My hair did not turn out the way I wanted. Asked the stylist to retone which she did but I was still not happy with how it looked . The stylist was extremely nice but wasn t able to get my hair to what I was expecting and I had a lot of warm brassy tones left in my hair once I left. I now have another appointment booked with a different salon to get my hair color corrected and with the price I paid at cheeky strut and what I will be paying to get my hair fixed is going to be a lot more than what I wanted to spend.

Nothing but love for this place and it's stylists. Always a treat to come in for an appointment. <3

It was great to be back! I appreciated that the salon was clean with thoughtful procedures in place to keep people healthy. They were warm and friendly as always and I came away with a fresh cut and color. Feels great!

Darby always does such an amazing job! Just got my hair done yesterday and left feeling like a million bucks! Which is exactly how you want to feel leaving the salon. The color and style are perfect! I ve been going there for a year now and I can say my highlights always grow out so nicely, giving me time to have that lived in blonde without having to rush back and get my roots touched up every 8 weeks. When I switched to Darby I feel like she really took the time to listen to what I wanted for my hair and she always takes her time. Thanks Darby!

Love this salon! The stylists and staff are very friendly. I have never had a bad experience in all the years I have been getting my hair done here and that has been since the doors first opened. My mom and sisters also get their hair done here by different stylists and they have all been great! I also bring my children here and they LOVE it too! I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for a new salon!

After trying multiple places in the Grand Rapids area and rarely getting a cut I liked, I found Cheeky Strut, and I'm so glad I did.

Whitney can cut curly hair like no other! I have gone to many other hair stylist and she takes the volume out of my hair and makes it managable. She is very knowledgable but listens to your concerns too.

I saw Mary for a spray tan, I wanted to see how it looked before I get one done for my wedding. I couldn't be more pleased! Mary is extremely nice, outgoing, and friendly. She made me feel very comfortable (which is great since you're standing there half naked with a stranger spraying you haha). My tan looks so natural-which is hard for me since I'm blonde and fair. The whole spray tan process was great because she took a blow dryer after each section to help it dry and then after everything was done she put baby powder on to help with the post tan sticky-ness--which made a huge difference. Everyone I encountered at the salon was very welcoming as well. I 100% recommend and will definitely go back:)

I have never written an online review before, but felt the need to post about my recent experience at Cheeky Strut. I recently moved to GR and was in need of a new salon. I went to Facebook and posted a 'Favorite Salon in GR' recommendation request to my friends. I had multiple comments, but two reliable friends recommended Cheeky Strut. Seeing as I had heard of the salon prior, and had two friends recommend, I thought I should give it a try. I scheduled a balayage and hair cut. This was my first hair appointment post-quarantine, so I knew things would probably be different. The salon did warn me when I scheduled that they were not drying or styling hair due to 'excess air circulation' which, I guess, was understandable at the time. However, looking back, why would a salon want to operate if they can't see their final product and make sure their clients walk away happy? Instead we all walked out looking like we just got out of the shower. I talked to my stylist about what I wanted and showed her inspiration from Pinterest. I have only ever gotten balayage done to my hair, so I know that it can be done and my request was not an unusual one. I have naturally straight, dirty blonde hair. I wanted to lighten things up for summer with a balayage and get some face framing highlights. Noting outlandish. Everyone gets balayage these days, anyway. Well, since I couldn't see my hair dried and styled before I left the salon, I had to wait until I was home and hair dried to see what an absolute disaster it was. ORANGE. STREAKS. LINES. How did that happen? Oh - forgot to mention one important detail - it was also more than I had EVER paid for high-end balayage. I had to wait until Monday to call and request an appointment to fix it and was able to get in later that week. There was no "I'm sorry, we will take care of that for you at no cost to you" nothing...I had to actually ask if it would be at no cost and expected a little bit of sympathy, but no. The same stylist who did my hair prior was responsible for fixing it. When I arrived, she at least acknowledged that she 'would have never let me leave if she had seen that' (if they blow dried my hair). She said she had used a new lightener she hadn't tried before and it didn't lift the same...and asked if she could redo my whole head. An entire appointment later and she STILL could not blow dry my hair. So again I left with wet hair. Although it was done at no cost and was no longer orange, it was YELLOW and not a tone any girl would want. It was NOT balayage. It was my roots, then YELLOW. No smooth transitions or blending at ALL. More of a horribly executed ombre. I FINALLY got my hair repaired at a reliable salon in my home town last week and my hairstylist could not believe the horrible quality I had received. She said that it was laughable and so sorry that I had to walk around with that head of hair for three months. She did a custom balayage to repair all of the mismatched dye jobs from my Cheeky Strut color and I could not be happier. I felt the need to share my experience with such a well-reviewed high-end salon. Although maybe my experience was an anomaly, I will not be returning to Cheeky Strut and will not recommend it to anyone I know. Pictures 1, 2, 3 are results from my first appointment. Cheeky Strut is the best. It's location, products, style and staff are perfect. I wanted to write a review because of the awesome feeling you get when leaving this salon, feeling happy and refreshed. Not many places make you feel like that. The boutique design and chic environment definitely makes you feel right at home and all of the stylists are professional, friendly and experienced. Hannah worked on my hair and did an amazing job. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable about hair and can fix any hair concerns you have. Also, you can't beat the location, being in the heart of the GR city.

