Always enjoy this place. Zoo's are one thing us Brits get right. Lots of green open spaces for picnics and plenty of variations of animals to see. My favourite was the bats but i think that area was involved in the fire they had so not sure if the bats are still there. All in all it's great value for money.

Very well organised in this trying time. Hand washing stations everywhere, one way systems in place and a limited entry to indoor exhibits. The enclosures are all beautiful and enriching for the animals. The only downside was some visitors not follow the very clear rules, though the staff did their best to remind them. A lovely day

Just reading the not so good reviews. My suggestion is to show wildlife films here. Bristol bbc had a great network of filmmakers and would be great to bring them to Chester. Then at least people would be paying to see something. I have never been interested in seeing animals caged up, but I suppose that's what humans are in Chester zoo, they pay to be caged. From out side it looks like a WII concentration camp disgusted as McDonald's.

Disappointing experience. At some point I was surprised when I even saw an animal. I gave it two stars as I enjoyed the bats experience and because I found this tailored for families with kids. The overall conclusion is that this place is not worth visiting. Solid work and maintenance needs to be done to the zoo .

We had a nice day out, but it was a shame we didn't see any tigers, bears or jaguars. The baby elephants and giraffes were lovely to see.
It would have been nice to see some more attendants cleaning the picnic tables and surrounding floors.
Always happy to support the zoo but honest feedback was that my expectations were a bit higher than on the day. However, all the staff I did see were working hard and really helpful. Especially the female working on the giraffe enclosure.
The hand sanitation stations were also plentiful and well stocked and the general areas of zoo were clean.

Probably the best Zoo in the north west, it's a tough call between here and Blackpool Zoo, however, due to the sheer number of displays and enclosures, Chester Zoo takes the biscuit.

Although more expensive than competing zoos, I found Chester to be more value for money, especially given the fact that carers go free with a disabled guest. So many animals and enclosures, the children absolutely loved it, the staff are all very knowledgeable about the animals and seem keenly interested in sharing facts about the animals they care for.

The gift shop also has an abundance of ornaments, toys and souvenirs, some of which can get quite pricey, but there is some value to be found with certain items.

It is so much bigger than blackpool zoo, all the animals are adorable, and some of them you can interact with them, for example, the butterflies, the bats not so much but it is nice to go into a huge cave with bats flying around your head. More

We had a great time there and was nice to go out somewhere, as it was our first time going out in lockdown. The social distancing wasn't great though and I don't think they was any hand sanitizer so they could of done better with that.

This is truly amazing place to see animals from the wild.living an unthretened life originating from many countries. In wonderful conditions. A place with first rate facilities. And good access.

Really nice place accessible by everybody amd has the option of hiring mobility scooters if medically needed. Big enclosures for animals and good things around for kids to do and see. A little overpriced

Brilliant. Really lovely weather so the sunshine kept some of the animals inside but it was still really enjoyable. All of the staff that we met were very helpful and gave us great info about the animals even down to their names!

Chester zoo is without doubt one of the top attractions in the UK. It has always been a well run, well presented and packed with things to learn, things to do and things to see. Staff are helpful and friendly, animals are well cared for and the whole site benefits from continued investment and regular maintenance.

Chester zoo invest a lot of time and money in animal welfare both at the zoo and in the wild where they are actively involved in conservation and education. This reflects on the zoo where animals enclosures are constantly being adapted to ensure they provide the animals with a safe and natural environment.

Chester zoo has a reasonably high ticket price although in my opinion this represents good value as there is so much to do you will fill your day easily. The annual pass is a good investment as your ticket price on the day contributes to this and it only takes 3 visits during the year to make it worthwhile. It's also unlikely you will see and do everything in one visit.

Much of the zoo is viewed from outdoors so bad weather could put a downer on your day. If you have the season pass you can leave and return whenever you want, otherwise it's worth checking the forecast to get the best out of your day.

The are plenty of restaurants, cafes and kiosks at Chester zoo so your never far from food and drink and there is also indoor and outdoor picnic areas if your bringing your own food.

Overall Chester zoo is an excellent place to visit for families and individuals of all ages.

Never get tired of visiting here. Amazing place. Such a special place to take children. The bat sanctuary is a personal favourite. Watching the bats fly past your head is just epic fun. Watching the mother-in-law scream and swear was just the icing on the cake. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. Cant wait to come back soon.

Lovely zoo with a range of animals and full of incredible enclosures for the animals to develop and grow in. Lots of information to aid the education of the public on animals, their needs and our responsibility towards their future survival.

