Ate at Equus for restaurant week. Food was delicious and staff was very polite and courteous, however, they seemed somewhat disorganized as it took a while to be seated, get menus after we were seated, and get our drinks after we ordered them. Understandable though as it was pretty busy, and our waiter decided to comp our drinks without us asking because of the extra wait.

Very nice scenery, beautiful grounds, good amenities, friendly staff, decent spread of food/drinks. Personally I prefer massages from women only and I believe this spa does not offer sports massages by women so I was unable to get they style massage I like.

This place is spectacular in every way. From the prestige grounds to the antique furniture throughout. To get 5 stars, you should polish up some of the rooms. Fixtures and trim show are and use. Light fabrics and carpets are prone to show the stuck on gum, grime. Front staff should not emphasize a breakfast window if it s not included. Expensive drinks at the bar but great bartender!

We had a company dinner at Equas. The castle is so beautiful inside which made the dining experience even more amazing. I ordered the filet mignon and it was prepared perfectly. Service was attentive without being overbearing.

Very quaint, romantic and scenic. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast in the morning was very disappointing. It was $25/ person and very low quality. Service was horrendous! At first we thought the cost of breakfast was included so we figured that's why it was bad. But we were shocked when the bill was $100 for the 3 of us. I had to ask for coffee 3 times, as well as napkins, salt and pepper, cream cheese for my daughters bagel, and we waited about 10 minutes for the waiter to bring them. Anytime we asked for something, we felt like we were inconveniencing thr staff and we had to ask more than once.
Probably wouldn't go back.

Outrageously overpriced,Food very disappointing,Not recommended,Staff not interested.
We went to a wedding there and while the presentation was good the food portions would not fill a rabbits appetite.
The apparent open bar had only 3 bottled beers which they ran out of and the groom had to intervene and beg the staff for more refreshments.
We would advise to eat shortly before you arrive and either had food in your apt or stop by a local diner as this was an embarrassment to any establishment
While this hotel will charge you 5 star prices the total experience is less than a 1 star.
Please please spend your hard earned money elsewhere or you will regret it.

Beautiful hotel and spa with exceptional service. Great spa facility with wonderful staff. The spa was really clean and the staff made us feel welcomed and well taken care off. The hotel design really brings the entire experience together.

Our room was beautiful, but we entered the bathroom and the toilet was backed up. We called the front desk for maintenance, 1/2 hour later called again. To our horror when we answered the door my husband was handed a plunger and instructed to leave it in the hallway when we were finished. We were totally in shock and did not even know how to respond. We went on line and started to read some of the reviews and we are not the first couple this has happened too. Apparently this is the standard operating procedures for them.
Very disappointed and would never consider recommending this hotel.

Awesome little place. It has a great ambiance to it all. The driveway is cool for dropping off guests but the angle of the driveway is actually extremely steep and is something you want to keep in mind. The venue to eat was very cool and had super high ceilings. We didn t have any music during our party but I think it s an option if you ask for it.

My husband wanted to surprise me with a gift certificate here. Because they made a mistake in processing his credit card, they called our home number (which he did not give, by the way) instead of his cel #, and got me on the phone, thus ruining the surprise. After he called to cancel the gift certificate purchase they said they already put it through and it would take a while to remove the charge (ridiculous). This was on December 18. It is now Dec 31 and he is on the phone with them again, still trying to have the charge removed.
They have offered no apology, and nothing to make this better.

Very disappointed!!! I went to the spa with my husband and best friend thinking we could all relax and then have brunch together. I was very surprised to find out that the spa does not offer prenatal massages, so I requested a facial instead. I was shocked to hear they don t offer pregnant women facials either and in fact if you are expecting they don t offer you anything! I m sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous when I am very healthy and in my third trimester. I have been going for monthly massages at other 5 star properties in the area and have been treated wonderfully. I was offered water and a snack while I sat in the relaxing area waiting for my husband and best friend to finish their service. When it was time for them to check out I was also charged $35.00 to sit and wait for them!!! I found this to be completely insulting to charge me to sit on a couch after you refused to offer me any services. I think it s time to review your policy and provide all guests with at least one service and if you can t then they should not be charge a fee while they are waiting. I am completely turned off with the Castle Spa!

