Uniquely Cats took a look at my senior cat a couple of weeks ago due to some sneezing with discharge. It was her first visit to this veterinarian clinic, and the vet technician took a look at her. During the exam, there was no talk about finances or any estimates on the work done. Furthermore, they tested for things that my previous vet already checked for, at astronomical rates. Even though Uniquely Cats pulled the records for all of the past medical history, I was still required to pay for ancillary tests.
The bill came out to $590.91 for a two-hour visit.
I called them about these charges. They were unable to explain them to me in a transparent manner. They offered to book a 'free' appointment with their 'head of medicine' to describe the charges. I don't understand how they were unable to explain these charges on the phone, as this seemed to be a regular new client visit. I told the receptionist that it wouldn't be free for me, as I would still have to spend my time and money on transportation. She laughed at me. I guess it is laughable in light of the enormous $600 fee.
Uniquely Cats is price adjusting based on their clientele and was unable to provide any consolation when I called them. I believe they took advantage of me because, at the time, I didn't understand what kind of tests my cat needed. Instead of hearing any viable explanation, our conversation, which lasted 20 minutes, consisted of us going in circles. Any establishment that isn't able to explain why service was so expensive shouldn't be trusted. This 'vet clinic' is no exception.
Instead of directly answering the question that I posed, Uniquely Cats decided to nitpick my analogies and acted like I had no idea what I was talking about. There seems to be a theme of condescending communication at this vet. I felt like I was treated like a child. For $600, I expect my voice to be heard, not pushed under the rug.
When you walk into Uniquely Cats, it looks more like a 5-star hotel than a vet clinic. They're able to spend enormous amounts of money on the interior because of their shady business practices and ability to scam new clients into running unnecessary and expensive tests.
After the results came back from the lab, they were forwarded to two different vets, and both said that the cat was fine, and her levels were in check. However, Uniquely Cats told me that I needed to run more expensive tests on my cat. They wanted me to run a $278 GI test, which doesn't make any sense considering the two other vets (that cross-examined the results) said that the cat was healthy.
To me, this is a blatant money grab. Uniquely Cats has not offered me any sort of refund, partial or full since I have voiced my concerns. No one has reached out to me since I called in. If you're paying hand over fist for 'top quality' vet care, then customer service should be apart of that.
This place was not worth the money, and with so many other options in Boulder, I don't see why anyone would go here.
