Casa Havana Cuban Grill Review

Good food but not great. They give you large portions, except the plantains, for a large price. The pork was tender but very salty and the lemon chicken was good. The black beans are like refried mexican style. They only have one large beef empanada and it's not that good, no flavor. Ive definitly had better Cuban food.

Havana Grill love the grill plate with different varieties of chicken, beef and lamb.

Best authentic Cuban food in San Diego and probably Southern California. Great for dinner parties, corporate gatherings

They have a GREAT Cuban sandwich and coconut pastry. I accidently mixede the tea with a shot of coconut but it was even good.

The food is absolutely DELISH!!! I had the OxTails. They were amazing! The cubano rice and appetizers all taste very delicious.

For San Diego.... this is great....yes a little break from Asian and maxican food...now
If you are from the EastCoast......they are just average. Other than that, place is awesome

The service is great, the servers not just acknoledge you as soon as you enter the rest but remember you too. Food is a little bit expensive however the quality n flavor is exceptional. Its worth the price!!!

We eat a lot of Cuban food, and we likely won't come back here.. Cuban sandwich was just dry. Not even worth finishing it.
The vaca frita was very tough, but still flavored well. We must have gone on an off day, bc the reviews are what brought us.My Cuban fam didn't love it by any means.

WOW!!!! Im very very happy with this place, if your looking for authentic Cuban food this is the place. I had the Rabo Encendido with tostones and a papa rellena. The rabo was delicious and the papa rellena was in my opinion one of the best I've ever had....almost perfect. They have hands down the best Cuban food in SD and probably better than the ones in LA. Do yourself a favor go here!!!

The owner, if he was him, was super nice and helpful: He brought a drink for my mom who had stomach ache band it actually helped my mom to digest, we asked for cuban food and we totally trusted him!
The food was amazing!! Super great black beans, and steak, i think one of the best i've tried in USA.
Plus the portions were huge and worth the money we spent

The experience was not that pleasant. There are no waiters, you have to stand in line to place your order, just as if it was a fast food joint.
It took about 15 minutes to be able to place our order, which they later took to our table on a haphazard way.
They offer craft softdrinks that unfortunately were ruined by the poor quality of the water. I tried the following flavors: cucumber, lemongrass, cherry cream, blood orange and root beer. Only root beer was a le to mask that awful chlorine taste.
I had the Ropa Vieja. It is good.

Very good entree selections; a little bit pricey for lunch; lots of drinks selections; friendly wait staff.

Great food. Great find. Need to go back and try more of the amazing variety of great food.

I enjoy going to Havana Grill! Price $$ however, food is delicious here! Friday and Saturday they make Paella starting at 5pm.

OMG Cuban food in SD??? Yes it's true legit cubano cuisine here. It's a tie between the ropa Vieja and the fricassee de pollo. Both are fabulous! If you love Cuban food, go! You won't be disappointed. Ps I lived in Miami and Tampa for years. This is the real thing.

Was my first time trying Cuban food, very interesting menu with a lot of appetizing options. Service was good, fairly quick and price was about what you would expect. Atmosphere was pleasant and the place was Tastefully decorated. Perfect to stop by for a quick lunch with big flavor.

They catered an event for my company and it was amazing.. Many employees came to me and asked where did you get that food from.. As much as i wanted to pull a Mrs Doubtfire and say I cooked it.. (Google it if you born in 90s ) I did the boy scout thing and told the truth I said its from a bomb a$$ place named Havana grill check it. And then dropped the mic..

Great food! I got the El cubano with plantain chips and it was delicious. The meat was moist, tender and flavorful. Having the mustard and pickle gave it some zing. The plantain chips were a nice balance with the marinated meat. I will definitely come back again.

Expensive for a sandwich and fountain drink! $17.51 for lunch.it s ok.nothing special,, wait took forever and I was only person waiting for my food.

Loved the food! One of the employees greeted us and was very friendly. He gave us a detailed explanation about every one of the dishes and how each of them attract different types of eaters in under 2 minutes. Because of his recommendations, we had the best Cuban meal we've ever had!! Everyone else was so attentive to our needs and questions, we felt right at home. This is a MUST TRY place.

This food was incredible! The rub on the chicken was so good. Friendly staff and the restaurant was clean and inviting. Love, love!

What can I not say about this wonderful establishment! Not only is the food fantastic but the customer service is out of sight the staff make you feel welcomed and at home! My buddy Diego always hooks it up! I love all the staff as family!

I have lived in Miami and have had the good fortune to experience wonderful Cuban food
The beef I had was like shoe leather . The flan was so dry I couldn't eat it. Not returning.

I have a new favorite restaurant in SD! I was very impressed with the customer service, kindness and big smiles you are greeted with when ordering. Menu is organic, delicious food and they even have sugar cane soda that was too good to even explain with several different flavors.
Atmosphere was great with music playing at the perfect volume, no need to yell at the person next to you to be heard over the music like in some places. Restaurant is very clean with a great flow of dining tables. Prices are reasonable, considering it's all organicand fresh. You won't be disappointed.

Good place to have lunch. Clean and friendly. Bathroom are nice. I order Ropa Vieja and Cafe Cubano. It was good.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. The lork was tasty, maybe a tad dry in a few bites but overall very good. The prwmixed rice and beans (forget name for it) is so tasty. The salad cubano (name?) Was very fresh and was huge for a half! Cant wait to go back and try some other items.

Excellent service and very good Cuban food. Ordered Lechon which was very tasty roasted pork cooked to perfection. The portion is generous. Loved the plantains and black beans side dishes also. We also ordered the Cuban American sandwich which was ok, but didn't make us say Wow like the Lechon.

Extremely friendly and customer focused staff. Restaurant is very clean, comfortable with comforting decor. Everything on the menu looks appetizing. I have tried the Cubano sandwich and plantain chips, roasted garlic chicken and empanana. Sll were most excellent.

Great Cuban food. Very similar to Puerto Rican dishes. I recommend the Rabo Encedido, pollo fricase, and lechon. If you're going for lunch, go early as parking is really tough around noon.

We have our gift exchange here every year since 2017- the waiters are so kind and polite..The food is wonderful and I love The sangria wine... I always order the Chicken dish...

Good food flavorful but my date and I agreed (we are both chefs) the flavors and spice were good, but heavy handed. The frizaee and carrot salad came undressed so I added the red wine vinegar and evoo to it. Not bad not great. Good tho. We had a coupon buy one get one free and with the sodas is was like $25. I dont know if I'll go back.

This restaurant has an awesome atmosphere. Small and cozy. This is my first time here and I ordered the Hemingway plate. All of the flavors made my mouth go wild. I'm extremely happy this restaurant appeared in my neighborhood. It is now at the top of my rotation. I can't wait to try every thing on the menu

Pretty good spot. I'd recommend you try one of their non alcoholic malted DRI is if you've never had it before. It's a really unique flavor.

The food was great but we had to wait an extremely long time for our food with no customer service. Also my wife and I got sick from the food and got ecoli from the place.

The food is fantastic. I cant be in San Diego and not get a classic Cuban sandwich...even to take 90 minutes home with me. Side dishes are a bit pricey for what you get but slways delicious.

Came for Sunday lunch. Not busy. They only have two people working front of house, taking orders, serving food, cleaning tables etc. Staffs are friendly, but not very efficient. The ambience is relaxing, a good place to chill and chat. The food quality was good. Not overly flavorful, but cooked just right. The Expresso made this place shine!

Would be 5. I got the cubano and it is delicious as always. Upgraded to get the plantains instead of chips and was upset to see only 3 soggy plantains. Was a personal favorite spot of mine, probably won't be back.
