If I were to choose my last meal on Earth, it would be here at Sevruga! Located on the V & A waterfront, it serves as an excellent place for lunch/brunch after experiencing a profound tour of Robbin's Island, where Mandela spent most of his prison term. The ambience is beautiful as are the clientele. The cuisine is flown in fresh daily and prepared with the utmost care. Staff members are attentive and well acquainted with the menu. The seafood and crustacean platter had an impressive combination of fish, shrimp, scallops, grilled calamari, oysters, and whole shell crab, each with its own distinctive flavor. Every portion was plentiful, delicious, and full of flavor with the exception of the calamari, which was rubbery in texture and needed to soak longer within a marinade and then lightly grilled. Butternut squash and a fresh garden salad accompanied my meal without competing in regards to flavor. The wine list was impressive and complimentary to my entree.
Prices are on the higher end of the spectrum, however, this is South Africa. There are a select few culinary experiences where one should unabashedly splurge and indulge .Sevruga is one of them!
