I am very disappointed with Cal fit because of the way they are handling Covid-19 and treating their customers during this uncertain time. When I got the news that they are reopening, I tried to get in contact with someone to cancel, due to financial hardship, but found it to be impossible. The email they sent, said to call the corporate office or email them with any cancellation questions. If you call, the cancellation department does not pick up and the voicemail box is full. If you email, you just recieve a generic autoreply. So I tried calling every other department only to have the same issue. The only department that answered was the delinquent payment department. I understand their priorities now. The only important thing to Cal fit is getting their money, so of course the only department answering the phone is the one collecting money from late payments. I talked to a staff member named Andre, who had nothing but attitude when I told him that I needed to cancel. He said I would be charged $300 for cancelling even though I'm facing financial hardship. I stated again that I am unable to afford the fee and the monthly memebership and may not be able to pay rent if I pay this fee. He responded by reminding me that Covid-19 was not Cal Fit's fault and my only options were to temporarily freeze my account which only defers the cancellation fee or resume the monthly membership. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. He transferred me, but it went to voicemail. It has been a week and I still haven't received a call back from the supervisor. Calfit's policies and practices right now are predatory and criminal because they are are clearly taking advantage of people to make more money during this pandemic. I never expected this type of treatment from Cal Fit. When my financial security returns to normal, I will never return to Cal Fit because of their unprofessionalism and greed during this difficult time.

One fan for everyone in the lockerroom, stupid life guards kicked kids out of a lane, while there were 2 lanes opened, for some other guy to swim. Children are not allowed to swim. If you love your family, and want to spend some good time, I wouldn't recommend the swimming pool, your children would not like it, especially if they are teens. This isn't a good choice from California Family Fitness. . There are better California Family Fitness at other places. I would recommend the one near sunrise.

When I first walked into this gym, I immediately realized the attentiveness of the staff and the cleanliness of the gym. I Liked the fact that there are sanitizing towels on the end of each aisle.

Clubs are fine except the do not enforce their own policy of no cell phones except in the lobby. Very annoying to have other members talking LOUD on their phones on the workout floor or even in the sauna! Also, many machines get tied up due to others sitting on them and texting! The biggest complaint I have is billing! They claim I missed a payment even though I have an auto pay set up in my
checking account. I set this up over two years ago with no problems until recently. I sent them a copy of my bank statements but that wasn't enough. They still claim I owe the money! This will be my last month at Cal Fit!

It s ridiculous.
The stuff who respond to me was really unfriendly and annoying.
I just wanted to keep my account freeze 2 days befor reactivate. She told me they can t do it with out charging. And i asked about cancel my membership and they told me i have to pay 2 more month
It s funny, it s cheating, I m not suggesting them.

I have been a gym rat since I was 12 years old: this place by far has just the most extensive collection of equipment and a plethora of weight machines, not to mention an great pool, amazing hot tub and the Orangevale location that I typically go to is the least crowded. Plus they have awesome childcare when you need a break from the kiddos

This is first and last time that Ill be visiting this gym, dirty water fountains, dirty mens locker room, and worst of all when I came into sauna room, it smelled like URINE! Smell was so strong that I had to leave in less than a minute WOW drove for 20 min, it looks very nice on the outside tho, but dont let the "cover of the book" fool you.

Pushy sales people....the way the sales people are paid is by the hour(most minimum wage) with a 10 dollar bonus for singles and 15 for couples. They also get rewarded and have quotas to get money up front. Not a bad location but it can get crowded.

At OV Pow-Wow days the representative doing PR work lost all intrest of family fitness that I had. As I was interested in a gym that had more to offer my son as well as me. Ive been a member of 24 hour fitness for the last 15 yrs. But offer nothing entertains my 9yr old son. This egotistical Guy offer no heart, so sole, absolutely nothing. In fact it was a huge turn off. For I was considering witching gym membership. Piss poor people. Stay dazed!

This place is best described with two words - and ...

This place is best described with two words - and one of the is "cluster." The pricing is fair enough - my plan let's me use all clubs...which I do. I live up the street and I'll go to Rocklin or Folsom if I can. Heck, I'd take the Madison club over this one. Greenback smells moldy and there is little control over the trolls that readily walk around dripping wet after taking a bath in the pool. I have no issues with the staff, however. They're all friendly and do what they can. But - I find it ironic that the corporate location is the foulest.

This was my gym back in the 90's and when I moved back to Orangevale 3 years ago became home gym again. I am here 5-6 days a week. This gym is always clean and they are updating all the time. The staff is warm and kind and the trainers are knowledgeable. I

I also agree with other reviewers in that the clubs are pretty good. The Sunrise gym kids club folks were the best I've ever experienced. The personal trainers were adequate but push supplements which I find insulting. I spent over $1K on personal training and would rather get educated trainers to help guide with long term goal and educate me on fitness rather than pushing supplements.

