Bonnie Ellman Review of Castle Hotel & Spa
The Castle on the Hudson makes you feel like royal...
The Castle on the Hudson makes you feel like royalty...for a couple hours at least. I took my mother out for her birthday at this snazzy establishment and neither of us were disappointed. First off, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, they valet your car (none are parked because you can only valet) and the lobby has an extremely elegant and historic feel. Everything is polished and beautiful, there are numerous rooms with amazing and intricate details and a "royal" flair. The weather was nice enough where we could sit outside, the inside is perfectly acceptable as well (with a view of the Hudson river, I may add) , but we came at a time where the crowds weren't that big so we sat outside, with a view overlooking the gardens, and we had our own private deck (almost).
Though gourmet food is not really my thing, I had delicious soup and the dessert, which was extra delectable. The bread is also wonderful, yes, I really didn't eat a full meal here, mainly because of my disdain for cuisine that is too fancy or has too long of a name, (I like to keep it simple), but all of the beautiful surroundings and the atmosphere, makes this a place I could wander and explore for hours. Is the Castle expensive? Yes, of course, you can't exactly go to a castle for a cheap price, but was it overboard, I didn't think so, for its exclusivity and elegance, I thought the castle was reasonably priced.....(for lunch).
You don't have to be married or engaged, to enjoy this slice of gothic heaven, 20 minutes away from NYC.