Amazing. The sloths were top notch and the elephants were very calm. The rhino enclosure smelled absolutely disgusting and the lions were brilliant. The meerkats were cute. Sadly the penguins were shut. Would recommend.

This zoo is REALLY big! It is unlikely that you will see everything and wear some good shoes as there is lots of walking.

There are lots of animals and all the ones you would expect such as lions, tigers, elephants etc. There are bat houses, monkey enclosures, tropical houses so plenty to do.

Only complaint I had was that you felt preached at about conservation, which although not a bad thing I did feel it was at the expense of learning about the animals.

Chester zoo is an amazing place, they do amazing work for conservation and have fantastic breeding programmes in place. It is a wonderful day out for the whole family and I cont recommend it enough. The staff are all friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable too, which is lovely to see and adds to the experience. Thank you for a lovely time, we will be back again soon!!

Great fun. Especially for the kids. You need a full day and maybe a better weather. Today we had some showers and need to find shelters. Otherwise there is plenty to do. It comes expensive though for a family of 4.

Really nice place to visit and see a variety of different animals all in generally big open enclosures. The only problem I had was the drinks stalls I would say there wasn't enough of them and sometimes we would be queuing for nearly half an hour for a drink.
But overall a good day out.

After watching the secret Life of the zoo expectations were high, every enclosure we stopped at seemed to only have one solitary animal, we spent 4 1/2 hrs here, the map could do with an update found it quite difficult to use as some walkways not showing on map, also narrow pathways made it difficult to overtake to get to next attraction as when someone stopped to take pictures etc everyone else had to wait! Plenty of food and drink outlets and staff on hand to help, also quite clean, the newish Bat bridge is not mobility scooter friendly, made me feel sick and hurt my wrists trying to steer and get to other side, the surface is far to bumpy! Plan well in advance before you come!

Wonderful day out rain or shine and we had both today. Constantly improving. So much to see, can't do it justice in a days visit. Booking ticket on line saves money and you can even do it on the day of your visit, up till 9.30am which was More

Amazing array of animals in a fun, stimulating and educational setting. Plenty of places to picnic or restaurants to visit. The zoo also has a great choice of play areas to suit all ages, great to rest your legs whilst the children tire themselves out! Went to see the dinosaurs which were great. Fabulous day but be warned not cheap!

Amazing place, well worth seeing. If you live locally get a membership, 'free' say out and only have to go for an hour or two then - enjoy it over the year and see the animals multiple times! Love everything about it

Huge zoo with many visitors but it didn't feel as busy as the car park looked. So many different animals and the different areas were fascinating. Loved that the zoo made a conscious effort to show how they were helping the environment as well as the endangered animals.

Lovely park with loads of walking, but spoilt by weather, sad animals and long queues for indoor viewing.
Maybe things will improve.
Recommend: Banham Zoo, Norfolk with better displays and more compact.

This zoo is quite big and takes at least 6 hours to walk around. Make reservations early for the pub for lunch. This zoo is best known for the enclosures and gardens, neither will disappoint.

Good efforts to let people adhere to government guidelines around COVID-19, sanitation stations abundant throughout the park, plenty of signage and markings on the floor to promote social distancing. Face masks are advisory in the indoor sections. A good portion of exhibits closed sadly but still plenty to see.

Good system for social distancing. Only issue we had was the one way system around the rhinos and islands meant we did 3 full circuits which took its toll on the kids. Don't think it was necessary to walk across the same intersection 3 times.

I like going to zoos but chester zoo did not live up to my expectations. I have been to London Zoo and Blackpool Zoo before, and found Chester Zoo to not be as good with regards to the the fact that many of the areas had little or no animals. The tiger and lions were not there, and also many of the restaurants were closed. There were two open only serving junk food; burgers, fish and chips and other deep fried stuff. All the snack bars were just ice cream. There was no remotely healthy options in the whole park, not even sandwiches which was disappointing, and ice cream can't be the only "snack" in existence. None of the talks or shows were on due to the social distancing, but the cost of the ticket was still the same expensive price. It felt like a rip off, I feel like they should have reduced the cost with all the animal talks being off... Ranks below London and Blackpool zoo for me unfortunately.

Only negative are the moaning Covid deniers (customers) walking about complaining at a level to make sure everyone could hear them

4 out of 5 because the map is not interactive on the app and there are not enough sign posts to guide you so a lot of time is wasted walking round when you only have a day you need to be specific about what you can go and see
