Fabulous family day out. The animals come first here. Well laid out site and well signposted so it was easy to find out where you wanted to go. Food and drinks reasonably priced. Lots of educational opportunities for the kids and interactive displays. Staff were very knowledgeable and there were lots around to help

Such a great family day out, animals looked happy and plenty of things to keep you entertained for at least five hours! Chester Zoo have also done amazing landscaping job for the enclosures. The free boat ride was also very relaxing. Well worth the visit.

Amazing zoo! So many animals and so much to see. A great atmosphere!! You could spend hours here and still not see it all. You can get very close to some rare and beautiful animals.
Lots of parking. Quite expensive for entrance but worth the price.
Zoo keepers were very friendly with lots of daily talks about the different animals. Highly recommended.

Pros. Lots of the big hitters - lions tigers jaguars giraffes elephants. Plenty of loos. Nice unique items in the gift shops. Plenty of places to eat.
Cons I enjoyed the day but there was a lot of walking. Things to see were far apart and separated by fences that cut off the view. Many of the animals we didn't see as they were hiding in enclosures...fair enough as December and they were probably cold. Not many things in the gift shop for people over the age of 12. No books or anything like that.

My family love it... So many different animals to see close up, which is really fascinating, especially for children! My only complaint is the high prices of food and drink here - just avoid it and bring your own lunch and refreshments as you will get tired walking around. It's a big place!

Really nice zoo, good selection of animals including elephants and giraffes, you should book the tickets online as it gives you some discount. Great for a family day out. Felt like the new island bit is a bit gimmicky but it's good for kids to become aware of animal trafficking and it's effects on wildlife, a lot of the animals weren't there when we visited but perhaps it's still being set up. Didn't go on the new boat ride as the queue was too long but people who did it didn't seem too impressed. I thought it was well managed and clean in general, would highly recommend people to visit. A full day should allow you to explore the entire park. Plus Cheshire oaks outlet is literally down the road too!

The zoo was great. There is lots of info on every animal. Don't forget if you can't see them outside you might be able to see them inside. Also make sure that you wear comfortable shoes!! At some of the enclosures there can be a large group of people. Today it was at the orangutans, please be aware that everybody would like to see so be mindful of others.

This is a nice place to visit with the family. Compared to another zoo we have been to, Chester zoo has a more natural look to it. Convinient for transportation if you are going to use bus too.

Always a great day out here. It is a large zoo to get round though so if you want to see all the animals it's best to go early. There is a great selection of animals to see so you won't be disappointed.

Great family day out, it is a big site with plenty to see so get in early if you're just there for a day. Nice mix of different enclosures and animal types depending on what you want to see.
There are regular talks in different areas of the zoo so worth checking if there is anything you are interested in listening to.
Although there are different places to buy food, take a picnic, especially if you are with kids, lots of picnic tables and outdoor areas to eat are the nicest.
Highly recommended day out, does cost a bit but for such a good attraction it is worth it.

It's a great place to visit. Lots of beautiful animals to see, but some were hiding and we couldn't see them. Also it took us all day to walk around with only short lunch break. Prices of refreshments and food in the upper range. However overall it was a fantastic day. Will definitely come back.

Best Zoo I have ever been too, and I love Zoo,s. Clean, tidy, loads of picnic spots. Plenty of seats and places to eat. Lots of clean toilet facilities, helpful staff and best of all the animals have loads of space to roam and all looked healthy and contented. Well done Chester Zoo. Thought it was worth every penny.

Absolutely brilliant day out but prepare to do a LOT of walking, you can just about manage to squeeze in everything there is to see in a full day. Great fun for the kids. A good few play areas. Plenty of places to sit and eat. Loads of restrooms and drinks huts.

A clean and organised place. The animals look happy and healthy and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. The shop is really affordable. My only criticism would be the signs for where to find the animals needs to be improved drastically. They are doing a great job with all the restrictions.

Great place to visit. We spend nearly five hours there seeing all the animals. Listened to the elephant talk which was very informative.
There are plenty of picnic tables all around the zoo for people to sit down for a snack
All in all a great day out for all ages.

Wonderful is the word! Although, found it a bit dearer in price for entry as not everyone can afford this and therefore the kids will miss out on very vital educational dayout, but nonetheless, it is was my kid's, 4 and 2, first trip to zoo and they still talk about it!!!

I have been to the zoo before, great place but unfortunately the weather was pretty awful when I went in January and some of the animals were no where to be seen. Best to go when its good weather

Very poor !, still charging full price for tickets yet half the enclosures are closed and some that where open there was nothing to be seen. No tiger feeds and no penguin feeds or animal feeds of any kind absolute joke. Don t waste your More

First time here. We loved it. Great information about the animals. How the zoo helps endangered animals around the world. Best highlight and must do is walking through flying fruit bat's. I am terrified of bat's but over come this. Be aware that the bat's fly past and in front of you. Excellent day out.

Had a lovely family day, despite some obvious restrictions. No major queuing (we went last Tuesday) if you follow the advice of staff who are dotted around advising the best times to visit the most popular spots. Diner, snack cabins, gift shop, etc are open.
We filled a whole day, no problem !

After going to the zoo today it was a great start with social distance at the beginning then walking around the zoo we noticed that there was no staff about social distance except by the lion pen and some of the visitors were all over the place honestly made us so uncomfortable I honestly think you need to re look at this again very of putting, the staff in the shop and loos were fantastic but unfortunately not around the zoo certainly not going again while this virus is still on .

Went during lockdown and a few things were closed and a few queues but nothing to stress about. The animals and enclosures were well kept and the day was amazing, we arrived at 10.45 and left at 16.45 so it's a full day if the closed enclosures are open and lots of facilities. We will definitely make a return visit next year.

Big Zoo. Maybe too big. BUT nothing wrong with that because this Zoo packs a punch. Fantastic day out, lots yo see and do.
Even the main restaurant is value for money and wont leave you hungry like some tourist places. This one you get what you pay for,quality..
So enjoy the day out and be sure NOT to miss the bat cave.. This zoo deserves 6stars.

A good day out. We saw everything and had lunch in about 5 hours. A wide range of animals and interesting to learn more about them and the zoo's conservation work. The team were friendly and helpful and they were quite quick to get people in to the zoo. The food wasn't great and over priced, pretty much as expected. We booked on line which saved a few pound. Facilities were good and there were plenty of toilets and places for refreshments.

Amazing. Loads of animals, and when I say loads I mean loads! Lots of places to get refreshments as well. One thing is, it's quite a long walk to get around the park, so seeing all the animals can be quite tiring.

The work the zoo does is vital and the the keepers are very passionate about their animals and are full of knowledge. We spent at least half an hour in with the bats, letting out eyes get used to the dark and chatted with the keeper about how to encourage more bats in our area. I was only a bit disappointed in the food we had which was both expensive and unsatisfying. The fajita flat bread portion I was served was half of what it should be