I'm a huge fan of Cheeky's in house massage therapist, Susan Lowden. I was given a massage with Susan as a gift and now she's my go to when I have stress or just need a calming and healing boost. Now I give massages with Susan as a gift to my partner, to friends and family. There really is an art to massage and Susan is a true artisan of her craft. Love this!

This place is amazing! Stylists are super friendly and soooo good at what they do. I hadn t gone to a hair stylist in probably 10 years due to bad experiences and awful chops. I started going to Cheeky Strut a year before my wedding so that I could get my hair perfect, and each time was better than the last. They are beyond professional and take care of their clients as if they were friends. I buy product pretty much every time and my hair stylist recommends something new each time that I absolutely LOVE. She gets me out of my comfort zone with my hair and even did my hair for my wedding. I ve seen 3 stylists there and each one made me feel welcome and did a fantastic job. Britt is and always will be my favorite, just because she s more of a friend now than my hair stylist.

Whoever Syd Kid is, they are completely out of line. Getting your hair done is not a necessity, and Cheeky Strut has handled their return to work SO WELL. Even during quarantine, I made sure to tip my stylist because they weren t able to return to work to protect both clients and stylists. Britt was nice enough to help me with some of my hair experiences during quarantine like removing my extensions All I had to do was wait in my car, I texted them when I was ready, walked up to the door and if someone was there you wait no more than MAYBE 5 minutes. They checked my temp, had me sign a health form, gave me something to wipe my phone, and sanitized. Every possible safety protocol was taken to protect their clients and their stylists. I would rather go through the inconvenience of a 5 Minute wait outside and a temp check than go through a virus that ll keep me at home sick for 2 weeks. There are several businesses who should not be back open because they are not being safe about their return, such as letting people sit too close together and not making sure masks are kept on. Cheeky Strut is the only business so far that has put the health and safety of OTHERS first, above reopening and making money. I will continue to support this business and their employees, and if you don t like the way they re being run during a freaking PANDEMIC maybe you should evaluate yourself first. It s a hair salon, not a hospital. Nobody is forcing you to go and they have sent NUMEROUS emails detailing their rules and safety precautions, as well as posting them on all social media platforms. If you can t read, you shouldn t be going out quite yet.

I had to comfort my wife as she cried over a botched haircut. They fixed for free. Now they botched a simple highlight job. Instead of blonde it's some dark color. They asked her to come back later to fix as if we lived next door. So two appointments require two additional appointments to fix. Too many other options to solicit this place. Avoid.

