Overrated hotel that hides filth from health inspectors rather than clean them this place is a disaster.
Overrated hotel that hides filth from health inspectors rather than clean them this place is a disaster.
The staff here are amazing. They learned that my wife and I were there for our anniversary so they got us a room with a better view of the boulders.
Great spa, the men's locker room is a little outdated, but great amenities. Dry and wet sauna, soaking pool.
Love the Boulders Spa. Private suites with their own Jacuzzi. Staff is amazing. Services are fantastic. We often get the couples massage or facials. Outdoor fireplaces. Pool only for the spa. Fabulous views. Highly recommended.
So unique. Wonderful staff! Gorgeous grounds/ landscaping. Excellent restaurants. Will definely go back!!!!!
My cousins wedding here was absolutely beautiful! The golf course is immaculate and the grounds are so well kept!
The most scenic golf course in Scottsdale. Greatly maintained and beautiful
Very quiet hotel and spa. Typical amenities Clean. Large boulder on back of property, easy stroll to access it.
The Boulders is a very nice hotel. Everyone is friendly and anything you may need either is on hand or can be provided. Our air conditioning went out and the hotel was out of regular rooms, so they upgraded us to a villa. Great customer service.
Phenomenal! Soooo much better than the Phoenician. First time...but certainly not the last. Hospitality is wonderful. Grounds and facilities are well kept.
Owned by hilton, very understaffed perhaps due to COVID, breakfast took over an hour, the pool with maybe 100 people had a single overworked server. Not enough umbrellas at the pool, amenities in the rooms such as coffee not replaced as there is no room service. Pricy resort fee, pretty views and cool casitas. Not 5 star service, reception host told us to use open table to book a dinner.
Wow. Does anyone notice a pattern here of unauthorized charges to customer credit cards and incredible difficulty getting a refund? What is WRONG with this place and their robotic response of "We appreciate your feedback". No, you don't.
Lovely scenery, great place to slow down and breathe.
We enjoyed our stay here. Great staff. The pool was nice - although very crowded. Lots of privacy with respect to our room near the Duck Pond. Good food on property and lots of additional options just minutes away in Cave Creek.
I love the look of the grounds for this hotel! It s beautiful. The staff is amazing. However the rooms could use some updating. The bathroom was very nice but the main bedroom was definitely lacking. I think the main issue are the beds. They are so plain.
Highly recommend this resort!
Stayed in one of the casitas fOr my friends birthday weekend and had the best time. The Boulders is tucked away in Carefree on a golf course and it made me feel like we were in another world. They take you around the property on golf carts so you don t have to worry about trekking around with your bags in the heat. We hung out by the pool and were able to enjoy the namesake Boulders. I would recommend this place for a staycation or as a getaway for the golfer in your life. Super cute resort. Enjoy your stay!
Third time visitor. Worst experience we have ever had. Smell of rotting, decaying flesh which kept us out of the master suite. Not to mention what we think were roof rats. Boulders and Hilton only said "we are sorry, please come back." Don't think so.
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful place for some time away. Spa is amazing !
My daughters stay started out with her crying because of a hidden fee, although she booked thru a 3rd party, which left her upset and the manager Kristine was not very professional about the situation. She kept trying to overtalk me and I ended up telling her how unprofessional it was. They will never get any of our service again. Too expensive for what she paid for.
The staff here are phenomenal, the service is incredible and there's always someone nearby ready to help you with anything you need and do it with a smile. The food was outstanding (although pricey), the room was large and well kept, and the property was beautiful with plenty to do and plenty to eat. The only complaints I have are that we requested the tea to be refilled in our room a few times and consistently got coffee and no tea. Additionally, the shower door was missing a handle and you had to open the door holding a screw in the glass. The lights outside of our unit weren't working properly and we had to use flashlights to make our way back at night. The bellboy that delivered us to our room on the first night said this "happens sometimes" and moved on with his day.
Staff was excellent-super friendly and helpful! We arrived super early and they allowed us to check in right away no questions asked (it was before 11am). The room was beautiful. We spent almost every day/evening at the pool where we had amazing food and cocktails. Very scenic atmosphere, great food options, great golf course, all around wonderful place I d recommend to anyone!!
