The times I have come, a lot of the animals were keep in and we weren t able to see! Overall pretty empty. Animal wise! The children place offer a lot of small spaces with creative games! My kids like it there! Ok place to walk, almost like a park! The camel ride we loved!

Wonderful place for people of all ages. My kids loved the train ride that takes you thru various animal enclosures.
Be prepared for a long day of walking around. The zoo is big enough to keep you entertained for the whole day.
Only disappointment is that with every passing year they exclude additional attractions from the general ticket and charge extra. Don t understand how an animal enclosure can require additional ticket within a zoo for which you have already paid.

It's been years since I visited but my youngest (14) went earlier this month with his day camp group. We had a fun time today, despite the heat. Saw lots of animals, learned and laughed. Enjoyable time with him while my husband and older son are out of town. You can bring in food and drink which saves a bunch of money. With a larger family and/or located closer to zoo, I'd recommend the membership. Go early when the animals are more active and the crowds smaller.

The zoo itself was fantastic .the exhibits were so awesome a few complaints 1. Only 1 place to eat was open at noon.. 2. the dinosaur "tour guide" Vivian was rude and not knowledgeable at all. Just kept quoting movies... I will come again but skip the dinosaurs and bring lunch

Loved this zoo. I would definitely come back. I went during the passport to the world event. I love the diversity. Good music. There was a lot of animal activity the day I went. Definitely need a full day to see everything.

It's crowded and not cheap (and lacks panda bears) but it's a great zoo, fun 'extras' like the treehouse, and I thought waiting for the Dino Safari was worth it. The sign says '1 hour 45 minutes wait' but we waited about 50 minutes. Also not hard to access via public transportation. Bring your own food. Wish there were more drinking fountains

I loved visiting this zoo. The exhibts looked great for the animals and allowed us to be able to see them. The seals were great being able to walk all around their area. The Asian monorail was a unique experience to see a lot of aninals. The all inclusive tickets are definitely worth the price. There were a lot of unique animals there too. There were also a lot of bird that could fly free so bring a hat especially in the penguin area.

I know that this a world famous zoo but honestly the southern boulevard entrance and a number of exhibits were difficult to find (even with a zoo map) and some exhibits were even disappointing (e.g. the small...for that size zoo... butterfly gardens and the constant pacing tiger). Be prepared to do lots and lots and lots of walking up and down gentle (not some not so gentle) hills. Additionally be prepared to wait 10 to 20 minutes for shuttles and the monorail (unless u happen to luck out...we didn't). The animals and exhibits were good mostly but a lot of effort was spent to see them.

Spacious and a whole different world. Parking can be a disaster on free days that collide with religious festivals, and the lines for everything can last hours, but the wide spaces and exotic animals transports you to a whole different place inside the Bronx.

Brought my family there and was extremely satisfied. Large area in the middle of the city does a wonderful job of letting you forget your in the heart of New York. Great displays, wonderful open area in the bird exhibits. Good range of animals and plenty of them. They also has a great kids area and activities and also serve beer. We didn't get to see it all but absolutely will return to explore the rest!

My review is of the Holiday lights Show at the Bronx Zoo. The tickets are pretty expensive. Our were over $30 and we received a senior citizen discount. Parking is another $17.50 which makes this a pretty expensive outing. However, there were lots of kids who seemed to love the creative lighting displays of the giraffes, elephants along with the lions and monkeys. The fact is the light show was pretty brilliantly done.

This is a terrible zoo. I found it particularly unpleasant to watch dozens of people shine powerful phone lights on the nocturnal animals in low light areas, which is extremely distressing for those animals. No-one from the zoo was present inside any of the rooms this happened in to moderate people's behaviour. It's also a shame that there is so much foliage that you can't see most of the animals without going into confined viewing spaces. These are completely filled with summer school parties. The overall impression is that this was a good zoo in the 1980s and that no money has been spent on it since, aside from new food concessions here and there. It seems to be waiting for a wealthy benefactor to come along and fund a transformation ... which won't happen unless this place gets a grip on how to run a humane, informative zoo in this day and age.

Had an amazing experience at the Bronx zoo that no other zoo has, special encounters. We met the coolest cat, Triton and a porcupine named Wednesday. Definitely recommend booking a special encounter with these amazing animals. Not only do you learn how they are being conserved but your money helps fund the WCS.

