Fantastic experience! Socially distanced. Wouldn't actually mind if they kept the one way systems and queues into the smaller enclosures!
Brilliant day out with the family, something for everyone !
Plenty to see, all the animals seem well looked after
Great park. Pretty big. Some queues for indoor attractions due to covid. Large variety of animals. Well maintained.
Great place for families, loads for kids to do. Lots of walking involved but the monorail is no longer available, so if you have mobility problems hire a scooter
Great fun day out for the little ones. Huge zoo, with plenty of animals. The animals that are kept there have large areas to roam around, which is definitely needed for the larger animals like the rhinos, elephants, and lions. Plenty of places to get refreshments, which aren't that too extortionate. Be aware though that it's very tiring spending a full day there because it's so big and everything is so spread out!
Excellent place, really good value for money. Animals are well cared for and have plenty of room. There orangutan enclosure is stunning
I visited the zoo during as COVID-19 restrictions were being eased, but half the attractions were still closed. The zoo didn't change the price to reflect this, nor did they advise me of it before I bought the ticket.
A great day out for anyone. You can spend the whole day wandering around and still miss things out. Always news and exciting animals and attractions to entertain any age group.
Book tickets in advance, or in the car park like I did. It's was amazing, my 16 month old Grandaughter had an absolute ball. Great staff, very helpful indeed. All covid 19 precautions possible have been taken. Very well signed so as to avoid any misunderstanding about the rules. Shame that the restaurants were closed which was to be ecpected, although all kiosks and gift shops were open. Weather was nice so all the animals we wanted to see we were able to see alot of. Thank you Chester Zoo we had a great day
Really good, very big, will be a lot better when you can just wander around, shame some of the animals were not coming out to play, but you can't force them.
The sloths were absolutely amazing and gorgeous. The animals werent scaring my younger children and zoo keepers there were very handsome and helped a lot. The bat cave has good hygiene afterwards for your hands. The meerkats are very cute and posed for my photos. The lions werent aggressive and they were very calm. Sadly the penguins were shut but still very enjoyable. I will 100% reccomend this for all ages. The rhinos did stink but they were sleeping. Camels were very nice and werent fussed and the red hogs were cool. The hornbill bird was amazing and zoo keepers told us lots of fascinating facts about them. The giraffes there were well looked after with lots of food and restaurants had good looking food (I didn't try any since I had a packed lunch but i will recommend) The toilets were clean and not messy. But sadly my only downfall is at the zoo needs to be open longer so you can see more animals and eat and not rush. We sadly didn't see the otters which my friend Kacper loved. First aid was available in the needed areas and the chimpanzee were very cool to watch
Sorry for how long it is
Review from 2020 Wednesday February 12
Lots to do but amlot closed at the minute due to restrictions looks like a lot has been done since our last visit especially the islands section. Still a great day out
Lovely place to visit. If you don't like children avoid school holidays.
The animals look well looked after and the keeps and volunteers were approachable.
Expensive is the only downside but some must go to the conservation projects.
Chester zoo is always fantastic and they are doing their best during this difficult time.
Love this zoo, and it's so big wish they would do more offers on entrance fees though xx
Just take a trip there had fantastic day anomals are kept in top condition there enclosures are not manicured more natural for them
Always a great day out. Can get busy at times but it's worth it
Finally got to see the Jaguar too
Amazing place. Great place for a family day out. Amazing selection of Animals to see and great selection of Restaurants.
Loved it. From the first elephant we saw to the bat cave and the racing sloth.
Absolutely brilliant. The lantern show was amazing.
Only downside was the food being served. My 4 year old grandson is egg and dairy intolerant. He had his heart set on a burger but they were served on a brioche bun. We asked about alternatives but even though they showed us the allergy book there was nothing on that stall. They did however say that the next door stall were serving pigs in blankets that he could have. We then had to queue again at the next stall. He loved his pigs in blankets. Shame the burger stall didn't have an alternative bread for him.
Apart from that it was a magical evening loved by all of us. Thank you.
Loved it . All the animals and the train on the track with good views
Chester Zoo Lanterns
Very nice evening walk with the family, the.zoo looks magical and atmospheric with all the lights animal lanterns. Lovely, highly recommended.
