Had a great day and made some even better memories.

We took a charter bus down for the day, so we had the entire day to devote to the zoo, and we saw nearly everything it had to offer! I believe we would have covered all of it's grounds if it hadn't begun to rain an hour before closing. If you're ever caught at the zoo during a downpour, be warned: they sell poncho's at the shops, but run out quickly and are $2.50 each. We gave up and made a break for our bus.

It's amazing to remember that a zoo this staggering in size with its wide variety of species in its beautifully crafted enclosures is right in the heart of the Bronx. I found myself taking pictures of the habitats just as much as the animals!

If you're on the fence about making the trip, go. But take the following into consideration (credit goes to Suk C. on Yelp):

1. Do not bring children under 6 years old.
2. Choose a cool dry day. Don't come during summer.
3. If you have to drive, plan to park your car in the area where you can take a short bus ride to the zoo. Do not use its parking lot. If you can help it, use public transportation.
4. Bring your own food and water. Foods in the zoo are not very good, very expensive and long wait on line.
5. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Needlessly to say, you need to walk miles.
6. Bring binoculars. Some of the animals stay far from spectators.
7. Be ready to have a good time!

Hands down, the best zoo I have ever visited. The only zoo I have ever been to that surpassed the Bronx Zoo was Disney's Animal Kingdom. I think too many locals take the Bronx Zoo for granted. The full-access admission is well worth the price. This zoo is definitely a multi-trip kind of place. You will not be able to fit even half of the sights and activities into one day.

Visiting Bronx Zoo with kids is always fun. Especially if you have membership or can afford total experience. It will grant you access to almost every park item (marked yellow on the current map) and you don't have to wait in line.

Nice Zoo, but Not Enough Outdoor Space for these animals living in exile! Rhino den is approximately 50 feet long and 30 feet deep for 2 rhinos .... these animals need the open plains to run! It's a very clean zoo, but bathrooms need to be kept up with supplies! The food is very good, but the prices will set you back a bit $11.99 for a double hamburger & order of French fries! $4.25 for a small scoop of ice cream on a cone. Pricing, It's all good to pay for Animal Upkeep and Staff Salaries!

Excellent experience with lots of different animals and Wednesday is free so really a great day to go then. I went on a Sunday and paid for the total Experience tickets to see every exhibit and it was well well worth it got my money back within two visits between me and my wife and they also have this unlimited refill drug that's only $9 it's not only a souvenir but also a great way to stay hydrated while you're doing so much walking. It was beautiful and so refreshing my two-year-old son absolutely loved all the animals and fish it was a lot of walking and thank God we borrow a stroller you must bring a stroller if you have any type of Age kid cuz it's a lot of walking with so much to see. The food over there is a little pricey so bring your own you're allowed

This is my favorite place in NYC. The animals are well cared for, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The zoo was very clean, and they are taking Covid-19 very seriously. Highly recommended

Bronx Zoo has so many animals we were so surprised. Went with my family and our favorites were the bird sanctuary, lions, gorillas and seal lions. This zoo sure does make you feel as if you are in a safari .

If you go on Wednesday, admission is free! Love all the exhibits inside the zoo, plenty to see. There is a monorail in the back as well for $5 a person that takes you around additional exhibits.

We had the best time , all the animals were out and about, the BEST TIME TO GO TO BRONX ZOO is in April nooooo crowds. We were able to do the whole park in piece and see everything without someone blocking our view or pushing us aside. Great day!

Loved going to this zoo! Plenty of parking! If you have a military CAC card you get in free the ticket is free and children 2 and under are also free! So it was in expensive for us to visit. Food is pricey so I recommend bringing your own, which is allowed. The Zoo is now no longer offering plastic lids and straws, however they offer a large (with lid and straw) decorative collectible cup for about 10 dollars. The cup allows you free refills! Which is a great effort to decrease plastics and harm to marine life. This zoo is huuuge! There is a tram and some exhibits (gorilla exhibit) do not allow strollers but there are areas to park the strollers. I highly recommend!

Nice day escape but expensive. $39 for adults. There may be a cheaper pass but they don't show on the website.
Gorilla exhibit was interesting, you can watch through the glass as they play, fight and hang out. Come on a weekday to avoid lines.

