I went to this place on the wrong day. It's a lovely zoo with a nice offering of exotic animals like giraffes and lions. However, I came here during Easter week when schools are on vacation and I also came specifically on a day when it was free. Saying that, one could understand how crowded it was. Since I'm in a wheelchair, the bathroom line was tremendously long. Also, they were ladies waiting on line for the men's room that's how long it was.

Fun place to go and spend the day and lots to see. The monorail is worth the ride and it's a good time. Reasonable price and right off the highway and easy access to the parking lot. Bring your walking shoes cause you will do alot of walking. And you can bring a bag with some snacks and drinks

Large zoo with lots of animals and attractions to keep kids entertained for hours while walking through. Can be extremely crowded and busy during the summer months and on Wednesdays when it's 'free' to enter.

It's a prison with iron cages for animals until they put them on "exhibit". They are then put back in the iron cages. Revolting! They proclaim it's conservation. I worked there. These animals need to be left in their natural environment and observed and protected. Not manipulated and used as a dollar generating business. Better to observe animals in their natural environment.

It's one of the best zoos in the world. Unfortunately it is very crowded so it's best to get there early. The zoo is ever changing, so they try to keep it fresh every year for everyone. Definitely worth a day trip with the family or even alone.

I don't believe in caged animals for the amusement of humans. Open a book or save money to see the animal in its natural environment. Zoos are no better (to the animals' rights) than a circus. Just exploitation wrapped in gilded robes of "education".

Wednesday is donation day so you give what you can. Great place to go and enjoy the animals and spend a few hours, if you go on Wednesday and you don't buy a full price ticket you will be limited to only certain attractions which is still good.

We went in March, which is a bad time to go. The monorail was closed so we couldn't see the Asia Plains animals, including the elephants. All of the upselling was annoying too. The gorillas were extra and then they weren't even in their habitat. Overall we were extremely disappointed.

Worse zoo i been too. i remember going when i was younger. I went last week and it was nothing at all like i remembered.. none of the staff members seem to to have knowledge of anything that was asked. One whole section was closed off when others asked why a female said " because it just is so deal with it. Go somewhere else..." smh. When i heard that i was done and i left.. it was a waste of time. Never again... staff was rude as hell and park was just out of order.

Always fun. Great entertainment for both kids and adults. Only one drawback to me personally I haye seeing the animals locked up. I know that zoos are educational and conservation and preservation minded but it still bothers me

Very good for the kids to take a forest bath (take all electronics out) and have them be amazed with nature. Very good but pricey. There are stuff not included in the regular ticket such as the shuttle and some. Games for the kids. For that you will have to buy the all included. Noticed that all included only offerya discount to the zip line. Be aware of all of this because this one trip can become very pricey for the family!

I was able to get a year's membership for myself for free with my IDNYC card. I think they're only offering this deal until the end of 2018 though. Considering I live just a few short blocks away I thought it was worth it so I have a place to go & just walk around on a nice day. The monorail is my favorite part (even though it's not covered in the free membership - none of the "special exhibits" are) & I love seeing the red panda on the ride!

A great place to visit as a family or for a school field trip. From adults to children everyone enjoys the Bronx Zoo. The premises are beautiful and their ecological feel makes you feel part of each animals habitat. Besides enjoying our visit we have learned a lot from the animals that reside there. Being able to visit this beautiful zoo makes you think how beautiful nature really is. the Zoo is open all year round, even though I have only visited during the summer, there are a variety of activities for all ages. We absolutely love this Zoo and I highly recommend you to visit it with the whole family.

I love the Bronx Zoo! I've already been there twice, both my visits were enjoyable! Easy to get too as well! The Zoo is only 25 Minutes from Manhattan and 2 Hours from Albany. Great Parking near the Bronx River Parkway! Very convenient! Definitely going back!

So many animals and lovely experience! However, if you have little ones under the age of 2, some attractions are restricted to strollers and unless you are willing to carry your littles around, you will have to miss out on them! That was the only thing we wished we had known prior to going with two of our girls under 2.

