I'm a native of the bronx and have always been familiarized with the ill practices of this zoo but having my little sister recently get onboarded as a new hire prompted me to post this review. This zoo does not allow breaks to their underage workers even if they are working overtime shifts, my sister was caught snacking on a granola bar (not having eaten all day) and was told by a supervisor since she was eating all she'd get was a 10 minute break. On another occasion she even told my sis all they care about is how well they upsell to the tourists, nothing else. They are not allowed to change out of their uniforms to catch the zoo's transportation across this massive park, mind you it's getting hotter out. These are HIGH SCHOOLERS earning their way for bus/lunch money and management treats them worse than prisoners at rikers island! Kids definitely won't know how and where to speak up to assert their rights but I for sure will. This certainly leaves one to question just how they care for the animals that inhabit this disgraceful zoo. Don't support this zoo, I haven't for years.

The Bronx Zoo is one of the best zoos that I have ever been to in my life. This zoo is one of the biggest zoos in the United States and is truly amazing. I suggest that if going you steer clear of Wednesdays because admission is based on donation only so it tends to get a little crowded. If you visit this zoo I would recommend visiting the gorilla exhibit. I found myself spending more time than usual there because I got lucky enough to witness a feeding.

Despite of all the indoor attractions are closed due to covid. My family and I still had a lovely time. The staff were on top of cleaning the tables and very polite. Hand sanitizer at every corner and the bathrooms were very clean !!!! FYI it's only online tickets being sold and make reservations before going this is very important.

Very nice place to take your kids and family. Would suggest to start early in the day as it is quite a large place to cover on foot.
There are food courts and restrooms at almost every walking distance places, so need need to worry about that.
Better to go when day light savings is on and also on weekends as you will get more time to visit.

Pretty wide and clean place. Well organized and with various attractions focused on the animals that live there. Best of all, admission is free on Wednesdays. Really a place with no bad to say. Congratulations to the organizers of the Zoo.

I think the family membership is very worth it. We went a few times during the season and a few times during the off season. A lot is closed for the winter but it's not crowded and still entertaining.

The Bronx Zoo never gets old to me. I love walking around and seeing the animals as well as learning about them. I have been there several times but never paid to do anything extra except the monorail (a must). If you go, I say pay to get the full experience. The 4D was so much fun and the extra sites were definitely interesting.

Its one of a mustsee attractions if you're happen to be in Bronx. Tickets are not expensive but if you're a tightfisted person (as I am) wait until Wendsday - entrance is free there. My favourite moment was when I came across feedind see lions and seal. Beautiful. Just look at the attached photos.

The Zoo was like its own secluded forest from the rest of the Bronx. My favorite part of the Zoo was the peacocks. In any normal park or zoo there are geese, ducks, and occasionally swans. But in the Bronx Zoo there are peacocks everywhere, not part of an exhibit or in a cage, they just go around freely.

It's the zoo, this zoo is one of the older zoos but a lot has been done to bring the displays into the modern day. There are many really nice looking older buildings that have been modernized inside, and some new really nice buildings as well. This actually reminded me a lot of Disney's Animal Kingdom only it was a cold April day and there were not that many people there. I will be going back because we did not have that much tome to really explore when we were there.

Had a great time with my camera club Southeast Queens Camera Club. We had a field trip to the Zoo taking pictures of the animals and people. We made some new friends that are season photographers.

It has definitely changed a lot from what I remember. There seemed to be renovating going on. I found some of the sales people to be a bit pushy & one just walked away after asked a question, another male worker wasn't very nice when asked for a direction. Overall glad I went on a Wednesday because it wouldn't be worth it at full price on another day.

The greatest day... all the animals are cared for 100%. Viewing all of them is amazing. It's such a big zoo you have to go 2x's to see everything. It's worth it. The parking is great, reasonable price. When your hungry, the food and snacks they sell are good. Alot of walking, and many spots to sit and rest. It is the greatest day. Bring your kids, grandparents, friends. The best...

