Had a fantastic evening with the family at The Lanterns ,well worth a visit, children loved it.
Never disappointed. Overall, excellent experience. Highly recommend.
A fantastic place to visit for a really fulfilling day
Wish I could give six stars. Humboldt penguins are the best although I can't help but feel they're planning an escape.
Great place for the whole family. Try and get a dry day, the animals don't do much when it's wet and there's not much outside seating that's covered
A great family day out, that much to do could probably spend a 2nd day and still not seen it all. A minor point could do with a few more staff on a couple of the kiosks to speed up service and increase sales.
Absolutely beautiful.. staff was amazing, helpful, patient. Plenty of things for kids .. a beautiful day out.
Amazing place with so much to see and do. We loved the new islands attraction which offers a boat ride round various islands inhabited with animals. A great place to go with the kids, whatever the weather!
What a fantastic day out lovely zoo and do lots of conservation stuff, love it, lots of walking however there is a monorail there too
Had a great day out. Lovely weather, good variety of animals and adventures for kids, loads of picnic places
Absolutely loads to see! Spent a full day there and still didn't have time to see everything! Good facilities and plenty to do for all ages.
I've recently become a member. Best decision I've made in a long time. Great place. Lots to see and do.
What an amazing place. Loved my day out at the zoo.
who doesn't love the zoo? Elephants and bat cave definitely highlights. Be nice to see the concession stands use less plastic and not supporting brands at odds with conservation though.
A great place where you can see a wide variety of animals. The food outlets are a little expensive so would reccommend taking a picnic & there are many picnic areas around the zoo. Once thing the kids lived was the free boat ride in the island area of the park.
All the indoor areas were closed due to corvid but a great day out, staff worked very hard to keep you safe
Couldn't recommend.end the year pass enough love it here.
Had an absolute ball for my little boys 1st birthday. Can't wait to go again
Festival of light,, superb for the children, well done to all the staff, they worked hard in freezing weather
Great family evening at the lantern's all the lights and animals lovely
My favourite zoo with pretty much everything. Need a full day at least to get around everywhere
Lives up all its excellent reputation. Needs a 2 day visit to properly do it justice.
Massive place, lovely gardens and the animals have huge enclosures.
As always it is one of the best zoos in the UK. During this pandemic period there are numerous adaptations which require social distancing which sadly (but necessarily) results in long delays. There were queues of 45 minutes to see the More
Amazing , there are so many exotic animals all so cute. I love going to Chester Zoo. However, it is very bisy but that just shows how good Chester Zoo is.and the new Lego big cats are so cool!
Fabulous visit to Chester Zoo with the family! Saw everything we went to see! Jaguars were amazing :-) Elephants, giraffes and sloths were also highlights. Play areas are fantastic and really enjoyed the lego displays. Recommend hiring 'buggies' to help older children with tired legs by the end of the day.
Fantastic day what a massive place too first time going around the islands in there done a great job. Worth a visit any time of year loved it .
Fantastic day out. Very reasonably priced, plenty of eating kiosks. We came on a cold day but they still have things in place so you get to see the animals. Plenty of helpers willing to help
I always live Chester zoo! And so relieved that it's remained open from generosity of people. Can't wait to go back.
Fab day out. Get there early to avoid big queues. Everyone was really friendly, animals all looked well cared for. You will need a whole day to see it all. Lots of places to eat and drink.
A wonderful place, for all the family. They keep investing and growing the zoo as well as seeking to help endangered animals.
Brilliant zoo! Animal welfare is a priority and habitats are always being improved. My very favourite bit of the entire zoo is the bat house, they fly freely, it s so much fun to be close to the amazing little pipistrelles and the great big flying foxes!
Fun day out. Reasonable price. Disabled pay standard fee but 1 carer per disabled person gets free entry.
Best zoo in the country. Perfect for children with plenty of activities.
Excellent place to visit didn't see many animals outside due to the inclement weather. Food expensive in the cafes. Only down side was that the paths around the various animals are not smooth therefore a lot of surface water to wade through
A good variety of animals, lots of food options, reasonably priced gift shop, staff are very helpful.
