Amazing place for all the family, but bring your own food.
Amazing place for all the family, but bring your own food.
I use to go to the zoo when i was a young girl thank god that theres a place where you can still bring your kids i always enjoyed going there and when i got old enough to go by myself i use to go on Wednesdays when its free all you have to do is give a donation if you don't have nay money you still can go for free even though all the animals not out its still very educational so one day when your not doing anything go to the zoo you never know who you might meet.
I absolutely love donating to the wildlife foundation in charge of this Zoo.
Went on a Monday and was disappointed that most of the food kiosks we're closed. I haven't been there for several years and was surprised at the admission cost and what WASN'T included. All things considered we had an decent time but it could have been better.
I come here every chance I get! I love the bronx zoo!
Birds section is amazing. Really get you to feel the place. Some other cool sections, some are not. Many animals are hidden and you need to get lucky to see them. Kids will Love the Bronx zoo, I likes it as well. Not he cheapest attraction in the NYC' But one of the COOLEST ones.
Kids and family friendly zoo. There is a lot to do and see. Be prepared to walk as the animals as speard around this 200+ acre zoo. I suggest becoming a member. The package pays for itself with the first visit.
We love our membership here! It's a little disappointing in the winter when all of the 'special' exhibits are closed, but spring - fall its great for a full or half day with the kids.
I haven t been to a zoo in years, and this this zoo is gorgeously setup with various exhibits. Felt a tad close to some of the animals, but I m sure the proper precautions are taken with the fences/glass enclosures.
This was a great zoo!! Right up there with San Diego s Zoo. All my kids loved it. It is so big and the animals have great habitats to live in. We went on a Sunday and the crowd was very minimal. We have a family of 6 so we ended up buying a family membership which was the best because we were able to get into the other exhibits at no extra cost. We will definitely be going back!!
I do recommend packing your lunch and bringing your own snacks because the food is typical amusement park food. It s a very clean well kept park.
Fantastic zoo. So much fun. I recommend getting a membership. The staff is so friendly.
Here you can find plenty of creatures of any kind and feels like if you were in the jungle
Fun place it's just really sad seeing the animals so confine in space and not in their natural state of living. That's zoo living .
They put away the Animals at 4:30pm , and they charge you and say that they'll close at 5:00pm , what are you suppose to see on that half hour ???? And at 4:45pm they ask you to leave their premises, Unbelievable.....
Just say that you'll be closing at 4:30pm Period ...
$12.00 for a burnt hockey puck?! Get your lunch at Fordham rd plaza 1st. It's much better and cheaper
Very big
You need more than two days to visit all sections
Bronx zoo is fabulous! Animals and activities for all ages. Just a lovely place to spend an afternoon walking around.
Great zoo, it's hug and need more than one day to finish all of the parts,
Excellent park for kids of all ages, good walking exercise, some activities were closed, but overall delightful.
A lot of animals weren't there or we couldn't see. No elephant at all :(
Awesome place to visit especially every Wednesday it is free admission
Large enclosures for the animals, friendly park staff, and very family friendly.
Wonderful place to spend time with family and friends.
It has an incredible selection of animals, many of which belong in endangered species. It is very well organized and the map is very easy to follow.
I also highly recommend the monorail and the jungle, which unfortunately come at an additional cost.
It was a day well spent.
Awesome experience right in the heart of nyc. Congo gorilla area was awesome and worth paying extra
All family loves a good Zoo; Bronx Zoo is fun and it could be visited all season since some animals and birds are indoors.
The animals are so cool and it's great for school groups
Really nice I will recommended for people with family....
We love the this zoo, we go as often as we can. It is hard to believe this oasis is in the heart of one of our biggest cities. There is fun for guests of any age.
For years since i was a Child ive visited this zoo. Niceee
Best place ever! There's so much more than meets the eye. Take your time!
Happy the Elephant deserves to be released and sent to a sanctuary. Elephants shouldn't live alone! She deserves better. Do not give your money to this zoo.
Love coming here especially on the free days (Wednesday) with my daughter it s a great bonding experience to have with your children. The parking in this area suck because there s a lot of schools in the area as well as the botanical gardens but overall I can t complain
Wonderful zoo experience with an incredible array of various animals. Some of the avian habitats are amazing.
Had a lot of fun.
Bring food and drinks long walks.
Visited the Zoo for the first time last Wednesday (free admission.) Had a great time looking at the exhibits despite the heat. Would definitely recommend it.
Have been a family member for more than 10 years, one of biggest zoo in this country, a lot of animals. Some part of zoo has become outdate, and zoo is losing animals too. There are some ongoing project to add some attraction to it.
