I managed to find tickets the second day the zoo reopened after closing for covid reasons. The organisation levels were great, staff were present at every corner and toilet queues were organised, speedy as well as clean! Hand sanitiser pumps are available all throughout the zoo. Social distancing measures are always in place. And small gift shops available too. I recommend the Pineapple Dole Whip it is DELICIOUS.

This is a great zoo with animals and birds living happily in good settings. Both adults and children enjoy their time here. My only complaint is the complete lack of top up drinking water. Plastic bottles of water are on sale, but this is hardly good for the environment. Drinking water should be available to the public at all such places at no cost.

As a zoo, its second to none. Too big to do even in one day but enormous entrance fee prohibits many people. I am a pensioner, and Chester Zoo is out of my pocket. Its been a long while now since I visited.

Great day out! The elephant enclosure is massive and watching the elephants play in the massive waterfall made me feel shorter than usual!
The bat enclosure was brilliant! A small bat about the size of a pipstrelle landed on my head and crawled across me. I couldn't move for trying not to laugh as it tickled like hell! What an incredible experience.
Really enjoyed spotting birds with my niece and looking for animals hidden from view.
This place is massive! Wear good walking shoes! A wonderful day, that was enjoyed by my entire family.

Love this place and all that it has to offer. Just had a year membership and used it as much as I could.

Recommended for anyone going is to go early and head right to the back of the zoo as you get to walk round pretty much on your own for a bit, also get on there Facebook as if the is any problems or reasons they can't open it's the face place you will see about it (not that this happens much.)

Thought the zoo was excellent.. the surrounding gardens enhanced the setting. The animals were in good condition and seemed happy in their areas. Unfortunately the monorail was not working due to the hot weather.. the facilities for families were excellent..play areas for children..the zoo was clean in all areas.

A great experience for children and adults. If it s a hot day, bring a reusable bottle with you and keep hydrated- there s lots of walking between enclosures! Mask wearing was encouraged on all indoor enclosures.

Amazing zoo, very big, would recommend having a couple of days of visits if you want to make sure you have time to see all of the wildlife on show.

I drove from Edinburgh to Chester and entered the zoo around 11am and before I knew it closing time was upon me, I had barely stopped walking all day only a few times for quick bite to eat (around 15 mins) and quickly stopping to take a few pictures.

Plenty to see and do. Clean facilities and well maintained. Lots of walking and attractions can be quite crowded.

Not sure why I needed an online account in order to purchase tickets.. Didn't seem relevant in any way

Gotta love these big animals, and small ones! Elephants first, rhinos last.
Covid-19 Tips. Crowd pullers like penguins do create bottle necks and photo takers will infringe on your space.
There are zoo keepers there to ask questions of, who are more concerned for animal welfare and mostly yours. Think, they'd benefit from social distancing marshalls to reassure people like us who felt more threatened. Only had to tell one group to back off.
Take alcohol rub of your own, they do run out. Hand washing in toilets are a godsend. Gents were immediate access. Women queueing for their side.
And finally, not all is accessible yet, and queuing to view is going to happen, so if you remember queueing across supermarket car parks, expect the same, minus the car parks.
Stay safe. Be kind to others.

Was a bit disappointed in the zoo to be fair I'd say we didn't see a fair few animals because they weren't out... Will have to go back in the summer see if it is any different! Well sign posted and reasonably accessible made the day run smoothly with an excited 10 year old wheelchair user.

Being my third visit, I was still very impressed. I was there on Thursday, this week. Most animals( except for the owls) have spacious enclosures and look happy and well taken care of. There are lots of places where you can buy More

Despite the best efforts of the zoo people blatantly ignored social distancing. In some areas and around some exhibits you would swear Covid never happened so close were people to each other. It was like a normal zoo visit would have been before the pandemic

What a great visit to Chester zoo! The staff were helpful and it's somewhere you can spend the whole day looking at all the different animals it's amazing what they are doing to help the endangered creatures. A great day out for all ages. Although the map is a little confusing and there are not many signs around telling you where to go apart from that I would definitely recommend visiting

Beautiful zoo, it's huge so worth using a full day to get the best experience. Animals are always well looking after, in clean and spacious areas. Park in clean in general, lots of cafes and toilets. Recommend the bat cave and butterfly house!

Great visit overall considering situation with COVID. However, not nearly enough arrowed floor signage to encourage people to keep to the left so people wandering around all over the place which was uncomfortable.
Staff really welcoming and helpful as ever.

Great zoo to see animals plus other activities for the kids. Love the butterfly house. Food & drinks a bit pricey but if you take a picnic there are plenty if tables around. The water play wasn't working which is a shame on a hot day. The dinosaur exhibition was really good. We had 4 kids, aged 2 -5 and all enjoyed themselves. Free parking is a good touch and place is really well kept & clean.

Chester zoo was great, the Lego big cats were there they were in incredible to see. Shame some of the animals seemed to be hiding though. However I enjoyed it so much I've become a member so can go whenever I want now.

Massive site with lots to see. On the Monday afternoon that I visited there were quite a lot of visitors which surprised me. One of the staff told me that they had 900 children that day! It will take quite a bit of time to see everything. I only had 3 hours .
I think it could be a better experience, especially with photo opportunities. Some parts have viewing windows which overcomes the problem. I travelled several hundred miles to visit and some good photos are essential I think.

