So big. 4 Stars due to confusion and lack of Employee assistance. Animals are great and there is always more to do then time to do it.

Children's zoo was amazing. Worth to get the Total Exprience tickets.
Exciting it has truly been a while since I last visited
It was great! But sad to see the eagle was way to big for that little cage no .
This place is the real deal, lots of exhibits and a family friendly place. They have their own secured parking lot so you don t have to deal with searching for parking garages, street parking, or local vandalism. It s very big place so wear sneakers and prepare to stand on your feet all day.
Just don't go there when it's really hot and prepare to walk a super long distance. Overall, fun place for families and kids.
Huge place, family oriented, clean area. Bring your walking shoes. If it's hot bring your water. But there's refreshment stand. You can buys drink with refill. Bring baby stroller lots of walk.
Very good day trip :) kids love it of course but what is pity that animals sometime can be so far that you can t see them
Went early Wednesday for my wife and daughter but there weren't alot of animals out and I feel they need more attractions or new ones
I've been going to the Bronx zoo since I was a little boy and it's gotten better throughout the year's . It's free on Wednesday's.
If you were to ask me how good this was and I said pretty good and you asked me on a scale from one to ten and I said 11 and you said cool, I would say pretty good.
The best time to go is in the July and August when all the animals are out.
We may have everything in NYC but In-N-Out and the San Diego Zoo, but I consider this Zoo the San Diego Zoo of the West Coast.
It's a huge zoo and there's something for every age group. Definitely worth a day trip but start early and wear your sneakers!
Very well staffed and organized. Beautiful display. Thanks.
It was a cold rainy day, so none of the animals were out. Which is fine of course and you cant control wild animals and they want to be warm and dry. The only problem was the zoo decided to run on a skeleton crew and close everything, which they of course neglect to mention when you are buying tickets at the gate. So you get the full experience tickets which they encourage only to find out most of the stuff you paid extra for is closed. Yay it helps the animals, which is great, but at least inform people at the gate that 90% of the shops exhibits and attractions are closed. Maybe offer a discounted rainy day price. Even the staff looked bored.
Calming, tiger and lion visible. animals looked bored with visitors. Many animals missing though. Still pleasant, not too crowded.
One of the best zoos that I have visited for the moment with the largest variety of animals that I have seen for the moment.
A lot of different types of animals like bears, gorillas, tigers, lions, rhinos, ostriches, tortoises, penguins, other types of monkeys, butterflies, lots of birds, fishes and plenty more of animals.
The spaces are really big so you can walk with no problems and also for the handicap it is going to be better.
You will have a lot of options to eat for sure at lunch time.
The zoo is kind of big so be prepared to have a good walk taking all the time that you want and need to see the most of the animals that you can see.
You can be really close in some time to the turtles so you maybe will have the chance to pet them a little bit.
Awesome place. Congratulations for what this zoo have done.
Not bad, but who really would expect a zoo to be very good in New York?
Great zoo in a beautiful park setting.
I'm not a fan of zoos but all the animals are clearly well fed and cared for however I did notice a couple of animals pacing up and down in boredom (the Aardvark was one).
My tip is go early, this zoo can easily take a whole day, we didn't get there til 12.30 and we were racing round to see everything before closing at 5.30.
Food & drink fairly expensive but I've seen worse.
Staff super friendly and helpful.
We went early November and it was quiet.
Great zoo! So big. Only downside is the cost. Very pricy.
Great place to take the kids. Make sure you hop on the monorail. My baby girl loved it.
The weather was perfect, didn't really need sunglasses. This time we went just for the Dino Safari Adventure and the little one loved it. Of course, we can never leave without seeing the giraffes, the bison, etc. We dare not leave without a ride on the Bug Carousel. We got there after 11 am so we didn't get to ride the Monorail, the little one wasn't to disappointed. The BX Zoo remains relevant for all ages.
I just LOVE this place. Everyone must come and enjoy a day at the ZOO "dont do the free day wenesday because they dont have all the animals out" but thursdays it's always a wonderful day to go. Lines are short and you will be able to completely enjoy your self's.. I totally believe I had alot more fun than the kids and they had a fabulous time.
Lots to see. Wednesdays are by donation so it was affordable.
Great place for all ages!!! Animals are well taken care of, and the exhibits are diverse and interactive! It is worth checking the daily schedule for activities such as special feedings or other events. Also, if you're a local, I highly recommend the WCS membership that includes other NYC zoos and the aquarium!
