I would almost consider this a hidden gem. This small, rustic Italian restaurant is my go-to for Italian when I'm in midtown or Hell's Kitchen. It's so small you can walk by without noticing.
The menu is quite large and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Lots of wine to choose from and the staff is always friendly.

The most ATROCIOUS EXPERIENCE- through Covid, you think you d actually want to keep your customers! Ordered late, but you re still open, so I m expecting quality prepared food. Instead, I received an OPEN dish, like the top literally wasn t even snapped on, to a plate that looked like left overs to someone else s dinner. One piece of broccoli rabe, CARROTS in the dish (why?) and less than a full sausage. I also asked for napkins and a fork, really hard request to fulfill right guys?Ridiculous. I ve worked as a general manager in restaurants for years, and I understand wanting to go home after a late night and a rush, but this? This is completely unacceptable on all levels. I left a voicemail so I m expecting a call back from the management ASAP.

The food is very tasty. The place is small and so be prepared to sit at a community table, shoulder to shoulder with other people. The service leaves something to be desired for not being polite to the customer.

I have been coming here for 3 years and have not stopped. This is a Hell's Kitchen gem and the perfect spot for casual and delicious Italian with some wine. The communal seating is fun and always a great way to meet new people. The service is always welcoming, even when busy, and quality never fails.

Briciola is my local spot that I show off to all my friends.

Wine bar/tapas with a great communal table. Decor with the bookshelves, subway tiles, and wine bottles is beautiful. Food is excellent. From the bread, to the mozzarella and prosciutto, to the homemade pasta with a veal ragu. Love this place.

This place blew me away. The pasta is so fresh and delicious. In addition to their everyday menu, they have a long list of daily specials. My friend and I went for dinner. The prices were so reasonable for the quality that you receive. We got the Burrata special (with the meat on the side because I m a vegetarian), the fettuccine ai funghi (I have an unhealthy obsession with mushrooms but bias aside, this was by far one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had), the truffle gnocchi special and a bottle of wine. The total came out to only $100. The only con I would say is the space is very tight and loud so I wouldn t recommend it for a group meeting but I think it still makes a great date spot.
If you are looking to expand, I may have some spaces available. Feel free to reach out!

I will definitely be coming here again.

Love this place. Food is delicious, everything I have ordered has been excellent! They have a great wine called Rosso Di Montalcino. Gotta try it! The bartender said it is from Tuscany and it went perfect with my meal. He really knows his stuff :)

On a 3 day weekend trip to New York we went twice. We never go to the same place twice! Wonderful food, great service ..... literally the definition of 5 star service for a surprisingly reasonable price. Go!!!

As others have commented, the owner, and staff, have attitudes not fit for the restaurant industry and I don't welcome this restaurant in my neighborhood. The restaurant is small. Only one person in a party need go in to ask for a table for two so as not to cause traffic and block the legally required fire exit. It's typical in the city for the other to stand just outside. We waited together outside for us to be called but we never were, and the rude people waiting inside blocking the entrance, should not be prioritized when a table finally opens because we were politely waiting just outside on the bench. When we confronted the staff, the staff member showed us to the owner, who cussed us out of the restaurant. I welcome the day this place is replaced.

Had gone multiple times, food is great, but not for the service. It doesn't belong in New York.

It's the best Italian food you can get in Hell's kitchen and the prices will blow your mind, in a good way. It's a cozy space with wine bottles all around you. There's definitely a lack of privacy coz there's only one or two long tables, but the food and the price just beats it.

Be aware this place is TINY! Not a place to bring a large group, during dinner you will be packed elbow to elbow, which can be somewhat uncomfortable

Yet, the service is top-notch and the food excellent. The eggplant and goat cheese appetizer is exceptional and the different pastas are wonderful..

The food is definitely worth coming here for if you can look past the extremely crammed space.

Truly one of my favorite Italian Restaurants in Hells Kitchen! Small and cozy, friendly staff and excellent food at affordable prices. Get here early or you won't get a seat. Recommend Aruglua e Parmiggiano @$12.00, Carciofi e Olive @$12.00, Penne Pesto e Carciofi @$14.00. Tiramisu @$10.00 is just ok, not worth the calories. Espresso is $3.50 and Americano $5.00.

