Good was ok and sushi specials are reasonably priced for the amount of food. Unfortunately service was very slow for our table of 5 but they apologized for wait.

I've known Sevruga for a long time (in fact, I worked there for three years at a stage) and I'm a little disappointed with the meal my friend and I had on Sunday.
Freddie was an incredible waiter, and the 'renovations' were both needed and look nice, but I strongly feel that Sevruga is starting to slip quality wise (I feel you guys are starting to 'cut corners' in all the wrong ways).
The fake, insipid, transparent Japanese mayo replacement that you are now using is pretty disgusting (it didn't even vaguely resemble the original but something else altogether), to both look at and eat, the wasabi tastes like it's one of those cheap out-of-the-tube variations and the soy sauce seemed watered down but also had a distinct vinegary taste to it - is it off? Are you watering it down with vinegar? Or is it some cheaper variety? Either way, it's pretty gross.
The sushi could have been nice without these, sadly, fundamental extras, but overall was pretty terrible and left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Literally. Sometimes cutting costs and corners can be very expensive - both my friend and I decided we won't be back. I'm sad to say bye to an old favourite (the same happened with Beluga), but there are loads of sushi places in Cape Town to choose from.
Awesome.. good service and great food...the sushi was out of this world..... loved the decor too.....
Excellent food and a great flavor all around. Friendly staff and an awesome view of everyone passing by. Fantastic!
Lovely restaurant in salubrious setting. Great fish and seafood. Great service.
Sushi special everyday. Half price 12 till 7pm, I think. They do riceless sushi...
Delicious food, great variety of seafood and fish and very good service in a very touristy and pleasant sector.
WOW What can I say. Their new menu was introduced on Saturday the 15th December. There are still a few of the signature menu items on the new menu. I have asked to add the prawns to my fillet. Cook to perfection. I had the scallops for a starter and the cauliflower served with it has the right amount of crunch and all flavors worked together. Be prepared for a fine dining experience. I had the non alcoholic cocktails, the Spicy Mango and Orange and the Blood Orange, and this was both refreshing and enjoyable. This place has a laid back atmosphere and I would recommend this place for the views also
Its exactly what you would expect. Pretentious sounding, medioucre tasting food at pretentious prices served by pretentious waiters. Hostesses are either underage or below average IQ school girls. Be sure to grab a handful of jellybeans on your way out.
Sevruga is easily the best restaurant at the Waterfront! The decor is a mixture of 60s chic and modern elegance, and its location on the water provides beautiful views of the harbor. But the true highlight here is the food, which is an eclectic combination of seafood, sushi, and dim sum. I had the duck buns and the crab California rolls, which were both exceptional. A tip: from 3-7 they have a winter happy hour, which gives 50% off all cocktails, sushi, and dim sum. The discount makes the price unbeatable. A must if you re hungry in the area.
Good service and very good food! The atmosphere is cosy and I personally prefer it more than beluga. Good selection on the menu with the dim sum on top form as usual. Sushi was a bit bland, but other mains were really good. The ribs dish had way too many onion rings.
Try the Sushi! Extremely good service and food with nice view and athmospere!
Went for their 2 course special. Service was great, food was exceptional and I can't wait to go again.
If you are looking for a place with a great service and delicious meal, go to Sevruga! We had two Frozen margaritas, Poke bowl, sword fish and dessert and loved everything! Our waiter was the best and made us feel welcomed. Price of the meal: 660 rands
Not great . We went for sushi on Saturday . After being taken to Savruga 2 weekends ago with friends , we were craving sushi and decided to treat ourselves to some sushi at Savruga again . We got there and ordered whatever we wanted. To our disappointment the sushi was not as great, but thought okay we don t like complaining and we are getting it at the half price special same as two weekends before .( there was a sign outside too )
When we got the bill we saw that it was not the half price special and asked the waiter about it . He said that it had been changed during the past two weeks and he wasn t aware of it actually . The half price only applies to classic sushi now .
I m sorry but as a good waiter at an upmarket pricey restaurant, you should know your specials ,and be mentioning it to you customers . Especially if they ordering a whole lot of sushi . It makes no sense that he did not mention anything about it .
Anyways we wouldn t mind even paying full price if the sushi was amazing but it was very VERY average
So not worth the amount we paid .
I Don t usually leave reviews on restaurants but felt I had to on this one as it was a serious let down .
Wouldn t recommend
One of my favorite restaurants. Love the vibe outside in summer and the warmth inside in winter. They usually also have some 3 course menu which seems discounted in a way. Sister restaurant to Beluga. Their peanut butter flavored calamari heads is my personal favorite.
Excellent oriental food in the western cape!!
