Quintessential Amsterdam experience to enjoy local beers at a brewery that sits side-by-side with one of the last standing windmills. Talk about picturesque. The outdoor courtyard area is a great place to enjoy a beer and new friends. Beers themselves are decent, though not spectacular. Service is friendly.

Yeah, well the folks you order your beer or snacks from at the counter are not really all that friendly. But, that doesn t diminish the charm of the place. I mean seriously. It s a friggin windmill! How totally cool is that? And although I was on my own and had to really squeeze in with others on benches/picnic tables outside, that wound up being so perfect because it made it easier to naturally join in on conversations with the folks around me. Everyone was super friendly. Met locals. Chatted it up with fellow travelers. Got to share snacks with folks who offered theirs up. Awesome atmosphere. Lots of fun. Fantastic experience and great memories. Even got a tshirt. Yep, it was all that cool. Almost forgot about the beer! I got a flight and each one was great!!
Busy shop with many types of beer. Surprisingly tasty, too, the fat snacks they serve. We also received a tour. Nice outing!
Most beers are < 3 and all are delicious. Friendly staff, 5 beer flights for 9, outdoor seating options and local bar food. Oh and it's in a windmill. If this review hasn't sold you, I'm disappointed.

Recommended 100% all the beers I loved, the cheese is delicious and the sausages are good. I recommend it for a quiet afternoon or to take before a night of clubs.

History.
The brewery is located in the existing building of the old mill, which you will not even find in Amster. Mills are generally a symbolic image, even an archetype in the culture of the Dutch, therefore they immerse them in the cultural and historical context without delay. By the way, the status of this institution is a museum.
Public.
Visitors are predominantly Dutch, despite the location and sign on all tourist routes. There are more chances to see and listen to the Dutch than in all museums of van Gogh, the flower market, etc. It is noisy, crowded and laid back. the inhabitants of this city are cultural people, because they are not afraid of conflicts
Beer.
It is very good. Cook on the spot. It is presented in a spectrum from light to dark. Ivin really came in. Please note that the glasses there are non-standard - 0.27-0.29 l. At the same time, the effect does not make you wait and wraps around, it feels like a glass of port wine in grade 9, so do not rush to lay heavily behind the collar). On the other hand, procrastination is also not an option - it closes around 8-9 pm.

If you want to visit a local brewery in Amsterdam, this is definitely a place which you should consider - from my point of view definitely better than the Heineken tour. The beers are very tasty, they offer different styles (pilsner, ipa, ale, witbier and more), so I m sure, everybody will find his own beer. As a bonus, brewery is located next to the mill - in case you would forget in which country you are:)) As this brewery is obviously pretty popular, it gets very busy, even on Sunday afternoon around 2:30 pm.

Not the same anymore. Was a place I would love to visit. Now it has completely lost its character, overloaded with tourists and expats, only a handful of visitors is still Dutch and the local Amsterdam brewery atmosphere is very far away. It is a great pity that another fantastic place has fallen victim to mass tourism. Nothing to the detriment of the delicious beers and the top location.

Visit it before you die. Iconic. It's a brewpub and the beer is magnificent. Staff are typically Dutch. Some like you, some hate you. Their loss.

The brewery is located inside an old mill, how cool is that? We went there to sample their craft beers and some starters. Beers were very good, we had a 5 beer sample selection and a plate of sausage and cheese to go with it. Price is ok for what you get and the beers were fantastic. The interior is nice and there are bottles of beer all over the walls like in a museum
Spending a quick weekend in Amsterdam, we had to make strategic choices on our destinations. So glad we chose Brouwerij 't IJ Brewery over Heineken.
Don't expect to get a seat after 6pm on a Friday, but do expect to be with the locals drinking good beer... under a windmill.
It is a disappointing place not to ask for a trial drinking set though it went to the time of opening a store. The beer is delicious. The snacks are pretty good too.
Most of the staff were happy & help full great selection of beers, I had a paddle to start then I had a great choice as the paddle was 1st 5 beers on menu . Nice cheese & sausage, nuts . Well worth a visit while in Amsterdam I will definitely be back on my next visit
Cool old school brewery in a windmill (is that a thing?!)! Good choice of beers, though some of the strong ones are a bit overrated, their IPA is excellent and quite fairly priced (though for a small glass which seems a shame). The food portions are small and the bar is quite crampt, but for a fun and trendy bar this place is great! It isn't open until late, so if you want to get a few rounds in then you need to come early!

One of my favorite places!, I dont give five stars because I think the quality of the service is sometimes is horrible... Is one of those places that even if they treat you really bad you come back cause is unique... I hope one day they will improve the attitude of the people in the bar.. I know is busy, but I saw other places in Amsterdam, smaller and busier but with quite good service.

The only thing we found worthwhile was that their beer v.d. tap is even tastier than from the bottle, the photo moment on the outside and that it was clean ... For a nice sit down I recommend a real pub. Besides beer, there is only apple juice, spa red and ginger ale to drink. There is a cheese / sausage with your drink if you want.

Place of obligatory stop in Amsterdam; It is not exactly cheap, but they have a great variety of beers and delicious tapas. The terrace when it's sunny is wonderful.
