A lovely place to walk and fascinating animals to see. The bears were particularly fun.
Always a fantastic visit. Food court is open (COVID) with plenty of seating outside.
If you buy the total experience package and go any other day but Wednesday it's totally worth it. I go at least once a year with my daughter it never gets boring. Go early enough so you can enjoy everything that the Bronx Zoo has to offer. It a great place for a family trip. Everyone will walk out exausedbut but with a smile on their face and a day full of wonderful memories.
It was great except for bathroom facilities GROSS
Great zoo with some great special exhibits and activities. Be prepared for a lot of walking. There is a good selection of food items.
Wow what a wonderful day. Great company, great weather, what a great zoo.... I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in a least 40 years. I've missed to much.... I went today to support my mother and 25 yr old son for the psoriasis walk at the Bronx Zoo. I got so much more than walking for a great cause I got to see Lions, tigers, bears, etc etc.. 5 star Day all around...
Long way for walking, make sure you wear your sneakers
I suggest the following to help people who plan to visit to have a better experience because THIS is a nice zoo and I don't want anyone to have a bad time because of a poor planning.
1. Do not bring children under 6 years old.
2. Choose a cool dry day. Don't come during summer.
3. If you have to drive, plan to park your car in the area where you can take a short bus ride to the zoo. Do not use its parking lot. If you can help it, use public transportation.
4. Bring your own food and water. Foods in the zoo are not very good, very expensive and long wait on line.
5. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Needlessly to say, you need to walk miles.
6. Bring binoculars. Some of the animals stay far from spectators.
7. Be ready to have a good time!
Great place to visit. I love the animals and service.
The Bronx Zoo has to be experienced. It is amazing! You forget that you are in a populated metro. It is well kept, informative and has exhibits which are creatively put together. You can opt for a monorail around the Asia exhibit, walk through the Madagascar exhibit or peek into the Butterfly garden. You need a full day to see this zoo. Even then lots will be left that you would want to come see another time. A happiness treat all the way!
Always great to have the membership here. Enjoy taking kids on nice days and with the membership, there s less pressure to see everything at one time because we can always go back.
Not much to see to as if,now. Season begins end of April. But had a great walk and saw some animals that r able to with stand cold, weather. Such as bears and Bisons. Beautiful peaceful walk.
what a great place to spend the day. You can really tell that the folks here want to give the animals the best environment possible, and they also want visitors to enjoy themselves and learn something from the experience. It's not like a normal zoo. Be sure to check out the bears. They play and wrestle in the ponds; it's great fun to watch.
This place needs a serious update. Haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in probably 20 years, and not much has changed. After being spoiled by some of the bigger zoos in the country, I won't be stopping back to the BZ
I loved it the updates that were put into this place is great.
Always happy to go to Bronx Zoo. The animal environments are very attractive and eco friendly to the animals. What an improvement from when I was a child.
Best place ever. I love walking through this zoo all day and looking at the animals. Loved it as a kid. Still love it as an adult. Great for small groups. Everything is expensive; but hey, EVERYTHING is expensive in New York.
Great family friendly place huge selection of animals
If you go on a free day you may not see all the animals so just pay
Fun way to spend a day. They have a lot of animals and it well maintained.
Wow what a great place to be my kids loved it we had a blast besides from the pricey admission that does not include all the attractions such as the Asian monorail or the dinosaur adventures that are 6 bucks each plus a 23 dollar admission fee. But overall the animals were all out even the tigers which were actually playing with the visitors. Great place for the family can easily spend 4 hours in this place every ody will be wiped out but so worth it.
Very expensive. It's big so you need to get there early in the morning and bring snacks!!
Nice but you have to pay extra to see certain things like the gorillas.
I find that going during the Pandemic actually allowed me to enjoy the Zoo without massive crowds and long lines. We were pleased with how the staff sanitized the shuttle and enforced social distancing. The animals were majestic.