Lively music outdoors with delicious food. We were thoroughly surprised with the meticulous attention paid to each dish including deserts. Loved the prosecco
Food was good, unfortunately they messed up my reservation even after me confirming twice, and then they made as if I did not confirm, my guests were very disappointed been inside sitting on top of the kitchen
Food is always good. It is expensive but worth it. Romantic place and a good place to have dinner with friends. I always enjoy the food. Good views. I will recommend this place to family and friends.
This place was by far my favourite restaurant for the week I was staying at the V&A Waterfront. Their service is of 5 star status. My waiter Emson was absolutely a star. He went over and beyond what his service should be. He sold the restaurant to me so well that as long as I'm in Cape Town, I must eat at Sevruga.
Their food can't be described by words....their wine list was also impressive.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfectly cosy with a 5 star look and feel.
If you want 5 star food, service and decor, Sevruga is the one.
Have been here several times. Great service and quality staff. Food is good.
We followed the recommendations, oysters, seafood platter for two, etc. and were not disappointed. Service and wine too. Everything great.
Decided to have dinner here on Friday night to celebrate my birthday. Absolutely loved every moment! I had the mussel pot starter, sushi as my main and white chocolate martini! Love love love Will definitely visit again
Awesome vibe. Lovely service. Abit pricey but food is good.
Nice atmosphere at the terrace, great cocktails. Enjoy the view and treat yourself with some nice drinks. We did not have dinner there, so not able to rate.
Table of 5 had dinner here on 16th Feb 2020. 2 of us had Salmon sashimi - one in a salad and one in a platter. In the early hours of Mondaymorning we were both violently ill. Other members of the party who sampled small pieces of the salmon complained of stomach cramps. While we can t be certain it is highly likely that Sevruga gave us food poisoning.
Restaurant has not engaged.
Sushi MO longer to the old standard. Too much rice meager on taste. Service friendly but inattentive
Best seafood ever...a little crowdy and bumpy but awesome !!
Extremely poor service overall with over priced food that tastes like any other low budget restaurant. We initially reserved an outside table but got seated inside instead after having to wait for our table to be set up (despite being phoned 2 hours prior to confirm our booking). Dirty cutlery and table clothes were the cherry on top of a disappointing experience...
Great food and service. Always has a great vibe. Their food is fairly expensive though. I recommend their Dim Sum and sushi, some of the best in Cape Town. And they give you jelly beans with your bill and at the door :)
Always a winner with their delicious sushi specials. Great service and decor. Well done!
Extremely overpriced and portions for a 10 yr old r800 for two people with one drink each and only a main meal. Crazy
It was absolutely a wonderful experience. First time in Cape Town and the reception has been all to great...The restaurant is absolutely fantastic 5stars to you...
Great food and friendly service. I love this place, but the staff were having a bit of a meltdown due to the place being full, some arguments near the kitchen.
Only 4 stars as it took a long time to get our food this time.
Great 50% off on cocktails and sushi. Delicious fresh salads and fish were served. Restaurant situation is on the Harbour at the V&A Waterfront so the view is beautiful and the restaurant inside is cool on a very hot summer day in Cape Town. Great ambiance and really good service.
For a local, it's a very expensive restaurant....but worth every penny! The service is wonderful, cocktails are yummy and the food is devine! The atmosphere is exactly what one wants when dining at a fine restaurant with a beautiful setting.
Great offer: great Susi plates with very fine cocktails. Very, very delicious and super friendly staff. How have been there twice in the last 8 days. Be guaranteed in our last holiday week again. Highly recommended
Both visits were worth 5 *.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed on the third visit.
The positive thing was
the food and cocktails were delicious again, great.
The negative:
A very unfriendly waiter. One got the impression that he was disappointed that we only ordered the offer with sushi and cocktails. He then penetrantly asked if he could bring anything else. Basically good, but not in frequency. When he brought the food, the table was full. What does he do? He puts the sushi plate right in front of me and removes my plate. Mind you, we were 2 people and ordered the plate for both. Towards the end he asked if he could bring the bill. Since we still had almost full glasses of cocktails, we said no. What does he do? 3 minutes later he brought the bill and put it on the table without words. When we had drunk after 15 minutes and wanted to pay by card, he actually asked if he can increase the amount by 10%, as a tip. This was probably the upper joke. Incredible. We basically give as about 10% as a tip, but we have never been asked about it. Of course there was nothing for such a service, although my wife is always very generous. Then I was disappointed by the fact that I had told the matter when leaving the lady at the entrance, which then wanted to know what had happened. Unfortunately, nobody reported to my restaurant on the same or next day's written complaint. A pity, that's why I've broadened my recession.
On our first visit, this waiter was the opposite, in terms of courtesy and service.
Eat as before 5 *
Service on the third visit 1 *
Because of this incident, I can not award 5 stars, so reduced to 3 stars.
