Great breakfast, large portions, and friendly wait staff

Fantastic food, friendly service and great charm. Definitely worth the visit.

I have always had a comfortable feeling there from entering the door until leaving. Being new to the area, I stopped into Cappy's try breakfast. Now I eat breakfast there 2 to 3 days a week. Personnel always personable and allow you order at your pace. Prices are reasonable for the food you receive. Have learned alot from the locals about the area of Newport Beach. Come and Get It...bring your appetite.

This has been around for years and I have never been a fan of their food or the service. Had to meet a client here the other morning so I was thrown together once again. This time I had their pancakes. They were overcooked and not fluffy and I pushed them around my plate waiting for my meeting to be over. The service was okay this time. Will not on purpose go back.

Came in to pick up an online order, some middle aged looking tall white guy was in the front as you walk in, i ask if my order is done he says not yet, so i came back 10 minutes later after sitting in the parking lot since there was no parking and had to double park. Pickup was scheduled at 10:30am at this point it was 10:45 so im getting frustrated because no ones updating me and this guy just keeps passing by me like im invisible. At this point i got upset and asked him should i just cancel the order? At this point it s almost 20 minutes past when my pickup time was, so he goes yeah cancel it if you want because I don t know when it will be done... i am thinking really you tell me to cancel the order because i asked again wheres my food(
Very unprofessional, place was packed so I doubt they care about a little $30 order but don t work in this business if you re gonna tell people to cancel their order because they got sick of waiting. Never going there again

We were visiting at Cappys vacation and the food is Excellent. So while there the waitress did not bring out what we ordered. Instead of taking the one plate back ( that she had in her hand) she takes all the food back. So when I said you can leave the other food. She kept going. My daughter said I offended her. I think I must have afterwards she never checked on us and she poured hot black coffee over my shoulder. I did not want to make a scene as it was near the end of our visit. I think she must have been offended. I really wanted to say something. As I write the review I should have told management and asked for an apology.

Cappy's is fantastic been going there for years and years and years.

Food was ok, nothing really special. Kids' meals are all about $7.

I have been going to Cappy's for over 25 years! Things have changed. The decor for one and the servers, some had been there for years and years, the menu is now bigger and they no longer have the early breakfast specials.
They are only open for breakfast and lunch, except on Wednesday, when they are open for dinner. Unless they changed that too.
The food is about the same except for the seasoned potatoes. I don't know how they did it but they came out very dry. Service has been very slow lately. I don't know what's up. Even the coffee refill were slow. Maybe the last 2 times have just been off days. On the other hand, it is a great place to see local color. Any tourist would love it. Across from the beach.

Good to Great food, depending on what you order. Pircing is very good. I've been coming here for 10 years. They've made some changes lately and all for the better. You really can't beat it for a hearty breakfast. Portions are very generous. You definitely won't leave hungry.

Wonderful place for, family, friends or business. Food is great old fashioned style home cooking. Large plates, fair pricing, fast service, great servers that are all very friendly. A must stop in and eat at least one time. You won't be disappointed...don't be surprised if you have to wait on the weekend.

The meatloaf is devine, served with mashed potatoes and a side. Also comes with soup or salad. Alot of food for a good price!

It's great but the portions are so large I'd honestly rather it was a couple bucks cheaper and half the size. You can literally share a plate and have plenty. Very tasty.

I am happy to leave 5 stars, I'd leave 10 if I could. The service was impeccable and the food, simply wonderful. My friend mad I were very happy with Cappy's, all the way around. It's no wonder they're as busy as they were, when we chose it as our eating spot. I'm scared to eat out during the pandemic but I can't wait to go back!

They were attentive when we got there but they took 30 minutes to bring us our food. Over all I still recommend because the food is good and the people working there are very nice

Crowded parking lot. Get a lot of people for breakfast. Prepare to wait.

We enjoyed breakfast today at Cappy's but made one big mistake to order turkey patty which was not fresh was kind rubber, should had order seafood which would had been freash, all others were great

Just about as good as it gets. Great breakfast menu. On this visit, I had the fish and chips and they were tender and not over breaded. Perfect! Service was great as well.

CAPPY's is always wonderful especially before Halloween the crew all dresses up just makes it a much more festive atmosphere

You could place an R after the C and have an accurate description of this place. Got a breakfast burrito, which they charged 3.50 extra to add bacon. That would be fine except I'm pretty sure they added bacon bits. At least that's what they tasted and looked like. And to top it off, they used low quality American cheese. Tasted like it might have been Kraft. There's a lot of options in Newport that are half the price and twice as good.

The food was fantastic and the employees were really nice and friendly. The bathrooms, which are for customers only, were really nice and clean.

Food is always good, their bloody Mary's were a bit watery. They used to be better. Best to go earlier on week ends for breakfast, it gets super crowded

Great place for a hearty breakfast with plenty to choose from on the menu. The portions were more than enough and the quality was great.

This place is a glorified Denny s. The stuffed French toast is thinly sliced white bread with egg & vanilla stuffed with cream cheese........stuffed? Really? There wasn t any! The hash browns were good but you can t really mess that up. For $14 I should get challah bread! & some dang cream cheese that s been stuffed inside! Ridiculous. Plus the champagne was the type to give you a headache after 1 glass! The service was good.

Would surely recommend trying out this place. Great mood, yummy dishes, excellent customer service. They never disappoint.

The food, service, and atmosphere are great. However the outdoor chairs are so uncomfortable.

Great breakfast and huge portions. There's a reason they have been in business so long. Only downside is the parking. It can be very limited.

Big portions but lacked in flavor. Waitress was nice. The only thing I really enjoyed was the crepe I ordered at the end of my breakfast.

You will not leave hungry! Soooo much food. The burrito I had was bigger then my head and my husbands prime rib was delicious!

My husband and i had our anniversary breakfast there with his dad too he lives with us he s part of family he hasnt been there for 15 yrs. My husband and i been married. 31 yrs. Very good service and food will be back for sure

First time here and loved the food and service! Please make sure to do the Yelp waitlist due to high volume of customers for great food! Great Bloody Mary s, Mimosa s tasty and the food is delicious especially the famous beef hash and eggs! Yummy!

Wonderful breakfast at Cappy's! Great food, good portions and nice atmosphere.

Came here because it's one of the few places open for brunch on Christmas! There is a small parking lot behind the cafe that includes plenty of parking! It was super busy when we arrived but we were still seated quickly!

We ordered:
BEACH BURRITO
- simple and good for vegetarians
- this thing is pretty huge so beware
- it came with some salsa which made everything taste much better

CALIFORNIA OMELETTE WITH HASH BROWNS
- crazy huge omelette!
- stuffed with tomatoes and bacon
- topped with a generous helping of cheddar cheese and half an avocado
- super filling and the hash browns were delicious!

EGGS BENEDICT WITH HASH BROWNS
- wow these are loaded
- it's an English muffin topped with spinach, bacon, poached egg, and sauce
- one setback was that the server dropped one of the eggs and didn't replace it the egg was still on the plate but it was already cracked and dripping over the side

Overall, a really solid place for diner food with quick service and almost no wait!
