Always fun for all ages but can get pretty expensive between parking, full admission, food and even small gift shop purchases. But since it's not the kind of thing you do real often, it is worth it. A little frustrating that a number of exhibits when looking for animal or whatever, they were empty. Overall good experience.

The Bronx zoo is a great place to visit, and it has an amazing variety of animals to see. There are peacocks just walking around and they are gorgeous! Some of the animals there include lions- and when we went they weren t just sleeping, they were walking around and interacting with each other! There were tigers, rhinoceros, and so many birds to see. Definitely worth a visit.

Grand expansive park with a lot of animals. Not just one or two of each but many. Many different options. Bit pricey but if you live in region, consider a membership. A place you would go to often.

I last went here some time ago while chaperoning my daughter and a few of her friends on a class field trip. We all had a great time here checking out the animals. I liked this zoo much better than other zoos I've gone to. The layout was good and there were many cool animals to see. My favorite of the day was the gorillas. Although I do really like the big cats...
The facilities were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
If I had to pick a favorite zoo, this is it!

Very beautiful park to spend the day. its kids and family friendly but its huge you have to organize your trip before hand so you wont lose time trying to figure out what to do or where to go. the Gorilla exhibit is a MUST

They changed alot around. At the front gate they didn't bother saying they close in 45 min. Or I would have come back another day. They need to post hours of viewing at the ticket booth.

I went on "free" day and for what you can see with out paying a cent makes me ready to go back and pay to see the other exhibits. My favorite part was seeing the scarlet ibis. I enjoyed my time and I cant wait to go back.

Lions and tigers and bears... oh my! No really, pretty much every imaginable species on Earth lives here. The gorilla exhibit was by far the best! Nothing like seeing a dominant silverback in his natural habitat, almost kind of surreal when you see it up close for yourself. Check out the gorillas for sure, that's definitely one worth seeing. My only criticism is obviously the price because tickets here are VERY EXPENSIVE for just a one day admission. But there are tons and tons of animals to see so it does kind of justify the cost.

Even with covid-19 about this was an enjoyable day. The zoo doesn't have inside exhibitions open yet but most sites are available. They kept the crowds down and everyone I saw were wearing masks. I felt safe so me and my daughter could enjoy ourselves.

The place is hugh. While some exhibits are closed for various reasons and different seasons, visitors should somehow be notified either by posted signs at the intersection or by workers which exhibit in that section is closed so that our time and efforts are maximized.

Great, But it is horrible for them in this heat (I almost passed out), to have the Dinosaur Safari ride and be on the line for almost 2 hours when there was available trucks there NOT in rotation so your walking around a zoo all day, standing in the heat on a line and 2 trucks going. waste of peoples time like there is other things we wanna see and that takes alot of time.

Great zoo with educational content on lots of different animals and habitats across different ecosystems...jungle, plains, forests, mountains, etc. It is BIG - expect to do a lot of walking, so bring a stroller for little ones.

Good family fun. If you come on Wednesday the general admittance is free and the full experience is half the price (normally $29.99 and this day you can get it for $14.95). If you go with kids plan to arrive early, therefore you can maximize your time, since the zoo is pretty big.

Wasn't too crowded for a weekend, got to see almost everything. It's that BIG two days would be enough to see it all. Children had loads of fun! It was hot and we didn't find any water cooling stations. It's worth paying the extra for the "total experience" as each special attraction in the zoo is costly if you pay for each one separate. Plenty of food options and shopping for souvenirs. We're likely to go back.

This is the best zoo in my opinion. I visited the queens zoo last year but there is really no comparison. If you have children the southern boulevard entrance is the one for you. The children s zoo, flamingos, seals bird houses and monkey house are all near by as well as the eatery. The dinosaur exhibit is a popular attraction but there was an hour and a half wait today. I purchased a membership and it was well worth it. It covers the bug carousel which I m sure your child will want to ride over and over again. It is also a tax write off. Bonus!

Even a whole day wasn t enough to see everything. We had so much fun. I highly recommend coming in October. Some of the animals were sleeping or hiding, but that s the way of all zoo animals. The children s zoo is the best I ve ever seen. My nephew had a blast.

The zoo is great - so much to see, there's no way to do it all in one day. Even on a hot summer day, you can find shade from all the trees covering the park, plus there are many indoor exhibits. A zoo membership definitely makes sense for a family of 4 or more that enjoy going to the zoos during the year. PS the only way to see the elephants is by the monorail so don't miss it!

I remember visiting this zoo in 1995. As a teenager, I was deeply impressed back then by the rain forest it featured and the modern outdoor facilities for the animals. Looking back at it after visiting again in 2017, this zoo is really not up to speed compared to its larger European siblings. Zurich Zoo has a 120 000sq foot rain forest where monkeys, bats, chameleons and other animals roam freely among the visitors, multiple extensive restaurants, modern facilities for almost all other kinds of animals including the large inhabitants of the African savanna. Unfortunately, Bronx Zoo has not managed to uphold the standard it set 20 years ago. We visited in December. Many larger mammals such as the lions were locked up as they are only on display in outdoor facilities, the giraffes and rhinos led a miserable existence in very small indoor housings. The gorillas, one of the main attractions with an entire compound including a theater dedicated to them and the destruction of their natural habitat, could only be seen through a tiny window of a very old fashioned indoor facility. The only restaurant served the same dismal cuisine you would get at a small town fast food joint. Overall, a very strange and disappointing experience for a seemingly major and over advertised institution.

Went there for the first time with the fam. Had a really good time, all the animals were out my favorite part was the exhibition of the Congo gorilla amazing and the Tigers, one came to me and got so close to the glass wow that was cool. And also you could bring a cooler in and food to the park, and if you go on a Wednesday the entrance is free wow we saved 140.00.

A fun dsy with my family, it was my grandsons first time at a zoo, he loved it. Thank God that there's a lot of shaded areas, the heat index was over 100 degrees and we were able to walk around for a few hrs. We took advantage of the shuttle to the parking lot, I highly recommend it! The staff were friendly and eager to help.

It's a very vast zoo having so many animals in it. Best time to visit is on Monday, Tuesday or else on Saturday but if you go on other days expect huge crowd especially on Wednesday on which you have free general admission. Better to plan the zoo parking area as it saves time to get the zoo entrance tickets else you have stand for hours in the queue for getting tickets. Get zoo map to roam around the zoo which saves time n also helps you to not to miss important things which you wanted to visit. Better get your own food or drinks as food is very costly in zoo .