I love the BZ but I had two young children and a stroller. The map was confusing, the signs weren't great and I had to walk what seemed like a quarter mile to get the stroller down ramp because I could use the steps. Seems like an easy fix to add a ramp to those 2 wide stair cases. I also asked for directions to the penguins and the woman wanted me to go back the way I came and I knew those penguins weren't where she was sending me. Probably new, but give them walkie talkies and let them ask for help. It wasn't too crowded but it was hot. Ll in all a great day out.

Free entry, but you will have to pay to see some of the animals. Most of the animals seemed to be hiding or not enjoying it, so a bit sad really

Entry to the zoo is free, which is great and makes it suited for families. But some of the animal enclosures are sectioned off, and you will have to pay to see them.
Alot of the animals within the zoo seemed to be hiding as far away as possible from the visitors so it's hard to get a good view, with some being clearly distressed by the cramped conditions.
Food and drink is obviously overpriced and not worth it.
I would not say its worth visiting unless you have are already in the area

The bar was set pretty high for this experience. Mostly, very impressive. However, the grounds were not as kept as I would've expected. It is a big advantage to go when the forecast calls for rain. We barely got any rain and the lines were short.

Far too expensive, a bottle of water is like 3 or 4 dollars. Bring your own food. There's cool stuff to see but all the really cool stuff you have to pay to see. It's alot different from when I was a kid, my kids are already sick of it lol.

Love the zoo. The Bronx zoo is a place any animal lover or anyone who appreciate nature should visit. I must say that the exhibition weren t amazing, I think that there were other, more amazing sites, but if you are in New York, and it is a sunny day, take some quality time and visit.

I enjoyed going to the Zoo on Wednesday which is no fee to view the animals, although it costs 16 dollars to park. Before going find out what animals you will be able to see. I suggest for you to go early because the Zoo is very spread out. The animals have a great environment to roam around, however it makes it a little difficult to see the animals. Sometimes I feel like I go there to see people looking for animals.... I did see the tigers and seals...

The biggest zoo in the city. A lot of people come here and i love it. The only annoying part is Wednesdays when its free. Not that the free admission is bad, but way too many people crowding the buses especially the the NYCTA Q44 bus to Queens at 180th & Boston Road. A LOT of people come on Wednesdays .... so be prepared.

One of my favorite places on earth! Such fond memories of being there as a child, then with my children who thought of it as an extension of our backyard, we were there so often. And now back with my heart-light grandchildren . Nothing better then seeing a new generation feeding goats in the Children's Zoo or discovering a path or animal. It becomes new and exciting again for me as well. This is an extraordinary place for any age at any time of year. Give yourself the gift of the Zoo!

I'm not usually a fan of vegetarian food but I went here with a friend who wanted to go. The dishes were so delicious and unique, you wouldn't even know you were not eating meat. Not only was it delicious, it is some of the best Chinese food I've eaten.

Loved the zoo staff was really nice and friendly. I would like to give a humongous thank you to the guys that drove shuttle 19 at 530pm July 2, 2017. My mom is handicapped she can't walk that far she was with a wheel chair both the guy driving and the other guy were super friendly accommodating and didn't make my mom feel like a bother! Thank You so much!

One suggestion: if u r going in peak summer like we went in July , don't go at noon if the day is really hot and sunny , most of the animals will be in shade and u won't be able to enjoy seeing them , ; jungle world and monotrain is a must , enjoy

I usually would give 5 stars for the Bronx Zoo, but I'm bringing it down to 4 for their pandemic response (which is still really good). They did a great job of mandating masks, limiting entry, providing hand sanitizing stations, etc. However, people in general are terrible and ignore these rules once inside the zoo. I would have liked to see more employees monitoring guests and ensuring the rules stay enforced. I still love the Bronx Zoo and will continue to be a patron.

I've always loved going to this zoo. It seems as though it has gotten smaller with less exhibits. Many of the vendor kiosks and stations were closed. It is still educational and a neat place to visit.

if you haven t seen a peacock closely not to worry this zoo will give you ample close encounters of them!!
Zoo has good variety of animals.
Plan to start tour visit early morning as you will need one complete day to cover the entire zoo.

Recommend not to waste time in standing queue for hours together for the Dinosaurs Safari it s really not worth, but if u have small kids whom u wanna show how the dinosaurs were thenu may.

they have shuttle service within the zoo for point to point travel(as it s a very big landscape)