I have not been here in years and that needs to change
The Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights is a winter experience and I almost won one of the trivia games. Bring the kids and dress warm
Awesome place to be. Monorail is great. Very few water fountains. Go for full experience monorail and shuttle are worth going so, you will recover that amount. Butterfly park could be better. Can't cover in full day. Look for attractions of the day. Liked feed the sea lions and feed penguins activity a lot. Be there before the activity starts. The zoo could be started at 9 AM I don't know why start at 10 which hinders full coverage in a day.
We absolutely love this Zoo. We know what great work it does rehabbing and propagating animals. Today, however, it was rain rain and, oh, more rain.
You get to see different kinds of animals and birds. Also you see elephants giraffes and different species. It is a wonderful experience and educational for everyone especially kids.
It was lots of fun! Well worth it to get the members pass when you go with 3 adults and 4 kids!
Lots of exhibits. Only thing didnt see were tigers. Had a great time. Whole day outing
Bronze Zoo is the best zoo in NYC in terms of variety of animals. Going on a Monday was a mixed experience because there were no crowds and free street parking, but many of the smaller food and drink stations were closed. Also the camel ride was closed.
The best zoo I ve ever visited! All animals were very active when we were there. We were watching monkeys for ~30 minutes and tiger who was walking literally 2 feet from us (of course we had a glass between us :)
We spent 4-5 hours exploring but you can spend the whole day there since zoo is very huge.
Always a great place to go for the whole family. Seasonally there is the bengali monorail. When you finish you can visit j jungleworld. A must see is the gorilla area which I visit every year. If you're looking for something new there is a zipline right outside of the zoo. The zoo has activities all year round a must see whenever you're in New York
Love the zoo been a member for years and it s definitely worth being a member if you have kids!!! Gives you access to many other zoos in NY and the aquarium.
This was so pretty the kids loved it. So much fun. Great for all ages.
Have not been to the Bronx Zoo in 30 years until today. Everyone is friendly. Kids are always happy to be at the Bronx Zoo. I don't see allot but i will return to the Bronx Zoo. If you are driving parking is free in the Zoo also Free admission on every Wednesday all year round.their is a place to eat a little exspensive but but their as re tables ouside to sit an eat. I will update you when I return to the Zoo. Enjoy everyone !!!!!
Very good place for kids..it's very big. So take time to visit every corner of the zoo. Monorail is very good. Tribal dance is damn good
Almost all the main exhibits are top notch, but they really gouge on admission, and you have to read the fine print to realise there's a cheaper option (but then you have to pay extra for "premium" exhibits such as Congo, monorail, etc.)
I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in quite a while. I got to say it was clean and plenty of ways to get around. There is a nice trolley that you can hop on and hop off and they also have cable carts. Which I found very helpful .As you know the Bronx Zoo is quite big.But I would definitely recommend to get there early because it would probably take you a good five hours to do the entire Bronx Zoo! I recommend before going find out the schedule events of that day. They have a great petting zoo for young kids! And Wednesdays are for free. Have a great time I did!
I bought a membership and didn t know I need to reserve before. When I tried to enter the park, they told me that I can not with the membership, because they don t have capacity, but they said I can go and purchase general admission tickets! This doesn t make sense, so as a member you can not enter, but you can if you buy tickets( again) this is a total nonsense!!! Be aware!
I love going here. I never get to finish the park but I'm sure by the end of this summer 2016 I will have walked the whole thing with my daughter
Every wednesday you pay what you want. It's worth to visit. It's huge and there are many species interests. I loved there.
Great place to visit numerous types of animals. The Bronx Zoo offers a variety of activities, great for a family or if you're on your own.
We love the zoo so much that we bought a membership.
Kids loved it. Make sure to come early as it takes hours to go through it all.
The best zoo I've ever been, it's enormous, I couldn't see everything in only one day, variety of animals, amazing attractions, like feeding sea lions, and others. Really good place, children might like to see these animals too.
I loved the time I had there with my wife & 3 year old daughter we all had fun!!! :).
I love this Zoo! So many of the exhibits and experiences are incredible! I've gone once in summer and once in winter so far and both times were awesome. The kids and I can't wait to go back!
