Always fun for all ages but can get pretty expensive between parking, full admission, food and even small gift shop purchases. But since it's not the kind of thing you do real often, it is worth it. A little frustrating that a number of exhibits when looking for animal or whatever, they were empty. Overall good experience.
Great zoo. Just please work on making the shuttle longer.
The Bronx zoo is a great place to visit, and it has an amazing variety of animals to see. There are peacocks just walking around and they are gorgeous! Some of the animals there include lions- and when we went they weren t just sleeping, they were walking around and interacting with each other! There were tigers, rhinoceros, and so many birds to see. Definitely worth a visit.
Grand expansive park with a lot of animals. Not just one or two of each but many. Many different options. Bit pricey but if you live in region, consider a membership. A place you would go to often.
Most amazing place, children's zoo redo is incredible.
Something different from the Philadelphia zoo. Way better and bigger. Will be returning when the weather get cooler.
It was a great experience, To take the complete view need to start sharp at 10am.
I last went here some time ago while chaperoning my daughter and a few of her friends on a class field trip. We all had a great time here checking out the animals. I liked this zoo much better than other zoos I've gone to. The layout was good and there were many cool animals to see. My favorite of the day was the gorillas. Although I do really like the big cats...
The facilities were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
If I had to pick a favorite zoo, this is it!
Good times
Great attractions just get there early to see everything that they have to offer.
It's pretty fun but cause you get to see all of the animals but don't come out on a hot day
No reservations until Sept,12 2020. So disappointed
Very beautiful park to spend the day. its kids and family friendly but its huge you have to organize your trip before hand so you wont lose time trying to figure out what to do or where to go. the Gorilla exhibit is a MUST
We really enjoyed it! We had a nice time there. Awesome place, looking forward to go back there again.
Good for exploration and to appreciate the diverse and magnificent hand work of God
Zoo is opened, most of the indoor stuff is closed, but still a good place to spend some quality time together with your love ones. Open and spacious. Well worth it to get the membership.
They changed alot around. At the front gate they didn't bother saying they close in 45 min. Or I would have come back another day. They need to post hours of viewing at the ticket booth.
Good place to spend a whole day.. little expensive.. Especially the food.. but it's for the animals so.. if you plan to go more than one then taking a membership makes sense
Animal lover's mecca!! It is like stepping into a different world. Beautifully landscaped and maintained. Natural looking habitats. A wealth of knowledge!!
Great place for the kids. A lot of walking so dress comfortable
Great day for a Wednesday not to busy first thing in the morning. I would suggest spending the extra $15 to do the exibhits it's worth considering the zoo is free on Wednesday.
Buy the Membership and enjoy all the great benefits!
Had a blast, try to see the Sea Lion feeding if you can. The food options are less than optimal, not much healthy fare. Pack your own if you can.
Super busy today (Wed. Spring break) but had a good time with my family.
Super place even during the winter. There is the World of Birds, Jungle World, Reptile House, Aquatic Birds, Madascgar.
Wednesday's entrance fee is voluntary and any amount but doesn't include some attractions like the Gorillas or butterfly garden. Unlimited access is $14.95
I went on "free" day and for what you can see with out paying a cent makes me ready to go back and pay to see the other exhibits. My favorite part was seeing the scarlet ibis. I enjoyed my time and I cant wait to go back.
Me and my boyfriend went to the zoo on Wednesday which is a free day and pay as you wish. We enjoyed the animals, will come back again soon
Granny loves going to the Bronx Zoo, we almost left her there with Gorillas she climbed into the caged area God knows how she did that.
Everytime we go to the Bronx Zoo we have a completely different and entirely wonderful experience. Today was no exception.
The largest zoo in New York isnt it. The zoo has tons of animals for you to see and let your child experience!