Beautiful place! ALL the staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the resort and amenities...
You can text or call the front desk for a ride or help...
Beautiful room! Spacious and clean...
LOVED the pools! Perfect water temperature, clean and peaceful.
Great overall resort. All of the amenities are fairly spread out where walking will take some time. Rides from the bellmen are available on request to and from your room and are very timely.
Stay clear!!! Just so very inadequate. Surprisingly unfriendly staff at times. Everything is shut down, but that does not change the price. It was a hassle to get towels and other necessities, they would just apologize and then bring the wrong stuff. Over $500 a night is 100% not worth it. Super unhappy, would never recommend!
Absolutely beautiful desert resort. Comfortable rooms with sophisticated southwestern style. The grounds and amenities are spread out a bit but there are carts and shuttles always available to drive you around. The spa facilities are wonderful.
I didn't get the opportunity to experience the spa or gym but it looked great and appeared to have a lot of footfall.
The management are rude and pushy. If you dont belong to their clique they belittle you and treat you like you are less than the trash blowing around in their parking lot.
From the time we pulled up! And we are still here..SPA TIME!!!! I have to say...Sean ...I had the Safe and Rose Emotional detox treatment..and I have to say when he shook my hand and introduced him self the energy was immediate..he has a gift..he explained everything before and when he was providing the treatment...I was blown away by his knowing exactly what to do..I am coming. Back and I hope he is there..4th time there I love in California and if one for the turquoise wrap. My all time fav but you don't have that anymore even tho it's on the menu! but Sean was meant to be...Keep doing what you're doing Sean you have know idea how what you did helped me in my grief...
One of the most unique Resorts I have stayed at. Service is top notch, Spa is beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone.
Very nice. Got a massage and a body wrap. Enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam room. Very relaxing and comfortable environment. Definitely recommend.
The main entrance was very nice and we received a friendly greeting at the guard house. The short drive to the lobby was pretty cool and had nice desert scenery. We checked in via the Hilton app earlier in the day as we read other reviews that mentioned it was best to secure a casita that was a standalone unit, as some units have a bottom and upper floor and you can hear the people above you. The check in process was ok. The person was very nice although when we asked if any upgrades were available, they made a big deal about us already choosing a room through the app and seemed confused as to why we were asking for an upgrade. Well, there were upgrades available but the person didn t understand how exactly to properly communicate how in fact they were upgrades? After 10 minutes of going back and forth trying to understand what designated an actual upgrade, we just kept the room we originally chose through the app. Luckily we overhead the other staff member telling guests what the next steps were after checking in as our person just said enjoy your stay and had us on our way. After checking in, the gentlemen up front will lead you in a golf cart to the parking lot where they help you unload your car and then drive you to your room via the golf cart. A really cool setup, just wish more of an explanation was given otherwise we would have been wondering how on earth we got to our room with all our bags since we can t drive right up to your room with your own car. Brad was our person who helped us with our bags and he was awesome. We had a great conversation from our car to the room and he helped us bring everything in the room and showed us around. We stayed in room 207 and the unit was very nice. It was spacious, the bathroom was huge with two sinks, and the sitting area itself had plenty of room for us to spread out. The bed was also very comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. The floors were all stone so you might want to utilize the slippers in the closet if you re coming in the winter months. The view was ok outside on our patio, it just overlooked the pathway and a few other units. It always seemed to be very busy with golf carts coming and going so maybe that s just because our unit was somewhat close to the entrance of the North casitas.