Unfortunately just about everything I wanted on the dim sum menu was sold out at around 3pm so I'm guessing go earlier to avoid disappointment . They were out of prawns and duck .
The food used to be incredible but now merely average to good . Portion size is fairly small . Prices are higher than other good restaurants . I think management has changed hands a few times .
Ambience and music is superb and service is good .
Mashed potatoes promised to eat. (According to the menu) When the food came I saw nothing, when asked me the liquid Something under the meat sold as mashed potatoes. For that too expensive. The ordered napkins never arrived. Too bad...
First time dining here at Sevruga. Food was amazing! Top notch service and the atmosphere is great as well. We had the snow dragon roll, handrolls, seared tuna salad, and salmon nigiri. The snow dragon roll was the best and very flavourful, it has tempura prawns, salmon and topped with crabs, and the combination of them comes together very well. Handrolls were very good, can taste the freshness of the fish. Seared tuna salad was refreshing and the salad dressing has a very light nutty flavour. Nigiri was ok, the fish to rice ratio is way off, too much rice. Overall, I enjoyed the place and awesome food. Well deserved 5 stars.
Their service is excellent and their food is amazing
.....Wow what a splendid evening spent at this elegant restaurant. Food is super delicious excellent choices. Atmosphere is romantic looking out on to the lights reflecting off the ocean and the boats moored here. Even the Big Wheel is visible from this venue.....Awesome!. ...Oh yes and the staff are all friendly, pleasant and very helpful .......
Great food, perfect service, would definitely visit again!
An elegant restaurant in a beautiful and distinctive place
Wonderful view of the Corniche and the yacht marina
Large and large multi-session including small, large and very large
Reuters is very helpful and friendly, and is quick to get requests
A large and varied menu of fresh and delicious seafood
A large variety of delicious sushi
A variety of juices and cold drinks
As well as hot drinks
Frankly, it was a very nice and wonderful experience
I enjoyed the place and the session overlooking the Corniche, and watching the different people on the Corniche
I enjoyed eating delicious sushi and the fresh juice
It was a beautiful experience and I will come back again
I advise everyone to try this restaurant
Sushi is good, but not quite worth the price even with the specials, cool atmosphere outside, inside has smelt strongly of cleaning products the last two times I have been there.
Great food, excellent service and a wonderful vibe.
Delicious food and sushi, but the service was a bit slow. Every time a member of our group ordered a cocktail, it took roughly 30 minutes to arrive. Excellent venue with wonderful ambiance.
Rats in the wine board and the waiters simply respond: "Yeah we have had problems."
Don't go there. Simply don't.
Amazing food and service. As a self proclaimed foodie from Melbourne, I really rate this place. Get the mussels and then order some more mussels!! YUM
They charge 5 star prices for manufacturing line food. Overpriced and extremely poor management.
Great for half price cocktails and half price sushi before 5 o'clock everyday. Awesome food and wonderful service.
Beautiful location but very average food and service.
Superb food, fantastic setting and atmosphere. The service however was disappointing and we waited long peroods of time for meal orders (after receiving drinks only 25 minutes after our arrival). Waiter had drink and food order wrong and then after waiting close to an hour for main course, waiter only advised that there are no more Yellow tail fish as per my order. Then requested steak, which was really good. Regards
Great sushi, dim sum and view sometimes service could improve
Pros:
Excellent food for the money.
Mostly 5 Star service*
Great menu
Cons:
Service consistency needs a bit of work.
The food was excellent and their sauces were extremely good.
Heaven to the taste buds. Love the variety and value for money. Great atmosphere!
Had one of my best meals here. Impeccable service and food. Must see in Cape Town!
I was there on 28 December and we got a table for 2 outside. The waitress was friendly when it came to the drinks but a little slow with taking our food order but friendly and accommodating. We had two starters as we were not very hungry. The line fish tartare which was salmon was ok and a normal starter portion. the Green Asparagus was a total joke. 4 (!!!) very thin asparagus with a sauce hollandaise, a few pieces of grapefruit and some grated hazelnuts for R 105!! What a total rip-off. When it came to settling the bill we again had to look for the waitress. Going forward we will try other restaurants. There are enough to choose from.
This is the last, only the name has the rest is scrap, staff very incompetent. hands off
Best Sushi in Town, by far! Awesome cocktails, lovely fine dining. Great views of the V&A Waterfront
Superb surrounding and great beautiful presented food
Wonderful sushi, great service and a relaxed atmosphere.
Toni is by far 1 of the best waiters I've ever had the pleasure to meet. His suggestions was helpful, his jokes were tasteful and his service outstanding! Amazing food, amazing prices with an amazing view.
Well done!