My husband and I hosted his 80th birthday bash at the Castle, and the experience was incredible. We worked with Kristen Carroll and Manny Cohen who pulled off a wonderful dinner for 80 with grace and efficiency. They accommodated our somewhat picky eating bunch magnificently. Kristen bent over backwards to get our electronic needs net, and all in all it was a terrific evening. The Great Hall is a splendid entertainment space. All in all, a happy ( and very well run) time was had by all.

Delicious food and great ambiance. Historic building. You feel like you're dining in a museum. Nice view. The service was a bit slow though. The kitchens vent was broken when we are, though the chef came out to dining room to personally apologize.

Disappointing. For what was supposed to be a 5 star hotel and spa, this place felt like a Holiday Inn in terms of service. We consistently felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. Had better service at the CVS pharmacy in town.

Will not be back and will not be recommending to anyone.

I was in town for a very quick trip on very short notice and I ended up staying here on accident because I didn t plan ahead very well. In the end I was very happy I made such an amazing mistake. This is one of the most unique and memorable places I have ever stayed. It s beautiful elegant and offers exceptional service. I will never forget my night in the castle.

Won't be back there ever again. The place is infested with tiny flying bugs. For the enormous prices they charge, there is NO excuse for this. We kept swatting them away from our food. Yuck!

Stayed here with my husband to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Beautiful hotel and grounds. Staff was very personable. They left a happy anniversary note for us in our room and at the restaurant they gave us a little dessert plate which was very thoughtful. We loved the room - very spacious, clean, and cozy. The shower had great water pressure which seems like a silly thing to mention but something I find lacking in most hotels. The food was delicious but did seem overpriced. The service (to actually recieve our dinner) in the restaurant was very slow but that didn't bother us since we were not in a hurry. Our waiter was very attentive though and checked in with us often. The town of Tarrytown was wonderful. Lots to see and do (Lyndhurst Mansion, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, local shops) and the dining options (Eatarry!!) were amazing. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the Castle but due to the high cost it will only be a place we visit for very special occasions.

The Castle is always a fairy-tale up on the hilltop of Tarrytown. I spent so many happy occasions at the castle. I always feel like a Princess amongst the beautiful white and gold decor. The marble and tall windows feel so magical.
The food is top notch. I love the way they serve the juicy steak. This steak is over $50 so be ready to shell out the dollar bills for a terrific meal.

You never know what will be for desert, the chef is always mixing up something funky.
it could be an assortment of sorbet or a totally delightful chocolate caramel souffle. Don't worry it will be totally pleasant on your taste buds.

For $300 per night, this hotel is a disappointment.

Really, this is a 3-star hotel AT BEST wearing a 4-star outfit with the exterior being a castle on a hill.

In early March 2018, we stayed here two nights. We moved here from the Marriott Courtyard in Tarrytown, which was far worse. So, this might very well be the best that Tarrytown has to offer. :( I m giving this a 2-star review because the average rating is way too high.

PROS: Nice staff, clean facilities, decent bed, spacious room. Dresser with LOTS of drawers so you can really unpack, plus that extra mirror and counter space let me put on my makeup outside of the bathroom so my husband could use the bathroom area for his own getting ready.

CONS: The bathroom is super basic. No garden tub, and cheap white tile. OLD carpet, with stains but no bad smell. Tiny TV for the size of the room (maybe 30 ). Wish the hotel had provided binoculars to watch it. Really that size of a room needs a 50 tv minimum. Not enough plugs. I had to hunt around the room for a plug for my technology items and the plugs were not placed well in the room. Lots of lights when you slept - like really bright alarm clock and many lights just on the ceiling and stuff. Hard to get a really good darkness in the room. Small windows so we could not enjoy the view, which is a shame since you are on a beautiful hilltop.

VALET PARKING ONLY: This could be a pro or a con, depending on who you are. Every time we had to go somewhere, it s like we have to bother this guy and do we have to tip every time? I m not sure. Then just the fact that you have to wait just to get your car. IDK.

