Once upon a time, I had the best pork chop that I ever ate, here. It was the kind of pork chop that used to exist before "lean pork" was invented. It was juicy, perfect and practically melted in my mouth. I see that Blackfish is open for pick-up now. I'll start checking to see if pork chops are on the menu -- I will never forget them. By the way, everything else on the menu is good too. I'm fine with pick-up and I only live a couple of blocks away. I'll be right over ...

If you're looking for a nicer dinner on the outer Cape, this is a really good option. Been a few times over the years and always come away both satisfied and even a little surprised. Get the fried oysters app.

Dishes were amazing, our waitress was super friendly and helpful. I can say I ate one of the best scallop that I have ever had. It is a bit pricey though but for that quality I think it is worth.

Best meal of my life... Everything was perfect. Smoked bone marrow was paired perfectly with the greens and the lobster dish was amazingly rich yet not TOO rich and perfectly portioned.

For the Cape you really must give this place 5 stars. The food is quite good by any standards, and the dishes are interesting and well paired. Drinks are decent, and the wine selection more than adequate. The service is just OK, especially for this price point.

We arrived early (5:30pm) on a Monday evening in August with 2 professional adults and a 17mo old toddler. We got a table with a highchair right away. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our food was served immediately, before we could even sip our wine! Halibut steak on special was absolutely delicious, although the cooked greens were a bit salty. My husband had rabbit ragu; the portion was large and he could only eat half; he liked it but found it to be surprisingly cheesy and also on the salty side. The wine list was superb, and hence made us quite forgiving about any foodie quibbles. What was not so superb was the clientele. I have never felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant with a child (and we dine out often); our toddler was well behaved but some patrons seemed very displeased to even see a child in a restaurant. We ended up eating quickly, packing up our remaining half bottle of wine, and not getting a chance to enjoy the quaint atmosphere. Even if you are sans child/children be prepared for some serious pretension.

Excellent restaurant and an even better ambience which combines rustic farm life with new age American. The chef always comes up with a delightful special, which is more often than not fresh fish. Today the special was seared halibut. The crispy haddock is tasty with a great seared crust. Try the chocolate pretzel torte for dessert. If you are a vino lover, try a selection from nearby Truro Vineyards

Superb food. Small and crowded bar area, but a fairly comfortable dining room.

Menu favorites include the Nauset mussels, served with fennel and sausage in a cream broth. Beautiful, tender, flavorful mussels in a rich, creamy broth. The fennel and sausage beautifully complement the mussels. It's a generous portion to share and comes with some nice, charred bread.

The burgers are fantastic. The tuna Bolognese is amazing - a rich, silky sauce full of flavor.

Service here is very good; much of the staff returns year after year.

One quibble. On our last visit, we were told that the bread basket accompanied with a chickpea spread, which used to be complimentary, is now considered an appetizer and is priced at $3.

Reservations strongly suggested and they book up well in advance.

We arrived 1/2 hr. before our reservation time due to a very bad storm approaching and were seated right away, our table was clearly ours for the night. We were greeted promptly, given menus and a drink listing and given time to absorb. We ordered cocktails, which were very nice and then the waitress returned for our food order. She was well informed about the menu and could answer all of our questions. We ordered a pinot noir bottle for dinner, which came room temp. we asked that the second bottle be cooled a bit and it was brought to the table with a marble cooler. We ordered the pear/endive salad (good) seared scallop (great!) little necks (awesome!) a veggie tartlet (good) then for dinner, a skirt steak (amazing taste but a bit too rare, just ask for a bit more cooking time, but the flavor was there!) the buttered lobster (yum!) the pork chop (flavorful and huge!) the tuna bolognese (a signature dish, the tuna is ground up and not fishy, could have been beef or pork for the flavor and texture, yummy, but not like tuna) for dessert we split a chocolate mousse cake (rich and yummy) and a bread pudding that was light and and served with a great ice cream, caramel sauce and raspberry puree. The $80/$100 price per person includes a cocktail, appetizer, main course, 2 bottles of wine and dessert, so without all that it could be under $50 a person. I recommend the Blackfish for a special meal.

Boy oh boy, my girlfriend and I walked in after seeing great reviews, wasn't aware we needed reservations. But was so kindly seated regardless which we certainly appreciated. The atmosphere is wonderful in the old blacksmiths building that is just amazing to embrace, but the food was out of this world, the service was attentive but not intrusive. And they made sure to keep the wine glasses full, the mussels app was to die for. And the steak fell apart in my mouth. When we return to the Cape, we will certainly be returning to Blackfish, absolutley amazing.

The "regulars" rule at this restaurant. We didnt have a reservation but were assured the bar area turned over quickly so we took a chance. We waited for an hour for people to free up the counter or bar area once they finished their meals, but the same people hung around forever..even took the stools from the counter! The staff allows it. I had a stool and my husband did not. We finally left !

Wowee! Fantastic meals all around. I think those were the best scallops I've had, east coast or west. Our waitress Jill was charming and very helpful with a gluten sensitivity in the group. Prices are high but the experience was worth every penny. Open through October.

About Blackfish Restaurant

Blackfish Restaurant: A Culinary Haven for Seafood Lovers

If you're a seafood lover, then Blackfish Restaurant is the place to be. This rustic brick-walled eatery, formerly a blacksmith shop, boasts refined seafood dishes and a bar scene that will leave you wanting more. The restaurant focuses on fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients to create an unforgettable dining experience.

At Blackfish Restaurant, the menu is carefully crafted to showcase the best of what the sea has to offer. From oysters on the half shell to grilled octopus with chorizo and fingerling potatoes, every dish is made with precision and care. The chefs at Blackfish are passionate about their craft and it shows in every plate they serve.

One of the standout dishes at Blackfish is their pan-seared scallops with cauliflower puree and brown butter sauce. The scallops are perfectly cooked – tender on the inside with a crispy sear on the outside – while the cauliflower puree adds a creamy texture that complements them perfectly. The brown butter sauce ties everything together with its rich nutty flavor.

Another must-try dish at Blackfish is their lobster risotto with English peas and truffle oil. This decadent dish features plump pieces of lobster nestled in creamy risotto that's been infused with truffle oil for an extra layer of flavor. The English peas add a pop of freshness that balances out all of those rich flavors.

But it's not just about seafood at Blackfish – they also have plenty of options for meat lovers as well. Their grilled hanger steak with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and red wine jus is melt-in-your-mouth delicious while their roasted chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and spinach will make you forget all about boring old chicken dinners.

Of course, no meal at Blackfish would be complete without something sweet to finish things off. Their dessert menu features classics like crème brûlée alongside more inventive options like olive oil cake served with lemon curd ice cream.

But it's not just about what's on your plate at Blackfish – it's also about where you're sitting while you enjoy your meal. The restaurant itself has an industrial-chic vibe thanks to its exposed brick walls and metal accents but still manages to feel warm and inviting thanks to its cozy lighting scheme.

And let's not forget about the bar scene at Blackfish either! They have an extensive wine list featuring bottles from around the world as well as creative cocktails like their "Smoke & Mirrors" which combines mezcal, lime juice, agave nectar, black pepper syrup, activated charcoal powder (yes really!), egg white foam & smoked paprika dusting!

In conclusion: If you're looking for a culinary adventure that celebrates fresh ingredients prepared by passionate chefs in an inviting atmosphere then look no further than BlackFish Restaurant!