Wanted to see more close. Up of animals but was fun
Lions and tigers and bears... oh my! No really, pretty much every imaginable species on Earth lives here. The gorilla exhibit was by far the best! Nothing like seeing a dominant silverback in his natural habitat, almost kind of surreal when you see it up close for yourself. Check out the gorillas for sure, that's definitely one worth seeing. My only criticism is obviously the price because tickets here are VERY EXPENSIVE for just a one day admission. But there are tons and tons of animals to see so it does kind of justify the cost.
Nice place to visit, if your going to pay to visit and don't want the hassle don't come on a Wednesday
We love this place and would like to take kids often. They'll have a great experience.
Love the Bronx Zoo there is always something new to see
I took a group of kids there they enjoy the site on that when we went on the free day so it was so much better because you got in for free
Even with covid-19 about this was an enjoyable day. The zoo doesn't have inside exhibitions open yet but most sites are available. They kept the crowds down and everyone I saw were wearing masks. I felt safe so me and my daughter could enjoy ourselves.
Love this place. My kids and i visit about 3 times a year or more
The place is hugh. While some exhibits are closed for various reasons and different seasons, visitors should somehow be notified either by posted signs at the intersection or by workers which exhibit in that section is closed so that our time and efforts are maximized.
Even tho it's free on Wednesdays, it is so packed! I wished they had more free days but besides that largest metropolitan Zoo in the world.
Great, But it is horrible for them in this heat (I almost passed out), to have the Dinosaur Safari ride and be on the line for almost 2 hours when there was available trucks there NOT in rotation so your walking around a zoo all day, standing in the heat on a line and 2 trucks going. waste of peoples time like there is other things we wanna see and that takes alot of time.
Great for family small kids.. spend the whole day here
Wow you would have an awesome time watching all the animals just take good with you cause erryting is expensive nd the good is not all day good
Great zoo with educational content on lots of different animals and habitats across different ecosystems...jungle, plains, forests, mountains, etc. It is BIG - expect to do a lot of walking, so bring a stroller for little ones.
This is my favorite zoo to visit on the east coast. Definitely recommend to everyone.
Good family fun. If you come on Wednesday the general admittance is free and the full experience is half the price (normally $29.99 and this day you can get it for $14.95). If you go with kids plan to arrive early, therefore you can maximize your time, since the zoo is pretty big.
Had a wonderful time with the family. Great learning experience.
Wasn't too crowded for a weekend, got to see almost everything. It's that BIG two days would be enough to see it all. Children had loads of fun! It was hot and we didn't find any water cooling stations. It's worth paying the extra for the "total experience" as each special attraction in the zoo is costly if you pay for each one separate. Plenty of food options and shopping for souvenirs. We're likely to go back.
Normally would be a 5 because I love the zoo but I went this week and paid for the ultimate experience and several of the attractions were closed!
Best time to go is in the fall on a Friday. No crowds. You see more and experience more.
The Bronx Zoo is a great place to visit in New York. As a city that has so many buildings and streets, the zoo provides a unique alternative to the business of the city.
Family experience!..There's somerhing there for everyone...children, youth, adult, seniors and special needs. You can use the venue for a date, relaxation, family bonding...You have the Nature Trek , Carousel, Asia Monorail, Camel rides....just go and relax and enjoy!!
The Bronx Zoo experience is by far the best zoo I've visited. It's surprising what passes for a zoo in other places. Visit The Bronx Zoo its beautiful & filled with animals. Love It !!!
The staff was helpful, there were many animals to see. They have social distancing procedures in place, but it's also up to the visitors to adhere to them.
Real nice zoo. Needs 2 full days to do justice to the place
Very nice place to interact with the family and friends
This is the best zoo in my opinion. I visited the queens zoo last year but there is really no comparison. If you have children the southern boulevard entrance is the one for you. The children s zoo, flamingos, seals bird houses and monkey house are all near by as well as the eatery. The dinosaur exhibit is a popular attraction but there was an hour and a half wait today. I purchased a membership and it was well worth it. It covers the bug carousel which I m sure your child will want to ride over and over again. It is also a tax write off. Bonus!