Quiet this time of year, you wont always see all of the animals but still well worth the visit, especially if you book online and get the discount
Great day out for the family. Love all the animals xx
Visited the zoo today for the first time since they reopened due to covid. Whilst there are lots of hand sanitising stations around the park and one-way signs, there should (in my opinion) be more stewarding to encourage/maintain social distancing as this was a bit lacking in some areas. Potentially too many tickets have been sold but it is up to individuals/family groups to be aware.
Some of the animal areas were closed, understandably so in the case of the Bat walk through area. Queuing was in effect for the indoor exhibitions and staff were as friendly and knowledgable as usual.
I haven't been to Chester Zoo for at least twenty years. My brother and I had a wonderful day. Unfortunately we were late not getting there til 2.30 however we saw quite a bit.
I would suggest people have a whole day there. There are plenty of places to eat, picnic area and a nature reserve. Prices are reasonable, they have recycle bins everywhere and their takeaway coffee cups are made from plant material.
The animals seem to be well looked after and the enclosures are larger than I expected. I do not normally like zoos and animal parks etc. So I was pleasantly surprised. Well done Chester Zoo. Ps all the staff were very helpful. There are mobility scooters and large prams for hire. The monorail gives a good view.
We will be returning soon.
What a great day out! Went as a group of four adults. Got there early and spent the whole day. Loads to see! Would recommend to book a table for lunch in the pub, unaware this was the done thing so we missed out.
Absolutely great zoo. Easy to get round and a fantastic collection of animals and other attractions. We'll worth a visit - we will be back!
This place is brillant. We spent the whole day here when we visited. Was one of the first into the zoo & we left 10mins before it closed. The staff are also very helpful & friendly.
As members of chester zoo we visit here quite often, always something different to see, love it here and so do the kids!!
Love this place. Perfect family fun. Loads of play areas for the kids and loads of animals to see
Expansive zoo with lots of large enclosures and interesting animals to see. The animal welfare and care appears to be to a very high standard and the zoo is rightfully proud of the good work they do at home and abroad.
Zoo was largely accessible as a wheelchair pusher, some good hills to work out on.
The staff are brilliant and everyone's doing their best in difficult situations right now. Half of it isn't open though and they really, really need to put some more benches down! After 12:00 you'll be lucky to find a place to sit down.
Sounds like a petty complaint but if you've got kids with you, the cafes are all shut and you've been walking for hours, it feels like a major problem!
It also wouldn't hurt to put up signposts showing you where the exit is.
It was really lovely, however some of the animals couldn't be seen due to the weather
Fantastic family day out. Really enjoyed the monkeys . Food was good but a bit pricey. Won t be our last visit.
I realise that Zoos are contravercial, but Chester really is world class. The staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly.
Highly recommended!
Excellent. Lovely place .got right up close to the animals. Been done up since I last went. But well worth a visit
It was very well laid out but the food was very expensive
Love Chester zoo, always really clean. Extremely safe. Hand sanitizer stations everywhere. Loads of animals to see. (Loads of enclosures empty). even if it did rain we had fun.
What a lovely zoo, very friendly staff from arrival to departure. Some exhibits are being refreshed at the moment but only to be expected in a growing zoo. I would rather miss some enclosures because of redevelopment than go to a stale tired looking zoo. Love the drinks cup idea of buy a cup with unlimited refills. Would like to see some water fountains dotted around to fill water bottles please. Very wheelchair friendly. Some slopes took a little effort but not impossible, well worth booking a scooter. We tried but left it too late. Thank you for a great day.
We are members so come lots and no visit is the same. You can tell how much the animals care for and know the animals and there's lots of interactive play areas for the kids to burn off energy. Plenty of cafes and snack huts and loos too
Not been the zoo for years but what a great day out it is for people of all ages. Animals all looked after and plentiful information about the species and work/conservation the zoo does.
Such a wonderful place to visit.
Was really clean and the animals were in surroundings that stimulated them...
The staff were happy to help and offer support, assistance and any guidance required
Worth every penny... Plan to be there for at least 4 hours
Great place to vist just be advised with covid on at present you may have to line up to get into some of the animal houses but soon as your in it moves quickly 10/10
Cannot fault this zoo, I'd say the best one around in North West for sure. Make sure you come first thing in the morning for a good parking spot and you'll have enough time to walk thru the whole zoo because it's huge.
