My cousins and I visited for Boo at the Zoo. We had a great deal of fun with the kids although we were late. It's very expensive food wise so if your visiting, bring your lunch which is what I usually do. But, we were rushing to get there. We also decided to go by bus ...2.5hrs later finally! We arrived..

Love, love, love the zoo! There are so many great things to do at the zoo, parking can be a bit of a pain when the weather is nice, but it's worth it. There's so much to see.
My biggest recommendation would be to buy the membership, especially if you live close and have multiple people in your family. Honestly, price it out next time you're there. We have a family of 4 and the membership is in line with the price of going to the zoo for one day. Even better, the membership gives you access to the other zoos in NYC. You can also get a membership level with parking and discounts or free passes to the added features at the zoo, that regular guests are charged additional for. It's worth it if you live close, a must if you visit more than once a year.
Overpriced, dangerous, low quality, animal abusing zoo. Most animals are not actually there. Rails are too low making it very dangerous for adults, imagine for children. Bad surface makes most of it inaccessible. Animals are visibly in discomfort, showing lack of muscular tone. There are more humane zoos in developing countries.
Need i say more. My children absolutely love this place. Petting zoo and carousel are great. We purchased the annual pass which i highly recommend if you live in NYC proximity. It pays for itself just after one visit
The zoo has many species for all animal lovers and is a beautiful park. The whole time, you are enjoying the shade and trees. There are many things besides the zoo so I would recommend the higher priced ticket so you can do them all -- it pays for itself after 2 activities and you WILL want to do more. We had kids age 3-6 with us and they had fun the whole day with all the extra activities to keep them entertained! Park in the Bronx River Parkway lot, it's RIGHT off the parkway and so easy.
I am giving it 4 stars because the place is amazing but only 1 lion? Only 1 tiger? Where are the big cats? I will definitely go back for sure. Best part of the day was the sea lions! Made my day
I'll give it three stars because the zoo was great, but the worker at the cafeteria was rude and was mumbling words behind my back and gave me my money like I was begging for money? Really?
I am giving the Bronx zoo a 5 Star because it is very nostalgic for me. Although now at this point in my life it is against my beliefs. I had a great time with my kids. It would be great to see the zoo evolve into a modern era.
The exhibits are great if a little worn. But the food is just your typical overpriced junk food so I strongly recommend bringing your own or eating beforehand.
One of the best collections of nature's creatures in the world are on display here in my neck of the woods that is the Bronx. From Ants to Zebras you can find it all at the Bronx Zoo. Admission is somewhat on the expensive side but worth every dollar for the care and maintenance of the animals and grounds. It's a good place to bring your children and learn about the different animals and their habitats and regions they come from.
Great time. Affordable way to enjoy the day. Lots to do. Just do not be fooled the Wednesday free is a lie. It is 14.95 to do the special things at the park.
I went early October for a day trip, and it was amazing! The tigers were majestic, the monkeys stoic, and there was a GIANT snake that I couldn t stop staring at. It s truly a world-class zoo, with more than a full day s worth of activities. Peacocks roaming around gave the day an extra special touch, and although I stuck to the outdoor exhibits since it was still warm, I m excited to head back this winter for the inside exhibits. I would definitely recommend dropping for this experience. It s magical!
I can't speak highly enough of The Bronx Zoo. The facilities we're clean and we'll maintained, the animals and the exhibits are well thought out, informative and accessable. The staff's kindness goes well beyond courtesy and shows a sense of shared ownership of all aspects of the park. If you add in all of the great conversation and educational work the folks there are doing, I can't think of a better way to spend my day or price of admission.
This place is awesome, just remembered it's a lot of walking and the prices it's $$ 1/2 but you will have a good time here with your family and friends.
We LOVED the animals. We didn't get to see a few we wanted to see because we'd follow the map, and there'd be stairs, when we needed a ramp for the stroller. If you need accessible, you're going to be going around the world even more than usual with this HUGE zoo. I walked almost 3 miles in 3 hrs.
On Wednesdays admission is free. You can pay $10 a person and ride the attractions as much as you want, which we enjoyed (especially the bug carousal.) The gift shop is well stocked and we enjoyed it, it wasn't very pricey and my girls got some treasures to take home.