I'm given Bronx Zoo two stars for the only two positive experiences I had; the scenery was very beautiful, and you never get lost since there are signs and maps at every crossroad. But here is the but; it is very expensive when you are only aloud to see half the zoo. They exclude a whole continent (which is Asia) from the general admission ticket which is $33! To see the rest of the exhibitions you have to pay $14 extra. I've never had to pay that much for only half a zoo or any kind of theme park before, so that made me kind of angry and ruined the experience for me.
I would suggest people not to go during winter months. All the animals are indoors and most of the attractions are closed. Most of the zoo is closed. Not a great experience in the winter.
Great place ...you don't get tired of going back . Everything is different second time around. New stuff to do and see constantly. Make sure to see the 3D movie
I saw The Zoo on animal planet and had to see The Bronx Zoo! I traveled from Seattle WA and loved it.
it was so much fun! i went on a field trip with my school and we got through most of it in about 3 hours
Great place, lots to do for the young kids and many animals to see. Highly recommend it for a nice day with the family.
Still amazing as ever. One day is not enough to see everything!
Great place to go with your kids if you have any! I just think the parking is a little expensive, but hey, its New York, what can you do!
Totally awesome experience! I Can't wait to take my daughter. She will be turning 6 in January so PLEASE do not leave the Bronx Zoo!
Very large and well maintained zoo with a large variety. It would be nice to have more of the Asian species, and more animals of each
My daughter and I have visited rhe zoo lots od times, but this was the first timewe got take her brother. He absolutely LOVED it. A few animal displays werd closed, but what we did see was amazing. The lines for all the experience were so More
From all the zoos in New York this is my favorite. There is a lot of animals to go a see. The zoo is also very big and you can spend hours finding new things. There are also great shows that are shown. The food is a little expensive though but other then that it is good.
So much fun but becoming too commercialized. You have to pay extra to see certain exhibits now
This place truly has great customer service. We went today and got a late start. We entered around 4, and the ticket clerk made recommendations and said we should have enough time to do at least 3 of the major attractions, so we bought the expensive tickets. However, the park closed at 5:30, and upon entering it was crazy busy and the shuttle line was at least 20/30 minutes. The tickets said final sale, but we were very upset and decided to speak to management regardless. They saw the time stamp on the tickets and gave us vouchers to come back at another time. I can t wait, what we did get to see (which wasn t much) looked and sounded cool!
You will definitely get tired walking through this entire zoo. I'm not sure my daughter is ready for it. I do like the peacocks that just randomly walk around. They are not afraid of people.
Some confuse looking back the parkings lots.... should have biggers signs about parkings lots......
Natural habitats for the animals was very well done.
The best zoo in tri-state area. Depends on the season, you will see different species and animals. Make sure you eat before you go in, the food there are expensive and limited choice.
Amazing property and gorgeous exhibits. Animals are happy and healthy.
I have to say the bronx zoo is one of the greatest zoo's on the fact that they dont keep the animals in cages not to mention the decorative stone work that they have carved into many of the buildings truly make the bronx zoo a magical place to visit especially for children
My kids love the Bronx zoo. specially if u have the membership, u can go as many times u want. The zoo is so big, its not possible to cover the whole zoo in one day. Great thing about the membership is u also have access to other NYC zoo.
I think people keep forgetting, when you go to a zoo, is not for any of the animal to entertain you, is YOU who were visiting their living area so don't complaint about what the animal didn't do for you. When they didn't come to the door to greet you? Don't cry.
As for the ticket, strongly recommend "Full Experience" ticket and buy it online before you got there. All and all, excellent experience and would strongly recommend this place.
I would give it a 5 star but when we went as a class trip there weren't that many animals in their display or area.A little disappointed but a good workout
I went when I was a kid and several times thru out the years, great experience, great place for a family outing or a date, plan to spend the whole day when you go to get the most out of it, but if your with your family and get hungry make sure your pockets don't have any holes cause the food is quite costly $$$
I went here with my family and the children in our family were very happy with this place. They enjoyed themselves and got to learn so much. The kids were so happy that they keep on asking about our next visit.
Amazing Zoo. Always something new to see. Lots of attractions. Wear comfy shoes though as you'll be walking a lot
