Definitely a really cool old steakhouse. Don t let a review be the deciding factor whether you will try a place or not. BUT... we waited from 5:30 to 7:00 to be seated. This place is simply not that great for that wait. We tried the filet and ribeye. The filet was excellent, but overpriced 10oz was $26. The ribeye was a good cut overall, but was lacking even the simplest of seasoning/taste and was regrettable...especially at the $26 price tag for 12oz.
Seeing the TV commercials I thought we had to give it a shot. It s old and really cool with the upstairs waiting area/bar, however, I think you'll leave wishing you had went to your favorite steakhouse.
I highly recommend Texas Roadhouse over this place. #1 reason Call ahead seating. When you show up, you'll be seated within 10 minutes (usually less I find) ... bypassing all the other people who have been waiting one hour or more. Every single location I have ever been has always had an hour wait during prime time eating hours. #2, the steaks are very reasonably priced and I believe compete with dang near any steakhouse out there. Their 16oz ribeye for $20.99 and 8oz filet at $19.99 is superior to Cattleman s in all regards. Additionally, the overall menu options make it much more attractive. Cattleman s wouldn t even swap the soup/salad for an extra side no restaurant operates this way these days! Sorry the review took a tangent off about Texas Roadhouse. But it's a favorite of so many people and I can guarantee when you try it, it will become the bar for measuring your steakhouse experience.

Never again, that was the worst chicken fried steak I've ever had. And I guess they still have the original a/c units from 1910, it was very uncomfortable . And to top it off you had to fight off the flies. I actually felt sorry for the waitress having to work in that sweatshop.

My sons and I had lunch here yesterday. Arrived a little after 1pm and was seated in about 5 minutes. The restaurant is crowded with tables too close and it has an air of being run down. It had an old, musty smell upstairs where we were directed to wait. The waitress was very inattentive and gave off an impression that she didn't want to be bothered. All 3 if us ordered the ribeye, not one was cooked right. My oldest son's med was dark red through 3/4 of the steak, that's med rare. Mine and my younger son's were supposed to be med rare but was red and raw looking through 3/4 with so much blood it was covering the plate, that's rare. My steak was 1/4 fat and gristle. Our salads were nothing but a bowl of lettuce with one tiny tomato per bowl. For almost $27.00 I expected way better. The fries my son got were room temp and tasted like they'd been cooked a long time before they were ordered. The mashed potatoes were actually perfect. I've been told for over 30 yrs that Cattleman's was the best steakhouse in Oklahoma but Texas Roadhouse has them beat by far and the price is better for better service. Not sure why people rave about this restaurant but I'll never return and will never again recommend it. Cattleman's you need to do a lot better if you're going to charge the prices you do. Total waste of an hour, 30 miles traveling time and $110.00. Not sure why I gave the waitress a $20.00 tip because she definitely didn't deserve it.

P.S. I can tell that Cattleman's doesn't give a fig about their poor service and low quality food by the fact that they don't address any of the comments. Sad!

An old friend I hadn't seen for 30+ years took me here while I was visiting OKC. It is a great place. The old school style and charm radiates! Takes you back in time for sure. There was a wait, but worth it! We got a cute diner table in the main area and our service was great. We had the Lamb Fries - delicious! - - Have a local fill you in about that! My friend had a strip and I had the ribeye. I was so excited about this steak and always ask for medium rare -- it came a bit overcooked and the waiter knew I was disappointed - he took it back and they cooked me a new one and it was perfect! The sides were all wonderful too. I recommend.

I absolutely love their food and we always have incredible service. It was a cold day and the air conditioning was working quite well where we were sitting. We mentioned it to our waiter and he picked up our drinks and moved us to a warmer location. We were so appreciative...he didn't have to do anything yet he wanted our experience to be a good one.

I tried Cattlemen s for the first time the other night, and was shocked at the long line. I assumed the food would be outstanding, but it was average. The salad was fresh and I loved the dressing. My filet was very under cooked and lacked flavor. The shrimp were over cooked and dry. I can t say I would eat there again. It was very over priced for the quality.

