The only good thing is its location, service leaves much to be desired, I made a reservation for 2 rooms and I got 1 on the 7th floor and another on 4, there was no soap in the room and it was not replenished in 2 nights I was there.

Good central location. It's a quiet district. The room I had was nicely modernised... The bathroom was excellent and the room clean and tidy. I was on a business trip but my company always pits us in the cheapest rooms. So my room was quite small - ok for one but very cosy for two. The desk for work was not deep enough for a decent working area. The extractor fan in the shower comes on at 07:00 and went off at 23:00, which was "odd", as it had no connection to whether the bathroom light was on or not. The cheapest rooms face into a small quad with very little daylight filtering down and the window was small. You can open the window but right outside mine was a noisy piece of machinery that started at 07:00 and ended at 23:00....perhaps connected to the bathroom extractors? The staff are very friendly, attentive and professional. The breakfast is what you would expect from a place like this - the usual self-service selection and variety. All good stuff. The free WiFi worked well. So unless you are a very sound sleeper who doesn't want anything more than a clean bed and bathroom then don't go for the cheapest rooms. Go up a level and given the general quality of the hotel I could see elsewhere I think you will be happy with your choice.

Super small rooms.. thin towels, one gel for everything mounted on wall. If last leg on tour you get rooms by elevator and air hvac systems...bed squeaks loudly if just rolling over. ... however great salad and dining food service.

Stayed at Academy Plaza for one night in a standard room. The room is small however offers all the comforts one needs, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, a desk to do work. I can recommend when traveling for work.

NO ONE at the reception speaks Spanish. I think it's a joke, in Spain at least they speak Spanish + English + another. Not too friendly. I went sightseeing, my mother stayed at the hotel and had to go down to reception to ask a thing of a plug and talking gestures xq I spoke French or Portuguese .... The hotel? All right. Reception / hall, nice, good location, cleanliness very well, but compared to a Spanish 3 * pichi pichi, but above all that the staff does not speak or dad of Spanish you stay in check. I recommend? Yes, and if it were not for the staff I would give it 4 stars but I think it's a big mistake.

Stay here.

Stay here.
Gem of a hotel:
Very clean and up to date.
Friendly and helpful staff and service.
Bright, well lit, tea pot, fridge, plenty of storage, efficient room.
Free fast WiFi
Excellent food downstairs in hotel.
Perfectly located near transport and sights.
James Joyce Center a quick couple of blocks away.
Pubs, stores, shops, food close.

It was the family run hotel notion that attracted us but we were to be sadly disappointed.
(1) Check in was 2.30pm, arrived at early noon and was told room was not ready; acceptable and went for lunch. On return there was a large group tour check in, mainly students quite happily chatting away. Anxious to settle down after a tiring journey I managed to catch the eye of one receptionist and asked about my room but was told in no uncertain terms to wait in the queue ! I thought this was a missed opportunity for the hotel to go the extra mile and made a difference. When things quiet down after 20 minutes, my annoyance was vindicated when it took her less than 10 seconds to retrieve the keys; everything was all ready except the handover! To retrieve our luggage her instructions were follow me ; the word please was not in her vocabulary. In the evening I raised the issue with the manager who was equally unsympathetic or apologetic. A solution to such occasions is to provide additional standby staff to handle such simple queries for other customers.
(2) The breakfast offerings are the standard hot and cold; adequate and depends on one s preferences. Mine to start a good morning is a lovely bowl of mixed fresh fruits but on offer were tinned prunes and tinned grapefruit pieces. To the health conscious, prunes can be diarrhoeic and grapefruits are off limit for those on blood pressure medication (meaning me) The restaurant manager was appreciative of my concerns.

I hope management will take this as constructive criticisms; with Airbnb as the new kid on the block, customer focus, going the extra mile and making a difference is the only way forward. Needless to say I will be looking for a different hotel on my next visit.

Nice and clean hotel with spacious rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only problem we had when we stayed was the fire alarm going off multiple times in the early hours resulting in the entire hotel being evacuated. But the staff handled this well and it wasn't the hotels fault.

Reception desk was awesome very friendly and helpful. Rooms extremely clean and quiet. Beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and a huge selection. Service staff was extremely helpful to my mother who has celiac when it came to telling her what she could and couldn't eat. Every morning the staff remembered us and told us to have a wonderful day. Check out was easy. Can't wait until the street work will be finished. I will still return here and stay because of the location. Awesome location for the airport bus drop off and pick up and centrally located for O'Connell Street.. the restaurants and temple bar area.

