Went on a Wednesday when there is no charge for entry. We had a great time! You pay to park in the lots but we were lucky and found spots on the street. Went with kids from 8 months to 12 yrs and we were able to get around and into every area we wanted. Kids all had a blast! Only 4 stars because we didn't get to see everything. It wasn't clear to us until we were already in which parts required payment for entry and which didn't so we'll have to try again another day!

Very nice zoo, but was very disappointed when I asked why multiple exhibits/food stands etc. were closed and was told, "that's only open on the weekend" when weekday visits coat the same.

Went on a Sunday in February and the crowds were very sparse. It was like we had the entire zoo to ourselves. The zoo was still very clean and orderly. But, be warned when it is off season a lot of the amenities are closed.

As tourists we found the zoo to be a very worthwhile.
We had a brilliant day out in the Bronx Zoo, loved the Congo area the best, it was a very hot day when we arrived but they have plenty of shaded areas.
The bird sanctuary was also excellent.
Food court was OK but kinda a bit pricey but then again it is a major tourist attraction.
We got here just before 10 and still had a small queue but not much.
Overall I'd highly recommend a visit if your in New York.

The nice area, lots of greens and three. Free entrance on Wednesdays. The animals were hot and sleepy, hidden under roof or three. Sorry for polar bear! They must to create proper environment for him!

I have been to LOTS of zoos but this ones the best. They have lots places to vist from kid sections, to 7D movies, to petting zoos, to country themed zoos! They have great food and plentiful rest areas and bathrooms I highly recommend you come vist the bronx zoo.

Always nice to visit! Right now you must order tickets online first to reserve a spot. Bronx Zoo Members do have a chance to go in person and see if there is any availability - but it's best to order online. Most hands on activities are not available right now due to covid risk, but there's still plenty to see. Sometimes you'll see peacocks walking around or rare birds too. I went today (Saturday) and there was not many people - easy to socially distance.

I loved the experience of being in a zoo since it was my first time, but the zoo service in itself is terrible.
Let s begin with their time. The zoo closes at 5pm, but by 4pm main attractions were already closed and they were actually trying to close up by 4:30!
There were some animals that weren t really fit to be out in the cold and yet they also didn t have many at all indoors either.
Food choices were pretty much either chicken fingers or fries. EVERYTHING was closed besides that.

Holiday Lights..at $30 per ticket. Was not worth it. It was a bunch of lawn ornaments and lit up bushes lighting your route.
On the plus side, in the center was a lit up tree. The lights on the tree are choreographed lights to music and sound. The seals were out to see but they were the only animals. It was a nice walk. But my 6 year old was done early.
There was a building we COULD have gone in but with covid, we opted to stay outside. Unsure of what was inside.
I feel the lights on trees and bushes needed some twinkling. Lit up animals could have moved or have some light up by motion sensor showing a hidden animal in the trees. Something to engage kids.

Beautiful zoo! With the Covid Restrictions in place, it was not crowded due to ticketed reservation entry only and everyone was wearing masks properly. The animals look well cared for in large enclosures. Can't wait to come again soon.

If I could live at the Bronx Zoo, I may. That s how much I love it! The work that the people here are doing for wildlife conservation is very special and remarkable. Everyone should visit and support this beautiful place!

The Bronx Zoo is well maintained with lots of parking spaces, places to eat both indoors and outdoors, clean bathrooms and helpful guides.

A few things you should know if you go. Parking in one of their lots is expensive, a whopping $17 per car. If it rains you will miss out on a lot of exhibits and animals. We went on a bus trip to the Bronx Zoo and it rained all day. We missed half of the exhibits or if an exhibit was open the animals were inside and many of those exhibits didn t have inside enclosures. The monorail was also closed and the shuttles didn t run so we didn t see the outer areas either. We saw a couple of gorillas in their inside closures but every time we came by they were sleeping. Maybe they didn t like the rain either. We spent the entire day there and made sure to go back to several exhibits twice. So, if it rains you may want to reschedule your trip.

The Bronx Zoo does have a lot to offer and it is beautifully maintained. A few of our favorite areas were the butterfly indoor gardens, funny lemurs, gorillas, and Komodo dragon exhibit.

Very fun and well designed zoo...It's well worth it to just pay for a membership, especially if you're a family. The benefits are HUGE, basically making it so much more convenient to enjoy the park (using their monorail and shuttle service for free, parking for free, etc...yes, well worth it).

Not a pro a zoo reviews, but the animals are easy to see (go before noon and they are much more active), and it is very kid friendly (they have an awesome kid zone that is very interactive and fun, including feeding farm animals, of course.

Highly encourage you to go!

Very nice zoo. Small enough that you can easily cover everything in 4-6 hours. 11am on a Tuesday and it's wall to wall screaming kids...but it thankfully died down after 1pm. Giraffes are indoors so you get pretty close while the Madagascar rainforest is a sight to behold. Gorgeous!

Was there this past Wednesday (July 16, 2014) with my girlfriend and 3 kids. We spent about 4 hours and it was amazing. There were barely any lines or very short wait for some of the activities. We arrived around 11:30am and the parking only took 10 minutes. Reading some of the reviews we were extremely worried about the Wednesday experienced but we went anyway. Guess what, it was amazing. No complaints at all. The experience was great and we can't wait to go back again to finish visiting the park. Yes, it's so big you can't possible experience the whole thing in one visit.

We have three kids and visit a lot of zoos. It is never my favorite activity on the travel itinerary, but I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. Its huge! They have great animals, many I had never heard of, and a ton of green space. Of course its a Monday in October and I felt like we were one of 10 families in the zoo. Also, because the crowds were small, a lot of the junk shops and snack shacks were closed, which made getting through the place a breeze. The monorail allowed us to see a ton of animals while resting our legs. I have never seen a zoo that charges admission at each exhibit, so I would say the total experience package, or membership is the way to go. Otherwise it could feel like you are being nickel and dimed to death.

It's awesome in any weather but the winter. We wasted money. Just to see indoors attractions. They should be closed during the winter.
The staff at the cafeteria are rude as heck. My kid picked up a little snack and was walking around inside with it while I was getting coffee and the cashier was extremely rude saying i have to pay first. I went to her 5 times to pay for things as she couldn't wait for me to get everything together. I hate that she assumed I wasn't gonna pay. Please be nice and be patient with families with kids.

Good but some places smelled like dung and some of the floors were dirty. But overall it was fun. Also the things there were very expensive, well I guess other than that it was great. Recommend it!

Best zoo I ve been too. We got a pass and have used it at least every other week. It s really big and I don t think you could see it all in a day with kids.

I also think you really need to get the full day pass and do the extra stuff since it really does add to the experience.

Such a big zoo and so much to see, always leave saying I can t wait to come back. Children s zoo could be a day trip on its own if you have little guys they ll want to spend a lot of time on the spider web, tree slide, petting zoo. Monorail at the Asia gate is a good way to end the day if feet are tired.