After all the madness from the last couple of months it was nice to be outside doing something normal. My children love visiting the zoo every year. Saw lots of animals, one of our best trips to the zoo this year!

Outstanding from start to finish! All the animals have large enclosures and the decor adds real character! You don't need to pay to park closer, just park in the free spaces and walk, it's not far, unless ofc you have a medical condition. We went as a couple and we just fitted it in within four hours, rushing the end! You definitely need a full day especially if you have children! There are lots of interactive exhibits and play areas! One of the best zoos I've been to, and I've been to a fair few throughout Europe!

Never been a zoo before so was overly excited to go here. It was raining but still had an amazing time. Unfortunately it was jam packed so even though the animals were there, it was hard to see them as people shoved me out the way (not the zoo's fault, but would suggest to not go during school holidays if possible)

Hands down the best zoo in the UK. There are so many animals to see. You have to really be on your toes to see all the places in one day. The place is very well mapped out and there is always staff nearby to help. ample parking space and it is FREE which is good.
Don't forget to get some souvenirs on the way out in the shop just by the entrance. But don't spend time as you enter because it stays open after the zoo closes.

Arrived at opening time and it was super busy, staff there directing you to each space. Entry was fast even with the large amount of people. Lots of info on the zoo's conservation work as you walk round. Good day overall. This is one of the better zoos I've visited REALY good enclosures for animals the staff really friendly and talks very informative must go if in chester.

Very nice and busy zoo. The Rinos were amazing. We went there to see the carnivores. That was a bit of disappointment. We barely saw the animals. Some better signaling along the aisles of the zoo would also be more helpful.Lots of places for food/drink/rest with reasonable prices. Overall a great experience. Definitely worth to visit. I wouldn't go for a second time though...

Very well organised lots of hand gel available and easy one way signage and standing spaces for queing. Only the non compliance social distancing people were the problem. But not the zoo fault. Lots of animals on display. Another great day had.

Free parking, can go back to your car to get packed lunch which is a great money saver for families. Difficult to find drinking water. Animals and zoo are fantastic, my favourite zoo. Lots of walking so wear comfortable shoes, the boat ride is free for a welcome rest.

Great day out for a family of four. Over 1000 different species of animals, all in large enclosers perfectly replicating the scene and challenges of their natural habitat. Didn t mind paying the entry fee as all their profits go to wildlife protection projects all over the world. You will need 5-6 hours to see all the animals, and take the free map at the gate as you will need it. Otherwise, amazing experience and would recommend to anyone.

The animals have huge enclosures and they are one of few conservation zoos in the UK. There is lots for the kids and adults alike and the prices are not excessive but are expected for the work they do and the facilities provided! A Great Day Out!

Brilliant family day out. So many things to see and to do. I personally lived the butterfly house, beautiful.. lovely to see. Things to do for all ages, from a train ride dound the zoo, to a stop in the park. Something for everyone. Will continue to visit in the future.

Well worth a visit!

Well worth a visit!

My wife and I made a 3 hour journey to come to Chester Zoo and we wasn't disappointed. The animals all looked well cared for, the staff who we saw were very friendly and knowledgeable when asked about the animals.

One of our favourite things was how well adapted each enclosure seemed to be, you can tell the staff enjoy their jobs. All seemed very well designed and laid out, giving each animal a more 'realistic' natural environment as well as providing them with fun activities too.

Thank you for putting the 'no one is Home' signs up on empty enclosures, I can't say how many other zoos we've been to that don't and we spend far too long staring for a non existent animal! Oops! Haha

Enjoyed looking at the little bits of history, and the conservation information you provided that yourselves and many other zoos are doing which is fantastic!

If you're looking for a relaxing break from walking around try the FREE boat ride, 10-15 minutes on the lazy river.

Lots of choice in the gift shop at fairly reasonable prices too, glad to see the penny press as well. We always get one or two from each zoo as a momento.

Overall a great full day out and will be recommending to people we know.

Keep up the great work!

This zoo is the best I've visited. You can see clearly that they care about their animals. The conservation work is excellent. I was particularly struck by the notices they put up in the monkey section regarding keeping the animals happy, mostly in regard to body language and staring.

The Rhinos in particular were beautiful, seeing mum and baby side by side munching hay! The Asian elephants look happy as well. Personal favourite was the Jaguar. Absolutely stunning cat!

The gift shop had loads of March, except bookmarks! The quality overall is what you would expect, though some of it was clearly top notch.

Top tip- but your tickets in advance online. Saves a LOT of queuing!

Had a really good time there as a family day out I now it cost a lot but it is worth the money for the amount of animals that are there to see and the worker there are really nice to give you a hand if you get lost

We got lucky really, my took me for my birthday and except for the fact that the major heat we had effected the monorail we saw everything I mean everything, lions, jaguars, rhinos, camels, zebra, bats and even both tigers playing in the pool (apparently ultra rare) to have experience 1 of those is a good trip but to have everything was amazing and the staff were awesome too I would highly recommend it, and if you don't get to experience all of them like we did it just gives you another reason to go back

Have had a lovely day at Chester Zoo. The zoo have been thorough with 2m distancing spots on the floor and hand cleanser everywhere. They've also requested that in certain areas we should wear masks & everyone has complied. Queues for the toilets were well managed with staff ensuring only 3 people in the toilet at any time & managing the queues of people waiting- which weren't too long.
It certainly did not spoil our day, it made us feel safer. Lovely place
