Every kid in PEC grew up on Black Creek cheese, especially the curds. (Best when warm and squeaky.) The cheese was basically the same as it had been since the early 1900s. The medium cheddar was better than 99% of the old cheddar you find now.
But ever since the fire in 2001, when they lost their starter, it's basically an ice cream shop that sells OK cheese and other people's baking. I believe it's owned by some megacorp now.
Sad for a place that historically had so many cheese factories. There were five on Royal Street alone 100 years ago.

Good place for a cone if you're out that way.

Great selection of cheese and condiments made locally. Also available some knick knacks. Bought some curds which were fresh and squishy. Also a block of cheese. Nice waterfront next to it where families were also fishing.

A must see historical stop in Prince Edward County. The very first site still stand directly acroos the road from the new establishment. We paddle out to Prince Edward Bay from behind the outlet.
This is my childhood ice cream stop.

Deep friend cheese curds are amazing! I love this place, but the cheese is a little pricey. However, it is worth the money as everything I've bought here has been fantastic. It's a great place, be sure to stop in to stock up on cheese and try the deep fried cheese curds - don't miss out on those!

Great cheese curds. Even have garlic curds! Good pricing. Clean little store and it didn't have that sour milk smell so many cheese stores seem to have. Friendly staff and old school charm. They have Kawartha ice cream too.