GO SEE BRITT! She has been my stylish for...4 year now? I used to hop between salons and now I'll follow her to the ends of the earth. I always walk out super confident and ready to take on the world. Never have I ever experienced such consistent and wonderful service and performance in a hair salon. Now, I ENIOY getting my hair done instead of hoping it turns out the way I want. Stop paying for a risky hairdo and just ask for Britt. Tell her Madison sent you and she'll hook you up!

Fantastic salon with friendly and knowledgeable staff!

First let me say, the owner Katie Lynn is one of the most genuine people I've ever met. I saw another stylist at Cheeky for a while and ended up leaving after one too many poor experiences. KL reached out to me personally after I left to see what she could do to make it right. I waited a while and bounced around to different GR salons, but eventually came back to Cheeky and made an appointment with KL. I'll never leave again! Her techniques are cutting edge, and I always leave feeling beautiful. She and the salon she's built deserve every success that has come their way!

It was ok. I went back to my normal place, chasing vanity. My stylist did talk about other clients which isn't in great form but if I recall the cut was fine. She fixed a cheap stylists cut which was awful I will never do jcpenney salon again!

I am very picky about my hair. I really loved the stylist, Teresa, that they set my first appointment up with. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and help get me the shape I needed to make my hair tolerable until it grows a bit longer. She is super fun and chatty.

The space is gorgeous. I loved the light fixtures and the location. They have really fun swag in the waiting area for purchase.

It is quite spendy, which is why I rated the place a 4 instead of a 5.

I have been going to Cheeky Strut for about three years now, and I was delighted with my experience after their brief closure due to the pandemic. Parking was easy, the health screening was practical and fair, and the haircut experience itself was as great as it s ever been! I hardly even noticed I was wearing a mask because Megan worked effortlessly around it. Everything clean and polished as I ve come to expect from the place, and the product displays were very open. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a modern, sleek, and friendly salon.

My experience at Cheeky Strut was amazing. My hair is SUPER thick and a really unique natural auburn color that I was trying to lighten. For me, not only do I need someone with experience dealing/cutting thick hair but also dealing with different shades of red...especially when a lot of stylist put cheap product in your hair resulting in an orange color ( has happened). I was THRILLED and very confident when I met my amazing stylist Monica. She listened to what I wanted, made suggestions, educated me and made me feel very comfortable. Monica, thank you for making me feel beautiful and confident. I will definitely be coming back! :)

I ve been getting my hair done at Cheeky for 6+ years now and I can t recommend going there enough. The staff and atmosphere are amazing and super friendly. Cassandra does such a great job with my blonde locks! With everything going on in the world today they did such a great job at keeping their staff and clients safe since re-opening after the COVID shutdown.

BOTCHED. I have 1 inch bangs. 1. Inch. Bangs. The stylist told me "they'll grow" as she realized what she had done. Felt great about everything as the vibes of the place and my hair started off good, obviously these people are good at the art of deceit. Save your time, money, and hair.

I've been getting my hair cut by Sadie for years and absolutely adore Cheeky Srut. I was very anxious for my first post quarantine hair cut, and it was a phenomenal experience. The checkin experience with temp check and sanitation is smooth and quick, and they've set everything up so perfectly that nothing felt stressful with the changes they've had to make. Sadie was able to work around my mask so effortlessly that I didnt even notice I was wearing one. So proud of the hard work of the whole staff, going there always brighten a my day significantly

I've gone to Cheeky Strut for almost two years now and it's easily been one of the best decisions I've made. There are so many good things I could say about Britt and Mary but I'll try to keep it somewhat short.

Quick version: Britt and Mary are so creative and passionate for what they do. They're nice, friendly, and welcoming people that make it super easy to talk to and pass the time. I've never had any doubt in them or any regret after they're done working their magic. You can't go wrong if you're working with either of them.

