Just not the same quality since being bought out by GayLea, especially the Maple Cheddar.

Amazing ice-cream and a lovely orange cat that greets you. Go down to the river and eat on or near the dock, it's great!

I was expecting cheese tasting and instead found fridges with cheese for sale.

Good cheese and ice cream. A few picnic tables outside to hang out. Nice snakes in the river near the dock.

It's always nice to stop on the way past & pick up a bag of fresh curd or an ice cream cone!

We have heard of this place from fellow campers at a local campsite. So we decided to visit for some ice cream. Portions are enormous for the price compared to many ice cream shops that we've frequented. Cheese choices are plentiful and prices are fairly cheap. Well worth the trip. Staff is friendly and location is following and enforcing Covid-19 protocol.

Unfriendly. They don't want people launching kayaks/canoes from what appears to be a public access point. It's odd since kayakers and canoeists should be their prime clientele to buy their expensive cheese.

This is not a real cheese ..... plus a cheese counter in fridges with some product ... made more a convenience store that sells hotdog and ice cream ... nothing to do with our cheese. .. Like lemaire., Basques

Amazing assortment of cheeses beautiful cured meat and all sorts of interesting stuff.
Along with ice cream make this a must stop when touring around to local conservation areas. A nice stop to rest the dogs and sit riverside. These guys even decorate nearby bridge with flowers top notch in my books.

Being from rural Quebec it's hard to find a place in Ontario with good curd cheese.. This place has got it, and at great prices..

Well we were extremely disappointed for not being able to visit the factory. We traveled from a far. In our group we had someone from Slovenia, someone from Sherbrooke, QC and someone from London, ON and we were there just for a day and planned our visit to wineries and to the cheese factory. The hours listed for the cheese factory were until 7pm. We showed up at 5pm and it was already closed. Very, very disappointed by it.

Great cheese shop. I love their old cheddar and cheese curds. They also have a selection of jams, crackers & lots more. Great ice cream. Look for cheese ends, great prices, if they have any. Friendly staff. There's parking, but sometimes it can quite busy. Go early before the rush, especially in summer.

The trip to the cheese factory is a special treat to sample the latest additions and discover how best to serve them. Here's a sure winner recipe that will bring raving requests for more: Grate/shred Black River's 'Sizzling Hot Havarti' cheese over a mound of 'Hint of Lime' flavoured Tostito chips. Micro wave them until melted (about 45 seconds). Then serve and watch the approval rating soar from your guests. Also works with Black River Salsa Cheese.
Now if you want the best tasting grilled cheese sandwiches ever, use BR marble cheese with its snappy blend of sharp cheddar and gooey mozzarella. Serve on ancient grain or rye bread with dill pickle slices on the side.

Great selection of cheese, mustard, honey, and other specialty condiments and charcuterie. Ice cream served as well.

On September 10, 2020, we stopped at this cheese factory which was more of a sales counter. The cashier told us that the cheese was no longer made there. Disappointment, we wanted to see where he makes it. We bought several; garlic curds (interesting, tastes great but not the smallest in the bag), honey cheddar (excellent), pepper and garlic cheddar and sharp cheddar.

The cheeses are good to excellent but the fact that they do not produce their products on site is awarded only 3.5.

The cheese is delicious (I tried the honey cheddar, goat, spicy mozzarella and garlic pepper cheese curds) and the ice cream is also awesome, huge servings

I have a love-hate relationship with Black River. They have some amazing products but they are also very commercial and tend to sell other people's products more than their own. Stopping in to pick up some cheese, especially their garlic mozzarella and curds is worth doing. It's really too bad they don't set up some kind of a patio by the river.

A great shop to visit. They are next to the river where you can enjoy your snack from the food truck outside or the Kwarthara ice cream. Very peaceful and relaxing place.

A nice place, but small. They need to work on a quicker service system. Great little stop though. Didn't get to sample any cheese. Will next time though.

Great tasting ice cream and you get lots..the small was way big enough for me. The curd is rather tasteless and bland.. so I don't buy it there
