Very impressed at how clean this place is. Love to see the animals have beautiful enclosures and you are actually very close to a lot of them. Slightly disappointed that there were not any chameleons in reptile house, and the tigers were no where to be found. We also wish it stayed open a little later. It took us about 2 hours to get here (lots of traffic) & its difficult to see all of the exhibits in 4.5 hours, especially if you need to stop & eat. We were happy to visit here, since we loved the show on Animal Planet

Obviously some really fascinating wildlife, but also an incredibly knowledgeable staff and the zoo is super clean! Had a great time and the maps are really easy. Fun $5 masks for sale too!

Website said the Congo Gorilla Forest was free through March, and we visited on March 31, but we had to buy the more expensive ticket in order to see it. In spite of the extra expense, several animals were not available because it was still too chilly for them. The one polar bear they had previously had to be euthanized, and they are not planning on getting another one. Most of the animals we saw were smaller than we've seen at other zoos. It was a pleasant day, just not what we would call a 5-star zoo.

A little too hot none of the animals were active except for the sea lions and gorillas at feeding time which was pretty cool
Didn't see any of the big cats as they were sprawled out trying to stay cool
Monorail was a break from walking and the heat

Super spectacular place

Very important:

Buy your tickets in advance and print it, this will avoid a lot of troubles.

Highly recommended.

One of my favorite zoos -- so many exhibits and great variety of animals. Definitely plan to set aside 4-5 hours to really enjoy everything and learn at a leisurely pace. Great for adults and kids alike.

Beautiful zoo. Its huge and you probably wont be able to see everything in one day. I suggest you plan ahead of time and know where you want to go. If u want to see a specific animal being fed definitely plan ahead and be there earlier then it starts. If im not mistaken its free to visit on wednesdays but be prepared for a huge crowd

Not clean at all and u will get lost besides most of the animals will not be their , I wouldn t recommended at all and it s not worth the ticket price and life on stroller don t get to see most of the stuff due to the high fences

Animals seem healthy and well cared for. Expensive for just one visit but a good value if you become a member and visit a few times a year. There are many exhibits so plan on spending several hours here. Food at the food court is better than expected.

I hated it. To much walking and not enough animals. Its like going on a nature walk and paying way to much money for it. Also, the food lines are short but we waited for 20 minutes to order. The workers were all walking and talking. The trolley took thirty minutes, but then the next one took five. Overall there is no sense of urgency, very little efficiency, and not orderly. I would suggest going to the central park zoo instead, it may be smaller, but it is a lot more efficient.

If you have to use the bathroom go to the first bathrooms you see because the rest are really far. I would suggest taking the shuttle to the opposite side of the park. This way you can work your way back going towards your starting point. They have strollers, double strollers and motorized chairs for rent. If you're not crazy about fried fast food bring your own meal. There's at least 4 places to eat on the zoo grounds. Funnel cake is in Asia not too far from the camel ride. Please buy the the total experience tickets other wise you can't do the best things like the monorail, children's zoo, bug carousel, dinosaur safari or the Gorilla congo. If you get the regular priced tickets you will have to pay extra at these sights. If you're interested there is a ziplining course called Tree Tops on the premises as well. Save the Dino safari for last the line is usually 1 hour plus wait. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. My feet were dying in my flip flops. Although you can find lots of shade behind the large trees be sure to bring water, sunscreen and maybe a hat.

I absolutely love the Bronx zoo. However, I have felt that recently there have been several issues with the park. On the day my group was there the exhibit we were riding broke down which was not ideal. The food has also degraded in quality recently. And finally, the student discount you can get is apparently only available for college students and not for high schoolers which is absurd. Yet, besides these small gripes the Bronx zoo is an excellent place to spend an afternoon.