Britt colors my hair; we started with a small green streak on my bangs which has evolved to some kind of majestic flower bed of colors on my head. She has amazing creativity and always has either a list of ideas prepared or quickly finds new twists we can add when coloring my hair. Shes passionate about what shes doing and it truly shows every time I leave. Beyond her sensational styling skills, she has a great personality and is a joy to talk to. I can't thank her enough for all the super cool hair.

Mary cuts my hair; I have trust issues when it comes to allowing people to cut my hair. Right away, she convinced me that I was in good hands and she's proved it every time. She is great to talk to and has an adorable puppy that you should ask about. My only complaint is that there aren't more pictures of her puppy on her station, but that can be worked on. She is also very passionate and cares about what she does. She manages to make sure not a hair is out of place, while still maintaining a natural looking cut. She's able to understand my non descriptive, not at all helpful ways of describing what I want done and executes it perfectly!

I can't say enough about Carly Jo at Cheeky Strut. I've been to top salons in NYC, Paris, Tokyo, etc and Carly Jo does my color the BEST. I wish I could fly to GR every time I need a root touch-up. :)

They forced me to sit outside while I waited. It's not even about capacity as they were not at the limit. I was not offered a drink. The employees are rude and curt. They keep all the doors locked and will not let you back in without calling them if you leave the building for any reason for any amount of time. I understand concerns about safety but I haven't been to any other business who used covid as an excuse to be rude and apathetic towards customers.

Great salon, very professional, expertly trained and friendly staff.

I will no longer go here to get my hair cut. I have tried three different stylists and as time passes they all seem to find a way they like to cut your hair and disregard what you say as far as what you would like. Amelia told me to my face she would not cut my bangs the way I would like as it would, "cut my face in half" and she doesn't like to cut hair that way. I was left with sheep dog looking bangs that I had to wear around until I found another stylist at another salon to fix my hair.

I am not very sensitive to having my hair done, but as she was washing my hair she rang it out so hard it felt like she was pulling my hair out. I made a joke saying it felt like a face lift, she didn't get the hint. I flat out told her she was hurting me and she told me that she had to do it and maybe my head was just sensitive. This was my 6th-7th haircut by her and she never did that before. Sorry my dear, if you are hurting your client, you are doing something wrong.

Combine that with her wearing inappropriate outfits to work. I don't care what people wear on the street that is their prerogative. But when you are cutting my hair I don't like to look at your butt cheeks sticking out of your shorts in my face. It seems that the salon puts more emphasis on the fashion the stylists they wear than the skills that the stylists learn. Like I said, the longer the stylist is there, the more diva like they are and tell you how they are going to cut your hair instead of letting you pick how you want your hair cut.

Also this has happened many many times and bothers me to no end. Girls who are not working or are waiting for a client sit near your stylist and gossip. I don't think it's appropriate to gossip in front of clients, especially the whole haircut. I want my stylist to focus on my hair, not who slept with who, or who said what to whom.

This is not a "salon" as stated. It is a beautiful space that does put on a good vibe when you walk in. Sadly you do not get the quality that the building exudes in services. This includes haircuts and eye brow waxes.

I'm not saying you can't find a diamond in the rough, but be ready to either get lucky or do a lot of trial and error i that salon.

I am really happy with my hair color. I think I'm pretty picky about my hair, but Anna does an excellent job and I always feel beautiful when I leave the salon. My hair looks healthier than it has in years.

I am continually impressed with my experiences at Cheeky Strut. My hair has been completely transformed to thick, healthy hair under the skill of KL and the products they use. It took about 6-12 months of consistent visits to fully transform my dull, damaged hair but I'm so glad that I trusted KL and her team because my hair has never looked better. I've also seen a few other stylists in a pinch and have always been so happy with the level of customer service and the way my hair looks when I walk out the door. Would highly recommend Cheeky Strut to anyone looking for a top-notch salon experience!