Loved it. Very efficient with the covid precautions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it
Fabulous day, great family day out, lots to see and do, we didn't manage to see everything.... so will have to go back for another visit
Amazing overall. Do recommend, get comfy shoes and expect to walk 6-7 hours to see everything. Loved it;
Great zoo. Made a special trip from Essex to visit. If I were 20 years younger, I might have seen it all. Only missed a bit though.
Had a great day out today at Chester zoo. Plenty of walking, lot's off resting. Animal's a little scarce when we did see the animals in their enclosures they looked bored and fed up. Nevertheless it was fantastic the staff were on hand to help if you needed them.well done to you guy's for a well kept beautiful area.
Great day out, would love to see more signs etc to show and take you to each area, there is a lot of walking and to find things easily would work so much better. The islands was a lot of walking with not that much to see so hopefully that area improves. Overall a great day out and the kids love it and the animals seem to be kept well and add to conservation with an opportunity to see them in a lovely environment. Not a cheap day out but hopefully goes towards the animals upkeep.
The ambiance was missing today, just like Chester City used to be on a Sunday back in the sixties when everywhere was closed. But the animals were loving it, saw the tree kangaroo out for the first time, the young bear was posing up tree very precariously. In fact, I've been visiting the zoo for 60 plys years now and never seen so many of the animals , all seemed to be enjoying the quietness today.
Lovely day out. Plenty of animals being a zoo but also lots of fun areas for kids to play and run around. Nice day to walk lots to see all the animals. We are members and love it.
I love Chester Zoo! It's one of my favourite places in the whole world.
IF you like zoos, and animals, I suggest you go there too, and start loving it.
I can say much more, but I hope that will suffice.
Perfect day out, could go time and time again, and probably will!
Got there early (best advice) there is a lot to see here and spent whole day but didn't see it all, fantastic day out
This is the best day out I've had in a while, staff are great and so is the food
Great experience for the kids even in the rain , also the Lego big cat exhibition was brilliant
A huge range of animals. It's fabulous..
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes though!!
Excellent zoo, best ever, recommended always, great family day. Lots of facilities for everyone, great in all weathers too. Good food and we take picnic too as plenty of tables available too x
Fantastic zoo. Never feels busy,as so big to move around. Recommend taking your own food if you have a family. The main food court needs to offer some different food, not just chips and pizza. Prices are really expensive.
Great Zoo, staff helpful and friendly, clean and animals look well looked after, had lovely day so much to see!
A fantastic festive evening at chester zoo. The lanterns and lit up animated animals a delight . Staff very friendly and always on hand . Magical with the snow machine . Well worth a visit and thankyou Chester Zoo .
A tonne of planning and organisation has gone into making zoo visits safe but still heaps of fun
Great family day out. Amazing animals and lots to do. It is huge and there is lots of walking , so be prepared to have sore feet lol
Excellent value well worth a visit , everything we seen was quality my favourites were the bat cave , Red ape kingdom, the Sun bears and the penguin pool
Great day out for all ages. Lots to see, do and learn. Fab
Amazing visit! Well worth the visit! So many animals to visit!
Great zoo full day of fun. Pricey to go but is worth the money if all animals are seen
Had a fantastic day, for my Granddaughters 2and Birthday
Lovely day out lots to see . although a lot of the animals were inclosed due to bad weather we still enjoyed our visit
It takes you all day to walk round and see everything as they have now got some new areas to see. A great day out when the weather is dry. Best to go mid week if you can as it is quieter. Especially once the schools are back! Which we try to do. Some areas were closed as lots of improvements going on but still too much to see in one day.
I love Chester zoo... So much to enjoy... My daughter loved it so much... Will take her again
We have visited zoos all over the country.
Chester remains our firm favourite
Fantastic day, great food places.... Very friendly, helpful staff.
Beautiful place to visit. Easy full day of fun.
Bonus.... Free parking.
Over priced and no big cats to be seen on afternoon visit and river boat ride was nothing to see in bank ments apart from a few ducks. Very boring only really enjoyed the meerkat s showing love to each other.