Amazing zoo. Very well maintained, and the animals had good enclosures. I liked seeing all the variety of animals, especially the ones that were extinct in the wild. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed directions. It was a lot of fun seeing the Zoo TV show come to life!

Ok zoo, nothing fantastic. I suppose visiting in the middle of winter in NYC is not ideal as it was freezing and some of the animals were off display. I found some of the enclosures to be very small considering the size of the animals. Not ideal particularly the Rhino and Giraffe displays which were tiny for such big animals. Maybe these were their winter enclosures but if that's the case then maybe don't have animals like these in the zoo in the first place as it really seems cruel. Quite a big zoo. Probably need about 4 - 5 hours to explore in the summer when all animals are displayed. Done it once don't think it would be worthwhile going back.

This Zoo was amazing! I loved how open and spacious everything was. The animals truly had room to move and live. Yes some of them were hard to see, but animal welfare comes first here, and I appreciate that. We went on a Saturday and even though it was full when we came in, the crowd was never a problem. I would highly recommend the full experience. Jungle World and the Congo experiences were amazing! And you get souvenir cups which were free to refill on the day we were there. I would highly recommend this Zoo and I would say that you need to carve out a significant amount of time to explore. We will definitely be back when our son can walk a little better so he can experience it too.

If not the biggest one of the biggest zoos in America. Hundreds or thousands of animals can be viewed here. The best part was the short tiger viewing. Be prepared by putting on your walking shoes.

Decent sized zoo , they seem to care and take good care of the animals but like any other zoo alot of the animals had very small living areas one of the crocodile areas had 2 large crocodiles in a very small room. My favorite part was the monorail because all the animals had very large areas.

Treetop adventure was awesome. The four levels of difficulty provides for a wide range of challenges for you. I got as far as the intermediate. Humbling but lots of fun. We got the pass that let us also do the big ziplines, which was actually helpful for the course. You definitely want to lean back so you don't twist up and miss the rope! No safety risk there, but no one wants to wait, hanging there, until help comes along. Good luck!

Its always a pleasure seeing the animals. Great to get out and explore the bit of nature that we have here. Was bummed not all the exhibits were open but the staff still made it fun. Very knowledgable. Cant wait till everything gets back to normal.

Lots of animals, parks to play in for the kids, animals are well taken care of, and the zoo is clean. The Bronx Zoo also has a lot of programs to breed endangered species. Wednesday is the free day.

There are so many animals to see at this zoo that it'll be difficult to see them all in one day. The dinosaur safari was decent but it wasn't worth the extra cost or the long lines. If you come early in the day especially on the weekend, there will be plenty of street parking. Overall, this zoo is a great way to spend a day with your kids.

Just wonderful. It is pricey but some of these animals eat 200 pounds a day. Then, remember, Wednesday's are free, so that you don't have to be wealthy to experience it. But oh my, the depth of this place is beyond explanation. We spent 6 hours here and felt we could spend 6 days. If you have a passing interest in reptiles for example then the reptile house is phenomenal. If you've always wanted to see a rain forest, then you will. The tigers and the snow leopards were just great. And I am only scratching the surface in my description. Nice and clean. Cafe food better than expected. Loved it! What an experience.

Great escape from city environment. Spacious, beautiful landscapes, interactive as well. Cafe at Asian cafe has limited seating, limited food options and bathrooms could use bit more upgrade with changing stations. But monorails are always fun, can see the animals up close. This place is always our go to during summer. You might not be able to cover entire zoo in one day if kids involved. Check the shuttle schedules and stops and plan accordingly. Shuttles are the best way to access all sections. And have a map handy, even if it's a soft copy.

This is a world class place. The gorilla exhibit alone you can spend a few hours watching them. Highly recommend for families as a day trip. Get there early to avoid the crowds and go on an off day like a early weekday.