This was my first time going to Cheeky and I had high expectations based on everything I had heard. I ve been doing the same thing with my hair for years and wanted something different, so after nearly a year of contemplating I decided to go from blonde to red. I had a consultation with my stylist to discuss my vision, then followed up a few weeks later for the coloring appointment. The stylist didn t remember me even though we had a recent consultation together, so that concerned me a little at first. I understand she sees a lot of clients but she legit didn t remember me or what we discussed at all, which made me feel unimportant. After determining the color red I wanted, she proceeded to mix up the color and applied it. I was under the impression that since I wasn t looking for gray coverage and that this was going to be such a big change that she would use semi or demi permanent color...but I was wrong. Turns out she used a permanent red on me, and after a couple weeks I ve determined red just isn t for me. Not her fault there, but now it will be even more difficult for me to be color corrected with a permanent dye vs semi permanent. I also felt the price I paid was a lot considering it was just an all over color application. Unfortunately I will most likely go elsewhere for my color correction.

I m new in town and had an appointment with Cassandra. I had seen her once before 6 weeks ago and although she made my hair too white and used after coloring products without asking me (which raised my bill an extra $75), I decided to give it a second try. I had the unfortunate luck that morning of not being able to find parking and it raining and windy and stormy. I called them 3 min after my scheduled appointment to let them know I was trying to park and they made it seem like all was okay. I finally found a spot, paid the meter, schlepped my four-month-old baby and daughter through the windy rain. Now I was late, according to my watch, 17 min. Despite that she had booked me with extra time because we weren t sure if I would need a full or half highlight, she turned me away. Cassandra told me she didn t have enough time now because she double books and her other client was already there. Turning me away basically meant that she was losing a client but she didn t seem to care. Me standing there with two kids soaking wet. I understand having salon policies but I also think that she and the salon should judge the situation case by case and not forget about the person behind the hair. I was recommended to her by the owner of a local agency who has been using her for fashion related jobs. What they don t realize is that they lost more than one client this morning.

Walked by often and they always seemed friendly from the window so I took a chance and went in. I have a lot of curls so not everyone can work with them. They understood this and paired me with a wonderful stylist named Cassandra. They were so nice and warm and funny. I lived everything about the experience would highly recommend it to anyone.

Overpriced for what it is. Stylist did not listen to what I wanted and it was almost $300. What?! We are in Grand Rapids not NYC/LA. Chill. Ultimately went back to the J Salon and got exactly what I wanted at a more reasonable price and better service. I'd avoid this place.

John is the only person IU be found in Gran Rapids that can do a true "Prohibition Cut!". He does a great fade and knows how to use a straight razor!

I really liked the vibe of this hair salon. I wish my hairstylist in particular would have been a little gentler on my hair. I have some major breakage due to the hard pulling for a blowout. It could be argued this would happen anywhere but it felt particularly rough.

Let me start off by saying... The service was hospitable. I was offered beverages, they kept making sure I was comfortable, and overall, my hair looks great - but not for the price. I chose what level stylist I wanted based on my budget, and was told I'd be paying around $88 for what I wanted. My hair was blonde on the bottom and about four inches at the top was my brown hair growing in. I asked that the color be lightened on top to blend with the bottom more. She said she could do that, no problem... She did my hair away from a mirror so I couldnt see everything she was doing until the very end. At first I was absolutely in love with my hair! I was very impressed with it... But when I went to checkout, I about passed out when they charged me a price far from $88. I asked them "How is it so much? I asked for my roots to be touched up and was told it would be around $88 based on my level stylist." And they acted dumb like "Oh well, she did balyage highlights and a keratin gloss treatment as well as a layered trim. Plus materials used and blahblahblah." I tried to argue with them for a while but I wasnt getting anywhere so I just bit the bullet and watched my money flow out the window. For $88, the hair i have would be beautiful! Perfect, even... but for $240, I expect it to be indescribable. And its not. Very very very disappointed with their dishonesty. I feel scammed, let down, and cheated. The hair is lovely but i wont be going back. And then they have the audactity to ask me if I wanted to buy an $80 bottle of shampoo.