I love the Zoo! On this visit I brought my daughter's friend and her children for a relaxing afternoon. We live nearby so no pressure to see everything in one day which I think can ruin it for many people as their children get tired and cranky going from exhibit to exhibit. The Zoo is a Massive place with SO much to see and experience that I highly recommend going at least a few times in season. At the very least, make a plan to gently stroll around or decide which animals or exhibits you really want to see and spend the majority of your time truly enjoying those locations. We stopped in the Children's Zoo for a while and afterward they wanted to stay around the large rhino sculptures outside Zoo Center and play which was relaxing. Then a face painting for the four year old then home for dinner. Easy and pleasant afternoon.
Did I mention how much I love the zoo?

Great zoo, wish it wasn't raining when i visited, but can't control that. I heard that in the summer the animals enjoy the rain, but it was cold and rainy on my trip.
Be sure to say go to the sea lions! They have a lot of personality. The big tigers were friendly too

The zoo is set up in regions so you get to travel around the world without leaving the city. The Lions are a great display which I enjoyed and the tiger house is soo fun. One of the coolest things is the peacocks. They walk right up to you!

Not just a simple zoo...it's a huge green park with old artistic animal-themed buildings. Nice environment especially on a light Monday. The animals are quite active and seem enjoy where they stay. Definitely hours of fun.

This place is magical! My family visited the zoo after attending the Yankee game the day before and it was well worth our time so much to see and do. We watch the t.v.show and that helped us make the decision to come to the zoo. The exhibits are first class and the staff very knowledgeable helpful and pleasant. We can't wait to come back and see more . Be prepared to spend A lot of time here as it is well worth it.

Old time fun. Madagascar, sea lion feeding, Children's Zoo, Jungleworld, Birds of Prey, Bug Carousel, and Wild Asia monorail are classics and our family favorites. Nine-day-old sea lion, flock of baby peacocks, and baby prairie dogs were early summer surprises.

The zoo is really in need of funding or something. I think it s just poorly run staff. So much of the zoo is in need of cleaning and many of the animals aren t even there when you get there. The food choices are scary and super expensive for what it is. And then they want you to donate more money for overly priced items. First lunch was $97 and change and they want you to round up. I had to buy a recyclable bag for almost $4.00 and they wanted to round up. Then we purchased two cokes and it was $9.36 and she asked if I wanted to round up for money for museum. I think you already rounded up! I mean it s not horrible, but they have serious room for improvement.

Had a fantastic experience visiting and seeing all the love and care and conservation of the animals at the Zoo. The employees and caretakers and trainers were so polite and courteous. Can't wait to return. So enjoy your show too.

I've been to better zoos. Understandably, we visited in the winter, but the ticket prices did not reflect the lack of animals and activities. We basically got to seesomr fish, snakes, birds, lemurs, and sea lions. All the other animals were basically not visible becauze they were in a back room keeping warm snd the zoo is apparently only designed for the other 3 seasons. If that is the case then the admission price should be like $5 which mihht draw a better crowd and not upset those that are visiting from abroad. Why is it even open in the winter?

I've always loved the Bronx Zoo and though this time was different due to Coronavirus it was still a fun and pleasant visit. I went for my annual Boo At The Zoo visit. The Zoo was decorated for Halloween and even though people were wearing masks and social dust it was fun to see folks and children dressed up in their costumes. I missed the traditional hay maze, this year it was really just a pumpkin patch walk, but it was decorated beautifully. The kiddos still got candy, however it was only in one central location this year. I have to say this was my third trip to the Zoo since its reopened and the zoo has made sure there is hand sanitizer at the entry and exit of most of it's exhibits and they maintain social distancing rules. There were short lines to get into Madagascar, Reptile House and Jungle World. The lines for the Gorillas was way to long for me and as usual there was a line for the carousel. I didn't mind that line. They skipped a row between riders and wipes down each bug that was used. I didn't see anyone wiping down tables outside Dancing Crane Cafe, but I always walk with my one wipes and wipes down my shared table. All in all it was a fun outing.

The Bronx Zoo will challenge everything you though...

The Bronx Zoo will challenge everything you thought you knew about nature, as this highly unnatural edifice enacts artificial environments for species supposed to be spread across the globe. While the animals you ll witness here are as amazing as they are various, the living organisms inhabiting these illusory biospheres are observably unhappily conducting their everyday lives. While this Zoo is outstanding for human entertainment, it s questionable whether it s possible to cultivate joy in a living being while simultaneously restricting freedom.

