Capricorn Caves at The Caves township is a fantastic tour that takes you inside an above ground cave even though it doesn t feel like it. There is a bat colony that lives within some of the caves and they are protected but you can hear them and are lucky enough to to catch a glimpse from Rome to time. The Cathedral is beautiful and the acoustics are something special.

We had a really great time at Capricorn Caves on the Cathedral tour! Our guide, Phil, was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The caves are in amazing condition and are obvously being well cared for by current management. Great job! I would recommend the tours wholehartedly - it was one of the highlights of our holiday!

My sons (4 & 7yo) really took a particular liking to Phil's accounts of the areas ancient fauna, specifically Thylacoleo! I have included some images of some t-shirts I made for them - I thought Phil might get a kick out of what he started!

The standard cathedral walk tour is rather dull and I can't recommend it to anyone who isn't retired or into rocks. I can't imagine children would be able to keep focused because of the slow pace and tameness of the caves themselves. I would say that maybe the adventure tour would be worth it to anyone looking for a fun activity, but unfortunately I couldn't call the cathedral walk tour fun or even particularly interesting.

Excellent location, great attraction and very very spacious cabins.

My husband, son (1 year old) and I stayed a night here and wished we stayed longer.

The cabins were excellent and could not have asked for more.

The attraction of the caves itself was well worth the drive. If your traveling near Rocky, I would recommend the caves as the place to stay.

I came here as a teacher with a school group. We as a school thoroughly enjoyed our time here except for all the rain. We'd like to thank all who were involved as the students really enjoyed their time here. Also like to mention the chef's, as it was agreed upon between us teachers that this was the best school camp food we have ever had. I'm sure we will be back in the future!

Great limestone caves experiences.
Capricorn Caves take tourists through some of the caves in Limestone Ridge (but none of the caves in Mount Etna).
They have tours to suit all age groups.

Our guide Emily was fun and informative. Took us through the cave on a guided tour with wood walkways and lights telling us the history and the discovery of the Caves. Was sceptical about an hour long tour but once started the cave was very interesting and made it through without noticing the time. A musical cathedral with lights in the middle and thousands of bats are in the middle of the cave systems. Just majestic! Thanks Emily. Would come again

Went on the cathedral tour. A fantastic adventure through a dry Cave network. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We'll work the money. Note to those with little infants or taller/larger individuals you are given an option to exit through the zigzag passages at the end of the tour. These are very very tight and with our 8month old only barely managed to get through. Would reccomend the easy option instead.

Basic camping, cabins, powered & unpowered sites available at reasonable prices with camp kitchens available, flush toilets, laundry & hot showers.
The Caves are the only privately owned caves in Australia & has been in the same family for generations, well worth the tour.

The cathedral was amazing especially with the lighting and music effects. We were hoping to do the Explorer tour but missed out. Would definitely recommend the caves and the longer tours to see more of this wonderful natural wonder.

We went on the cathedral tour of the caves. Even with mums knee reconstruction she managed quite well. It was amazing. Once in the cathedral music is played and they have lights change the look of the cave before plunging into total darkness for the rest of the song. It was breathtaking. A couple swing bridges out and its definitely something to check out. There are even adventure tours if you want to try something a bit harder.

Remarkably good guided tour of the paleontology of the caves. The caves are a rich source of fossils and have yielded quite a lot of information for researchers, with some digs still in progress. The story of how the original owners got the caves is priceless. In many ways it was fortunate that the caves were privately owned so that they weren't ground into cement. Very informative tour by a member of the staff.

Had a fantastic time doing the Capricorn Adventurer tour yesterday Keegan was a fantastic guide (Despite his jokes ).
I just wish we took our phones with us on the tour for photos.
For anyone considering doing this tour, I would highly recommend doing it, and if you have a decent case on your phone, then bring it along for photos!

-About the powered site-

-About the powered site-
The camproung was nice, it had a big camp kitchen with a fireplace, big bathrooms and a laundry. The location was also very good.
It's near to a nice pub, which it's also not expensive and has the Capricorn Caves complex in it. Staying a night in the campground allows you to have a little discount for the caves tour.

The caves were awesome and the tour was very well done. Our guide was Kathrine and explained us everything, making all unique.
Maybe 30$ is a little bit expensive for an hour tour, but it is worth it.

The place is astonishing, and the caves are amazing. There is so little light pollution that you can really see a great night sky, and you can spot rock wallabies if you're lucky too! A special thanks to Emily who stayed a bit longer and let us in (say hello to Kevin! All of them!)

Accomodation was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing and bed in the cabin was so comfortable. Cave tour was excellent the tour guide unfortunately I cant remember his name but he was so knowledgeable and made it enjoyable for both adults and kids. Only let down was the customer service when checking us in for the accomodation and tour the woman was a wet blanket with no personality but wasn't going to let her spoil the afternoon/night.

About Capricorn Caves

Capricorn Caves - Exploring the Wonders of Nature

Capricorn Caves is a unique tourist destination located in the north of Rockhampton, Queensland. The caves are a spectacular system of above-ground caves that have been formed over millions of years in a limestone ridge. The Capricorn Caves offer visitors an opportunity to explore and experience the wonders of nature.

The Capricorn Caves are home to some of the most stunning natural formations in Australia. Visitors can marvel at stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, and other incredible rock formations that have been created by water dripping through limestone over thousands of years. The caves also feature underground streams and pools that add to their beauty.

One thing that sets Capricorn Caves apart from other cave systems is its accessibility. Unlike many underground cave systems, visitors do not need to be physically fit or experienced cavers to explore these caves. The majority of the cave system is above ground and easily accessible via well-maintained walkways.

Visitors can choose from several guided tours offered by Capricorn Caves depending on their interests and fitness levels. For those who want an easy stroll through the caves, there's a 45-minute tour called Cathedral Cave Tour which takes you through some magnificent chambers with impressive acoustics where concerts are held regularly throughout the year.

For those who want more adventure, there's an Adventure Tour which takes you deeper into the cave system where you'll crawl through narrow passages and climb up steep inclines before emerging into vast caverns filled with awe-inspiring rock formations.

If you're looking for something truly unique, then consider taking part in one of Capricorn Cave's special events such as their Underground Opera or Christmas Carols Concerts held annually during December.

Aside from exploring the caves themselves, there are plenty more activities available at Capricorn Caves for visitors to enjoy including abseiling down cliffs overlooking picturesque landscapes or taking part in guided bushwalks around nearby national parks where wildlife such as kangaroos and wallabies can be spotted along with rare bird species like black cockatoos or wedge-tailed eagles soaring overhead!

Capricorn Caves also offers accommodation options for those who want to stay overnight within walking distance from this natural wonderland! There are several types available including cabins nestled amongst trees offering privacy while still being close enough so guests can hear sounds emanating from inside these ancient caverns!

In conclusion, if you're looking for an unforgettable experience exploring one-of-a-kind natural wonders then look no further than Capricorn Caves! With its accessibility combined with breathtaking scenery both above ground as well as below it makes this destination perfect for all ages whether they're seasoned adventurers or first-time explorers!