I have visited Cheeky Strut numerous times and could not be more satisfied! Corinne is a GREAT stylist who pays attention to exactly what you want. She is polite and engaging and will talk if you are in the chatty mood and also will respect if you want some quiet time during your appointment. All together I have always left LOVING my color and cut. Highly recommended!!!!

Cheeky Strut Salon houses the most talented, creative, inspiring and phenomenal team in the Mid-West. The stylists are led by non other than the hair queen herself, KL, and are thoroughly trained to provide each client the best service. I should know, I went through the training. Hands down without a doubt recommend this salon to everyone!

I've been going to Scotti Langley every 4-6 weeks (hair grows fast) to have my hair bleached and trimmed for a little over a year and I've never looked better. Still trying to get used to random people complimenting me for how nice my hair looks!

A little pricier than anticipated... But great service! With coffee served in fun mugs while you wait.... Not long enough to finish a cup. But you can bring it with you to the chair!

Prior to a month ago I went to cheeky for brows (siren and proper same owner) and special event hair. I had a trial with one of their make up artists who did a good job for my wedding. My only request was that she jazz up a notch. I scheduled my entire wedding party for hair and make up for my November 2016 event in March of 2016. Last month I asked for big curly hair and dark dramatic make up for my engagement photos. The wedding coordinator provided the staff with photos of examples of what I wanted done. I walked out with a blowout and make up that I could have done myself; not even a touch close to what I requested. I had no opportunity to make them redo anything because they ran behind making me late for my photos. I tried to salvage the look as best I could when I got home, but there was so much product in my hair to straightened my natural wave barely would hold. Today I seen some of my engagement photos and wanted to cry because my hair looked terrible. It didn't even look like me because I never straighten my hair. I immediately advised the coordinator of my disappointment. The salon manager was supposed to follow up with me in a few days. Over a week passed and I heard nothing so I followed up. The owner of the company Katie Lynn then called me; she was very condescending and acted as if she knew what I felt just because she had previously been a bride. She was very rude I know she was not even trying to listen repeating I am just not the cheeky type or look so she cant make me happy; no one ever complains about them. I then advised her that I provided photos of the look that I wanted in March when it was all scheduled; per her salon manager the staff was supposedly able to do the look. According to Katie Lynn they could not. Either the staff is not as good as she thinks or she is a closed minded person and only wants them to make everyone look like clones of herself with natural make up/hair. She proceeded to cancel my whole wedding party for my wedding in two months; telling me she was afraid my wedding party would not be happy even though they never had issues. I advised her the bigger issue was her canceling my wedding party two months before my date and having to find some place else to provide hair/ make up services. She gave me a refund but would not put it on my card (my original form of payment) instead she mailed a check. I hate my photos, I have had to hunt for new hair and make up for a party of eight, and why should I be punished for her staff's lack of diversity in hair styling/ make up application and following directions? They should send me $500 more to retake my engagement photos and pay me time missed from work as far as I am concerned. They turned a fun day into a stressful one because they did not care what I wanted it was about the "Cheeky" look. So if you don't fit their carbon copy mold of boring don't go there. It is called hot rollers and eyeliner...ask any pageant girl. Homeless looking is not the look I was going for and I have been provided with better make up application at the cosmetics counters in Macys.

Well, going into this salon I thought I would have a good experience, I was wrong.. My hair stylist didn't have a clue as to what she was doing about 85% of the time; so much as to where we had to completely redo my hair and it still didn't More

I always leave the salon feeling so much more confident and beautiful. I recently had Summer for a cut, and I LOVED her too. You really can t go wrong here.