I love Zoos. I go to the zoo everywhere I travel. This was one of the best I have ever been too. Prettier than the Sydney Zoo, the San Diego Zoo and the San Francisco Zoo (which are all awesome as well). I was just taken by the layout, the garden like feel, the beautiful old buildings and the amount of enjoyable animals to see and information to learn. If traveling to NYC with kids (or even without) add this to your list. There is a bus and subway that get you from Manhattan right to the Bronx Zoo.
Good vearitiy of animals but costs a little too much money for a zoo
They have a wide choice of animals, but the animals we all want to see have an extra entry fee. The monorail was nice because it was the only place you could see elephants, not to mention I think it's overpriced $5. The staff isn't too enthusiastic to see you, and the food is just expensive. You might also want to note that there are peacocks and peahens wandering around the zoo. I wish there was more animals because I only saw one polar bear in a very large home. Overall, it's worth a visit.
I love it and I can't wait to see it again in Christmas is awesome they have very beautiful decorations
Loved it, will definitely be back every year. Wednesdays are free with a curtesy donation. I remember back in 2018 I went in a Wednesday but it gets really crowded. In 2019 I decided to go on a Tuesday and pay the regular admission fee but it was worth it. Thank you Bronx Zoo!
Always a great time no matter the weather. Most of the animals were indoors so not many sightings (we were in the northwest quadrant today). But the staff is always kind and helpful. The carousel and trek were open and that was amazing on its own with a little one (5yo).
I took my kids there for the first time .. and they had a awesome time !
Large zoo. Lots of animal species. Easy to navigate either by walking or riding their train. Friendly and informative employees.
A great experience every time we go. Try booking a special event like an animal feeding. The giraffe feeding is my favorite
Brew at the zoo is always a great experience. Came hungry and thirsty for scares and food. left happy. Tip, seek out the sangria, (down the path from the bears) and lobster rolls first ( by the giraffes)
I was so sad just even walking through each exhibit. The animals look so sad and poorly kept. The polar bear looked sad and dehydrated and was eating food from the floor. The snakes barely even moved, and we're confined in small cases especially the anacondas. The bears and rhino's were hostile looking. There were barely any baboons, and no small monkeys as advertised. The alligator, which was huge, barely had no space. The food is way over priced, IDC if it's an attraction. Charge this much your zoo should at least be decent. Just very saddened. Would like to report how the animals look. Don't know where to start.
Most animals hiding from the extreme cold. Zoo looks like it could be fair in good weather
Awesome , it s a very big park ! Reps are quite friendly
One of my favorite places in NYC. Very large zoo. Make sure to bring your walking shoes and maybe pack a lunch. You need at least 3 hours to get a good view of all the exhibits.
Honestly it's always an amazing time. You definitely need 2 days to see everything though. There is so much to see and do ! Can't wait to bring back my kids
Fantastic zoo experience. Wish they had elephants without having to travel the train
Great place to visit with the family. It is much better to go in summer because of all the attractions are open.
The only thing I would suggest is being open longer so ypu can get around to see everything easier. Other wise I loved it.
I get a membership every year because I love the zoo!!!
We go to the Bronx Zoo often. The kids love it, we love it, and it's very easy with a membership.
A must do event.hope you can go when the weather is not extremely hot .I always say you need to spend the whole day or make it a two day event to see everthing.the staff is friendly a great day for young and old.but do wear comfy shoes bring snacks and water.things can get a little costly
There was a missing venomous snake missing at one of the exhibits and people were still admitted. Insane!
Who doesn't like the Bronx zoo, it's like hating your mother. Alway have great educational time, kids love it.