Overall our stay was very good although the reason for giving our experience 3 stars is due to the pool and also the fact that there were a ton of pathway lights that weren t working. Some of the pathways were pitch black at night as two or three lights that were supposed to light up the pathway were broken/no bulbs/just needed a bulb replacement? Regardless, there were too many pathway lights that weren t working throughout the entire resort and for the price to stay here, I was shocked that isn t something they haven t addressed ASAP. There are only two pools for the entire resort, one by the lobby and one by the golf clubhouse. I was utterly shocked by the size of the main lobby pool, it was no bigger than some of the personal pools back home. And for this to be the main pool for hundreds of guests to share was just a complete shock. All of the other resorts in this area have multiple pool areas that are giant, so I m not sure how Boulders missed the mark on this, especially since pool season is arguably year round. Plus we came in October, so COVID is definitely still a thing, and there was no spacing of lounge chairs or other seating around the pool and every lunge/chair was full so it was a cluster when we tried going. They even had large signs attached to the gates when entering the pool area stating to social distance but clearly nobody did and no staff bothered to enforce their own guidelines. Maybe they should start having a capacity limit at the pool to adhere to social distancing guidelines?
If you re wanting a nice resort that s secluded and have no plans on using the pool, then this would be a perfect place to stay.
Great experience, good services and excellent room but some complication with breakfast
A beautiful and peaceful resort that captures the essence and spirit of the desert. Makes for a perfect vacation or romantic getaway.
Came here to accompany my daughter for a conference. Such a beautiful place, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If I come back to the Phoenix area, I will make the effort to stay here, even if it's out of my way.
We made a reservation for my family of 6 with a gift certificate for a room with 2 double beds and a roll away and then my reservation was cancelled after about 30 minutes and I was told that roll-aways are not allowed and that my family was too large for the room. I asked them to provide a room to accommodate 2 adults and 4 children and they told me it would cost several hundred dollars more.
Pretty good Great Staff. Definitely need better restaurants on site.
It's a very lovely place. The facilities are lovely and staff are very friendly and helpful. 10/10 would reccomend
It felt like glamping! Which was awesome for me! The casitas have the look and feel of an upscale lodge. They're very spacious and comfortable. Perfect for getting in that outdoorsy fix in luxury style. Gorgeous views you can't get as close to anywhere else.
The Boulders Resort & Spa is located north of Scottsdale in Carefree on the edge of the Sonoran Desert. It has two golf courses and a swimming pool.
You will find an oasis of calm in a typical desert landscape with rock formations. It is a region where every traveler can spend a relaxing and restful time. The entertainment program is well taken care of by the golf courses belonging to the resort, culinary specialties in the connected restaurants and various possibilities for day trips.
I only discovered this resort by chance on an internet search, read the reviews of other guests with interest and let it inspire me to visit.
I was unfairly charged for smoking in the room for one I do not smoke. My father who was accompanying does on the other hand and with that said I can assure you he didn t smoke in the room as I suffer from asthma and can no way be around smoke. As it happens there was no ash tray on the patio and my father not wanting to litter put out the cigarette out side and disposed of the remains in the garbage can. Does that warrant a over two hundred dollar penalty? I can not feature such a charge for something so insignificant. Upon calling the resort I was rudely told that they have the evidence and will not retract the charge and it s the attitude and lack of judgment are the reasons why I will never be staying at this establishment ever ever again.... beware of the nonsense this place is capable of... don t make the mistake I did and get Shanghaied by these clowns... it s is a shadow of its once greatness and not worth it.... also a lot of wild pigs that are not bashful about running up to you for food.... and I m not talking about the staff I mean actual pigs.... and how does a 5 star resort only cost $140 a night? That should have thrown a red flag....
Played the South course. Would play here again. Members and guests alternate between two 18s. The course is well maintained. Friendly staff. Good, satisfying food and service at both bar and restaurant.
I came here for a work conference, but I definitely want to come back and check out everything this resort offers! There's so much to do you have to spend at least a week to get through it all! Also the scenery is just fantastic! Being environmentally conscious, I was concerned about the golf course lawns being so green in a desert, but they use reclaimed water to water the lawns so it's a huge plus!
Fantastic dessert resort, you can see so many stars at night and hear the coyotes howling, it s very relaxing
Even though there were many areas of renovations going on, my husband and I had a fantastic time at The Boulders. The service is impeccable. The room was spacious. The concierge was incredibly helpful given we had never been to Arizona before. The golf courses were in amazing condition. We definitely plan on going back in the future.