It s more like a bar / small place to eat. Please don t expect it to be a family restaurant.

I think this should be clearly stated on google. I landed here with family and kids only to know that it s got less than 10 chairs and has a complete bar style.

Good to be here if you re by yourself or with 1 friend.

It's with a heavy heart that I have to give them 1 star. Before covid, this was a great little place with delicious food. During covid, the food is simply terrible. I understand everyone is hurting but this is a meal you could find from a school cafeteria. Take the rigatoni e gamberi pictured below - it's got some ragu like sauce and three tiny shrimp mixed in. It tastes as bad as it looks. Unfortunately, this was the theme for all the dishes. They are obviously cutting corners on the ingredients and probably have a busboy doing double duty as the "chef". Avoid until the pandemic is over.

Briciola is owned by the same people behind Aria and Cotenna, and they all feel pretty much like the same nice-but-normal Italian wine bar. Briciola is pretty small, and usually crowded with people on dates or having obligatory catch-up drinks. They have a huge list of inexpensive pastas (all $14), small plates, and a weekday lunch special where you get a glass of house wine and a plate of pasta for $18, if you work in the area at the kind of place where sobriety is somewhat optional on a Friday afternoon.

Perfect cozy place for small plates and wine. Great staff, and excellent food at a very reasonable price overall. The seating is at a community table which I was afraid would be weird, but ended up being great. Highly recommended.

I purchased a belt sander from the store in Los Barrios on a Thursday. the sander was faulty so I returned it the following Monday. They refused to exchange it and they refused to refund me insisting it should be sent for repair. I believe the sander had been repackaged as there was an open plastic bag in the box. I feel I have been stitched up big time and have put in an official complaint but in the man time cannot get on with the jobs I wanted to do.

We wandered into Briciola after seeing a show for a late dinner and loved it! We were quickly seated at the bar in their intimate restaurant with soft candle lighting, wine bottles everywhere, prosciutto hanging from the ceiling, and delicious smells wafting over us. The grilled octopus salad was tasty, and both the lasagna and tortellini hit the spot. Loved this tiny Italian restaurant.

I hate myself for leaving this review but I should for the sake of other customers... :(
First of all, the food were A-MAZING. We ordered Crostini di Pulpo, Cozze Marinate, Linguine Vongole, Lasagne Bolognese, Rigatoni e Gamberi, Prosciutto di San Daniele, and Tiramisu as a dessert. Everything was fresh and tasty.
Also, the staffs were friendly and attentive. Nothing more to ask.
However, when we were left with a bite of tiramisu, there was a freakin huge COCKROACH, literally two-finger big, crawling on the wine cabinet.

Briciola, I love your food and ambience, but if nothing is done to exterminate them, I will no longer go back.... #sorrynotsorry

Atmosphere is intimate due to small space but it works for them. The wine list is all italian ranging from $40 -65 per bottle for some ok wines. Would be good to see some standout local wines from the USA or even another region. They have a reserve list which is slightly better.
Food wise - a good selection of small share plates, salad choices and main course pasta's. However, the quality of the food is the big opportunity for this establishment. Most dishes are slightly over seasoned and too much oil. It would be great to see some simple and fresh selections. Not bad but not worth a special visit - if your in the area then pop in and try it out for yourself.

I usually try not to eat in this area because there's a lot of tourist trap but I didn't have a choice. As the place is beautiful we decided to go to La Briciola but the service was bad and the food was not good neither.
If you are used to good (real) Italian restaurant, don't go there. If you like any pasta or risotto, even though they are covered by too much cream and garlic sauce, you can go ;-)

Wonderful Italian Wine Bar with a tasty menu by Roberto Passon: he & his, the owners of Aria (W. Vill) & Aria Hell's Kitchen (across W 51st St) ... I do miss his past namesake restaurant Limited seating at the bar but maybe there's space on the long high white-tiled table in the nect room or if you're desperate, there is lots of seating at Aria, across the street

Food and drinks menu are the same as the Aria Hell s Kitchen (sister restaurant) across the street. However, the service felt really rushed and we were charged 20% tip automatically because we stayed for more than 1.5 hours . No one had informed us of this policy prior to charging us. Moreover, the atmosphere is way too loud and one can hardly hear oneself think, let alone speak.
If you are looking for a nice dinner and conversation, instead of a quick bite and a drink, this is not the place for you.