My sister, visiting from Arizona, wanted to do one thing: go to the Bronx Zoo. She had an injured knee, but based on experiences from other major zoos and amusement parks we did not anticipate a problem. We traveled 90 minutes to get there and went immediately to rent a wheelchair. Three attendants told us there were no more and had no alternate suggestions to help us. However, while we were standing there someone returned one. The attendants could not accept a return without a supervisor. We waited for one to arrive so we could rent the returned chair. The supervisor did not check the wheelchair and it proved to be defective. After struggling with it for 20 minutes we decided to try the shuttle. The attendant there could not let us access the handicap line without a supervisor's ok. By the time that happened the car that has wheelchair access was full of healthy visitors and we had to wait for another shuttle. We got off in Asia near the monorail where we heard there was another customerr assistance stand. There were no wheelchairs here either, so we tried to return this one and at least get our money back as the only way we could get it to function was to drag it backwards. After another supervisor was called we were told to go to an exit gate, and return it. No suggestions on how to get back. My sister was having tears of frustration at this point. We decided to just get on the monorail. At this point, we met Zoo employees Michele, Raoul and 2 others who approached us and helped us as best they could. They took the defective wheelchair, handled the paperwork to refund our money and physically assisted my sister onto the monorail without wait. We were given a supervisor signed card to access the monorail and shuttle. We were told we would be able to get a courtesy ride to our car. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff did not follow through. We were denied the courtesy ride to our car when we asked for it. After the monorail, we slowly limped to the shuttle. The attendant called his supervisor to ask if he could drop us off closer to the Gorilla exhibit instead of at the designated stop. He was told no. After 4 hours of struggling, waiting for supervisor permissions and seeing only exhibits from the monorail we gave up and left. Michele, the one hero of the day had given us free return tickets. Besides this being a one time opportunity for my sister, why would anyone want to repeat such an awful experience? The Bronx Zoo is much more enjoyable on TV.
Not too many animal in exhibit. Go on a Wednesday it's free make a donation. They need to update zoo.
One of the snakes followed us home.
It was packed!
Wednesday s are free with suggested donations.
Get in early if you can to enjoy all the attractions.
Wheel chairs, motorized chairs, strollers and double strollers are available for renting. So leave the excess stuff behind.
Excellent family outing.
Took our children, grandma and visitors.
Parking is great! Employees help move things right along.
Love the squirrel monkeys, prairie dogs and bug carousel.
The reptile exhibit is fun! So much to see.
Like the steel Rhinos
Nice to see the Komodo
Lots of restrooms and changing tables for the children
The Bronx zoo is large and beautiful. Definitely get a look at the tigers!
I honestly found the zoo a bit overrated. It isn't also is great for those with disabilities. There are more hills and stairs than you might expect and not a lot of options for getting around the park avoiding them. Plus the food is insanely overpriced, it makes six flags look affordable.
I went on a Wednesday with a few friends and family members because general admission is free for all. We weren't able to do everything (as there is a lot to do) but we purchased the Experience Pass for half price and did the Monorail, 4D Movie, Bug Carousel, The Butterfly Garden, and all the other activities that cost an additional price to admission. On every other day of the week, the Experience Pass is about 30$ per person (in addition to the admission fee), but on Wednesday, the Pass is 15$ per person. It was well worth the fee. We would've spent more than that on two activities. Will definitely go back again
I visited the zoo yesterday and was so looking forward to my first visit there. That excitement was immediately crushed when I saw the crowds of humanity that descended upon the zoo on a Wednesday. I should have done my research to see that Wednesday is free day! I paid for the Total Experience pass however you waste most of your day waiting in lines to enter these carnival like venues and realize "what a waste of money" after your purchase! First of all no employees are managing the lines for these attractions and lazy, ignorant and rude people are cutting the line to cut their wait time down. I decided to speak up to one "family" who acted like the could not speak english, and I thought I was was going to get "jumped"! The woman in the group approached me and started to speak..in english..which blew their cover, and told me to mind my my business..I told her to walk the mile to the back of the line like I had to do! The gentleman in front of me then got a park employee to intervene because he had been line jumped too! The line jumping occurred in the ladies rooms too! The food also is completely overpriced..it was $12.99 for burger , handful of fries and drink! Bring your own food and drinks! I think people had alcohol there as well..there appeared to be many loud and intoxicated individuals who acted more like animals than the animals did! On the brighter side..the attraction and exhibits that were open, were nice if you could break through the crowd to see them. I think people believe just because they have a child it means that they can shove that child in front of you so that their kid can see. Guess what we paid the same amount to get in today..oh that's right we paid nothing..so we're even..wait your turn like the rest of us! Not sure if I would go back , but if I did I would probably pay to go on a non-free day and that might cut out some of the classless behaviour that I saw there yesterday!
There was nothing out and for the price that I paid to get here and inside I'm very disappointed. They want you to get the membership package just to go into some of the exhibits to see the lions, tigers, gorillas which is ridiculous. The weather wasn't too bad but still I paid alot of money just to see birds basically. Food is way too expensive in the zoo. They should tell their customers that certain animals are not going to be out in bad weather or cold weather and they should lower prices on these days.
It was a great experience at the zoo. I went in July 4th and it was really busy, but I enjoyed a lot. Here s a tip for those who wants to go: go on Wednesday because general admission is free for every Wednesday. If you decide to visit all of the attractions then it d cost you $14.95 (Wednesday only) where other days you have to pay over $20 for general administration and $36 if you want to see attractions.
