I don't think numbers have been reduced to allow social distancing. The car park was full giving you some idea of the numbers there. Yes I can understand the need for income but not at the cost of safety

Not wheelchair friendly at all!! Staff were helpful dealing with my complaint but was unable to see majority of animals due to not being able to get over bridges etc due to wheelchair wheels getting stuck in the gaps. Very stressful day

Absolutely incredible zoo! To have witnessed the conditions in other zoos across the world and compare them to Chester Zoo, really highlights how excellent it is here! The animals are always well cared for, the exhibits are always clean and spacious, and the conservation work that the zoo does is crucial.
Autumn and Spring are both great times to visit the zoo as the animals tend to be more active during these two seasons.
Overall I cannot express how incredible this zoo is and you will undoubtedly experience that for yourself when visiting Chester Zoo.

This is the best zoo we've ever been too. The animals look happy and not bored. Enclosures are very well thought out. There is so much to see you need a full day there. All round the zoo are lovely little picnic areas and food and drink kiosks. Wonderful. Xx

This is the best Zoo we have visited so far. It has catered for everything, all the facilities were clean and well stocked up.
The animal enclosures were fantastic.
It is a great family day out and well worth the money.
We will definitely be visiting it again.

As a massive fan of otters Chester place is a great zoo even if I am a bit older than most people who go there and probably get a bit more enthusiastic than they do :D visited this place a couple times and also seen their islands section of the zoo which is great but could have been a bit bigger in some areas

During this current crisis they are treating loyal membership like the stuff they sweep up every morning. Not only are we paying and unable to get access, when I renewed my monthly DD they took the full annual amount and now no one is ever available to sort it out. Had to complain via my bank... at they are answering phones during this time

Really disappointed! Travelled for 7 days on a narrowboat in order to be here today! The weather was absolutely wonderful. The zoo however was not! Hardly saw any animals, a number of exhibits were closed! No one sticking to the 2 meter guide lines and there seem to be an awful lot of people! Apart from the main maps dotted sporadically around the zoo, we had no idea where we were going. All the usual maps were null and void because of the one way system. The staff just said download the map on to our phones. Have you ever tried using your phone as a map! On the plus side the staff were very helpful! However on the whole I would score today's visit a 2 out of 10.

Its been marked low because we saw more wildlife in, on and around the canal on the trip up here!

Tough times during Covid but still a great family day out with very important work being done for the conservation of endangered animals world wide . You need a mask and have to queue for all in door attractions but this is a small price to pay , there are also busy lines for food and beverage . Ample free parking , lots of picnic areas for sunny days , booking is essential for non members but considering the times its to be expected .

This is one of my favourite zoos in the country. There is a massive variety of animals, with good sized, well thought out enclosures. The zoo always has some sort of event on, and they are constantly improving and upgrading habitats, so every time we go, there is always something new to see or do. It's conservation work and breeding successes are fantastic as well. It has everything I could ask for in a zoo.

Brilliant zoo with a huge variety of animals.

Brilliant zoo with a huge variety of animals.
- All the animals have really large enclosures and seem happy
- The keepers are all helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about their animals
- Its a very easy place to get around with young ones or in wheelchairs without having a different experience
- There is a free boat trip in the islands section, which is lovely and sedate.
- The orangutans and chimps have wonderful enclosures and seem very stimulated.

Overall I couldn't recommend this zoo more. It takes about 6 hours to see everything if you're on foot and you'll want to see everything it has to offer. Shout out to Claire and Andy the Tiger Talk people, you're both awesome and your passion for your job is infectious

Unfortunately because of the ongoing work, it was easy to get lost due to changes in the routes. We felt that there could have been more sign posts. Having said that , we found all the staff and volunteers to be very helpful. One day was not enough! We'll be back !!

Awful day today. 1 hour waiting in the queue for food and there was no where to sit. Very rude staff. Animals we could not see. No signs advertising things that were shut until you actually got to it. The islands were non existent when we got to it. We weren't made aware of the state of play there. It looked derelict. Out of all the animals you were supposed to see, we saw only a bear. 80 quid we paid for this for a birthday treat. Very unimpressed today.