The giraffes and the Rhinos are indoors, which was a pleasant surprise on a 20 degree day!
Great Zoo has a lot of exhibits... I would start early because everything is spread out. If your going to see the new Dinosaur exhibit get ready to stand in line for awhile (30 mins to 1.5 hrs.).
I had not been to the Bronx Zoo in years when I last visited and it was more amazing an enjoyable than I could even remember it to be! There are so many different types of animals in various different sections of the park. You can see the entire park if you go early and do not have kids. One tip: if you plan to see the entire park in one day BUY THE ALL INCLUSIVE EXPLORER EXPERIENCE PASS that they offer you at the ticket booth on arrival. It really does save you money (which we skeptical New Yorkers had to learn the hard way).
Not awful, but I've been spoiled with an amazing free zoo at home in St. Louis. The Asian monorail was pretty neat, as was the Congo Gallery with all the apes and such. I feel the entry fee is a little steep, especially when to REALLY see the zoo you need to buy a Total Experience pass. If I knew how much of that was going to conservation efforts, I might not feel so bitter. But my husband and I enjoyed an entire day there; there is plenty to see and do.
There was a 2h waiting to get in and another 2h to get to the dinosaur safari. The good exhibits close at 4.30 so we couldn t see all the major attractions that we paid for. Many of the animals couldn t be seen.
It's a great place to visit with the kids. There is a lot of fun this to do. A very large zoo with trails, you get to see different kindly of animals. Has about three or more different entrances to gain access to the zoo. This can be a whole day affair. Nice people and always parked with people. This was a lot of fun.
Great fun for my whole family! We are in NY for Christmas and the Holiday Lights were so much fun. There was funnel cakes, ice carvings, funnel cakes, an ice slide, funnel cakes, and a solid throne of ice for Frozen on Broadway. They have several different areas all lit up of different animals. We also did the smores bar, they have rows of fire pits where you can toast your marshmallows. Busy but fun, fun, fun.
Customer service was fantastic. Zoo was kept Beautifully. If you plan a trip to go, plan the entire day, from open to close, this wod have been a five star only of they we're to have better signage.
Haven't been here in years and with the pandemic I appreciated staff walking around enforcing the masks but it was a let down even though i understand why so many things were closed
We love the Bronx Zoo and the mission of the Wildlife Conservation Society. We learn a lot every time we are there, which is often, and we also like the more fun physical activities like the Bug Carousel and the Nature Trek rope course.
Very nice zoo. Many different species of animals and birds to take a look at. Also a great place for a walk or run. The staff is also pretty cool. All animals are very safe with them.
What a zoo! Lots and lots of animals, tons of activities for families with children (and everyone else). Reasonable prices (considering it's New York). Don't miss out on the Little Penguins - they're the cutest!
Plan to spend all day. It's the world's greatest zoo, much better than others in the US. At no time did I feel like I was in or near an animal enclosure. The zoo grounds are stunning, with peacocks preening and calling. Totally worth the price of admission and parking.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our trip here. Tons of animals, some were very active, others not so much, but the whole experience was really fun. Definitely get the total experience package, all of the good attractions are only available if you have it.
I love the Bronx Zoo. They have a lot of activities for kids. The Zoo is well taken care. The have free day on Wednesday but you have to pay for the extra activities. The zoo is very big so use confortable shoes.
The Bronx Zoo has animals, store, and activities to do for kids and adults. Entrance is free on Wednesdays; however, donations are welcomed on that day and always. It is a beautiful place to visit with the family.
First time going there I had a blast with the kids, it wasnt crowded at all during the week and we were able to enjoy everything pretty much to ourselves, only thing, i wish there wasnt so many shameless mice in the Zoo. Everywhere we went they came out and were not even afraid of humans, yuck
If you are a college student in the city, you should visit often because it s free (excluding specialty exhibits)! I roam around often and the staff is friendly and extremely kind to their animals. I have met multiple visitors who come on a daily basis and have developed relationships with the animals. It is a fun and educating experience.
