Went there for skiing for 4 hours. Pretty fun, I guess?
The place overall was great other than a little ice in some spots but that s not what made me give this resort 3 stars the staff here is just lazy and look like they dont want to be there i also came across a working lady on the green hill after i fell for my 3rd time that day and that time was to stop me from hitting a stopped little child and she asked me if i knew where the beginner hill is so I explained to her how to get there and she said in a very nasty way if you are a beginner you should be there i told her that no I m not a beginner and that she should be happy for me not hitting the child off of the cliff side and that i was on the black trail 5 times already that day i kept on snowboarding but it remained in my head all day so if you are a person who likes nice staff and likes snowboarding i try to ask the disrespectful staff members for there names and report them to another worker
I wish I can give this place a 0 rating. Hands down the worst hotel/ water park I EVER been too. Furniture is HORRIBLE AND FILTHY!!!!! I'm here now. Word of advice.... this place might be cheaper than the other water parks....but PLEASE take your family somewhere else
While I have never stayed at the resort itself, we regularly visit the mountain for skiing day trips. The mountain itself is generally always in good order and is well groomed. They have locker rooms and the facilities are generally very clean and offer suitable amenities for the day on the mountain. The on-site bar/restaurant has a great casual menu with burgers and salads. Their is also a grab and go food court that offers plenty of additional options. Overall Camelback offers a great experience for area, it's hard to compare skiing in eastern PA to other Larger mountains, but it's definitely a great experience without having to travel several hours.
Good place for skiing, snow tubing, snowboarding. Just make sure you are prepared for cold weather
Probably one of the best mountains in the poconos, in terms of trails. Customer service is good. However, it got really expensive and they charged for parking! I was under the impression that they were going to limit capacity and that's why it's way more expensive. But it was packed. Had a good day, but not that many runs in, unfortunately. Be prepared to pay for parking!
Had a great time. Staff was great. Bathrooms were okay but poorly lit. Parking was tough and it felt a little unsafe walking from parking spot up two hills with no side walk. For those with Asthma or breathing problem it could pose a problem. Cars were going up and down this path too fast! It pays to get your tickets online. Overall a great experience.
The bar has pretty good food but the cafeteria food is awful. The slopes are good when there s been a recent snow. Lots of lifts but on busy weekends be prepared to wait in line.
A bit pricey for what it is.....for the same money the catskills offers more for the ski/board enthusiast as far as the riding is concerned. Camelback does have a fantastic familial atmosphere that you don't see in a lot of ski resorts, in fact the only other resort in the immediate southern NY driving distance that compares to the familial sense that CB offers I would have to say, the Berkshires and its' quaint little hill called Jimmy peak.
Tuesday we decided to go snowtubing with the family so I purchased the tickets for the 4pm session. My car broke (we're coming from NYC, mind that, with a 4 years old jittery box), we've been delayed a couple of hours. On the website they say that time lost is non refundable. We show up and we ask kindly if we can pay the difference and get to the 6pm session (the last one), the girl a the booth told me it was all booked then she asked the manager and repeated the same thing offering passes for another day. I accept still salty of the lost occasion. The manager printed 3 tickets and told us to get ready to slide cause she made it happen! PRICELESS!!!!!
Thank you again. We'll come back more often!!!!
Have to pay for parking now after never having to before. Up to $30-$40 for spots that where free last season
Great Ski resort, lots of beginners trails that you can go with kids. Expert trails are really exciting and long. The best Ski resort in North East!!!
Renting a cabana is an amazing option when spending the day at the water park. I had a great time there over 4th of July weekend and immensely enjoyed the fireworks show they put on.
A diverse playing field from bunny slopes to black diamonds and lifts to bring you to and from . Friendly atmosphere and employees, location is odd as you have to keep going past the water park in order to access the ski resort as well as the preferred parking not having that much of an advantage of the free lot.
Didnt know what to expect as a first time visitor, but i must say this place is great. My daughter whos 4 loved it, my son whos 10 months loved it, and my wife had a great time. Picnic area is awsome and plenty of places to relax and take in the amusments!
Awesome place for skiing. Snow tubing is on a different place
Small mountain not many trails, but for being so close by it's worth it.
I love this place its so relaxing but still close to home
We called to inquire about snowtubing at about 11am. We got there after driving an hour, at 4pm and they said they were sold out and we could not tube. Why did they waist our day and not tell us on the phone??
The air conditioner kept shutting off and when you have trouble breathing and autistic children they don't understand why it was so hot in the room for $599.00 a night you should be able to have your air on Continuously, and the microwave and the coffee pot didn't go on they said to put the master switch on and we did, thank God we had two rooms so we had to go into the other room to use the microwave and coffee pot, other than that everything was perfect, beautiful indoors water park beautiful rooms.