High prices really but overall massive place plenty of animals wish they had wolves and better viewing areas as tigers, lions and all other large cats get swarmed by people and for amount of time you get during day is not nearly enough to properly see anything the reason for 3 star is the value for money isn't there
Great place to take the kids, even with the Covid-19. There was one way systems and everything. Great day out.
Well looked after animals with lots of space. Definitely a full day trip.
If you must have zoos this is a good one. Large areas for the animals. Lots involved in breeding programmes.
Amazing place been 3 years in a row now and loved it every time.
What's not to like about Chester Zoo? Fabulous for a long day out, plenty of animals to see and lovely play areas for the children. There are also organised sessions for them which are both fun and informative. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not a cheap day out but I think it's worth every penny. Buy an an annual pass and you can visit whenever you want and stay shorter times.
Very spread out.Lovely enclosures for all the animals.Loved the new madagasgar walkthrough.
Brillant place to go for a couple of hours or all day
Having enjoyed the TV series we wanted to visit and we weren't disappointed.
Lots to see and we were impressed with the way all the animals are kept. The enclosures are spacious and engaging for the animals. A huge selection of animals to see - we loved the Jaguars, Sun Bears and Painted Dogs.
Definitely worth a visit.
Great zoo, great welfare for the animals, friendly and helpful staff
A truly amazing place with a great feel and atmosphere. It is clear the wellbeing of the animals is paramount.
Great day out the grandkids loved it seeing all the different types of animals. Plus the funky gibbon.
Good as always, not sure the islands bit was worth the trek and the boat ride was un-atmospheric and in the words of my 5 yr old....boring.
If Carlsberg did zoos!! The best zoo I ve visited. World class. Easily one par with Animal kingdom in Orlando.
A great family day out
Had a good day but would have been better if we could have seen more animals they seemed to be hiding.
Great day out with the kids and great meal at the pub
I love this place so much. We go as often as we can
I would highly recommend this zoo as it has a huge variety of animals and has multiple attractions such as the raft ride due to its large size and scale I would recommend spending multiple days here in order to see everything there are various hotels nearby. This zoo is located near the town of Chester meaning that you are in a close proximity to various shops. unfortunately while I was there it rained relatively badly however they have good cover at this zoo for this exact thing. the animals seemed to be well treated and happy the habitats were as close to their natural habitats as possible in the UK as well as various angles for guests to see the animals from. My only criticism is due to the amount of walking this zoo requires more benches could be needed.
Love this zoo! Not many of the animals were out today but that's because of the weather! There are a lot to see and the zoo keepers are really friendly and chatty! It was great talking to them and learning more about the animals they have there. They give you a map at the gates which is fantastic and there are maps dotted around the park so you can't get lost! Definitely be going back again
Brilliant place social distancing was in place most of the indoor bits were open. Would advise taking some food unless you like hot dogs . Staff were friendly and made sure everyone was safe. Would highly recommend going.
Great family day out for all, ample parking for plenty of visitors, and what made it better was the tickets are cheaper when booked in advance online. Lovely experience in all, just takes a long time to get round it all, so everyone get your walking boots on.
1 of the best zoo's I have been to, you will need a full day to see all the exhibits. Easy access, plenty of parking, only thing I wish they would do better is the signage, we went round in circles a couple of times and had to rush the last exhibits. Water ride is ok but you don't see much, take your own lunch plenty of benches.
Brilliant. Thoroughly deserves 5 star. Friendly staff. Good facilities. And the animals all seemed well looked after in very good conditions. The boat ride was relaxing but boring. Sorry. But they can t guarantee animals everywhere! Has to be the best animal place we ve visited and we ve done them all!
Great place to visit with lots of animals to see. The animals are well cared for by the zoo.
Was in Chester for a few days from Scotland, used to live in the north west and hadn't been here since my school days. The place is enormous, arrived just after 10 and stayed till closing and still didn't see everything. The guys must be so proud of the job they do. Keep up the good work
Always a good day out! Due to the current situation some enclosures are closed or there are queues to get in. Plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy at your own pace.
