We went on a Wednsday so it was Free, so you could give or not a donation. But there were 4 exhibits that were 6$, two they said more for children and the others something with monkeys. We didn't pay for that. But the park was great regardless. The animal were very entertaining that day and the weather was nice. Although for some animals it was still colder so they were not out. I would recommend to go on warmer days like maybe late in May when all the animals I think should be out. They do have a place for you to buy food but it's best if you would bring your own food. Its cheaper and you know what you're eating. We found parking on the street, although I saw that they do have a parking lot for the park. The have an audio that plays I think every 5-10min to make the lions communicate which is Awesome. They also have feeding of the penguin and Sea lions. We saw the little baby eating from the mom, was very cute. The brown bears were also very entertaining and the snow leopard. They also have peacocks running around I don't know if it's not allowed but we fed them and they were friendly. There's lots to see and I could go on about the amazing creations...so I recommend you go and visit yourself. Hope this was a helpful feedback.

I've heard about the Bronx Zoo for years and we finally visited! We had a great day , that was cloudy with light rain. Not ideal weather, but it must have kept most people home because it was practically empty! We didn't wait in line for ANYTHING and had no problems seeing the animals from great vantage points!
Large varity of animals. Nice job of creating an environment that looks like the animals habitat. The snack bar is very expensive. It would take about 4 hours minimum to see everything.
Great, however the monorail is not often yet and the dinosaurs exhibit is only from 10-2 . Still it was was a great time, I still definitely recommend to get the family membership.
Why the hell I waited 2 years to bring my nephew here? Now who is the hero? Lol Amazing day with kids, so many wow wow wow you are about to hear. If not the cost of the entry pass, I might come here every couple months. Bring the young, they need to know that tall buildings is not the only landscape.
I love this zoo, it's worth the time and effort to get here. Friendly staff, nice exhibits. I'd just recommend bringing a lunch. The food is expensive and lackluster.
Food prices outrageous but free Wednesday it's cool u have the extra money u save on full price entry to get grub there I usually go to the near by mcdonalds
I went here for winter night shows. The hot chocolate is tasty. The drink options are great for the cold nights. The shows are a nice change of pace. Their special exhibits are great night to enjoy. It's almost a personal experience.
It was a great experience but to view the whole park you have to pay although Wednesday is a free day. Went on the dinosaur trail the line was long but it moves fast.
Another favorite... From the 60's to the 70's, the Bronx Zoo was always fun to go to. Great memories especially with the "Day Camp" summer programs with St. Luke's school.
Overall my family had a good time, but we have two toddlers in carriages and some of the exhibits didn't allow carriages inside. I was not about to leave my $700 bugaboo outside next to the sign that said, at your own risk. I wish I knew about this before.
Beautiful green place in the middle of a city. Wheel chairs are available but limited. Wednesday's everyone gets in for free so expect many schools taking field trips.
The Bronx Zoo is my favorite zoo in New York! It has so many animals for everyome to see. They have a shuttle that takes you around the zoo, and the food is ok.
Great place! Despite not liking the fact the animal's space is small, that's the point of a zoo because this isn't a sanctuary or preserve. Lots to see and learn. Excellent for kids. Can see everything within 3-4 hours if you pace correctly. Find the two roaming peacocks and hope they open their feathers for you!
It was great to go on a Sunday during the winter season. There wasn't much of a crowd and we got to see as lot of the animals. The zoo was clean and people were respectful towards the environment.
An awesome escape from the concrete jungle of NYC. Plenty of open space, and lots of animals to see. Other than on otherwise rainy days, or when most parents/kids are at school or work, weekend afternoons are generally better than early in the day. Become a member and it definitely saves money if you plan on returning.
For my first experience it was ok I guess seeing the animal's was nice rhino the giraffe my favorite the lion but somehow they didn't seems ok maybe too much drugs...
Great zoo!!. fun for young and old.. there is always a lot to see and they change exhibitions throughout the year if you are in New York City this is a must-see!!
Thank you wild life learning center!! I did the sloth social and it was the best day ever!! I also loved all the other animals you hadSuch a beautiful place I highly recommend wild life learning center to everyone! I will definable return
Always a good time. Try to go early because the animals sleep during the heat of the day. Don't really plan on seeing it all in one day unless you are ready for a hike... It's a lot of walking!
It was an amazing experience to have the opportunity to see all animals from different parts of the world right here in the Bronx. I highly suggest paying extra to get access to all the exclusive exhibits and ride the monorail. If you have your student ID definitely bring that with you to get a discount on your ticket.
Went with a group on your buses out of NH. We had a fantastic day. The weather was perfect, nice and cool not to hot. Would have gave it a five if there were more staff visible to ask questions. I would definitely go back regardless.
We went on a Wednesday during the winter which worked out great. It's a discount day and the zoo is practically empty. Additionally William who was working at the ticket booth was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to be helpful!
A good place for kids as well as family. Spread out enough for social distance purposes and staff does a good job of being friendly and mindful of the importance of space in a pandemic mindset. There are plenty of animals and activities for children but adults will also enjoy. Some exhibits were closed and animals were not available but that seems to be more due to the season. Would recommend and plan to go again.
I love this zoo. It's huge, so you'll definitely have lots to do all day long. The monorail is one of the best things to do there and the camel rides are cute too.
