Great zoo!! It wasn't too crowded. Lost of animals to see. We loved the children's zoo area, my son loved being able to take a family picture holding the chicken! We purchased our tickets in advance and bought a drink up at the same time and it was totally worth it! I would have to say if you can bring your own stroller I'd recommend that we rented one and it wasn't in the best shape. The monorail was a great part of the zoo experience! While inside the zoo you cannot even tell your in the middle of a thriving city.

We had a wonderful time here. Everything is clean and well maintained and I love how they donate to conservation of endangered species in the wild. Staff members are very friendly. However, paying extra and then standing in line for an hour and 45 minutes for the dinosaur safari was completely not worth it.

Great place to bring kids. There's a wide variety of animals to see and plenty of beautiful scenery. There's also a lot of ground to cover so be ready to spend a day on your feet and don't be surprised if you don't see everything in one day!

Having just been to the San Diego Zoo, I couldn't give the Bronx Zoo 5 stars. It's still a great place to bring the family for day. The children's zoo section was super fun for my toddlers. I highly recommend just getting a WCS membership which includes admission to the 4 zoo's, the NY Aquarium and parking.

....Loved the experience up close with wild life. Great for families, but watch your kids...they can easily get excited. Plan for photography sessions, wild life toys and check out the food courts. Highly recommended

The most amazing urban zoo! As a native Bronx girl who now has two kids, I'm so happy to be able to take my kids here regularly. It's the best recreational and eductional experience in NYC....and its an awesome work out walking around the grounds.

I LOVED THE ZOO, staff members were very nice and the weather was cool so wearing a mask was no problem, i had a problem with my tickets and they were able to help me right away over email and fixed the mistake i had made, great job to everyone at the zoo keep it up

I don't like giving this a 3-star, but I feel strongly that these folks need a better zoo than what they're getting. The layout is great, and visitors can appreciate the history of this expanse of land. There are a fair amount of exhibits throughout the park although our experience was that sightings of many were infrequent. It could have been the weather...

What struck me, though, was the unkempt appearance throughout most of the pathways. I suspect there may be some budget shortfalls that restrict diligent upkeep. But, this isn't an examination of the books.

If the walkways could be kept up with, and their surfaces redone (asphalt now), it would make a noticeable difference.

I have seen this zoo on the tube a ton , when we were there it seemed smaller as in the animals needed way more room , so within that if their living space was larger we probably won't see them

Lots of fun. I would advise you take the monorails and the train for a nice assortment of exhibits without walking around the entire zoo. The zoo has tons of animals to check out from all over the world. Bring water and snacks or buy them from the near by deli

Took the family to the Bronx Zoo. All the animal exhibits were top notch. We really enjoyed the Giraffes, Congo (gorillas), and Camel rides. The new Dinosaur ride also a good time. Biggest complaint was the large crowds - but hey this is New York and to be expected.

We went on a Wednesday and it was the worst mistake. There was so many people that we could hardly even walk around. I can see it is a big place and has lots of animals but we could not enjoy them at all. Bathrooms were not as clean as you would wish for and food was super expensive. All and all it just was not worth the long trip for us.

I haven't been here since my oldest son was two years old. He and I had a great time. I even forgot I was in the city, I remember looking up and seeing apartment buildings and wondering how they got there, lol.

I own a home within walking distance of the Bronx Zoo otherwise known as the New York Zoological Society Bronx Zoo which has been around since 1898. The reason for the four star is the following:

First off there's only one day in the week when the zoo is free however they encourage you to make a donation and they look at you kind of weird if you don't make a donation. Furthermore pack a lunch is very expensive to dine in the Bronx Zoo and it's not worth the money you're not that far from the Italian business district which has an assortment of restaurants and bistros to satisfy your appetite.

There is a fee for parking however you may want to get to the zoo very early in order to get a good parking position you might want to get there up to 2 hours literally before the zoo opens because of the traffic that generates at this location. During the summer months it could be very crowded and if you're dealing with small children keep this in mind.

Wednesday the entrance to the zoo is free, but it doesn't includes the lion, tiger, elephant, gorillas, monkeys and giraffe exhibitions. If you want to see these, then you have to pay the ticket. Have seen better zoo than this.

This place is awesome eith the kids. Spent the whole day and still didn't see everything! The only thing is that it is relatively expensive for a family of.five. Food is also highly priced but you can bring your own food with you and save 60 bucks! Worth to get the membership!

I absolutely love the Bronx Zoo. 40+ years of visiting since I was a child and a member for half that time.

BUT... My one HUGE complaint of this last visit is the unpreparedness of the park and its staff for their parking. In all my years of visiting, I have never seen it this bad, all lots closed and no proper information from staff on where to go - no active number to call for updates or anyone with any proper info at the gates. I am originally from the area, so I knew where to park safely and for free, but my family still had to hike back to the park in the heat - only to find they were now allowing car to park! Aggravating at the least. We wasted a third of our day trying to park somewhere which seriously cut into our visit time.

Went on Wednesday to keep it cheap (its donate what you want). You also have to pay more for additional park areas so be careful when you walk in to an area, they may make you pay more.

The problem with Donate what you like is that is makes the place really full. The exhibits are crowded and difficult to see with everyone scrambling to see the exhibits. There was a few times my kids walked away complaining about getting shoved out of the way or someone cutting in front of them before they could see something.

The exhibits themselves are abundant and you could spend an entire day there. The staff members seem to be genuinely invested in the animals which is great.

We brought our own food in to eat but there are cafes there to eat and expect to pay the normal outrageous prices for that food. There are a few water fountains throughout the park that you can fill up a water bottle. Parking is $17.

I just love visiting the Bronx Zoo. With all that's going on nowadays, it feels really nice to be able to get together with family and friends and spend a day strolling around the zoo admiring all of the animals. It's really nice.

My Kids love this place. We have been Members for a decade. We just wished that management awakens to the new realities and start providing healthy, nutritious food for children and adults. The food continues to be of low quality and the abundance of nasty burgers, deep fried fast food and French fries is mind-bugling. There is nothing good to eat. I hope they don t treat the animals like that! They can take this up a notch and make it the premier World-class institution so tourists leave NYC with an opinion better than fast food capital of the world.