I love the Bronx Zoo attractions for kids. I love the animals I was able to see. But what I didn't like Being that I'm a new mom and I hadn't been myself before this day. I was just excited as my child and nephew. There is no one to help you. To find someone you have to turn from where your walking to find someone in a green shirt to help you. I hated that cause it killed time in this oh so big zoo. So that was hated but zoo was awesome. (I must say when a worker was found they were really help full).

One of the greatest zoos in the entire world and completely worth of that title. The exhibits are outstanding and the animals are well cared for. Staff has always been very courteous in all the years ive been there. From interactive exhibits, to rides, and premium side shows (butterfly garden, tiger mountain, children's (petting zoo)), there's something for everyone.
Pack comfortable shoes, bring a stroller, and carpool...parking can quickly get expensive ($17 a car as of writing this) and the annual pass covers a lot. Totally worth it .

Oh! And be nice to the tame peacocks running around the zoo!

We took the train from CT and got off in the Bronx then took a bus to the zoo. You will want to buy the experience package as the butterfly garden, 4d movie, monorail, train etc are all additional fees. If your going twice and a family of 4 it's cheaper to buy the yearly membership. The 4d movie was not worth the 45 min wait in my opinion. For a zoo in the middle of a city it was nice.

I got to share my grandsons birthday with him, his Mom and friend! So much too see! I'm a photographer and I took lots of pictures! It was free to get in that day but I wasn't aware that some exhibits were $6 to get in unless you paid the $14 for the package to see all. I'll know next time. Sad to hear of the snow leopard, RIP and wasn't able to see the tiger but the rest was fabulous! The grounds were clean and tidy! The staff was very friendly and always someone to ask a question! thank you for the fabulous memory!

It has potential. I wouldn't recommend going if you are handicapped ( cant walk) . when we arrived we paid for our parking and asked where the handicap spots were. were told where they were but they had ALL of the spots blocked off. We were told they were being worked on ( they had tables and tents set up there). To get to the zoo entrance we had to walk up a hill. We asked if we could rent 2 scooters since we had members with us that could not walk, we were told they don't have them at this gate you have to walk to this section. the section we had to walk to was about 2 miles up a hill. the map said they were supposed to have them at every entrance. the zoo is not organized at all. when we got the scooters they did not tell us anything about when and where to bring them back and you don't get any money back for returning them. when we were leaving we got stopped at our gate trying to tell us we had to take them back to where we got them from which they were closing in 10 minutes. we decided to just get off the scooters and walk the rest of the way. they didn't like the fact we left them there with them. and to our surprise the handicapped spots were still blocked off but they had lines of people waiting in that area for something else. they do not care if you are handicapped at all.. the zoo is big but not a lot of animals to see plus if you wanted to see all the animals you had to pay extra ( tigers, asia monorail, elephants, and the children zoo)

More than half the exhibits were closed. Under some kind of construction. What we did get to see was cool but wish they would tell you before you pay to go in that they have quite a few closed exhibits

Free Wednesdays = a lot of people. $17 Parking. No shuttles are available on free Wednesdays and a few things like the Jungle World monorail was closed. Seperate experiences can increase the cost of this visit but it's a great zoo for kids. I hope the animals feel the same way.

It's a very beautiful and well maintained zoo. The animal appear to be treated with good care. There are toilets and tap water every here and there.
It could be better if there wasn't differences in the entrance tickets. The general admission doesn't allow access to the butterfly gardens, gorilla's den among others. The full experience would cost $17,00 more.
But it's a very nice place to go at a walking distance from the subway station.

Congo closed, madagascar closed, jungle world closed, butterfly pavilion closed. So why did i pay for the total experience if its not even available. They should be selling just the base ticket for 25 not up charging people to pay a higher price...

I have never been so impressed with a zoo. This place will knock your socks off. You forget you are actually at the zoo. The enclosures are so real. You can tell that the staff really care for these animals. Additionally, everyone there are very kind and helpful, always smiling and never rude. The only down side, is the food is rather expensive for what you get. But hey.. it's the zoo. Go have fun!! I will be returning again and again, even though it's a 3 1/2 hour bus trip.

We took a group of young couples from our church and it was a nice time! Not as many animals as thought would see but it was a really warm day and good fellowship! Got 10% off when purchased online tickets, overall a great experience and will be returning again. I heard the zoo is free on Wednesday s so definitely will come back for the freebies! Thank you Bronx Zoo!