My wife and I ate there tonight. I had the Prime Rib Eye (with salad, baked potato and dinner rolls), she had the Petite Sirloin with same sides. Our bill was slightly north of $55. That justified one of the best bottles of wine I've ever had that ran $50.
A month ago, we ate at Peter Lugers in NYC. Seriously, Lugers is the top steak house in NYC and one of the best in the USA. I can promise anyone that the steak at Cattleman's Cafe is far superior to what I had at Peter Lugers. I will grant that the atmosphere was very different (in New York, you'll get white tablecloths).
I spent $105 for two great steaks and a great bottle of wine at Cattleman's Cafe in OKC. I spent $230 for two steaks, a beer and a glass of wine in NYC. I'll choose Cattleman's any day!

UPDATE: I cannot believe the number of people that are complaining about their under or over cooked steaks. Our waitress asked us to cut into our steak WHILE SHE STOOD AT THE TABLE to ensure they were cooked according to our preference. And don't even get me started on somebody who ordered their steak well done. They should have gone to McDonald's. In fact, most steakhouses have a clause on their menu that they are not responsible for steaks ordered well done! YUCK!

The black hostess was extremely rude. But our waiter Robert was amazing. If you come ask for him by name. The food was outstanding. Robert was the best server ee have had in ages. We would come back just for him but the steaks were so amazing. We will definitely be back.

Excellent steak soup, good steak and potato. Staff was happy to cook my steak 15 minutes longer I like mine gray all the way thru. Salad was plain butterball with thick house dressing

Note- meats quality above average

Noisy atmosphere. Crowded dining rooms. Flies flying around us all throughout our meal. Limited menu. Dinner salad is just a small portion of bagged salad and way too much dressing...served with crackers. Last but not least, we ordered the filet and blue ribbon steak... the filet mignon was overcooked and tasted like the bacon it was wrapped in; the blue ribbon steak was grisly. Not worth the drive! I truly do not know why this place has great reviews. Truly disappointed.

Nadia my server was the only good part of eating here. $32 for a "steak" full of tendons and undercooked, I didn't bother sending it back. The beef I was served was neither prime nor choice, I'd say this was a discount cut. Again, great server, horrible beef.

Wife's ribeye was average. Mine however was the worst I have ever eaten at a restaurant that is advertised as a steak house. I had to spit bites out. Should have sent it back. Must have been a select grade. Service was good.

After the usual wait time and seated, the waitress, who acted like she had someplace better to be, took our order. After another substantial wait our food showed up and it was incomplete. I had a $26 steak without the sauteed mushrooms I ordered. The steak, while not bad, I could have gotten anywhere for $13. No longer feel the need to waist so much time and $ on an average meal. Oh yeah, the baked potato was puny too.

Went for Sunday lunch, and it was both cheap and incredibly good! $20 for a salad, loaded baked potato, roll, and a delicious 16oz porterhouse. It was fabulous. Do try the Sunday lunch special!

Definitely a little pricey but ABSOLUTELY worth it!! Best Ribeye I've ever had & great service to go with it. My husband had the T-bone & loved it! Thanks to John, our server for a great experience!! We will definitely visit again!

First time at cattleman s I can say I will return next time I m in Okc, very nice staff had a great waitress carol. Don t be fooled by the look of the place. It s very good and perfectly cooked steak didn t have a long wait at all baked potatoe was good and also the Mac and cheese. I give them 5 out of 5 our steak was flavorful we had the ribeye for 2 and was plenty. Well done cattleman s we are picky eaters!

I would give this place 5 stars but after we sat down, a manager came over to say that there was a wait and we should have signed in, but the door we came in said Please seat yourself. When this was pointed out, he said yes, but that is only for the cafe counter, not the rest of the seating. He then "graciously" allowed us to stay and have our meal after talking down to us like a couple of children.
Other then that the food and service were great and we MIGHT eat here again

Ribeye and filet mignon were incredible! House dressing is delicious. Waitress was friendly and helpful. If you like old places that have earned their good name and reputation, this is the place to go!

Visiting OKC bc my daughter was receiving an award, so I thought an iconic restaurant would be the perfect place. Cattlemen s didn t disappoint! I let our waitress, Shannon, know we were in a time crunch and she did a wonderful job expediting our meal without it feeling rushed. Normally I prefer ribeye. This time, we ordered off the lunch menu and split the 10 oz sirloin. It was surprisingly good and very little fat. Cattleman s dressing on salad was great. My 10 y/o loved the Mac n cheese.

Cattlemen's Steakhouse never disappoints me! The T-bone steak was huge (took half home) and delicious! I'm not usually a steak lover but I'll be convert when I'm at Cattlemen's. The included salad and warm dinner rolls are a perfect compliment. Took the apple pie a la mode to go and my eyes were rolling around in my head cause it was so good! I had a bite of my family's dinner choices of catfish and chicken fried steak which were also excellent. It's pricey but worth it.