Our stay was fine but we did not love it. The design of the house was not very practical. Very limited space for the two beds, which were very small (matrimonial), other places usually have Queen beds. I would have preferred a sofa instead of two individual armchairs. The television (above the fireplace) is very small and far from the beds. With the TV away and the color of the lyrics of the guide you could not read the lyrics very well. I was disappointed that I could not access the gym because it was in the spa and it was closed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. We also did not like that it is designed to be carried everywhere in the golf carts. Everything is far away and there is no parking near the cottages. :) Apart from all that, the area is very private and the property is very beautiful. The most friendly staff were the drivers of the carts. Once I could access the gym the next day I could enjoy the steam and sauna in the locker room.
Beautiful spa, lots of amenities, the cafe has a great lunch menu. Clean, friendly staff, smells lovely. Overall great spa! The weather was in the 70's and the pool was nice and warm.
Great place, capital are nicely furnished. Great views, super helpful staff. One of the best resorts in the phoenix area.
Loved it. A bit tricked out for a first timer, but definitely headed back. Fairways and greens in good shape, views were awesome. Pick.your tee box carefully... there's alot of elevation and a fair amount of blinds. PoP was good given timw of day and # on the course 4h15m. At time greens top 5 in the area. Play off season and save big$$.
For $400 per night staying in a room (not a suite, only a room), I was expecting more than 1. two full size beds 2. hair in the tub 3. broken drainage of the tub 4. a mechanic smelled like a chimney coming to fix the drainage (BTW, he did not fix it; he only pulled the stopper a little higher and it took a long time to drain the water). Breakfast in Palo Verde Grill was plain, nothing special.
The front desk lady asked how our stay was when we were checking out; we paused for two seconds and told her that we were disappointed. She, too, paused for two seconds then proceeded to give us the bill/invoice.
I gave two stars because I wanted to give this hotel a benefit of the doubt. We did not play golf, go to the spa, or eat dinner there so I have no idea if those services would be better.
I went to the Boulders spa for the first time and my experience was great. I did an hour massage followed by an hour facial. The massage was very relaxing and facial was the best part. Jennifer did a pumpkin facial and it was perfect. She was well informed on each product, what it was good for and she wasn't pushy on buying the products.
The staff was amazing, especially Tim. Literally every staff member went above and beyond during our stay. The resort was also kid friendly and the rooms are spacious. There was so much to do and see, we had to extend our stay two more days. Overall I would highly recommend this place. The food, drinks and staff were great. The room and amenities... even better.
The rooms are spacious, light, and airy. The desert scenery is pleasant. The food is good.
The hot air balloon ride was a novel experience, though I wouldn't feel the need to keep doing it.
Been to a lot of places and this is one of the best. The "casitas" (spelling??) are far better than any hotel room. Location is one of a kind and the pools and grounds are all amazing. My wife had a broken foot...thank you to all the cart drivers that drove us everywhere while on site. They would be at our door within 5 minutes of calling....absolute perfect service.
Make sure you go to Mercedes for your next mani and pedi!
Rude with late checkout rules. Otherwise, great staff and beautiful course. Highly recommend for smaller to mid-sized events..
Great room. They could use a few more taps at the pub, but they have an awesome concierge that ll point you to the Irish pub. It s basically like staying in the Dragoon Mountains, excepts there is a golf cart that can take you anywhere on site you want to go. Definitely need to check out the spa.
Really nice resort, perfect if you just want to relax. My two complaints are the drinks are very weak which is disappointing for a $12 rum and coke. Second, the Spotted Donkey, the super nice Mexican restaurant is very mehhhh, no better than Chevys.
Stunning resort in an unlikely location, away from the hubbub of the city lights and traffic. The Spa is a main highlight, with an amazing pool area, cafe and herb garden. Attention to detail is carefully understated, with nichos and vigas decorated with zen quality.
Went for golf. Amazing course with picturesque views
Worst experience I have had with a place that labels itself a resort. They seem to be understaffed and the front desk staff just repeated the words "I apologize" as he explained they only had one bell staff working and there was a fifteen minute wait to get to our room at night. This was topped by our hot water disappearing completely (as in no flowing water) and front desk saying they called engineering but no one ever came to our door. I discovered the problem only by venturing around the property and finding a gentleman making repairs to a water line. The front desk had no idea what was happening and we received no notification that the water would be turned off. Rooms seem outdated. Only found one friendly staff member out of everyone we dealt with. His name was Bob.