I rejoined the club and just canceled today after asking what I need to do to cancel at the front desk about 2 weeks ago. CFF makes the cancellation process difficult with fine print in the contract that the sales folks don't cover with you. There is a requirement that you cancel several days before your last payment and you make one final payment before you're free. Cancellation must be in writing and submitted only between 9 and 5 Monday - Friday. You can sign up anytime on any day but cancellation must follow these strict terms. Then you have to pay one additional payment! That's just adding insult to injury, for me.

I rejoined once and this recent hassle reminded me of time before that I had overlooked because I thought their facilities were better. The customer service is very poor when it comes to vacation holds or cancellation of membership. I guess they figure they lost you and just want to milk any last bit of money they can from you. If they really cared about their customers, they might get more repeat business.

As for me, I'll never rejoin because I don't think two months ahead for everything I do. I sometimes need to take an extended vacation and want flexibility to cancel or put things on hold without feeling jerked around.

And I would stress the word VERY VERY POOR, not fair at all. They don't make the accommodations that they promise when you move out of state. Very Very over priced. When you sign up apparently you pay the last month and under contract it is non refundable. However, when you sign up, they tell you some bs that if you move out of state it breaks contract, which sounds great since there aren't facilities anywhere but california. It's unfortunate because even if you're a member for a long time, past the point of your contract and become month to month... they don't refund your last month that you paid for, even if you move out of state and you can't work out. My assumption is that they do not VALUE their customers, they just want your MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$

Would give it zero if I could. The gym itself is great and the hourly employees are friendly, but holy CHRIST is their corporate customer service bad.

It's a process and a half to join. I work overseas but am home for a couple months at a time. Even though I've been a member before, I have to pay the startup fee again if I want to rejoin. This time, they assured me that I would be able to cancel last minute and not worry about paying extra months. Stupidly I listened.

Well, of course I was called away at a moment's notice. I called in to the club trying to explain my situation and cancel my membership, but was told I needed to email membership services. "I'm literally at the airport about to get on a plane and then won't have email for a month" "Well, that's your only option."

Now I'm dealing with membership services and they are equally horrible. They refuse to be lenient for any reason, even though it's clear I used my membership on a daily basis up until I left at which point I haven't used it once because I'm out of the country.

It's not even the money that's important, I actually LIKE the gym and my family have all been members there for yeaaars. So when I'm home, I'd like to use that gym. But the way they're treating the whole situation, NFW. Spread the hate people, CAL FIT SUCKS!

This location is not bad, I like to workout here, lots of new equipments, stuff is nice, always seems helpful but dry sauna needs updates and steam room smells like sewer hole, there's no eucalyptus oils like it should be. I been few times to LIFETIME Fitness and their steam room is always smells fresh. Please fix it.

I just switched to lifetime fitness way bigger more equipment options more cleanliness they have crew come in late nights even to clean equipment and the gym. I always get pink eye or skin problems at this gym my bf went once with me to the gym and he caught mrsa skin infection because this gym is so gross and dirty.
Was a long time member for a few years. The last few mths I ve been patient but things got worse and worse here. Creepy guys in the steam room always watching me workout staring at me for long periods.
The cleanliness has gone downhill actually don t persistently clean equipment.always sweat stains on equipment. One machine I used had hair and dust on it and it was still there 3days later. The unisex bathroom is always dirty and disgusting there was even nasty nose boogers swiped on the unisex bathroom wall
Everytime I go to the gym here lately one or more of my machines I use consistently was out of order for a wk or longer and I didn t workout for a wk because I got tired of it.I now switched gyms because of this they need better management and better cleaners who actually clean the gym right!

This week, after many years, I updated my fast track plan with the trainer Brian Cravalho at Family Fitness in Orangevale. I learned more from him in this single appointment then all trainers combined spanning a 35 year period. He is outstanding. I am setting up an appt. for my husband ASAP. If I owned a gym, I would steal him from you guys. In depth, personal assessment with an awesome, inspiring attitude. I just really want to thank whoever hired Brian!!

WORST Experience dealing with billing and being given correct information! I and my friend were over charged both times we told them and were told it was ok to postpone payment,.Yet they sTILL took out the payment on normal billing date! and we were both overdrafted!!! And then when we put a freeze on it,,,we werent told it would EXTEND our contract until after we tried to cancel on our original end contract date... DO NOT RECCOMEND!

Should you choose to go...make sure you ask ALOT of questions and get ALL information.

First let me say before posting here I have tried to resolve my concerns with the gym to no avail. This is not a gym I would recommend to anyone unless you want to waste money. I was quoted and signed a contract for one rate and have been overcharged every month! I have spoken to two different "managers" both told me they couldn't fix it on their end but would reach out to corporate offices. This has been an issue since signing up in August and has not been fixed. So either they did not contact anyone else or the corporate office does not care to live up to their end of the contract. I am completely disapointed the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is Christina Salas (trainer) was absolutely amazing to work with for my one on one personal assesment when I first joined. I'm in a lose lose with this gym if I cancel I am charged 300+ to cancel or over charged every month until the contract ends.