We were really hoping this restaurant would be great based on the reviews and for being on TV and having a President go there. However, the service was not good (we ran out of water in our cups and it was never refilled among other issues). For the price you pay, we were hoping for more than a salad that was bagged. Honestly, we've received much better service and just as good of food at Texas Roadhouse. I wish I could have left a better review.

Everything, and I mean everything, about this place was mediocre. Mediocre service, food, dinnerware, dining area, atmosphere. I won t ever be back because there are many places better than average and this place isn t one of them.

Cattlemen's is a staple of OKC. Presidents past and present come here to dine when they are visiting. The steaks aren't too expensive but they are definitely not cheap. The atmosphere is pretty laid back and not fancy like you would have at a prime steak house.

Excellent in every aspect. Kim our waitress was awesome, very attentive, kind, pleasant, food was perfection, our birthday celebration was incredible! Thank you Cattlemen's. The weather was terribly stormy, flash floods, lightening all evening, lights went off a few times but our evening was over the top perfect!!! Jeanne

The best no-frills steak I've ever had. The building still holds on to the old school Cafe vibe, with plenty of seating for large or small parties. The menu has a little something for everyone, from basic dinner steak to full USDA Blue Ribbon cuts. The price is perfect for the portions and the service is spot on. I will absolutely be returning here regularly.

Pleasant 'local' flavor ambience. Service warm and personal. Food delicious and appropriately priced. We're just passing thru, but I'd come back again and recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience in Oklahoma City, don'tis this!

Not overrated. A GREAT steak. You should get one! We went early, about 10:30 a.m. after landing from an east coast flight so it was lunchtime for us. Got right in and sat down and enjoyed us the presidential! Our waitress was one of the best we've ever had. Tremendous service in addition to the great eats.

Not sure where you can get a better steak dinner for a better price! This is our go to restaurant whether we are having dinner on our own or have family or friends in from out of town! Fantastic service and great food at a very fair price!!

I had always heard great things about this restaurant and the food was okay. The services on the other hand was absolutely deplorable. My 5 year old grandson is fighting leukemia and unfortunately due to his meds has a dry cough. When we were headed to the buffet Harrison coughed. Nowhere near the food I might add. We may it a point to keep him behinds us so that he wouldn't cough on the food. As we sat down your staff decided to make a huge scene about how the food had been contaminated and that they would have to close the buffet to replace the food. My 5 year old warrior was humiliated. After that our waitress avoided us like the plague. I understand your concerns about your customers health and I even understand that they may have thought the food was compromised but what i dont understand is how they thought embarrassing a child was necessary. My Grandson never wants to come back because of the mean people. We won't be back!!

I was very disappointed with this restaurant after hearing so many great things and such great reviews. We should have left immediately as they aren t practicing social distancing very well. They didn t have table seating spaced apart but I heard later that they were on the other side of the restaurant. One couple asked to move to that side of the restaurant. We should have too. I also watched a server eat a cracker where others were wrapping utensils in napkins then put her hands all over the freshly wrapped napkins in the bin. This side of the restaurant also did not look clean. The ribeye i got was cooked okay but not seasoned at all. My wife s filet was okay but not the best. With all that being said, I wouldn t recommend this restaurant at all. I feel it s way overpriced. The server was great but that s the only good thing I have to say.

Went here to celebrate. We ordered the rib eye steak and split it. It was perfect. Just the right size. Salad with house dressing.
Every thing was great.

Folks...this place is an OKC icon. The breakfast is not to be overlooked! Saturday Sunday buffet is probably the best deal in town. Dinners here feature the finest streaks in town. You should be a regular here for breakfast...seriously...

I ate here about 20 years ago. I was bragging to my wife how good it was. Sadly the food was horrible. Neither one of us finished our plates. I have traveled the world and one of my worst experiences ever. It would have been cheaper and better to go to McDonalds.

Very disappointed. I ordered my steak medium, my steak came out very overcooked so I sent it back and it was basically raw when the waiter brought it back. I could only eat the outer edges, the Mac and cheese had no seasoning, and my husbands steak was ALSO very overcooked but he was too hungry to wait and send it back since we had already waited 45 minutes on a Monday evening for our food. The only good thing was the waiter, and the strawberry margaritas.