I always love the zoo very much. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Even though it is colder and most of the animals are away. I got to hear a lion roar. Awesome!
Even a whole day wasn t enough to see everything. We had so much fun. I highly recommend coming in October. Some of the animals were sleeping or hiding, but that s the way of all zoo animals. The children s zoo is the best I ve ever seen. My nephew had a blast.
The zoo is great - so much to see, there's no way to do it all in one day. Even on a hot summer day, you can find shade from all the trees covering the park, plus there are many indoor exhibits. A zoo membership definitely makes sense for a family of 4 or more that enjoy going to the zoos during the year. PS the only way to see the elephants is by the monorail so don't miss it!
I remember visiting this zoo in 1995. As a teenager, I was deeply impressed back then by the rain forest it featured and the modern outdoor facilities for the animals. Looking back at it after visiting again in 2017, this zoo is really not up to speed compared to its larger European siblings. Zurich Zoo has a 120 000sq foot rain forest where monkeys, bats, chameleons and other animals roam freely among the visitors, multiple extensive restaurants, modern facilities for almost all other kinds of animals including the large inhabitants of the African savanna. Unfortunately, Bronx Zoo has not managed to uphold the standard it set 20 years ago. We visited in December. Many larger mammals such as the lions were locked up as they are only on display in outdoor facilities, the giraffes and rhinos led a miserable existence in very small indoor housings. The gorillas, one of the main attractions with an entire compound including a theater dedicated to them and the destruction of their natural habitat, could only be seen through a tiny window of a very old fashioned indoor facility. The only restaurant served the same dismal cuisine you would get at a small town fast food joint. Overall, a very strange and disappointing experience for a seemingly major and over advertised institution.
The Lights at the Zoo was amazing! I took my daughter on Saturday n she loved it! I didn't give 5 stars because very little food options! Otherwise very nice.
Went there for the first time with the fam. Had a really good time, all the animals were out my favorite part was the exhibition of the Congo gorilla amazing and the Tigers, one came to me and got so close to the glass wow that was cool. And also you could bring a cooler in and food to the park, and if you go on a Wednesday the entrance is free wow we saved 140.00.
Im a clown nd live 2 have fun- i was able 2 act like a kid with my children...nd 4 some reason u have more fun on Wednesdays
Every second was great! Got in the back to pet the Rhinos(nice to know someone on the inside, lol).
Clean and easy to navigate, not overly crowded even on a holiday weekend
A fun dsy with my family, it was my grandsons first time at a zoo, he loved it. Thank God that there's a lot of shaded areas, the heat index was over 100 degrees and we were able to walk around for a few hrs. We took advantage of the shuttle to the parking lot, I highly recommend it! The staff were friendly and eager to help.
It's a very vast zoo having so many animals in it. Best time to visit is on Monday, Tuesday or else on Saturday but if you go on other days expect huge crowd especially on Wednesday on which you have free general admission. Better to plan the zoo parking area as it saves time to get the zoo entrance tickets else you have stand for hours in the queue for getting tickets. Get zoo map to roam around the zoo which saves time n also helps you to not to miss important things which you wanted to visit. Better get your own food or drinks as food is very costly in zoo .
It was too packed going on a Wednesday, I waited an hour in line just to get in, the food was way overpriced, my overall experience was just ok.
Amazing place ..green ,fun,..everything in one place..I really recommend this place .
Great for a family outing Wear good walking shoes lots to see
Great place to take the little ones. They also have a free day during week.
Amazing collection of animals. Exhibits are well laid out.
My 1 and 3 year olds loves it. Some folks weren't adhering to social distancing guidelines but overall a good trip.
One of my favorite places in the bronx. As a Bronxite, it is one of the first things I take people to see who are visiting the borough.
The animal ambassador program is amazing! I got to pet a fox!
Lovely zoo with lots to see, never been to a Mouse House before!
