Its one of the great zoos we have visited. Its reasonably big with lot of animals. Great place to spend a day with kids. Conservation efforts by WCS makes this even more special.

It's an incredible place, especially since it's in the middle of the Bronx, after a bit you forget you are in the middle of such a big city. My absolute favorite is the Gorilla exhibit, be sure to see it!

You have to be there early literally just as the doors open otherwise it gets packed unless you don't mind dealing with ppls attitudes as the lines get big and obviously waiting time tends to add more stress at certain ppl.

I always love going to this zoo. Never get to go often, but it's always very clean, and the staff are friendly. Not all of the animals are were out because of the heat which upset a lot of people, but I prefer that because, that shows me they care more about their animals which they should. It's their home. I will always support and go to a zoo that always put their animals first. People are second. :) pack your own lunch though so you can afford a snack or gift haha

i have been here 40 times before and loved it. paid 28 dollars a head to see sign after sign saying the animals don't like it cold weather. today is 50 degrees and they charge full price to look at empty cages???? really a rip off.

The zoo lights were incredibly underwhelming and very overpriced for entrance. It felt as if it were put together very last minute without much thought and effort. Very lazy attempt. I ve been to other zoo lights in other cities that blow this one away. Very disappointing.

Never again. I'll pay anything at a zoo if I know it goes to good animal Care. This zoo has gone down hill. Anger inducing conditions for innocent animals. 7 giraffes in a pen no bigger than a McDonald's play room? Horrifying. How is this zoo of horrors still in business and yet Barnum's circus is shut down?!

The monkey and gorilla stuff was closed. A bunch if things you have to pay extra for. Food is expensive. And the poor polar bear was trying to get out of the year and they had him locked out

If you like Sea Lions, Lemurs, and Reptiles then this is a good zoo for you, just about every other animal was either sleeping or no where to be found. They also have about 20 animals you can only see if you pay $7 for the exhibit! Enjoyed the day with my girlfriend, but definitely not a zoo we would want to see again for the price of admission.

Had a great time at the zoo!! There s so many different animals and species to see. The park is huge, it would definitely take an entire day, perhaps even another trip, to see it all. There are also educational signs and videos around, it was nice to learn about and see how the zoo is working to conserve wildlife, and not just putting the animals on display.

It was an amazing experience. Took my family out and we had a blast. Seeing all the different animals. Although some of the exhibits were closed. We enjoyed it especially seeing peacocks everywhere we went and the giraffes. Overall it was a great day and we had fun.

The best zoo I've ever been too. Mid May was a great time to go. Not too crowded and not too hot so the animals were really active. It's worth it to get the full experience if you're going to make the trip.

They took out the skyfari and the world of darkness. There were no elephants. If it rains, there is not too many places for shelter. But overall, it is a nice zoo...a bit expensive, but nice.

The place is wonderful, has many recreational areas, very clean charm, my family and I had fun, as far as the food on terrace cafe was really disgusting !!! I Buy a hamburger for almost 17 dollars the lettuce was black the tomato did not look fresh and the meat really horrendous with a really disgusting taste! ! We ended up throwing away 17 dollars because we did not even eat it after the first bite! I recommend bringing your own lunch!

They say you forget you're in the middle of a city here, but I don't. I spend every second in awe at how incredible it is for such a thing to be part of a city. This is probably the greatest zoo on Earth.

Impressive zoo in NYC. The gorilla exhibit was the highlight for us. Can get very crowded as everywhere else in the city. We had very high expectations for the butterfly garden and didn't see many butterflies. Disappointing! Overall great all day activity with the kids. I would suggest getting there early and start from the back of the zoo. Also bring your own food because the cafes are all blah. But hey, they have beer!!!

One of the best zoos in the world! The variety of animals they have here is amazing! Although some animals are difficult to spot, but the experience is worth it! You will have to spend an entire day if you want to really see the whole zoo. You can see the zoo for free on Wednesdays, except the special exhibits like Congo Gorilla forest and the Asian Trail. Most of the birds are in open enclosures, some may even fly over your head !

Lots of animals here, but the exhibits look to be in kinda sad shape, not clean and nice like other zoos. Some were ok, and the grounds are nice, but you feel bad for some of the animals when the cages are dirty and unmaintained

I usually don't go to circuses and zoo's because I do not believe in taking animals out of their natural habitat and putting them behind bars! However, the animals here seemed to be happy, free, well cared for and no bars! I've never took my daughter (my only child) to the circus or zoo. Only to petting zoo's on farms! Now my daughter and my 19 mo. Old grandson took me to the Bronx zoo and I must say I enjoyed it immensely! Look forward to returning soon. She bought the family package. Did not see half of the animals because they were closing. So next time we will leave earlier to see everything:)

It's become more of a conservation society then a zoo. You have to look real hard to find an animal in a cage, which is a fantastic thing as far as I'm concerned. Wednesday's are free but watch out for camps and school kids, they control these parks. Strollers and families haven't got a chance.

