I've been here back in 2005 when a block of "extra old" cheese sold for $50.00. Now closer to $75.00. Just a bit rich for my blood, so we settled for a smaller sized portion in the lower bin that was reasonable. Very delicious!

Don't let the building's modest size fool you, in fact, its smallness is part of its charm. Nestled along the banks of the Black River, the cheese on offer here is some of the very best I've ever had! My favourite is their lovely Maple Cheddar, an opinion shared by many others.

My advice? Stay at the beautiful and recently renovated Manse Hotel in Picton, then venture out and explore the many local treasures that include fine restaurants, organic farms, wineries, micro-breweries, fruit orchards and of course, Black River Cheese!

Prince Edward County is true foodie heaven!

We stumbled across this place accidentally and we are so so happy we did. So much amazing cheese here and lovely ice cream and other treats. They are located next to a lake where you can sit and enjoy your goodies next to a beautiful view. We were so happy to find them and you will too.

Used to be awesome but since being bought by Gay Lea the selection has become less cheese inspired.......where is the 5 and 7 year old cheese? I don't care about butter tarts

I grew up here and visiting the cheese factory now makes me less nostalgic

Really enjoyed my experience, good service, cheese not too expensive and very good. They have the halloumi cheese that can be used on bbq or hot stone (raclette). Bonus, they have the kawartha ice cream at a very low price, ask to have it in a cup (not cone) and you will the biggest genereous portion you'll ever see

Want halloumi and parmesan cheese half the price of the Picton grocery stores? Look no further! The ice cream is amazing but many times they have almost none in stock. Overall, the staff are so friendly and funny, cheese is good and inexpensive and the ice cream is delicious when they have the good flavors available.

Cheeses are vac packed in the fridge. I was disappointed that there was not an open counter and you had to buy as packaged. There were no smaller options either.

They did have 2 samples bowls that were empty and the 3 teenaged kids working did not seem interested in refilling them despite people looking and asking. I did suggest that if perhaps there were samples in the bowl, people night be inclined to purchase the cheese and they jumped into action. Despite the lack of service or initiative of staff, I did make a small purchase.

They have an ice cream counter on one side of the shop and offer other packaged items. It was a shame that there was no one around to provide info on the background of the company, cheese processing, or general info, especially on the first Saturday of the season! People like to know about and support small business.
