The staff is way better than the hotel, which is a slightly below average to average hotel that thinks it's a 5 star hotel. It can't really be helped though, it's in a location that has absolutely nothing around it. The staff is great though, if I run a hotel near Movenpick, I'd definitely try to poach the staff.

Was there many years ago (about 1991) there overnight, as far as everything o.k. All clean but unfortunately a bit away from the center. But still went. Should I go to Tangier again, then I'll probably go back here.

- Very friendly and helpful staff and spacious and beautifully decorated luxury room.
Points to improve:
-the minibar of the room is empty - no coffee set (an electric kettle was provided upon request)
- advertised luxury room with terrace: it is quite cramped and without furniture: this should be clearly expressed in the presentation of the room on the website
- sink in the room was clogged when we arrived
-no deposit was asked on arrival. As a result, we were refused to sign on the room at the restaurant and moreover no connection to the restaurant for the credit card reader: we had to go to the reception to pay the bill ...

Expensive for nothing

Expensive for nothing
The menu offers quite expensive cocktails, not local products.
Lots of alcohol based drink.
Disappointed.

Avis sur Movenpick Hotel & Casino Malabata Tanger

The Mouwenpick Hotel in Tangier is located in the prestigious coastal area of Malabata, next to the casino. Right by the bay. Opposite, 12 km across the Strait of Gibraltar - Spain ... The coast is perfectly visible in clear weather. Along the promenade, you can walk the entire bay right up to the medina in an hour. The hotel has its own beach, pools, restaurants - everything is like a decent 5 * hotel. I recommend!

Good building let down significantly by:

Poor air conditioning the whole building felt a bit damp and our room never cooled below 25c (in late Oct).

Staff were largely indifferent. Very busy having discussions with each other front of house while ignoring and even obstructing guests. It felt like a case of too many people wanting to be manager and nobody wanting to do the hospitality thing.

Food was middling. Only one totally overworked person trying to manage the whole breakfast area. She really did as much as one could possibly expect of a lone person, while other members of staff were milling around in the background playing at manager (see above). The result was tables not being cleared as people left leaving later arrivals for breakfast to clear and set tables themselves from unused isolated place settings. Omelet undercooked with lots of uncooked egg white. Flies on the food. Nowhere for non smokers to eat which was free of smoke.

Charging for Internet access. The only place we stayed in Morocco which did this.

No locks on the balcony doors.

With the right (small!) senior management team and fixed a/c this place could be really great.

Untested hotel and casino, but exceptional traditional Moroccan restaurant. It is possible to eat Royal couscous on weekdays and not just on Friday as tradition dictates.
Restaurant recommended for gourmet friends

My suggestion if you are in tangier. Please try to avoid this 1 star hotel. My suggestion to hotel management is to go work in marriott so you know what is 5 star service and hotel operation looks like.

Go your way! We talk about the price of the pool entrance? 350dh ie 35th an entrance for a classic pool? A joke ? At this price I hope that the water will purify me! It is outrageous a price for a mediocre service!

Hello Mr Rillof

Hello Mr Rillof

Catastrophic stay !!!
Very unhappy ...!
Here is a non-exhaustive list of my various problems and anomalies encountered in your hotel during my stay 1 week ago, I specify:

- Person at the Barrier for the car at the hotel entrance
- Deplorable welcome on arrival + absent valet (long trip made: Agadir)
- porters non-existent and not available, spend the time chatting and watching us carry our luggage.
- Arrival cocktail ??
- Room: on arrival towels + missing slippers + empty fridge no drinks ??
- Deplorable swimming pool welcome (no hello, the swimming pool is 400Dh! Do not ask if hotel guests or not ??
- Nonchalant, unfriendly, rude and incompetent staff
- Drinks list not up to date Price display / Billing ??!
- Queries and Requests:
iron + tea order at reception 1 hour later nothing!
- Billing and bar service and catering at the customer's head!

For a honeymoon: Having separate beds: I find that very average./
My expectations were disappointing and that of my wife again + :-( ///
Despite my various reminders and requests made to the reception, and to the staff concerned no return!
For a "5 star" hotel this is unacceptable!
Only promises but nothing happens.

other problems when I arrived: at the reception: despite the large smile, there is a lack of proven responsiveness. We were made to wait all morning before getting a room at 12pm / what I can understand but an IC! (no coffee, no drink or glass of water was offered in the meantime ... we had to pay for an espresso at 200DH, it didn't ruin us of course, but sad that there was no gestures of welcome ... I find that very average for a high standard hotel such as the Movempick, (I have nevertheless had good experiences with this hotel chain: especially in Dubai ... but unfortunately we are very far from it in Morocco!

Thank you anyway to the deputy manager of the hotel Mr Mohamed for listening to me following my dissatisfaction and for proposing an upgrade, My requests were taken into account much too late
Living in Switzerland in Zurich I have informed your head office through my professional network.

Hoping that this opinion, Mr RILLOF, is constructive and will help improve the quality of service and performance for the MOVENPICK DE TANGIER

Best regards
Mr El KADIRI

For reservation, it never work as it should be. I booked through website, the city tax had huge difference between the website and what the hotel wanted. And unfortunately the hotel didn't want to cooperate so they made me pay the extra charges to check-in. Didn't like how responsible the hotel is, and how much they care about their customers