Camelback had great conditions. The new restaurant/bar has solid offerings at a reasonable price.
had a lot of fun. kids love it. and we did too gotta go back again
If you are interested in a family friendly get away and are ready to splurge than this place is perfect for you. The main downside to this resort is that ski tickets and onsite rentals are crazy expensive. However if you're willing to look past the price tag the slopes are well groomed in the morning and the lines are relatively short.
12 hrs of skiing kick my ass, so im going back for revenge.
If you're looking for resort convenience and on campus fun this is your place...but if you are looking for excellent amenities, room service etc beware they are short on everything - housekeeping staff, room service, coffee makers, garbage cans and cups...the staff that were there tho were amazing and did a great job probably working 3x harder than they are getting paid for.
Very disappointed. I used to come here often and decided to purchase tickets online for my husband and I. It said I could only book online for lift tickets and rentals. I figured this was to keep things contactless due to Covid. I also thought they were limiting the amount of people due to Covid. Nope. The place is packed. We had to wait in a long line to get our tickets and rentals. There are people packed in the rental area shoulder to shoulder. The staff is not sanitizing countertops, most aren't wearing masks properly. Guests aren't wearing masks. The lift lines are packed. It's an hour plus wait. The slopes are packed with people just sitting and not moving and the slopes are icey. Very dangerous. We got our rentals and felt so uncomfortable we returned them 5 mins later and left. Do not come here. It's a breeding ground for covid.
Looking for family fun all year around? This is the place. Summer time a little crowded and the lawn chairs need some TLC.
This place doesn t care about your safety. No covid regards and no limitation on sales
Bad advertising camelback had a Halloween special for night zip lining, and for a monster coaster ride the only thing they DON'T tell you that the tickets are only for there hotel guests only first and if any are left they sell to the public witch is only like 1 or 2 tickets they have left to the public they tell go on line all i can say is best of luck
We loved our stay. Great skiing and had lots of fun at the ski park. Only wished we could have stayed longer!
Let me start by saying, I will NEVER return to this covid cesspool pandemic or not. There are absolutely no covid restrictions in the water park area... no social distancing, and horrible staffing! 3 rides open which was crazy to me and the rationale for this was the lack of staffing. I will not mention names because the staff were kind and helpful but someone mentioned they don t get paid enough to deal with the stress to enforce the mask laws... another staff member mentioned that tons of there staff is on unemployment because they get paid more along with constant call outs with no backup staff to fill the void.
Listen I could go on for hours... the giant stain in one of the beds proved that they did not change sheets between guests (hello COVID).... just disgusted! Go somewhere else!!!!!
2 stars for the very kind and hard working staff members!
The mountain is packed, huge lines on the lifts and nobody to organize. A bunch of people together on the lifts. Almost no COVID-19 restrictions, and even the staff working on the lifts are not wearing masks all the time.
The service kind of sucked in terms of finding you group of you lose touch or park a million miles away from one another. But the mountain was fun!
The mountains were nice to ski on, but were more catered for beginners.
Great ski staff. Friendly folks and a great time on the mountain.
Great galactic tubing for the price. Ran by so many teenagers though!
Camel Beach is an awesome experience! Every year they just keep adding more attractions. This year they have added zip lining and a manual roller coaster where you or you and a child can go down it together and control the speed. The waterpark is definitely the best in the Pocono Mountains and all of Northeast PA. The only drawback for them is that it gets extremely crowded extremely fast. There are a lot of New Yorkers that live in The Poconos over the summer and some all year round that kind of flood the place early so if you are going to go get there before it opens to ensure you get a spot and make sure you keep your spot for the entire day. There is so much to do there with their huge water park, batting cages, a scenic ride on their chair lift, batting cages, zipline, roller coaster, great food and family fun. If you can't go to the beach this summer go to Camel Beach instead!
One of the best vaca spots in the east, from the indoor water park to the extra clean rooms, this resort has everything need for a perfect family vacation. Only reason didn't give 5 starts is there is NO repeat NO accommodations for special needs which i haven't seen any, I know why now, but my 6 year old daughter. She had a blast just limited due to no kind of accommodations for her. when I asked 2 different staff member the look of confusion let me know they don't accommodate them and whenever they asks "...what accommodations?... that always means they don't. but they did it nicely and not all places do but i did expect it because it camelback. but will be coming back just not on big fam vacations.
The mountain is ok, but the conditions vary wildly and their focus is clearly on summer activities. Most times it's seems they do the bare minimum (if that) unless they're expecting an out of state crowd for a competition or something.
It is usually pretty icey too, it may soften up some during the day while the sun is out but it'll be that much worse when it goes down then.