Great zoo a lil pricey but worth it. Worst part is it closes at 5 :(
Went to the zip line and tree course! Had so much fun! Great place to go with the whole family!
I had not been to the Bronx Zoo in decades! I had a blast! And if you're a senior citizens and have a mobility cart, look out fun cuz here I come! Great time spender/killer. Kids will love it. Nice friendly atmosphere.
I always enjoy going back to the Bronx Zoo. The animals are well taken care of. If you don't rush through it. You like taking pictures Congo see silverback gorillas. Tiger Mountain in the early morning. Rhinos are outside. The zookeeper's have feedings all the time on the weekend during the summer.
Very nice place. Can be a little complicated to get around with a map, but you'll figure it out. All the attractions were good except the Mitsubushi Riverwalk, which is literally nothing. The Treetop Adventure is a separate attraction that costs $60 which we didn't know when we went, so bring some money! Bathrooms were pretty small, could only accommodate about 6-8 men. Overall, a fun experience. Nice to walk around but it can get very hot in the summer. Bring your own refillable water bottle cause a bottle costs $4. Food is not too overpriced Will go again!
Holiday lights on bloom was great makes up for the lack of animals this time of year
When I lived in Flushing queens I used to go to the Bronx all summer and early fall still love it and admire it.
Love going there on Wednesday its free im a day care provider i like to take the kids there its a very good experience for them the zoo is very nice
It was my first time at the zoo. I was really impressed. A few of the attractions weren't open, because it was early in the season. We will have to go back!
Very well done! Parking was packed at the siuthern Blvd. and the Bronx River entrances but excellent organization kept the traffic moving. A lot of work went into this, and it is worth seeing. The only thing that needs improvement is well lit signage for exiting to the parking lots. There was nothing we could see that said which way to go. The regular Zoo -related signs , if important for designating exits, should have spot lights on them because it's hard to read in the dark.
Had a great Sunday with the granddaughter and get friend at the zoo.
Great place for a family outing, picnic, view the animals or ride the shuttle.
I love this place. Always come here with nice experience.
Bronx Zoo , we had Amazing experience with my family.! Huge Zoo , we have to come back one more time to go to other exhibits . :))
Highly Recommend
My family and I have been going here since we were kids. The zoo has a ton of animals and loads of activities and awesome gift shops! However the staff at the food stations need to be more professional.
Best to check out the exhibits when it's feeding time and Wednesdays are free admissions.
The jewel in the WCS zoos in NY. We are members and go all the time but are constantly seeing new things. Lots of variety in food and drinks. Great beer options around now too.
You can be cheap here and bring your own snacks etc or you can burn through a lot of money if you go hungry and thirsty with kids.
Its so expansive plan out where you are going first thing or otherwise youll waste a lot of time back tracking.
Always lots of free events and activities for kids so keep and eye out or go to the zoo center to check.
It was a pleasant experience... I paid for me and my 2 little girls..i wanted the total experience so my ticket was more than the general admission..which including access to the most of the attractions and shows it felt like a little safari adventure... My daughter's eyes lit up with joy that made the whole experience worth it
..some drawbacks
Strollers everywhere! some of the families were rude it felt like a free for all when it came down to joining the lines to get in to all the places we had access to... All in all the staff were friendly I'd recommend the Bronx zoo to my family and friends
Enjoyed it alot. If you have a young child bring a stroller or rent 1 but be aware they do run out on busy days. Only reason they don't get 5stars is because we wasted alot of time waiting for the train to Asia for a stroller If they say they don't have any available always check Asia as I was told by 1 worker. After I got a stroller had Soo much fun . I'm a Dad of 3 all the kids enjoyed themselves after we got the stroller for my youngest.
It's has alot of animals and little kids and adults can learn about the animals
Really great enclosures. In November there's nothing really open though.
It's beautiful ,well maintained zoo for all age groups
The saddest place in the world. Poor animals that have to endure such pain. Do your kids a favor Avoid the place, at least until 14yo
Its a very good zoo, they do a great deal of conservation behind the scenes and the animals receive better healthcare than most people.