I was fortunate enough to have the Cheeky Strut/Siren and Proper team for my wedding. Britt did my bridal hair, and it was perfection. My entire bridal team LOVED their hair as well, and them being happy made me so happy. The team came in, listened to ideas my bridal party had, and did such a beautiful job. Worth every penny spent. Never going back . Told the girl what i wanted and she in the end chopped off way more than i wanted and butchered my left side. Went back to get it fixed and ended up with the same girl who cut it dry on unwashed and messy hair and still ddnt make it any better. Went to 2 other stylists since then to fix the mess and its still not 100%. I was trying to grow it out. Now i gotta start all over

GO SEE BRITT! I have been looking for a hairstylist in the Grand Rapids area for about 3 years now. I have tried several well-known salons and hairstylists in the area and Britt is by far the best. She spent 4 hours doing a color correction and made my hair absolutely beautiful and exactly how i wanted it. She is super outgoing and friendly and great to connect and talk with during the process. It is 100% worth the expensive prices, especially if you are looking for amazing color! Thanks Britt, you are a rock-star! Also, if you like wine, they have complimentary wine that just adds to the experience! :)

Anna Gavin has been my stylist for several years, and I am always impressed with both her service and Cheeky Strut! I have had cuts, color, highlights, sugaring, brow tint and several rounds of extensions with Anna. Her work with blondes is beyond, and her product recommendations completely on point. I leave feeling fabulous and confident that my hair will grow out between appointments beautifully, which is just as important as day one. I highly recommend Anna at Cheeky Strut, and the care taken around the COVID-19 restrictions and the work they have invested in order to make the salon safe for ALL.

Britt does wonders with my hair. I get it bleached on top and she's always very meticulous and informative about decisions we've made. She continually learns and is always trying new techniques and products to get my hair the proper color. She's knowledgeable about the whole process (going from brown to blonde and making sure it's not yellow), as well as the at home routine. I would recommend her for everything, she takes pride in her work and loves to be creative.

I see Mary for my haircuts. I've always been somewhat picky about my hair as it tends to be flat and very straight. She does exactly what I ask and even offers suggestions on styles. She is very detailed and is always checking to make sure I'm happy with it. I've never came away with a bad haircut. Friendly, genuinely enjoys what she does, and loves to see her clients happy!

My stylist Scotti listens to my ideas and helps me make the fun and adventurous style choices that bring endless compliments from strangers. Her cuts and color leave me overly ecstatic with my hair through every stage - from walking out of the salon looking like a million bucks to walking back in 8 weeks later, STILL looking amazing as my color has subtly grown out and my cut has grown to a style that doesn't even look like I haven't gotten it trimmed in 8 weeks! This has been extra helpful during the Covid situation - as it STILL looks like an amazing style and cut. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. I have literally spent YEARS searching for someone who could handle my hair...it is thick, coarse, curly, and long. I have had more than my share of terrible haircuts, since many stylists don't know know how to cut my hair. Plus, as the years have gone by, I have discovered that I need to hide some grays, and I didn't want to change my hair color. Then I came across Cheeky Strut (insert chorus of angels here)! KL is a hair genius! She manages to make my crazy mane look amazing....it is manageable, and cut to my specifications. Not only that, no one would be able to guess that my hair has been colored (well, until now!) I have had so many services at Cheeky Strut....spray tans, make-up, hair cuts/color, hair-dos....and I don't think I have EVER walked away dissatisfied in even the smallest way. All of the stylists, as well as the front desk people, have been friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is urban, but not cold. I could not recommend Cheeky Strut more! Fabulous!