Given their obvious focus on the hotel, waterslides, and tourists the typical crowd can be a lot to put up with. If it's crowded I won't go, they run the lifts at a snail's pace compounding the problem. There is almost always a line and it's usually the type of people who ski over your board right into the parking lot.
It's a nice place that in the middle of the week wasn't very busy. In practice it really only has one lift and only a few runs, your going to be pretty bored by mid day doing the same path over and over. I also found it to be a little on the pricey side. I think it's ok for biggeners but not much else. Descent size ski school with dedicated runs for the kids, which worked well for my child, after two days of lessons she was doing a great job coming down the hill with me. If your coming from the West coast though, which I am, this is a pretty sub-par resort.
My friend and I took ski classes here. Everything started with friendly people greeting and directing us in the parking lot, then we got our rental equipment, visited their shop (where you can buy all the ski outfit - which I couldn't find in the stores before going there), and then the class itself is top notch. Ask for instructor Harris. He is a rock star . He joined to our class later, and the first thing he did was helping 2-3 people who were struggling on the snow to stand up which caught my attention. He was explaining and teaching very clearly and was very motivating.
Overall, this place is very well organized and staff is very kind and friendly. Definitely going back!
I did not stay at the resort however my experience was wonderful. My friends and i went snowboarding early morning after a snow storm. The mountain had no electrical power and had a delayed opening (8:30am original open time. Opened at 10am) however once power was restored they opened and we had an amazing time. The mountains and lifts were well kept and we saw no additional problems. They could do better on the food.
So, trails and conditions? Great. Everything else? OOF. 30 Minute lift lines, unlimited ticket sales during a pandemic, no mask enforcement, even in their restaurants. They have a fully functional bar at one of the summits, people standing at the bar, no masks, drinking, at least 20 maskless people in a 15x10 room.
The lift lines are like a frat house, with open containers everywhere, no line expediters to direct traffic.
Overall, the riding was good, but because of all the other factors, including the price we're paying for non-exclusive tickets, me and my friends won't be returning.
Finally, parking is a nightmare, one nice thing is they actually have a paved lot, so no mud. However, I would hope so considering the parking fee is $10-$40. Little if not no signage on how much each lot costs.
I Am a two year member here at camel back. The staff is kind and the members As well. I recommend it to anyone that loves to have fun. Great for family and friends As well.
Close to NYC makes a day trip possible but also crowded. Lots of lifts and trails although long wait can be a problem. The value season pass make it worthwhile.
Keeps you very busy lots of stuff to do during the day and the evening my family members love it
Two stars for the mountain/atmosphere. I am local so I decided to check it out one day... sadly I won't be going back. Way too expensive.. $30 for parking!?! Rip off. Big lift lines, employees yelling at you at the bottom while you try to catch your breath. Wish it was better because it's only 15 min away. They don't care about local patronage, it's all tourists. If I ride, I will do it at elk, even though it's an hour and ten.
Oh and this is funny, this is the first mountain I've ever been to where the trailmap was inverted left/right. Why? Very confusing.
Great mountain & runs! Disappointed the mountaintop lounge wasn't open..
Had a blast and Dee is awesome, she was great help to my family and i. Thank you Dee
Varied terrain, great conditions, no lines on a Tues in March
Best experience of my life. I stayed over at their hotel. Their service seems good and the rides are so cool. I would definitely recommend going here for a summer vacation. They also have an outdoor one which you should check out. Also the indoor one is heated making it feel like an outdoor experience. This is the indoor water park view at night.
Nice place to swim, kid friendly place. My only concern is about the food. My son has nut allergy and can only eat gluten-free foods in which there was no choices of these kinds of food. We ordered hotdogs and one was still cold inside
With the exception of Mount Snow, VT, this is probably the best place to go for advanced/experts skiers in the NYC vecinity. Black lanes are generally clear and skiers/snowboarders are civilised and professional. The only negative aspect would be the waiting time to pick a lift, but considering the quality of the courses, it's somehow understandable.
Cant wait to go back!!! Cant wait for the next ski season to go back!!!
This is great for families. Indoor water park that comes included. Good outdoor water park too.has adventure park. Didn't do that. Not ny thing. Has dinner & breakfast buffet included.
Awesome mountain, well cared slopes. Great for family and friends to spend some good old time.
Not covid safe at all.
- No mask enforcement. Many people were not wearing masks on the chairlift lines, on the food lines inside the tents , at the lockers, and even just walking around the resort!
- No outdoor picnic tables. Only covid tents which is essentially indoor dining (and not allowed at this time) with poor ventilation.
- Lastly, pack your own food because you'll have to go into the covid tents to buy food.
My family has been here many times pre-covid but we do not feel safe coming back for a long time.
Plenty of trails for all levels of experience. Lots of instructors for ski and snowboarding school. Can be a bit crowded waiting in line for tickets and at food concession area.