Staff was great from front gate to registration and shuttles .Stayed 2 nights had a few concerns and mention to manager in the morning and she took care of everything with great attitude and definately saved the day will be back in cooler weather to enjoy the trails perhaps and scenery a plus .Thank you. Wish I had taken young lady name that helped
I would like to that the staff at the Boulder for a great week of conferences. Everyone was pleasant and attentive to the needs of the group, the meals were good, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would like to Wing Ting Chung and Karim Morrison for being awesome front desk staff. Thank you for taking care of my very small issue. I look forward to the next trip back to this resort.
The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The location offers amazing views and clean, unique accommodations.
Exceptional golf course and staff. If this place is not on your bucket list than your not a true golfer. This course was stunning, beautiful, with a creative layout with amazing natural boulders around the course. Would play again 1,000 times.
One of my fav resorts anywhere. Almost like a desert nature preserve. Tranquil and peaceful. Recent room renovations were very well done. Great spa. Immaculately maintained grounds. Was my 2nd time staying there, not likely the last!
Wonderful staycay!! Incredibly kind staff, accommodations were so comfortable and relaxing. Great place to recharge.
Everything and everyone was amazing from the moment we arrived and until we checked out.
So, I m not sure we just had a string of bad luck or this is how the resort operates... We wanted to celebrate my birthday so we booked an overnight here. Upon checkin, we were given a room and then were told it actually wasn t available and that they didn t have one ready yet. We arrived around 2:45pm and with checkin being at 4pm, we understood and went to the pool. 4pm comes around and I call... room still isn t ready so they give us a $50 credit. Fine. 5pm rolls around and we call and the room still isn t ready. Okay, at this point we need some sort of explanation and were told they were short on cleaning staff. They gave us $150 credit... this is great and all but considering how long we were at the pool, we more than made up that difference getting waters and beverages. She told my husband she was going to call the cleaning staff to see where they were with it and he said he would just hold rather than wait for a call back. Fast forward 30 seconds later - voila! Our room was ready!
We get to our room and it s wonderful. We get ready to order room service just to find out that they re not doing room service. Bummer but that s my fault for not looking into that in advance. So, we order takeout from The Spotted Donkey. My husband walks up there to pick it up and walks back. Gets to the room and... no silverware. Keep in mind, these walks are long due to how large the property is. So I call them hoping they can drop some off. Nope. The restaurant has policies where they cannot do that but we could have a bellman drive us to and from there... great, so we have to pay to go get silverware because we would have to tip the gentleman for driving us. I decide to just call the front desk to see if they have silverware and she says they do and will bring it immediately. 30 min later... no silverware. I call and she says she will look into and get over to us... you guessed it, immediately. It has now been 10 minutes since my last call and now silverware and cold food. Lastly, when I got up in the morning I was looking forward to sipping coffee on our patio only to find out that only decaf and green tea was stocked in our room. At that point, I told my husband we should just checkout and go to breakfast elsewhere.
Not to mention with all of the bad service, the spa is shut down and they don t do room service.
We most likely will not be returning unfortunately. I would recommend another resort in the Phoenix Metro Area because there are several amazing ones.
The boulders is an amazing property, with many spaces to visit, and do recreational activities. I was celebrating anniversary weekend this past one, and they messed up my reservation, giving a 2 bed room when paid for a king size bed. After complaining three times, got the new room, and moved to the opposite side of the resort to the new room the next day. Unfortunately, i found roaches in the new room, when stated that it was recently just cleaned... i know this is an outside resort environment but roaches ... is a pest control issue.
Sad that it didnt fullfit our expectations.
From room, food, service, staff and amenities incredibly beautiful and very relaxing place! A paradise in a desert!
Amazing landscape and views. Helpful courteous staff and amazing facilities.
Great place for a work conference.
