Absolutely love this zoo, free parking loads of animals friendly staff plenty of toilets and snack bars and clean environment and the variety of animals is really good for the price of entry I've been to other zoos and not felt like it was even worth the entrance fee so if I goto the zoo I would drive the extra distance just to go here

As always enjoy the day at Chester zoo. Be prepared for walking and now with cv19 queuing to get into the indoor animal sections. Queues, cleaning (hand sanitisers) stations every where, staff assistance through out keeping everyone safe. Less animals about, due more to weather (keeping out of sun) than anything. Plenty people about so keep safe Nd aware around you. But follow the zoo guidelines and you can still enjoy the day. A great day as always, staff happy to engage in conversation about their animals. Another lovely visit, back again I will again and again. Bring a picnic, or enjoy either of the 2 Cafe that are open. Nice to see the animlas again :-)

The main reason for attending was to see the black Jaguar, my son's favourite animal. As soon as we arrived we immediately headed to "Spirit of the Jaguar", however we didn't see her. I spoke to one of the zoo keepers who advised that she liked to pace around first thing in the morning to mark her territory and then in the evening. We went back at about 5 and we finally saw her.
Amazing day out. The best zoo in England that I have ever visited. I stayed in Chester over night to visit the park over two days, and the only negative point is that there was soo much to see that 2 days weren't enough....I need to now go back now!!
All the zoo keepers are so friendly, it never seemed awkward or a chore to answer any questions. All the keepers were from different ages groups and I never felt that any of them were there to earn a few bob to spend at the weekend, I truly believe they loved being there. This and the arrangement of the zoo makes it very special.
On our second day one of the keepers told us what time they would be feeding "Goucha" the black Jaguar on that day so we headed there at the time and was amazed to see her feed.
I would love to go back again once the boat ride and train is in operation. The boat ride through Asia looked so amazing like your actually in Vietnam or somewhere so I'd love to experience the actual ride. All the animal enclosures seemed really well thought out to recreate the animals natural habitat, which makes the experience seem as natural as possible and great for kid's education.
A drive 4 hours to see Chester zoo... definitely worth it. Loved it and would love to go back.

We have family memberships and go regularly. It's a beautiful day out and especially the lanterns towards the end of the year. We attended them for the first time this year and wow! We were not disappointed. The lanterns are beautiful. And we will be rebooking again for 2020. It took us an hour to go around and even got to see Santa :) its busy but not so busy that you can't enjoy it. It's a good atmosphere :) on a normal day there is an array of animals to see, little food and drink places and souvenir shops dotted about. Throughout the day there are information talks about certain animals. Theres plenty to see and it's perfect for a day out. You can take a picnic and there are designated picnic areas. There are also a few play parks for the children to let off a bit of steam too :)

Even in the rain it is a fantastic day out. Animals were either sleeping or outside braving the weather. Tons of staff to talk to and answer your questions. Prices reasonable in shops and restaurants.

Best zoo in Britain the new play areas sand and water near the lions are great. So many animals all look really happy and so many babies must be good. The new penguin enclosure is brilliabt for viewing them swimming.

Sensational zoo! The animals were very entertaining and the enclosures were in great condition/had very informative signage. Unfortunately, some of the catering staff were rude and the food wasn't all that tasty for the price. Take a packed lunch and you'll have a five star day!

Amazing zoo and does wonderful conservation work and participates in breeding programmes. Great facilities,, eating here can be a wee bit pricey but a packed lunch eliminates that. Arrive early to take advantage of the good parking and your day flies by

There are some place where you go for a family day out, others where you go to just take the kids, others where you go as a couple and some where you go to just be by yourself. Chester Zoo is one of those rare and wonderful places on the earth where no matter which of the above you fit in, it's the right place for you, with the incredible bonus of being great value for money. When it we went it was dry, then it rained, then it chucked it down and none of that matters because some how all the wonderful creatures knew we were there, and they put on an incredible show and display that endeard them to us as a couple even more than the TV ever could. Will we ever go again though? Yep. In fact next spring will be our planned next visit.
* This Zoo is brilliant for disabled people like myself, with a well setup accessibility service for wheelchairs or electric buggies.
100/100

It's not the same anymore. Nothing to do with covid. It's not as interesting or well layout. Refreshment areas need additional staff to avoid such long queues, very off putting.

