there is someone to tell you the fascinating facts about the animals.
Fantastic day. Superb animals super enclosures. The best zoo I have ever been to
Amazing place for the whole family :) long day but worth it
Brilliant place for children and adults, highly recommended
Went again April 2019 school holidays with two grand children who loved every minute and were exhausted after their many turns around the various enclosures.
Although meals are generally expensive as is the entry price (slightly more at this particular time but reduced by online booking) at this time we felt it an extremely fulfilling day.
Really well looked after animals and plenty to see and do. We spent around 6 hours there and it felt like 10 minutes!
Same old all the zoos are the same. However there were tons of missing animals in the enclosures. Maybe it's just the time of year but the entire islands section (purple) was a bit if a waste of time. Attractions like the lazy river etc were all closed off for maintenance. Lots of toilets which is a plus. Be careful about going on the weekend as it gets incredibly busy after 10am and the queues for restaurants are enormous.
Great day out for the family plenty to see really enjoyable day
Was told on arrival that it was only the Flamingos that were closed, only too find out that the monorail, boats weren't running either and all the animals on the islands apart from tigers and cassowary's weren't there and a hell of a lot of maintenance going on throughout the zoo. Been there loads, and have had a hell of a lot better experiences but this time around it didn't seem worth the amount of money spent!
It's a nice zoo more to see that most zoos but through all the measures in place I'd keep away went end of august, waited in massive ques to see tigers and couldn't see them when got there anyway, the monkey house que was huge if wet or cold not a very nice wait and had staff keep on at people to distance in spaces near impossible on a plus the elephants are Brill
Best zoo in UK. Variety of animals to visit with educational boards and signs. Butterflies room is my favourite.
Great place loved it all the staff were nice and friendly
First visit for fifteen years with out the kid. Just as fantastic as before thoroughly recommend brilliant day
Watch the giraffe on the right he means business.
Also my kids thought they'd see Pepper Pig, Simba and at least one of the Dalmatians, so loses a star for that
Good for the children so much better than last year now waiting for next year
It's good but maybe more people dotted about for if you need directions on the park? More gluten free options at the restaurants but more importantly the staff need to know this aswell for when public ask questions!
Good day out though. Maybe annoucments for when feeding times are etc so don't miss out
Really love place to visit to see animals from all over the world. Huge zoo takes hours to walk around it
Opened again, since the Covid lockdown. Well organised with social distancing. Felt safe and good day out.
Amazing display of animals and wonderfully designed habitats
Excellent day out. Lots to see as excellent covid practices
Amazing zoo. Absolutely huge so make sure you get there early if you want to see everything
Well organized, lots of staff visible. Zoo keepers available for question answering. Animals looked happy and easily observed.
Amazing place, so many endangered animals. They are doing great job and animals are kept in large nice fields having a safe space to hide from human sight when want some privacy.
One of the world's best zoos. Amazing habitats. Healthy, active, and clean animals. Lots of open areas and interactive stuff for the kids.
Great loads to do and so much to see full day of fun food really nice
Went on a rainy day but still saw all animals having fun, lots of stuff to see and do, New section nice to go around
This was my second visit to the zoo. It was a chilly day so there weren't too many people which was good. We got to see quite a few of the animals and the staff were very helpful.
As you'd expect, food and drink isn't cheap but there are plenty of picnic tables to bring your own. At this time of year an indoor picnic space would have been good but I didn't find one.
I'd like to go back when it's a bit warmer and there are more animals out and about.
Very good enclosures and interesting selection of animals. I just wish that these kinds of places would learn that they would make more money by selling food and souvenirs at reasonable prices instead of charging 30 to 50 percent more than normal. Lower your prices and increase your sales and you will also have happier customers.
Went to see Chester zoo lanterns, absolutely beautiful, well worth a visit, brilliant for kids and adults and great value for money, will definitely be going next year
Great fun, huge place! My son loves the orangutan baby coming to say hello!
Had a lovely day but i think you need more than one day to completely cover this zoo.
Bigger than you d expect with plenty of animals...the elephant, tigers, and lions are amazing to see...there s also a bat cave when you enter you can glimpse little bats sweeping past you in the dark.
Fantastic place for the whole family and plenty to see and do
For a zoo there wasn't that many animals! Nice grounds though
The Bat enclosure was brilliant.. but couldn't do it all in one day
Not as I rememberrd as a child. Most enclosures provide natural habitat consequently a lot of animals not easy to see. Still a good day out and if you like walking you will soon clock up the miles.
