EXCELLENT. Tasting food.

EXCELLENT. Tasting food.

You order at the counter and pay.

But they charge table service prices. A bit expensive.

When food was ready wife noticed they gave plantains instead of fries, as ordered.. both myself and another heard her ask for fries.. The clerk had a mild attitude about it and acted as if she was doing us a favor getting what we ordered. She took back the plantains that had already been on our table... Wonder if they served then to someone else?

Nice atmosphere. Our visitor was from Puerto Rico and grew up in similar food. She really enjoyed the food.

3 people. 75$ with two entrees, one side, two mojitos one soda.

Noteworthy, no diet options on soda.. all craft soda loaded with sugar. They need options for people not wanting sugar.

Amazing Cuban restaurant. This is my first time and ordered the Cubano sandwich with sweet plantains. Tasted as good as Gloria Estefan's restaurant in Orlando. This will now be my new favorite place for lunch.

There are not many Cuban Restaurants in San Diego. Havanna Grill is a gem. Excellent food, refreshing presentation, reasonable prices. Love the decor and the uniforms...the Cubana shirts, the Cuban hats the servers. Very cool. Reminiscent of well what can I say? Havanna , Cuba. I chose the Picadillo with the rice , black beans and salad. You won't be disappointed! 5 stars in my book!

Got the vaca frita (steak) and asked to sub the rice and beans for veggies. Was expecting a basic veggie side and got an amazing mix of grilled veggies that was so delicious! The steak was mouthwatering and juicy with great spices and marinade. Will definitely be back!

Okay place, but it doesn't compare to the Cuban food back home in Miami. Chicken was chewy and for the side dish they only gave one of the tostones (fried green plantains) broken in half and topped on top of each other to make it look like it was a lot. Normally in Cuban restaurants you receive about 3 of those. The atmosphere was nice, but I definitely won't be going back.

Tastes like Cuba. I've now had about half of plates on the menu and everything I've had has been absolutely delicious! While the croquetas could be less expensive since you only get three, they're super yummy.

i just don't know where to start, cold food and i asked the server to change it and the owner or manager rushed over and stooped the server from changing our order, anyways, just very disappointed , and if you want real Cuban food this is not the right place to go, its like going to taco bell for real Mexican food......

When I found out there was a Cuban place near me I couldn t wait to try it. I so wanted my experience to be great but sadly found it lacking.

We went in today and ordered a sandwich, fries, empanada and a pastry. Not a lot of food at all and the place wasn t packed. As we sat there for 40 mins waiting for our items, we patiently watch as half our order sat at the pass for at least 20 mins. Finally after the 40 min mark we went to ask what was the problem. Come to find out they burned the sandwich and had to remake it. Needless to say our food came out and half of it was cold. After that when we asked for our pastry, they forgot and had to be reminded again and then they burnt it.

Overall the food is good and has good flavor but the service and attention to detail leave much to be desired. There are other Latin places in San Diego that I can and will go to instead of wasting an hour for a sandwich.

Excellent place if you go with family and / or friends to enjoy this delicious Cuban food. We ate suckling pig, old clothes, and my favorite fricase of chicken and citrus chicken. Extremely delicious and 100% recommended. The employees very friendly. The owner of the restaurant even talked to us. That was very important for us that we like cooking and food. Try the Cuban coffee. Also the flan of coconut and tostones. Everything we ate was delicious and well seasoned. The portions are large.

Good atmosphere, good congris, the pessimistic fried cow, far from the original Cuban fried cow, and the service personally felt offended by the person who attended to me (Silvia Castillo) I'm sorry I don't speak Spanish, and you don't speak English He told me in a somewhat derogatory tone, and if I speak English, I just went there because I wanted to feel that Caribbean and cordial atmosphere that characterizes us and I didn't find it.

Worst service ever. My party ordered a total of 4 drinks and a single slice of cake. The cake was so dry. They never brought the cake out. I had to go ask for it. Then they served it with no utensils nor napkins. We did not receive all our drinks. I had to go to the counter 4 different times to ask for our drinks. Their soda machine only had 5 out of 10 flavors working. Never would I recommend this place to anyone.

I don't review, let alone give 5 stars.

This is FIVE STARS.

Great food, very warm and attentive staff, nice atmosphere.

Some may not love that it's dinner pricing all day with no lunch specials. I still say come and try Picadillo and Vaca Frita. Also try everything else.

Highly recommend and will be back many times. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did.

Today was an off day I think. But still I'll approve of the place. The cubano was really good. The prices are a touch higher than I expected, but not unreasonable. The service was mostly great. The only issue was it seemed they were understaffed as they struggled to get the tables bussed. Order taking and food delivery were perfect.
Overall I recommend this place. And plan to go back to try other things.

Wonderful flavors and friendly staff make this an instant classic. Staff friendly and helpful, dinner plates in the $13-15 range includes meat, vegetables and starch. Unlimited drinks and desserts (flan) very nice. We had the Lechon (pork) was enjoyable. Lots of tables, cafeteria style where you order and pay first and they bring to your table. Gotta go back, good luck and enjoy!

Havana Grill was a pleasant surprise/accident to stumble upon. Not only is this is one of the only Cuban places in San Diego, it is one of the best. If you are looking to dine here, skip the sandwiches, and grab the skirt steak with a side of plantains!

Happy to find a place that has the option of free range meats. They offer a vegetarian plate but for just $1 more I wanted to try the roast chicken. It is half a chicken so plenty for lunch the next day. Given it seems to be made fresh allow time to get served.

Ever since I moved to San Diego from LA, one of the things I've missed the most was Cuban food from Versailles restaurant. Today I stumbled on Havana Grill, where they serve lechon, beans, and plantains that are about 95% as good, in my own backyard. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Delicious

Most of the food was very good, steak very tender, yucca fries were amazing. Prices are ridiculous though for a place where you order at the counter and the small portion sizes. Tostones were undercooked, almost like they didn't fry them a second time after smashing them like you should. Restaurant is very well decorated, staff was friendly and helpful, just really feel like prices are way too high for a counter service restaurant where you have to fill your own drink...

Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in San Diego. The food is prepared and presented as if you are in a 4 star restaurant. The desserts are a hidden gem. The food is prepared with such love and passion that you taste it with each bite. The Hemmingway, and Lechon are must haves along with the Dulce de Leche dessert and a cafe Cubano afterwards.

The atmosphere is very cozy and the decor tastefully done for a somewhat casual restaurant atmosphere. The bathrooms were spotless and hygienically clean.

This is a must try restaurant in the West Coast and I live in San Diego and have eaten all around North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean .

I LOVE Havana Grill.

I LOVE Havana Grill.
The food is so fresh and healthy.
I am a vegetarian, and there are plenty of veggie friendly options to explore...which I am still doing!
Alex and company are incredibly hospitable and make the dining experience extra special.
No need to travel to Cuba, just come here for the delicious family recipes!