Perfectly nice place to stay. Affordable and clean with friendly staff. If you're needing to be in this area / north of the river, this is a good option. I think it is 3-starred (if that means anything to you) but felt interchangeable with some 4-starred places I've stayed. All in all, a decent place.

Friendly helpful staff. Clean and tidy accommodation, although bedrooms a little small, also bathrooms. The food in the dining room is good although the breakfast is somewhat disorganized and a bit of a free for all.

Nice hotel overall - Room wasn't amazing but was clean and the staff are great. Breakfast is nice, a lot to choose from. Location is perfect, joins onto the O'Connell street and bus stop is opposite for easy transfers. Would happily stay again.

Great hotel right in the center of Dublin close to everything for sightseeing ... all buses stop next door..it's really the best

The staff at night reception, very badly. They gave us wrong information about services such as breakfast and wifi, they also charged twice the stay. Nobody spoke Spanish or a little .... They proceeded to the return of the amounts charged more, a month later. Cleaning and order of rooms very well and breakfast room also. The location is good, the center of the city.

The hotel is a little bit old, but is perfectly located near Murrays pub. Its rooms are clean and average sized. The staff are helpful. The airlink bus from Dublin airport stops right in front of the hotel.

Rooms are extremely small you can hear the drunks next to in the room as they in the same room noise until 4 o'clock in the morning. and the bathroom worse the maid is not very diligent either. The shower was dirty was the 5 days never properly cleaned etc. price performance here are not compatible! From Tuesday to Saturday about 250 from Saturday to Sunday they wanted 220 for one night 30 less than for 3 nights seems to me exaggerated . The good one is right in the city. OK for one night but several days I can not recommend it.

Horrible service. Even spoke with the manager to no avail. Wow. I'd never recommend that place to anybody.
They're entire attitude changed once they found out I was originally from Israel.

All of the hotels in the area wouldn't let my friend and I in they all gave the excuse that they were fully booked and left us on the street at 3am. The hotel were so friendly and welcoming and really saved our night. Customer service is great and the beds are super comfortable! :)

Nice enough place with nice bar staff, but we were given a room with a damaged handle and no lock on the shower room. The handle itself was barely hanging on with loose screws. See photo. At breakfast (buffet) I could see no trays and asked for one. I gave up waiting for the staff member to come back and instead just made a few trips to my table.

Staff very efficient at check in and on food service. If you are afraid of small spaces then don't stay here rooms are on the small side but comfortable all the same. Can't really fault the hotel.

Location location location was everything as far as this hotel goes. Plus upon arrival we were able to check into our room right away after flying overnight from the US. Ask for early check in if it's available to you. You can walk to many of the nearby attractions but also there are a lot of buses and street trams nearby. Save a lot of money from the airport to the hotel by taking the airlink bus number 747. We purchased a leap pass which was good for 3 days of unlimited use on the city's transport. You can get them at terminal one or terminal to before leaving the airport

Only the location of the hotel is good. The rooms are much too small, the breakfast costs 10 euros per person per day and the walls are very clairaudient. We had partly the feeling in the bed of the room neighbors to sleep, so loud was the noise level. The normal road noise was unbearable. Too bad pity but unfortunately no recommendation ...

For such a huge hotel, it lacks a bit of charm. We had a small double room with a view of the dark back yard (creepy). The breakfast from the buffet (lots of choice, also full Irish breakfast available) and the central location of the hotel with bus stop in front of the door and only a 1 minute walk to O'Connell Street, Dublin's main thoroughfare, should be mentioned positively. Staff was very friendly throughout.

+ Room was clean and nice, great location and reception staff are lovely and allowed early check in.

- I gave 2 stars because atleast 3 times during my stay the cleaners had tried to open my door dispite me adding the do not disturb sign, they only said "hello" and didn't give me a chance to respond before they had tried opening the door. Then later on I had realised they had turned the do not disturb sign around as they would have an excuse if I was to complain. This is a let down as I have stayed at the academy plaza hotel before, and before I was about to check out during my last stay there again a cleaner had opened my door while I wasn't changed.
Also the hotel was very noisy during my 5 night stay I don't recall getting a good nights sleep due to intoxicated people speaking very loudly and slamming doors at 3am and small children running around and screaming at 7am also the cleaners were shouting right outside of my room very early in the morning and slamming doors. Unfortunately I will not be staying here again.

It is brilliantly located, about 15 minutes from the Temple bar pub (to say the least), or Trinity college. The rooms are spacious and new, although there were people in my group who must have been in some of them not yet renovated, and they were not very satisfied. The correct breakfast

Fine

The next club is a bit noisy at night. On weekends, you can hear hymns from the church in front of the hotel.