Lots of people but it was nice. in some facilities they dont have air conditioning which sucks when its a very hot day but its a very cool place to bring children too also be prepared if its going to be hot because a water bottle is $4.00 and the food is very expensive
I enjoyed watching the activities of the gorillas at the Congo Gorilla forest. I loved the layout and general terrain of the Zoo. The animals are well kept and the staff were polite and very helpful. I have always loved wildlife. It's my 3rd time at the Bronx Zoo. It's always worth visiting when I am in Newyork.
This one is probably the largest we have visited to date, unless you count animal kingdom in Disney world as a zoo as I do, this zoo has the most animals aside from there. This will be very detailed and cover a lot of questions usually thought of:
Tickets. Definitely get the total experience pass. Our group was 3 adults and a child. Get them online and print them for the easiest time throughout the zoo and beat ticket buying lines. Also, the souvineer refillable cups are a dollar cheaper if done online, and we scored a 20% off all tickets coupon so everything was cheaper this way. Parking tickets are $17 for a car and only done when you park. Be sure to keep ahold of them as you will need them everywhere something would be an add on to pay for that this pass includes. From what I found is most things can be purchased separately for around $6 for each other attraction.
We did everything that is on the pass. The butterfly garden was kind of a let down as there wasn't many in there and it was small. However it's included so it's OK.
The monorail and the dinosaur safari are excellent sit down times and at opposite ends of the park. The total experience pass includes using the shuttle, but we didn't do that as we chose to walk.
The dinosaur safari was well done. They talk a lot and you get interesting facts. I'd say the total time for this was between 10 to 15 minutes and enjoyed by all of us.
The monorail is a nice break, a little bumpy at times and takes up some time. Do this if you have kids and want a decent longer time to sit and chill for a bit. This was 20 minutes plus and again talked a lot and gave out facts. Be aware the speakers on every tram are a bit loud so sit left if this is an issue.
All the areas we thought were well done. This zoo has a lot of birds so be aware of that. Even so, my 8 year old never got bored of them and enjoyed all the exhibits.
We did cross over on walking the main area a few times by the Madagascar area and children's zoo. It's like the front hub area and this is also the area we parked in.
We arrived and walked in 20 minutes after opening and left in the last hour, so we spent just over 5 hours here in the zoo of the 6 they are open. We didn't take many breaks and could of taken our time a bit more in some areas but having an 8 year old she kept wanting to go to the next animal sometimes quickly, but even as an adult I still enjoyed the pace we moved. I mention this so that way if you have never been, plan on making the arrival time as close to opening as possible.
Some ppl reviewed that animals were not in enclosures. The day we went, we maybe seen 5 areas without animals. These were smaller exhibits and didn't effect our day or mood towards the zoo In any way.
5 hours, 14,800 steps whick was just over 7 miles we covered on foot here at the zoo. There are some hills and steps but I didn't find it to be overbearing as some places.
There is a wide variety of animals here, and it seems to go on forever. While I thought most of the enclosures were well done you will notice some of the signage needs updated, etc. Some of the elements are a little worn and it shows, however there are animals everywhere, they require specific needs make messes constantly and need things like high humidity on top of the weather conditions of new York area and a city, it would be impossible to always be prestige conditions.
We traveled 3 hours to get here, from central PA. We'll worth the trip and the day spent here.
There are a plethora of animals at the Bronx Zoo. A small percentage of them are in enclosures. This is a pleasant place, especially in the cooler weather when some of the odors are less penetrating. Bring your cubs and kittens for an especially good time.
Can't believe from when I was a kid how much better everything was. ESPECIALLY IN VIEWING THE ANIMALS. ANIMAL ENCLOSURES ARE PATHETIC. 1 GOOD THING 2 BEAUTIFUL MALE AFRICAN LIONS. SAD THE NEW TIGER PACES IN DISTRESS
Came with my wife and 11 month old for the holiday lights. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for something fresh to do in NYC. You won't see any animal exhibits but the Walk thru the zoo is worth it, esp if you have kids.
Love love love this zoo...ensure you come early so you can enjoy and see everything. Hate the fact though that you need to pay to see some animals. Wednesday are free days as well
Seeing all the new exhibits and all the animals that you see on tv, actually getting the chance to see them up and personal. We were there from 10:45 until about 4. Awesome time
I looooooooooove this place. Great place to relax, spend time with family, breathe fresh air and say hello to the lions, tigers, bears, gorillas of the Congo and so much more. When it is nice outside, the zoo can get a bit crowded, but it is such a big place that crowds usually don't detract from the experience. Would recommend the WCS yearly pass if you intend to come more than once a year. We typically get it every other year. The only downside I noticed from this year's membership is that they make you pay separately (or a higher price) to include the NY Aquarium. That used to be included.
From all wcs zoos this one is the largest and most beautiful. It is set in amazing nature and all the animals and their spaces fits it. Also the architecture of the buildings is very nice. Try to reserve at least 4 hours as the zoo is huge.
I can't give this place anything less than 5 stars. It is an amazing experience everytime we go. My boy was only 6 months old when we first took him there and the animals got his attention righy away, even at that young age. Since then, we have visited at least once every two months and everytime it's a new adventure. He loves the giraffes, the gorillas and the tigers. This place us fun for the whole family from the youngest to the oldest member. Can't recommend enough!