SO-SO ROOM SERVICE: We ordered room service 3 times. 2 dinners and a breakfast. First time, it was off the standard room service menu for dinner. The items were ok, and the French fries arrived cold and soft. The next morning, for breakfast, we ordered a salmon egg Benedict. It was fully terrible, and we didn t even eat it because the fish smelled bad and the white parts of the egg were not fully cooked, so it was like mucus. The last meal we ordered was dinner, and instead of ordering off the room service menu, we ordered from the restaurant menu and had that sent. THAT was the way to do it - we got roasted duck, venison, and brussel sprouts that were to die for. I m pretty sure that last meal was over $100 but frankly it was really stellar and worth that money. Those items also traveled well to the room (ie. The brussel sprouts maintained their crispness.)

I probably would not stay here again.

The castle itself was very very breathtakingly beautiful in fall with all changing leaves. However, I give 4 stars because the guestroom suit we stayed with our two years old was super old. Carpet needs to be replaced. Basically they need the guestroom renovation.

Stayed here with my girlfriend for the night. The castle part was cool and the spa was great, but it ended up a pretty bad stay.

1. To start, the bell hops never offered to help with our bags. They stood next to us, TALKING TO US, while we held our own bags.

2. We waited by the pool bar for over an hour for a bartender and kept being told that one was on the way. We ended up just going back to our room.

3. The kitchen vent broke down and our dinner reservation was cancelled. Maybe unavoidable, but we specifically chose this hotel to relax for the night, and the only alternatives the front desk offered were expensive local restaurants that didn t even have open reservations. We ended up ordering pizza.

4. The next morning, we called the front desk, asked about breakfast and were told it was being served. When we arrived, it had been closed for nearly half an hour.

5. Overheard other guests complaining about similar issues.

Ultimately, the hotel lacks service quality and is not somewhere I would recommend anyone to stay.

We found The Castle at Tarrytown in an effort to have our "micro" wedding celebration, during the "Season of COVID 2020".

Meeting and arranging our stay with Ken Utsumi was a blessing! His graciousness and patience were most appreciated. And, he made certain we were granted the very most comfortable service, and covered all details for our special day. A preeminent host!

The location, rooms, services, and staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. What a pleasure to have a classic, and elegant venue for such an event, or a weekend away! We will most certainly revisit The Castle!

We are anxious to schedule our next visit!

Our most sincere thanks to Ken and the Staff of The Castle

The hotel posted a charge to my credit for a spa service that I did not receive. I contacted them and provided them details but they have not contacted me back or made the effort to contact the person who did receive the service to resolve this issue.

Beautiful location with attentive staff. The interior is warm and cozy and the exterior is impressive- well maintained and the back has a beautiful view of the Hudson. The food was excellent and the staff was on top of their game.

The Castle on the Hudson makes you feel like royalty...for a couple hours at least. I took my mother out for her birthday at this snazzy establishment and neither of us were disappointed. First off, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, they valet your car (none are parked because you can only valet) and the lobby has an extremely elegant and historic feel. Everything is polished and beautiful, there are numerous rooms with amazing and intricate details and a "royal" flair. The weather was nice enough where we could sit outside, the inside is perfectly acceptable as well (with a view of the Hudson river, I may add) , but we came at a time where the crowds weren't that big so we sat outside, with a view overlooking the gardens, and we had our own private deck (almost).

Though gourmet food is not really my thing, I had delicious soup and the dessert, which was extra delectable. The bread is also wonderful, yes, I really didn't eat a full meal here, mainly because of my disdain for cuisine that is too fancy or has too long of a name, (I like to keep it simple), but all of the beautiful surroundings and the atmosphere, makes this a place I could wander and explore for hours. Is the Castle expensive? Yes, of course, you can't exactly go to a castle for a cheap price, but was it overboard, I didn't think so, for its exclusivity and elegance, I thought the castle was reasonably priced.....(for lunch).

You don't have to be married or engaged, to enjoy this slice of gothic heaven, 20 minutes away from NYC.

It was horrible experience that I had charged $350 for little spot on the carpet. I slept here for $200 and charged $350 for incident. You must be careful that they will call professional cleaning team even you spill very small things on the carpet.

My wife and her girlfriend had a spy day and stayed the night. The hotel charged both her card and her girlfriend's cards. She called the hotel to complain and was told that they would look into it and call her back. No one ever called her back and the charges remained on both cards. We will now have to dispute it with the credit card company.