The best zoo north of Whipsnade Zoo that we have been too. We are no slouches when we go around a zoo and yet we were still there at closing time, only just managing to see everything they had on offer. A wonderful day and worth the time it took to get there.

Our tickets said 10am to 6pm. They announced over loud speaker at 4pm they wer closing in half an hour we approached the last and my favourite enclosure the tropical reptile house just before half four and was turned away. Gutted. By the exit was a gift shop that remained open after 5. Apart from selling us tickets with false finish times the rest we did see was pretty good. The enclosures were well thought out and built with the animals best intrest at heart. It's definitely a full day out. I would go again but not anytime soon

I love going to zoo's and we did have a really great day. But it's some time since I've been to a zoo and they have changed a lot. You can really see much better conditions and habitats for the animals, so many trees, vegetation, large enclosers etc - but in my opinion this has noticeable impact upon the visitors experience. I think in probably around 50% of the encloses we really couldn't see any animal at all. Probably if we had waited 30 minutes at each one we might have got lucky but who has the time to do that and get around the whole zoo?

The jaguar had an amazing, huge enclosure but we saw only a 3 seconds glimpse of it behind some trees. Same with the bears and many of the other animals. Some of the encloses were just so far away you couldn't see much of the animal at all. This was the case with the lions and the okapi.

However we did really enjoy the giraffes, penguins, chimps and the orangutans. These enclosures had great viewing platforms. And that's what the rest of the park really needs, much more elevated paths and viewing platforms to really see the animals. If anyone remembers Southport Zoo, they had a lion in there with an enclosure far too small, but at least you could see it. You could literally walk right up to a fence and see the lion - only one fence between you. That was a cool experience.

The best part of the day came at the end, with the boat trip in the Islands part of the park. This was really, really good and after so many walking it was really needed. The 20 minute boat ride is something Chester Zoo could have easily have charged extra for, but good on them for including it in for free. We really loved the boat ride and I think they should expand on these part of the park even more - seeing animals from the boat was really cool. Another great thing was all the picnic areas. There were lots of great places to sit down and eat lunch.

Lovely animals and a lot of thought had clearly gone into the layout and decoration, it was beautiful. I honestly wouldn't recommend it with small children, though. Far too many people are being let in, it's impossible to social distance, More

We have a family membership and use it to meet up with friends who have memberships too. There's something new to see with every visit and we love seeing the animals treated so well. Well worth every penny they get from us

An amazing place to visit, so much to see and do at Chester Zoo. Thete is certain areas that have "Free flying" animals and bugs, so be prepared to have birds, bat's and bees fly around you.

Chester Zoo is the best zoo I have every visited, will return again.

Great place, well worth being a member. Works out to equal about 3 visits. More than that and you re better off. Fantastic zoo, always adding and improving it. The new islands section is really impressive. Great picnic facilities and parks too.

Was busy when we went but we got to see the animals and it was lovely weather. Great way to spend time with the family there and to learn about the animals on our planet. There are also a few toilets and food carts scattered around the area so it's good at catering to people. And they do have ramps and elevators for people in wheelchairs or on crutches.

Really bad, I am a pass holder, took me 4 week to get a date, and when I did loads of animals were not available to see, the one way system is a joke, and I will not be going back any time soon

Love this place. First visit and it was a great day out. Animals very easy to photograph and photos are great even with less powerful camera phones like my own. Layout is easy to navigate and the map means that knowing how to get to each animal is simple and easy. Lots of easy accessible places to eat and free water refills which is great. Family friendly and great value.