The bronx zoo has a big varieties of animals. We were there for over two hours and we didnt get to see everything. We got the general admission for 23.95 each person. Next time when we go we likely just get the whole experience ticket because we missed out on so many fun exhibits at the zoo. The traffic on the way there and back was terrible but that has nothing to do with the zoo. We had alot fun while we were there.

If you like poorly maintained exhibits and smell of poo - you will really like this place. They have more gift shops and overpriced junk food places than animals. Interactive exhibits are all broken. Zoo is unnecessarily large, and requires a lot of walking without much to see along the way. It has very few animals. Boring.

Great place. Scheduled our time. No problems parking and getting in. Lots to do and see safely outdoors. Everyone wearing masks and socially distancing. Like a nice hike in the woods with plenty of animals to see at each stop. Gorillas were a great source of entertainment! Had to wait in a long line to go in due to limited numbers of people for safety during Covid. The line moved quickly though. Would definitely do again.

Love to bring kid to this zoo even during pandemic. Not many people during weekdays. A great blend of outdoor and indoor places, which made cold weather or rainy days not so bad. Animals are lovely. Cafeteria is open serving great food, but outdoor dinning only with beautiful peacocks around.

they need more employees in the exhibits. the only employee in site in any exhibit was the butterfly garden. visitors were shining flashlights in rodents eyes and screaming at sleeping animals. it s the zoos responsibility to make sure animals are taken care of and not abused. especially considering most bird exhibits have no glass or any protection between the people and the animals.

We went on a Wednesday and it wasn t that bad.We were able to see all of the exhibits and we really enjoyed it.We gave our donation and purchased the tickets to go into the exhibits you have to pay for.
The good thing about the zoo is that you can take a cooler in the park to defray the cost of purchasing a $4.00 water or drinks. And you can bring lunch in.
Try to get there early because after 3 the park was so packed that you could barely walk or see anything.
And go on a cool day!!

Not what I expected at all and definitely worth going back. A wide range of animals in roomy habitats. The "free-range" peacocks roaming around made my day! Good for a date or an afternoon with the family. I nerded out hard on the big cat section. Hoping to see more exhibits in the spring.

It was a super nice experience ideally to have a nice weekend with your family or friends. Also if you are a CUNY student the tickets are totally free. But remember to donate at least one dollar for the beatiful animals.

The Bronx Zoo has been one of my favorite places to go for over 50 years. I am a member and I have participated in many events such as clean up and save certain animals marches. I have participated with my children and now my grandchildren and other family members and my friends. I've learned a lot about the animals because I always read the facts they have there about the animals, they feel like a part of my family. There is always something new or old to see. I LOVE THE BRONX ZOO!!!

This is one of the best places around for families. I mean, you can't go wrong, especially if you buy the membership, which you should, because if you go twice, it pays for itself. The membership offers you parking, which is so convenient. My family loves going here.

Minus 1 star because they can't manage the large crowds sometimes. The line for special exhibits was 1-2 hours! But, but, but- it's still one of the best zoos in the United States. It's very well laid out, there's so much to see. You can stay there all day! Everyone in our family- ages 2 to 15 to 48 loves it!

Amazing !!! The zoo is very large but can be walked off or you can take shuttles in a park. So many animals are there ,even polar bear was there too.

You can spend a day here with your family or kids.

You can see peacocks are wandering around , get a good pic :)

There is a canteen Available if you feel drinking / eaty any thing.

It's a long walk , so make sure you get water bottom with you.

Restrooms are available and it's not bad.

You can park on street, or in their parking lot.

You can also find butterfly garden here which is pretty cool.

I posted some pics, hope you find it helpful. :)

This is a perfect wildlife. What do you want to see? African Jungle animals ? Asian or Australian wildlife ? You might get everything here. From African Somba Village to South Asian Bengali Expression, all represented here. It is very clean and organized. Panda from China also available here. They have several parking lots. It is not free- You got to pay for it. Sea lion is another attraction. You can bring your kids. There are things for kids. It is wheel chair accessible. The good news is it free on every Wednesday ! A must see zoo in New York City!

The Bronx Zoo definitely lives up to the largest Metropolitan zoo in the US. The exhibits are very well designed. Must get the total experience package. Great customer service. We went here on a Monday and not all the eateries were opened. So make sure you get food the first eatery you see that is open.