The Bronx zoo was very nice, lots of walking. It's a bit expensive. 1 ticket cost $36 and change. They have live music hip hop on Friday and Saturdays from 11a to 12p N 1p - 2p. All the Old School Hip Hop It's just for the summer. It's party time you will enjoy yourself. Just make sure that you wear comfortable shoes. Bring your owe bottle of water cause the water there cause $4.99. Rest rooms you have to look for them.
What can one say about the Bronx zoo, other that thru out the years it gets better for all to enjoy, something different.
Loved it! We got there right at 10AM (Sun) when it opened and it wasn't crowded. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Monorail was enjoyable, you get to see a lot. The elephants were my favorite! Even as you walk around you really get to see so many animals up close, it was awesome. Be prepared to walk a LOT!
The staff was constantly cleaning and telling people to pull their masks up, i.e., we felt safe. In general people were good about social distancing, tho it did get a little hairy in the baboon exhibit, where people were crowded together to get an up close glimpse. By 1PM when we were headed out due to the heat and a cranky toddler it had gotten insanely crowded. Would def recommend going early!
great place 40 dollars to do everything is untouchable for a day. love it!!!
This is an amazing zoo but it has a bad history... in 1906 they enclosed an African male to show the progression of the human race this male was then released when the enclosure was taken down but he then killed himself at the age of 32 by shooting himself with a stolen gun.
Largest zoo on the east coast. Prepare to do a lot of walking. Animals from all over the world separated by continents. A beautiful jungle and birds of paradise. I love it
Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo; A truly magical and one of a kind experience. See animals of all walks of life birds, lions, Gorillas come to life with the beauty of lights and beautifully created habitats.
A must see for all folks but especially children. No
The Bronx Zoo is a huge Zoo 4000 Acres a huge sort and varieties of the animal takes more than one day to get around the whole park huge parking lot in case you drives and easy public transportation to the zoo lots of food different varieties and alcoholic beverages of your choice there's mostly not sure about straight alcohol I enjoyed my visit at the Bronx Zoo
Great experience for my 1st time, had the chance to go every exhibition that they had that day. I recommend it to anyone who is an animal lover.
I like it. The fam loves it. Just don't feed the roaming peacocks!
The best place on earth! Come often and stay all day.
All of the animals were adorable. We watched the sea lion feeding. I just wished the maps where a bit more detailed.
Great place to enjoy with the family even in winter. Do not forget that one in a while on wednesday the entrance is free. So before you pay ask if is it a free wednesday entrance o wednesday of voluntary admition.
it's awesome but no spoilers you have ti see it for yourself.
Always love this zoo...I use to come as a child, I use to come with my now 20yr son and this was the first time my 4yr daughter came...she loved it. My only issue is it needs renovation, some of the enclosure need to be bigger these are the same from 20 years ago.
This is the perfect place for children of all ages. The "quests" throughout the park were of particular attention to my two 10 year old granddaughters. The Children's zoo is always a crowd pleaser. We didn't get to see the tigers or gorilla. The size of the cages sometimes makes it impossible to see some of the animals that remain hidden.
Hours of fun. Very clean, family friendly fun. Will be back.
Best place in New York city. I love Bronx Zoo. Its free on Wednesday.
Had A Awesome time @ the zoo... No kids & the weather was great
Only (2) exibits were closed & it was Free Wednesdays
Food was even pretty good
The best animals. The best displays. The best staff. The Bronx Zoo is a must for the entire family!
Loved the Wednesday free zoo visit, nice family outing
I think this zoo is beautiful. The animals are in large enclosures and seem well taken care. They had so many animals that we couldn't see them all in one day. The staff was friendly and it was extremely clean. I will always go there.
Nice way to spend the day. Spread out so the crowds do not seem as large as they really are. They needed more shuttles running from because if the park to the other. Many animals were not in their habitats areas.
I haven't been in years but it was nice and very much Covid friendly activity for the family.
Face painting was the worst. Paid extra for glitter and got some ridiculous answer about "glitter is not good for the eyes, but in America the FDA doesn't care about glitter, but in other countries they have restrictions on glitter and that in Disney they should not use it. They still took $15, no glitter but an idiotic lecture on glitter and no touch ups. In Disney you get unlimited touch ups for the day. The guy wasn't even good at face painting. It was a waiste of money and topped with his rainbow painted brows.
Amazing!!!!!! Very big zoo! Come prepared with snacks and beverages if possible. Wed is the best day, just a small donation at the door or great deals for all access pass to several attractions including trolley or train rides as well