Went there yesterday to meet a friend. I'm a non member and thought maybe I could get a one-day pass to check out the gym to see if I wanted to join. They charged $15 for a one-day pass!!! huh??? I pay 10/mo when I pre-pay for a year at my gym here in Roseville. The gym itself was okay. Decent amount of equipment. Kinda loud inside. Lockers were half the size of the one at my gym. I literally had to stuff my gym bag (standard duffle bag) sideways to get it in. Otherwise, most of the equipment is up to par. Nothing special. Good mix of people there. They had several sales people near the entrance peddling goods and services which I find extremely annoying! I go to the gym to work out, NOT to shop.

I joined California Family Fitness in April of 2018. My right shoulder was injured and movement was extremely limited. Janiece, my personal trainer showed me the best ways to get pain free movement! Working out several days a week over the past year, my shoulder is moving freely! I can lift my arms above my head and do complete rotations! I have also lost 15 pounds and 5 inches off my waist! Getting healthy and back in shape is not easy, but with Cal Fit it is possible!! Join Cal Fit today!

Used to be charter member but dropped as my billing was constantly screwed up. They say they are taking auto pay out on 15th, but then take it out on the 10th. Or the bill is not crediting payment. I am not the only one who has had this problem. Used to be really top notch and they do have pool. However for the billing issues and price I expect better.

I joined CFF a little over a month ago. This location is okay but doesn t have the flow of open feel of their bigger locations. There is lots of space in the locker room so I m never crowded when changing. The lockers are smaller and don t have locks, so bring your own. Overall I think CFF could be cleaner. This locations bathroom regularly smells bad and the water pressure is weak. More often then not I use the Folsom location because of this locations deficiencies. Improvement needed here.

I begged and pleaded to Cal Family Fitness to release me of my remaining contract obligation before they all confusingly and haphazardly re-open. With the outbreak I cannot see bringing my children, wife or myself to a gym in the reasonable future- economy opening or not. I also expressed that as a healthcare worker who works in high risk environments every day, that I don t want to add more risk into my life. I also explained that I must keep healthy so that I can continue helping others. After numerous tries. All I got was a heartless reply saying you have not fulfilled your contract . They obviously have a business to run. They obviously have an agreement to hold accountable, but these circumstances are beyond anyone's control and therefore not something they should be holding accountable. I ve never bailed on a gym agreement or any agreement for that matter. I can t help the fact that they (like many other business) are hurting. But to hold me and my family hostage? Where s the family in that? They couldn t listen to me for two seconds or show a shred of human decency- they just needed their bottom line guaranteed payment every month- regardless of the new world around us. They offered me an additional one-month freeze once they re-open . Essentially they are now going to charge me every month or a large cancellation once they re-open . Has anyone seen models of purposed re-opening gyms? It s laughable. Completely asinine. People spread out in gyms, wearing masks no one signed up and agreed to putting their hard earned money towards that kind of experience. If they are so confident in re-opening then they shouldn't care who leaves. They should see what clients return who are ok with assuming the risks. But they won't do that will they. Because they already have all their clients bank info when they controversially "re-open". They shouldn't be placing that kind of burden on their clients. I could not be more disappointed in their heartless and apathetic reply. DO NOT SIGN UP HERE! Do not give away your hard earned money to these people. Never in my life have I had a gym experience like this. Never in my life have I ever written a review like this. Sign up anywhere else.

this gym has a huge problem with some guys in white hats spraying some sort of smelly spay in the steam room and pouring water on the temperature guage making it way too hot. they are in all the time. they dont work out. just use that steam room and sit in the pool. they have no respect for anyone else around them and will lie by telling you they are allowed. they also get confrontational when asked to stop. talking with management i was told "it been a problem they are trying to handle internally and externally." what ever that means. to me, it shows they dont care about the members safety, nor the members ability to access all of their amenities. if u swim and use the steam room, id stay away from this one untill they can enforce their own rules appropriately. too bad too. used to be such a nice gym.

We paid for a ONE -TIME 30 day membership. Once the 30 days were up, we were inundated with phone calls, text messages, and emails practically BEGGING us to sign a contract. We weren't able to block emails and phone calls because, as soon as you "block", they call from another number and email from another address.

Change from five stars to three stars because it seems like the staff does not care and is pretty clueless to anything going on. if you ask them a question they act like you're bothering them.
Payed more money for better service but at least the gym is nice and overall pretty decent just don't expect anything from staff other than check-in and check-out. Even the personal training sessions it's like pulling teeth to get a session, I would think they would pursue your business more
I don't know it just seems like they don't really care what you think.