The zoo offers special and programs to make it a memorable time for all visitors of any age. I give the zoo only 4 starts because I have a bit of an ethical problem with zoos because of the cages, but this zoo does a tremendous amount of work to fight that and address the needs of endangered species. You can also get free or discounted attendance at many other zoos and programs if you get a membership pass to the Bronx Zoo. Check your local libraries, too because some of them have passes for discounts to the Bronx Zoo.

It was an amazing experience. There were variety of animals, birds etc. The Wild Asia mono rail is a must do thing. However, the wait for dinosaur safari was ridiculously crazy for a 2 min thing.

There are places that need more care ..maintenance..the animals are nice...but there are empty locations without the animals
But the experience was nice and relax

If you have kids and you live in NYC, shame on you if you haven't (or don't intend to in the near future) taken them to the Bronx Zoo. There is so much to do and see. If you have a large family (say 3 kids) buy the membership as paying for individual tickets for 1 visit will cost only a few dollars less. This is what my hubby and I did when we visited with our son, niece and nephew. Instead of paying for 1 visit for all 5 of us, we paid a little extra money to buy a 1 year membership. And it was more than worth it. A membership at the Bronx Zoo allows you free entrance year round to not only the Bronx Zoo, but the Central Park Zoo and the Aquarium in Brooklyn at Coney Island! You also get a nice t-shirt and a few other perks.

It's a good zoo, not as great as everyone makes it out to be. It's too big with everything spread too far apart and it's in a horrible location. Getting there and back is a nightmare. It also costs a FORTUNE. TurtleBack Zoo is definitely better.

The Bronx Zoo is about as good as zoos get. You won t run out of things to do to keep occupied here with the large size of the zoo and the sheer number of animals and exhibits. Without the add-ons, you ll still find plenty to do, but the monorail and jungle exhibits are worth the extra cost. Check online especially during the late fall what exhibits and animals aren t around as the Gorilla exhibit in October only had one ape around. The animals here are quite active though so you ll see more of interest than the typical hiding or sleeping animals. It s a great place to spend a day with kids or families. Wear comfortable walking shoes as there is a lot of ground to cover. Food and drink are quite pricey inside so bring snacks.

The animals seemed playful and happy. That's important when you consider the conditions. The staff are all very friendly and helpful as well. The Zoo was huge and I could imagine taking a few trips to really enjoy it. The gorilla is a Star Attraction and therefore and extra $6 for non-members, but worth every penny. He really puts on a show.

One of the great Zoos in the country but I actually prefer the Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut. The new Dinosaur Safari ride was really cool but besides that I'd much rather go to Beardsley. Easier parking, cheaper, the animals seem happier, and there are more staff members walking around answering questions and demonstrating exhibits.

I love the zoo but it seems as if the animals are always sleeping, on Wednesdays that is. This time when I went with a friend the animals were just not moving I joked and said they were fake however; it really seemed that way. Either that or they sleep all day. The most interesting animal on this day was the peacock which was roaming around.

We went on Wednesday where the basic admission was free. Found the cafeteria was quite overpriced, so bring a packed lunch. Exhibitions were good, but we went too early in the season since some of the more interesting ones didn't open till may.

Love the zoo . Great place fir family and friends to spend a day or a couple hours or even just an extended lunch break . It's a little hard for everyone still and the zoo is no exception. They take great care to protect the animals the patrons and the staff.ive been a member fir over 20 years and part of the Convience of the membership to me is being able to drop and go whenever I want and that is the biggest hardship to me right now . However most of the time it's a planned trip and I just try and plan as many as I can now . We have to support the people and places we love now more than ever.

There is no way to see everything in one go. It's a big zoo, and it has so many animals! It's hard to find parking, so get there early. We came on a pretty hot day during covid-19, which was miserable. It should be nice on a cooler day, though. Children have lots of fun, and so do adults.