I had been going to Cheeky for about 3 years. I loved them, they did my wedding hair, always took care of me. However, the past 5 months I have seen a severe decline in service. I have a level 5 stylist, she is now so overbooking herself that I had an ASSISTANT, yes and assistant do my bayalage. When the color turned out way too warm, because she was so behind (likely from being overbooked) she still had to have the assistant fix it. I left after 6.5 hours there with my hair no where near what it looks like normally. I had been worked on by 3 different people, the level 5 and then two assistants. For the record my hair is not super long, I wasn t doing anything crazy. I have never felt so stressed and upset after getting my hair done. Getting your hair done is supposed to be fun and make you feel awesome. I felt stressed, unimportant, and disregarded. Cheeky has turned into a place that unless you re friends with people there outside of the salon you basically are invisible. I say this because the time before this most recent experience, my stylist again overbooked herself so her friend who was going out that night could have some quick curls put in. Her friend didn t have an appointment, but per the stylist, texted and asked if she could get in real quick. I had a booked appointment and an important celebratory dinner with my husband that night, but my hair didn t get curled. I m sorry, so you cut out a standard finish to the service for a booked client so your friend can get some curls put in?! Not ok! After 3 years and a wedding, I will never come back and will never recommend Cheeky. If they go back to not overbooking stylists, and developing actual relationships, and providing a positive experience they might be able to lift themselves from this despicable decline in service. For fairness, it did appear that they didn t charge me for something while I was there, the bill was lower than I was expecting. However, after 6.5 hours and being worked on by a student vs a full-time employee that I booked my service with, not charging me for PART of the day is honestly the least that they could do considering that I ve already booked a color correction at a different salon which will not be a cheap bill. Don t bother with Cheeky. Yes, you hear about them everywhere, but that s only because they have a very effective social media presence. There are other salons that have better service, have better results, are cheaper, and will make you at least feel like you re worth their time.

I absolutely LOVE this salon and my stylist, Cassandra. It took me so long to find a salon and stylist that I enjoyed and Cheeky Strut is wonderful. They are always so kind and respectful. Although it can be a bit pricey depending on who you see, it is so worth it because I ve loved my hair after every appointment.

I go to Monica, who was a Level 1 stylist when I first started going, but she is AMAZING, and I have honestly never been happier with my hair. All of the stylists are high end, and the salon is beautiful and has great vibes. They have a boutique in the front of the store, and I have bought a few different products, and they are awesome. It was my first time coming here and I also traveled all the way from Lansing just to get my hair done because of the overwhelming positive reviews about this salon. I was super nervous because I've never done anything different with my hair besides fully coloring it. However, Mary did an AMAZING job with my first-ever balayage! The salon itself is very modern and they definitely sold me with their full candy bar section and hot chocolate along with their friendly staff! From now on this will be the only salon I'll go to; it was definitely worth the drive and I will return again!

I visited Cheeky Strut last week after their reopening with new COVID-19 salon rules and guidelines. Not once did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. They have done everything they can to let their clients know that they are putting us first. Not only do they want to give us great hair, but they also want to keep us safe as well. I really was pleased with how well they have handled the reopening, and want to let them know their hard work to keep this new process running smoothly isn't going unnoticed.

I had highlights and a blow dry. My hair length is just below my shoulders. It took about 3 hours and cost $230.00 without tips included. There is only city street parking. It is too expensive for me to return.

I tried so many different stylists and I was never happy with my cuts. I have naturally curly hair and I just couldn't find anyone that could cut it "just right". A friend referred me to Whitney and said "she will know what to do, trust her". I am so glad I went! Whitney will give you a cut that feels great, has movement, and is easier to style. I don't know how she does it, but her skills are amazing! If you can't get in to see Whitney I would recommend any of the stylists at Cheeky Strut: they are fun, friendly, and good at what they do.

Cheeky Strut is the best salon and it makes me incredibly happy to be able to get my hair done there. I love it for a few reasons, the stylists (and all employees) are so friendly and down to earth, and my stylist Amelia constantly does a beautiful and articulate job with my thick hair. I have never gotten so many compliments in my life in regards to the color and shape of my hair. She is super talented and always takes into consideration your personal style. I've gone to Cheeky Strut since it opened, and to KL before that! I live in St. Joseph, so I have to drive almost an hour and a half to get there, but it is SO worth it. I have tried several places closer to me, and always leave them, not only dissatisfied, but usually horrified. It is so worth the drive to get the kind of service and talent I get from KL & Cheeky Strut. I always leave there feeling amazing and beautiful.