Food was good. Portion sizes are small and so is the sitting space, especially for the party of 8 I was with. Only one toilet in the place so if you're a tourist good luck, because they don't want to wait for you to use the bathroom...they were practically pushing us out the door to leave. They cleaned the tables off with the left over bottle of water from our dinner, and our dirty used napkins which grossed me out since sanitizing is essential when food is involved. Wouldn't recommend to a friend, and would not go here again.

To its merit, the atmosphere of this restaurant is very cozy and the food was well done. However, my experience was tainted by the rude service. First, our waiter scoffed at us when we ordered a small amount of wine to share between us for tasting. Later, when I was paying our bill with cash, our waiter (who also seemed to be the manager) came up and told me that gratuity was not included in the check loudly in front of my friends that I was dining with (I was going to leave cash on the table for a tip when we left, as is common practice at typical restraunts). I assume he thought that because we didn't order a huge selection of food and that because were clearly young, we would not include gratuity. For these reasons I do not recommend this establishment. This was the most arrogant service I have ever received and this is the first negative review I have left on Google.

Great tiny wine bar. I'd come here for a date or a catch up. Only fits about 10 or maybe 15 people. You need to order food if u wanna sit at the bar (which is more spacious than the wall).

Good wines. He ll let u sample before committing.

Got the gnocchi. Which was on par w other good gnocchi I've had. Oysters were only a dollar that weekday and they weren't the handselected tiniest of oysters that you'll find at some dollar oyster joints.

Great atmosphere and service. Very reasonable prices and lovely food. Tiny place .. if no room walk just across the street for Aria (same menu) or further down the street toward 8th av where they have a restaurant too - same concept.

What an unpleasant end of our mediocre dinner.

What an unpleasant end of our mediocre dinner.

We are an Italian couple, hence the comments and feedback about the food are well grounded. Also, we live in the States hence we know the good habit of leaving tips.
We must say that the place is cozy and unique (with wine bottles surrounding the walls and dim lights) and the menu itself is quite nice at first glance.
We ordered two glasses of wine, two appetisers (costicine di maiale and bruschetta di porchetta) and a main dish (orecchiette with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe).
The first two glasses of wine were terrible - as acid and sour as they could get, definitely a very low quality of Valpollicella. Obviously, since we did not want to be having stomach pain, after the first sip, my husband and I asked to change them. This change wasn t welcomed by our waitress, who then came back and with a very FAKE SMILE gave us the wine menu again and asked us to choose. But let s move on.

While we wait to ask for the bill (the waitress only came back to ask about dessert and pour water once) no one seemed to be there to attend us. In the mean time, the two South American chefs, were both videos on their iPhones in the open kitchen - I wish it had been a video on how to make a decent orecchiette pasta but I am afraid it wasn t. Unacceptable to see staff minding their own business during working hours.

When paying, we decided to leave only 10% tip for a variety of reasons: the fake smile and attitude of both waitress, the fact that we haven t seen them much during the dinner - even when we had finished everything and our wine glasses were empty.
However the cherry on the cake arrives when the waitress approached my husband at the exit door and said angrily here in America the tip must be 15% even if the service is bad . (Oh really? We are both young professionals and when we do something wrong and do not treat customers properly we don t get any tip.). He then started explaining the reasons why we only left 10% tip and at that point I jumped in to tell them we were living. The last sentence that came from
the waitress was a sound DON T COME BACK ANYMORE .

Unprofessional, rude and mediocre. We won t be coming back, AS YOU CLEARLY STATED, nor recommended to our wide network. There are so many italian places that are worth going to, and that treat customers as they should be treated.

Unprofessional, rude and mediocre.

Fantastic Italian restaurant away from Times Square but still with in walking distance. There is seating at the bar and the restaurant seating is one room with a single long table in the middle. The walls around the table are surrounded by wines and the front window looks out to the street. Great ambience and atmosphere and despite it only being a single table, we found it quite enjoyable talking with the couple seated beside us. The grilled octopus was amazing and so were all of our pasta dishes. To order you circle the items you want on the menu, which I found nice since I would have butchered the names of the dishes. Will definitely return to on our next visit.
