Awesome place for family, great even for a nice walk with lovely park like atmosphere. Can get very crowded on weekends and "free" days. Get there early is the suggestion. Very good about allowing you to bring outside food and drinks.

Wasted a whole day and saw nothing worthwhile. Most exhibits were closed. The least the Bronx zoo can do is update their website and let visitors know of this. 4 ppl and a hundred dollars later...it was not worth going in April. Call and make sure all exhibits are open.

The Bronx Zoo is a wonderful experience. You need the total-experience tickets though, even if you don't think you're going to do anything extra. I highly suggest skipping the dinasaur safari. We spent 3 hours on line for it... To see 5 minutes of fake dinasaurs. It wasted so much of our time there. The line didnt even LOOK long but it still took forever. But overall it was a beautiful experience for my family. Lots of walking so be ready! The gorilla exhibit was incredible. They're so smart, you could tell. We missed the one with lions and tigers which was disappointing but not the zoos fault by any means.

A huge place to explore. Animals are in an expanse of land. There are indoor exhibits, or habitats, simulating tropical environments but for an additional fee for entrance. The best way to enjoy the Bronx Zoo is with multiple visits and a yearly pass that's very affordable. The zoo does offer free admission on Wednesdays. But the WCS passes are good for all WCS zoos in New York City.

Way to crowded. Had to park on grass in the way way back and then was blocked in dispite workers directing cars.. Also was not able to see many animals since they are in such a big area.. By the time you get to the other side the animal is gone.

Such a chill and blissful place during the pandemic. I hope they can limit entry once things are back to normal. Staring at improbable birds in front of beautiful backdrops while my 8 y.o. discusses what life would be like as one of those strange and beautiful creatures.

I took my niece to on a holiday and she thoroughly enjoyed it. At 2 years old all the excitement tired her out within 3 hours but she got to see a lot. The downside is that we could not find a bathroom with a changing table. This was very frustrating. I had to change her outside on a bench. Luckily, there were many other families doing the same so it wasn't awkward. Highly recommend the staff construct bathrooms with accessible changing tables in both the womens and mens restrooms.

The Bronx Zoo is always great! I love the new attractions added. The nature trek is phenomenal my boys loved it! I also like the dedicated space for toddlers. This makes it easier to manage my three kids alone.

Awesome place ! Definitely worth it to get the total experience tickets. Food is on the expensive end so I would bring some sandwiches in a bag next time. Gets very crowded during feeding times for the animals , so check times before you get there for a head start! We decided to check out other areas while people crowded around feeding shows lol . Alot of walking so dress comfortable!

Good place to visit during summer time with your family and specially kids as it will enhance there knowledge and develop their interest in the wildlife. Separate section for kids where they can touch open animals like pig,hen and cow and feed them. On every Wednesday you can enjoy free entry in the zoo but for limited stock. For photographer also there are lots of good options to showcase and explore the zoo. COVid arrangement is good and the occupancy is restricted to 25%. Kids enjoy a lot there that's why so many people buy yearly passes.

Visited July 24th, their first day of re-opening to public. Appreciated the Zoo s work on installing measures like signs and stickers for social distancing but was frustrated that so many of our fellow visitors completely disregarded the signs and suggestions for staying 6 feet apart, wearing masks properly, etc. We saw many families wearing their masks on their chin or not at all. I would have liked to see more enforcement of these rules by staff.

This is a wonderfully well-kept and large zoo but I don t recommend it at this time for those who are trying to adhere more strictly to social distancing protocols.

We were also really sad that 50% of the exhibits were closed. We didn t realize this before getting our tickets, so our experience was kind of clouded by that frustration. Recommend you to find out which exhibits will be open before visiting!

Amazing experience! The city disappears once you enter the zoo. It s a large property, so try to get there early or you won t be able to see it all. I recommend upgrading to the Total Experience, it s worth all the extras you get.

I've been going here since I was in the womb, lol, it will always be one of my favorite places. Ideal for families and it's easily accessible from public transportation. To fully enjoy the zoo, I recommend the Total Experience which allows you and your family to enjoy every attraction. Food is quite expensive but you get free refills by buying a souvenir cup. Wednesday is donation /complimentary pass day.

Due to covid 19 a lot of things were closed.
No elephants and tigers were sleeping.
We walked around for like an hour and did not see a single animal.
The madgescar exhibit was good and the petting zoo for the kids.

I grew up going to the Bronx zoo and now I am able to bring my kid's. The only issue was people were smoking weed. I think there should be more security around as this is a huge Zoo and monitor the walk ways for inappropriate doings and keep it safer for us and the children.

The Bronx Zoo is an emerald green gem in the middle of the City. The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the organization which runs the Zoo, has done a pretty good job to create exhibits which closely resemble the natural habitats. It's a Zoo, so it's not perfect. But it's done with the animals' welfare in mind. To see the whole Zoo, you would need about 5-6 hours. Wear comfortable shoes.

Great way to spend a day, my kids (ages 5 and 7) had an absolute blast! The zoo is enormous, you won't be able to cover it one day, but it was still a lot of fun. They have great exhibits, the 3D movie was a lot of fun too, my 5 year old loved it! I think it's one of the biggest zoos in the world

I recently went on a class trip here with my animal science class and had the most wonderful time. I should quickly mention that we went on a Wednesday, so our tickets to enter the park was free, but we still had to pay a few extra dollars for the extra exhibits within the park, so I definitely recommend going on a Wednesday if you have a large group, but still bring some extra money if you are planning on going to the petting zoo or any other extra areas. From the moment you enter, you can feel the energy of all the excited kids and other visitors as they all want to rush to their favorite animals. Being an animal science student, and after studying proper enclosure setups, it made me and my class very happy to see that all the animals looked comfortable and content with their living conditions. No matter what animals you like, there are plenty of very interesting ones to visit that everyone will enjoy. Some of my friends enjoyed the reptile house, some enjoyed the birds, but my personal favorite was the African animals with the lions, giraffes, and African wild dogs. I was disappointed that the zoo did not have my favorite animals of all time, the gray wolf, but there were so many other animals to see that I barely missed them. My only suggestion would be that you keep at least 6-7 hours open for your visit if you want to see the entire zoo, especially if you want to see the extra exhibits like the Congo Gorilla Forest, Jungle World, and the Children's Zoo. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone into the area with time to spare.

Visit here with my family multiple times a year, it just never gets old. Kids always have a fantastic time. Zoo is pretty big so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Like most parks food is a little "blah" and pricey, although the funds do go to a good cause. Same some money and bring your own lunch if you can.
