Not only is the admission price a little high but be prepared to pay unreasonable extra fees for most of the indoor exhibits. I understand that hopefully most of the fees for towards animal care but I hope the city doesn,'t take a portion of the proceeds.

We had a good afternoon at the zoo. We were able to walk 90% of the park in a couple hours. I did not get to check out the safari tour due to timing and lines, but that was more my fault than theirs. Did get to see nice clear views of a lot of different animals. Park is clean and great for kids. I was glad we went and would check it out again when visiting the city.

The animal displays are perfectly positioned to give you a great up close view. I can't recall visiting any other zoo with afforded such great views. Very impressed with the lion, tiger displays. The croc display in Madagascar is one of a kind.

Zoo is vast so be prepared to walk. Food options and service are awful. Bring from home if you can. Many cafeteria locations are infested with bees.

Clearly my 5 stars are for the zoological facility.

Fun with a Good Mission of Conservation and Education! Second best zoo in the United States. Lots of room, great landscaping, animals have natural enclosures and look happy. Gorilla exhibit alone makes it worth a visit, whole family in roomy natural surroundings. You will learn a lot about the animals but wont be overwhelmed. A bus on Madison Avenue at 47th Street will take you to the zoo's front door, how easy is THAT? Or you can take the subway from Manhattan. Or drive from anywhere. Support endangered species and lift your spirits by looking at many of nature's creatures, go to the Bronx zoo! No depressing cages.

Well curated and informative exhibits. Great layout with most walkways covered with shade. An opportunity to see some very rare species. Price of admission is high and premium exhibits cost extra. Wild Asia monorail was a fun and relaxing way to see some cool animals. The zoo is too big to get through in one day though.

good animals but get ready for a lot of walking!!! they should have better transportation around the park., especially considering we sprang for total experience tickets. is also really sad that the polar bear died. he was one of our favorites. jungle world is really cool too.

What an awesome place! Oddly enough, I've been to a lot of different zoos, and even a couple abroad. This is definitely one of the top 3 in my opinion. It's beautifully maintained, and HUGE! Way bigger than I would have thought. We went during Boo at the Zoo so lots of visitors and staff were dressed up. They were awesome with all the kids. All around, a great experience. We spent about 5 hours there and were exhausted!

My only 'complaint' is that it is really expensive. Like easily up to $150 for admission for a family of 4, parking, and if you want any snacks and/or gifts at the end. We were fortunate to be a guest of members so we didn't have to worry about admission, but I wonder how everyday families afford it. If you can, and anticipate visiting more than once in a year, I'd def recommend getting a family membership since it's pretty much paid for itself after two visits.

The first zoo I've ever been where it didn't smell. All staff was friendly. Loved their "Congo" and their gift shop. The camel rides were nice and the lady responsible for them (I think her name was Ruth) was very helpful and friendly. We chatted about camels for nearly an hour. The location is good too; 10 minutes from the subway. I came all the way from New York and it was worth it.

We are very disappointed. Got there1.5h before closing and seem like most of animals where put away and many places you couldn't get in to. Employes where leaving through gate at 4.45. my question is what time do you close, 4pm , 4.30 or maybe 5 ? Waisted money and disappointed child.

Pros:

Pros:
The actual park is pretty clean and reasonably sized.
Prices are good compared to most other attractions in the city.
Strollers available for kids.

Cons:
Like 30% of the exhibits were closed when we went. They need better ventilation in some of the exhibits like the giraffe and .

Best zoo anywhere in the US. It s huge with lots of animals so that means lots of walking. I come at least once a season because not only are the animals different, so is the zoo itself. Come early in the day and enjoy your stroll to see everything.

Love is one word to express how this place makes me feel when I see the animals that are housed at the zoo and make sure to take a few hours to go around and explore the place it's really cool and kid friendly

Had to wait 59 years -living all of it in my native city -before I got to see the Bronx Zoo! What a wonderful gift from my husband and children! Beautiful zoo. Great rare exhibits of animals/ birds and lovely designed natural habitats. Amazingly clean for its location in the middle of a big city. Great Eco friendly zoo.Loved the monorail ride and Lemurs in Mongolia. Wear comfortable shoes and bring drinks / snacks. Purchasing kids meals is great...they are adult portions and reasonable$$. Loved the visit..you won't be disappointed. You can do most of it in a day.

Went to the Bronx Zoo with my kids and friends on a Monday and it was the best day of the week to go. Not super crowded and the weather was awesome! We also did the Total Experience which is definitely worth it! I Highly recommend!

Beautiful, so big and so many things to see & do, make sure you think ahead of time which part(s) you want to explore and make an itinerary, otherwise you can get sidetracked and the day flies by.
We'll definitely come many more times.

I like the Bronx Zoo but frankly there was more attractions than animals. The price is ridiculous and not realistic for what they offer unless you pay for the attractions if not unacceptable.

It has a great variety of animals and it's clear they take good care of them. Lots of exhibits to visit, it takes the whole day to get through everything, which is awesome! Fun for people of all ages.

It's a beautiful zoo but you have to enter early cause the zoo closes around 4 o'clock and 5'oclock and there is not much time to see all of the animals and take a break from all of that walking and there is lack of food stands cause the last time I visited I wanted pop corn but did not find one but when we were leaving we found a cafe and 2 people got it but I had to share and barely got popcorn and some animal exhibits are to far apart from each other

It has been a couple years since I've visited last. So things were a bit different now. They have some COVID protocols and you need to buy your tickets in advance. I would deff pick the morning slot. We had about 2 hours of a basically empty park. The indoor exhibits are still open but they let in a small amount of people at a time so you'll wait on line if you go in the afternoon. Overall it was very nice.

Great zoo!! They have just about everything there. Get there early if you want to ride the monorail because the line gets very long.

Food is extremely overpriced, but that's what you would expect, so I brought a backpack with sandwiches and water bottles.

The tiger training was very cool, and I would reccomend watching.

We went to specifically see the gorillas but found many other informative exhibits which really let us get close to the animals. Very suitable for families, though on a quiet October midweek day there were not so many of the convenient refreshment stands open. That being said, we did get time to walk around watching the animals display natural behaviour. Highlights were the rhinos playfighting with each other, the baboons interacting with the hyrax, the sea lions being sea lions, the Tiger exhibit and the Congo

Better than expected!! Hadn't been there in literally 2 decades. There was so much to do that it would have taken us at least 2 days to see just our favorite/starred areas. We went on a Tuesday and spent the night at a nearby hotel in the hopes of returning Wednesday, the day they offer free general admission...but it rained and we didnt want our young girls to "ruin" their perception of the zoo! Will definitely be returning.

Great day trip! It's always a pleasure to visit. Soooo much to see, but soooo little time. There's staff pretty much everywhere in case you need directions/info. Food is pricey and less than average (bland). Loved the Bug Carousel, Madagascar exhibit and the Kid's Zoo. One advice: If you feel you may go more than once within a year, just get the annual pass, the difference from a day pass is around $20 (assuming a party of 3), extra $30 if you include parking (if not, it's $17 per day).