Went to The Lanterns at Chester Zoo which we really enjoyed!
The best zoo I've been too. Go prepared for a long work cos it's set on a massive site. Loads of places to stop, rest and get food /drink. Never mind the animals you can see up fairly close.
Amazing, unfortunately quite a few exhibits closed, due to Covid I suppose
Fantastic day out with the kids, well worth every penny and souvenir cups are a must with free refills! We got through 8 refills each and saved a small fortune! Best views of the animals iv ever seen at a zoo. The enclosures where massive but still had good view points all round. It's so big we spent from opening, till close and still didn't see everything! Fantastic day, the bat cave walk was amazing! Honestly there was so much to see I cant pick a favourite. The sloth hanging around above the huge aquarium was definitely the highlight of the day! 10/10!!
Great place to visit. Kids love it and it's always adding new attractions to keep it fresh. Best zoo in the country IMHO.
Our day at Chester Zoo was brilliant !,We had the weather on our side it was very sunny,We got there at 10:30 and didn't leave till 5:30,The staff were very helpful too, loads of different animals to see and the kids all saw their favourites
Brilliant day out loads to see animals look well cared for friendly staff plenty of.places to eat and drink . Well worth a visit full day out
We visited the zoo on Thursday (30/7/20) and it was rammed! The fact we were parked on the grass in the (full) overflow car park says it all! Now, this would be fair enough if we weren t in the throes of deadly pandemic. Earlier that evening the government imposed local lockdowns just an hour up the road from the Zoo! Social distancing was not possible due to the sheer number of visitors. If you ve Covid-19 concerns I d seriously recommend you give this place a miss until it s safer to visit!
Visited today, the weather kept off which is always great. Staff on hand all around the zoo, toilets all open and clean, nice clean and tidy all around the zoo and enclosures.
I understand with Covid that certain parts of the zoo were closed but it would of been nice to of been told before hand and a map would of also been a bonus considering how much we paid to get in. (We were at Dudley zoo yesterday and got a map upon entry).
We were looking forwards to getting a gift from the shop but it was extortionately over priced!
We only had to do track and trace before entering the gift shop. There was track and trace before entering the zoo itself but I didn t see anyone using it or being told to either.
Always loved the zoo, every zoo. Can't expect it to be quiet or everybody to move for you, everybody is there for the same reason. So with that in mind you can get on and enjoy the exotic variety of animals to visit. Fantastic day out
Love it. Best zoo I ve been too. Even as an adult I enjoy it. Learn something new every time I go.
Great park and facilities animals all seemed very well looked after and happy. Food was good but the restaurant was too busy and under staffed (20 min queue to purchase food and difficult to get seats) otherwise excellent day even in the rain.
Went to the Lantern Christmas event they do and it was brilliant. simple and lovely. Kids love it.
Lovely modern zoo, easily 5 hours to look round, places to shelter in the rain, several places to eat, suitable for all ages.
Every visit to Chester Zoo is an amazing experience! I love the variety of animals including the Tapirs & Elephants! The staff are friendly and you can ask them any question and they won t hesitate to give you an answer.
Had a great day at Chester Zoo and was privileged to see the new Asiatic lions feeding. They have a great purpose built enclosure.
Went with my daughter in her mobility scooter for the first time, something we was concerned about but it was amazing to find a place where there was so much ability to access things. This shows just how thought out the place was for everyone to join in and that truly means a lot to people with disability. And the new lion section is amazing. I didnt think Chester zoo could get any better.
Great afternoon out. Even with the covid restrictions in place still saw lots of animals and didn't feel claustrophobic at any time.
Staff were available to help around the zoo.
Really well organised.
Very well patrolled for covid 19 without being intrusive
Fantastic as always..my grandson in the butterfly house
Such an amazing place to go and see all your favourite animals
Monkeys wasn't out, tigers no where to be seen, other than that had a great time
The zoo itself is fantastic we visit at least once a year. Obviously with covid 19 this visit was slightly different bits of the zoo is really well thought out for socially distancing and monitored other bits not so good and people not following the guidance which is unfair for others. I think a one way trail would be better and tickets having a more staggered entrance time. It's hard for the zoo and they are trying.