The zoo is amazing for an assortment of animals, but nothing can be perfect. This zoo has proven the theory of evolution because the people here are acting like animals, the primitive humans are extremely aggressive and have no manors. A large woman was in the Male restroom, which is just one of the many things that prove humans will regress if law and order are not set. The zoo is too chaotic and people forget that they are supposed to be civilized and should not be acting like animals. I guess animals make us forget how to be human. Need to get some control and order, but their exhibits and layout are awesome. They do charge for premium animals so it might be run by EA games.

We went for "boo at the zoo" and it was awesome. Games. Food. Parade. Live music. My son and I absolutely love the "make your own Smores" bar. We got so caught up in the activities we didn't even get to see much of the actual zoo. Must go again.

Awesome experience. Large zoo. World class exhibits and beautiful architecture. We frequently visit this zoo and have watched the animals get fed including sea lions and alligators. Great for kids and adults and hard, if not impossible, to do in one day.

Great zoo, food/drinks aren't overpriced, plus they're a part of some environmental thing so they don't use plastic straws or lids. Went on Wednesday, when it's pay your price tickets, and it was crazy packed! Lots of kids and the walk-in line was long. But still got to see plenty animals. Really enjoyed

i love animals, this place is more of the wonderland similar to my native africa zoo.
also its the best place to visit with familly and friends. the variety of animals there in such a labyrinth show the beauty of species living in harmony.
i truely recommend anyone visiting the big apple to go there.

This zoo was amazing! It is huge and took my husband and I 4 hours to get through. I would 100% recommend the all inclusive tickets to make sure you can access everything. The animal enclosures were big and looked like the comfort of the animals was put first. This meant that sometimes we had to search for the animals, but it made it more fun. I found the price very reasonable and would recommend a good pair of sneakers. I found the small mammal house to be the most fun. There were a lot of animals at this zoo that I have not seen at other places.

We love the zoo however our recent trip was bit of a dissapointment. The animals in the petting zoo looked very sad. The Zebu was in the wrong area. The worse part was walking past the children's play area, Naturetrec, hearing music so obnoxiously loud with cursing in it. It was outside the zoo so it could not be controlled. It just amazes me how rude some people could be. Overall we had a great time but I hope we'll have a better experience next time we go.

Disappointing monorail ride second year in a row with hardly any animals to see. There were few animals to see throughout the entire zoo. You would think there would be many great views of several animals but not the case.

Great place to take the family for the day. The children can see the animals that they are Accustomed to only seeing on TV. There is food and drink and ok parking. The place is mostly clean and it appears to be safe enough. But you need to keep your head on right, at all times and don't take any on nesseary risk. Nobody needs another story and a tragic totally avoidable situation.

We love the zoo! We have a membership which is totally worth it if you are going to visit more than one in a year. We went today on November 15th and a bunch of animals weren't out for viewing. Not sure if it was our timing or the season. They were setting up for the holiday lights which looked very cool.

Was very little amount of people , animals were not available, I think they are holding them for regular days even though I paid15 entrance which was not worth since only thing visible was the train ride for 2 stops only.i advice if u go on wednesdays take advantage for free entrance n donate if u want

Four and a half stars!

The only thing is the weather, the zoo must post a notice when they plan to move the animals into indoors exhibit, one will not waste time wandering around the zoo looking for the animals.

The safety protocols are good to keep the place up and running.

The Holiday Night Lights here was exciting for my 4 year old son. He loved the big Christmas tree eith the sound and animal lights, and couldn't leave without promise of treats (which ended up being hot chocolate.. spiked eggnog for me).

With limited entry, the parking was easy and not crowded at all. With all the lights and figurines it would be a great date course too.

It's awesome in summer, but a little too crowded. Go see the gorillas in their summer exhibit! Enjoy the children's zoo... In winter it's completely different, it feels like only half of the animals are on exhibit, so skip the African part, but enjoy the solitude while strolling around the snow leopards, sea lions, the nature climb or the jungle house

A bit expensive for not having all the animals out. We paid for 3 full price $130.00 then paid a separate parking $20.00, which was so far from the actual park. We actually waited for a shuttle that apparently employee stated would come and never showed up. As you can see the day wasn t all that....