Was ok but paid full price and nothing was open as doing it all up. Should of been half price. Was nice in summer tho. Food is very expensive take your own packed lunch if don t want to spend the earth. Easy parking and free of charge. Some staff abit rude others happy to help.

Although the indoor is closed. The outdoor is as wonderful as ever. They are letting in 4,500 to 5000 people at anyone day. So there is plenty of space even with the odd person forgetting the world we live in now. Had an wonderful day and cannot wait to return again. Good job chester zoo staff !

Absolutely amazing place. Arrived in the afternoon and spent the whole day there! I recommend it to anyone who has not been. Rules and regulations for social distancing are quiet good at the moment! Worth the money and time ! Keep it up Chester zoo

Fantastic place to see. I'm ways a little indifferent about animals in enclosures but all said and.done they are very well looked after and visiting these animals helps keep them protected so I suppose there is a silver lining

Always a pleasure to come here, also with all the covid-19 they have done especially well in keeping to the guidelines for this and the 2 meters apart, really enjoyable would definitely be coming back with being a yearly pass holder

Brilliant enclosures and excellent staff... However, the lack of sign posts and directions made things very frustrating and confusing. The map bore little relevance to the actual zoo and added to the confusion. The zoo is very wheelchair friendly and the wheelchair hire was very useful.

Best selection of wildlife out of any zoo I've been to. May seem expensive but it's definitely value for money, could easily spend all day there. Experiences to get really close to animals. Perfect for families or just going with friends and partners. Will definitely go again soon. Even bought gift vouchers for friends for their wedding gift as they love it too!

Absolutely massive. Spent 7 hours there and still didn't see every exhibit. Enclosures are huge and the animals all seem very well cared for. Also the donuts are great. Only issue is trying to find your way out at the end of the day!

Had an amazing time! Lots of exhibits and animals to see. Toilets are easily accessible and in various places, same as snacks. The hot dogs were really yummy too!

We took a boat ride in order to rest and have a chance at seeing the tiger, but ended up at being a quiet, peaceful ride. We saw a few monkeys and ducks.

A lot of children though so be ready for loads of sounds and screeches. Especially around the dining areas.

Plenty of map marked places to smoke as well.

Love going to Chester zoo. We have annual membership and go all the time. The animals look well looked after and enclosures clean always updating and adding new animals. Got lots of endangered animals. Zoo is really clean. Gardens are beautiful. Try some of the cheshire farm ice cream it's gorgeous. Love seeing all the new baby animals. A great day out. Although if you've not been before it takes a whole day to get round it all. Well recommended.

A very good place for a family day out, a vast collection of animals some rare , from around the world , well looked after . Interesting for kids and adults alike. The staff were helpful and polite. All in all a very good day out.

Such a great place and we spent the whole day there and that is with some of the displays being closed. Not as many maps as you would hope though so make sure you take a pic with your phone to keep you right and make sure you don't miss anything! Great coffee and nice food but it was a slightly reduced menu with the current situation but not an issue unless you are really fussy.

What can you say, it's Chester Zoo. Absolutely amazing day out.

The covid social distancing measures put in place were very good and still allowed for a good day out and allowed for good views of the animals.

Beautifull zoo. First time have seen elephants and giraffs on the free range so close. Looks like the have nice conditions there. Prepare your wallet because its not the cheapes place. Better book in advance on website. I didnt undersand why the spread water on chimpanze place where people walk. Its hard to observe them in this conditions. Also could prepare better quality food service inside. I know its for animals, not food but spending there couple of hours you will become hungry. Would be nice to have something more than bun+sausage as a hotdog. Please add some extras because its too dry and mono taste. Always repeat - vegetables, vegetables and....vegetables.

A great day out if you like zoos .Some things need changing for the better some enclosures lack appropriateness, needs a more imaginative manager and money. The water quality of the moats, ponds and aquariums is questionable-- they have always struggled in this area.
